The Coral Highlands region in Monster Hunter World Iceborne has 10 Treasure Locations. This guide shows where to find all of them.
How Treasure Hunting Works
Each region has a total of 10 treasures. In order to start hunting treasures you will have to reach Unity Level 6 with the grimalkyne faction in the region you want to search for treasures (Bugtrappers for Ancient Forest, Protectors for Wildspire Waste, Troupers for Coral Highlands, Plunderers for Rotten Vale, Gajalaka for Elder’s Recess, Boaboa for Hoarfrost Reach).
To start leveling a faction you will first have to earn their trust by finishing their side quests, which also unlock a certain Palico Gadget from each of them. Use this guide for information on how to unlock all the Palico Gadgets: Palico Gadgets Guide.
Once you have a gadget unlocked in a region you can now use the help of a faction on a hunt. You can either just search for a grimalkyne on the map and it will join you on your hunt or you can use the new gadget “Tailraider Signal” you can unlock in Hoarfrost Reach which lets you call a tailraider like a taxi (highly recommended). Be careful though: you can only call a tailraider when you play solo, since it takes 1 of the 4 spots on your hunting party.
Once a faction reaches level 6 you will be able to perform pawswap with them in their lairs (marked on your map and also has a quick travel button). You can now trade them items for treasure tips. A grimalkyne will show their interest in your item by their movement. They can be non-interested and will turn their heads away, be curious or neutral about it, or go totally crazy for your item, jumping around, dancing around, basically begging you for it. That’s what you are looking for. Always give your items to the grimalkyne which wants it the most, or one of them since multiple can have the same reaction.
They enjoy stuff like potions, meat, traps, etc. Try giving them basically anything you have in your box, they might like it. They can drop the hints pretty fast sometimes and other times you will have to travel back and forward between regions a lot for a single hint, since you can only give them 3 items during a single visit. Only after you get the hint you can find the treasure. Some treasures have one or two hints before you can dig up the actual treasure.
This particular guide will cover the treasures locations in the Coral Highlands.
Tip: In the bottom left corner of the second screenshot of each treasure, you can view the exact map location. The area number (as seen on map) will be mentioned in the text below, just head to the area and check the minimap to align it with the screenshot. The 2nd screenshot also shows the exact spot to stand in for the treasure.
Number 1 is hidden in a shellhouse in the south of area 2. Not hard to find once you know where to search.
From camp 12 head down to area 8, the place where many hunts take place like Kirin, Namielle or basically any other monster that runs through here. Check the south-west corner for the treasure.
In the east side of area 12 there is this windstream which you can use to reach the top area of Coral Highlands by using a Glider Mantle. The same spot has this treasure.
Head to the very top of Coral Highlands (area 15). This is where Namielle, Kirin or Legiana take their nap, a spot you will have often visited during monster hunts. The southwest corner of the plateau has the hint.
For the treasure drop down from the first one, turn around, climb up the vines into the small tunnel and you will reach the fishing spot in area 14 where the treasure is hidden.
The first hint will lead you to the round platform after some swings in area 9.
And the treasure itself will be hidden south of it. You can see the treasure spot from the cave in which you fight some of the monsters like Paolumu.
Head to the low part of area 6 and there check the plant on the red platform for your next hint.
From there head to the very bottom of the same area where you can find the treasure in a dung pile.
The first hint will lead you to the east side of area 9 next to the blue crystal on a sightseeing platform. You can reach this area through the small tunnel near treasure number 5 location.
Head to area 7 for the treasure itself. There drop into the water-filled pit to find it.
To describe it as easy as possible: east side of the lower portion of area 9. The puzzle hint you are given for this isn’t of much use, refer to the picture below.
The second hint will take you to the trees in area 1.
And the treasure itself can be found in area 5. There use the small tunnel in the north which leads to the small hidden area.
First hint will take you to area 8, the small tunnel which leads to the rope-shortcut.
Second hint leads you to the spot where number 9 on your map is to describe it as easy as possible.
The treasure itself is near the waterfall in area 6.
For the final treasure location in Coral Highlands, simply head down the ladder in camp 1.
