Stop the Ritual is a Side Mission in Shadow of the Tomb Raider and the second one of Ancient Species mission line. This walkthrough shows how to complete this Quest.
Region: Paititi
Quest Giver: Mayu
Requirement: Finish Decipher the Murals Side Mission
Reward: New Bow “Heart of the Eagle” – A powerful longbow, used by the Eagle Warriors of Paititi. This weapon is crafted for improved handling.
Quest Location – Stop the Ritual
This side mission will start just after completing the Decipher the Murals side quest, obtained from the same quest giver.
Objective – Reach the Abandoned Village / Enter the ritual site
Mayu will tell you about Awil being taken to the Abandoned Village nearby. Her father wants to sacrifice Awil to Kutulkan, which Lara does not really agree with.
Head to the location marked on your map to find Awil’s father and also a group of Cultists. They won’t see Lara as a threat first, which gives Lara the chance to free Awil.
Objective – Begin the ritual / Defeat Kukulkan’s warriors / Return to Awil and Mayu
After freeing the girl, Lara will get the attention she was obviously asking for. You will have to defeat all the cultists in the Abandoned Village. Some of them attack with melee weapons while others shoot with bows. Dodge a lot and try to stay out of the line of fire from archers. Fire arrows work well against these foes, there’s a fair amount of them coming at you so be prepared.
After finishing off all of the Cultists head back to Mayu and Awil. Lara and Mayu will tell Awil a story in order to make sure she doesn’t get angry about Lara slaughtering her father and also to assure Awil continues her studies instead of accepting the sacrifice of her own life.
This concludes the Stop the Ritual side mission and the Ancient Studies quest line.
