Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Jotunheim Mysteries Walkthrough

November 8, 2020 by FranciRoosters 32 Comments

Jotunheim contains 8 Mysteries in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla (ACV). This Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Jotunheim Mysteries Walkthrough will guide you through all Mystery Locations in the Jotunheim Territory. None of the Mysteries are missable, you can still find everything in free-roam after the story. It’s recommended to collect everything as you go through the regions to level up.

Mysteries get marked by blue icons on the world map automatically when synchronizing the viewpoints. Mysteries are side quests and other open world encounters. Finishing all Mysteries is needed to complete all Territories for the Completionist All the Way! trophy or achievement.

Also in this region:

  • Jotunheim Wealth

Mystery #1: World Event (Aegir’s Daughters)

Talk to the woman at Aegir’s Hall and exhaust all conversation options until “Let’s Drink” appears. When you sober up, interact with the item on the ground. The goal of the quest is to figure out what you did while you were drunk by investigating 3 clues (a boar, a mead cauldron, a barrel). On each clue Eivor will make a comment so you know you did it right.

Start by heading outside. In front of the house where you woke up is a boar. You can scan for it with Odin’s Sight :r3: to highlight it in red (on a road with some people). Walk near the boar and Eivor will say “King Snortington the boar … once a prisoner, now free … I think we even made up a song about it.”.

Then make your way to the big, wooden mead cauldron outside (screenshot below). Examine the broken wooden boat on top. Eivor will say “Were we trying to sail somewhere? Across the Ale Sea to the land of … of … I can’t recall it”.

Now head to the roof of the opposite house and examine the barrels on top (screenshot below). Eivor will say “I think I remember … being up high? How did we get the cart up there?. We made wild revels, it seems. But no harm done, except to my head. Aegir’s Daughters are hospitable indeed”. This ends the Mystery.

Note: if you didn’t get the audio cue when walking near the boar you must return to it and kill it. So if your quest doesn’t complete after the above steps, try killing the boar in front of the house where you woke up.

Mystery #2: Flyting

Here’s the solution

  1. I should like to see you try,
  2. They’re too dull to conquer me,
  3. I grow weary of your squeak.

Mystery #3: World Event (The Puppeteer)

Start by shooting the door lock at the back of the house. Open the door, then open it again to reveal a new room. Now interact with the hairbrush on the table. Walk around the house for a bit until you hear “An intruder!” Defeat the man until you can speak to him. While speaking to him you can decide to fight him, ask for the key in return of his life being spared or leaving. He will give you the key to unlock the cage, no matter your choice.

Mystery #4: Legendary Animal (Steinnbjorn)

This is a level 400 Legendary Animal, the most powerful enemy in the game! To even stand a chance, it’s recommended to be at least level 370 and have a really powerful weapon in your gear, such as Excalibur. A good strategy to beat him comfortably is to always stay close to him.

Mystery #5: World Event (Pit of Slaughter)

Enter the Fighting Pit and talk to the guard. Complete the challenge.

Mystery #6: World Event (The Giants of Fimbulwinter)

Defeat the two NPCs. Should these not be here, return after finishing all the Jotunheim story chapters.

Mystery #7: Cairn

Here’s the solution

Mystery #8: Offering Altar

Here you need to return all 33 Ymir’s Blood Stones found all across Jotunheim. Check our Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Jotunheim All Wealth Locations Guide.

That’s 100% of the Mysteries you can find in Jotunheim Region of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla (ACV).

For all other Mysteries check out the complete Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Mysteries Guide. For the other Collectibles in this region check out the Wealth Guide and Artifacts Guide.

Did you figure this out? I’m also not seeing anyone.

      Yeah. Nothing here either.

They showed up for me after I finished the story missions in the area

To be more specific, this side quest doesn’t trigger until you begin the “A Feast To Remember” mission. When you start that mission, you’ll notice a snowstorm in the area. After you defeat Suttungr, you can do the “Giants Of Fimbulwinter” mission and it’ll clear up the snowstorm afterwards.

When doing Aegir’s daughters, I missed the first interaction after you pass out (the one at your bed). I did the big couldron and wagon interactions, went back to my bed, did that interaction but the mystery hasn’t completed. Anyone know how to fix this? I can’t reload a save as it was a while ago I did this. I’ve done everything required to complete the mysery but it isn’t completing. This is so frustrating!!!

Idk if this is too late, but you have to kill the boar that is wandering outside the alehouse

When doing the Aegir’s Daughter’s, i followed every step and interact the 3 times (clothes, boat on mead tank and cart on the roof) but the mission doesn’t end. Anynoe got this problem? Can anyone help me fix it?

Yes i had the same issue (see above). Just outside the banquet hall a boar spwaned and attacked me, i killed it and that finished the mystery!!

There’s another thing that needs to be done. Just outside the first building there’s a cage with a bunch of people and an animal there. Kill the animal and that should complete the event.

You don’t even need to kill it. But yeah the guide is missing the boar interaction. I thought my game was bugged but it popped after that

    • PowerPyx says

      November 21, 2020 at 4:04 pm

I never had to interact with any boar nor kill it. That shouldn’t be needed. Maybe a little buggy.
I just retried to make sure latest patch hasn’t changed anything and it works exactly as described in the guide (interact with boat in Mead Cauldron, interact with Barrels on opposite roof like the images here show). Those are the only 2 things needed to end the mystery. No boars or other animals. I’m playing the PS4 version, patch 1.02.

    • Sean Humphries says

      November 21, 2020 at 10:08 pm

Is it possible you ran past it and triggered the dialogue? It completed for me when I entered the boar area, didn’t interact with anything just needed the ‘think we even made a song about it’ speech

    • PowerPyx says

      November 22, 2020 at 5:04 pm

      I think that’s it, Sean!
I walked past the boar automatically when exiting the building and Eivor commented on it.

But if you don’t get the boar audio cue and do the Cauldron & Barrels on roof first, then it will no longer give the audio cue when going to the boar. Then the only way is to kill the boar to trigger the audio cue. Good observation on your end, added a note to the guide.

Mystery #3: World Event (The Puppeteer)…
don’t understand. Apparently, you need to look at the door in a special way. But how…

if you mean to unbar it, just walk around to the other side. if you mean to enter it, just walk between the 2 deer head totems like with all the other invisible things.

The bear fight was easy to me, i was lvl 251, he can be defeated easily using fire buff and having the GRIT skill. The skill grit is because he can do alot of dmg to you from the red attacks so you can heal back some of that dmg with out wasting the rations.

thats what i did and i was power 242 with 4 ability slots and grit skill and the fire strike ability is overpowered on this enemy or so it seemed.

I used a bunch of charged shots to his head and hit all his weak points then just kept breaking the icicles that form on him and dodged around… it wasn’t hard and I just used my fathers axe like I have most the game.

Not that anyone notices (or cares) but the armored bear is complete rip-off of the ice boss in Ninja Gaiden Black (who is aptly named Yotunfrau). Same ice spikes and ice waves. Dodge, attack, dodge. Level 400, pfft!

    • Wrath1104 says

      December 1, 2020 at 2:06 pm

Agreed, but can be done much lower. I was around 185 with the Sepulcher (sp) Axe. Stayed in the back leg and just kept swinging.

Make sure you move away during the ice wave stomps

When I traveled back to Jotunheim, I noticed the dead armored bear was alive again in the arena! But when I approached it he fell down dead. I walked a few feet away then went back and he was standing and then fell over dead again! Am I the only one that has this happened?

#1 is also required to kill a boar for me. I’m on PC (1.0.2)

Very odd. Could be unique to the PC version? I’ll add in a note for now that it may be required for some players and not for others.

I am on PC (1.1.0) & did not have to kill the boar. Just walk near it until Eivor comments on it, and then move on to the next thing (the barrel or the roof)

Offering Altar requires 33 blood stones

If you head north of Ymir’s altar there’s a large pond. There’s a few Jotun to kill and bit of stone work with an archway at the top, it’s right by “the Puppeteer”… anyway there’s a huge horned ghost thing, like a pagan version of the mindflayer from Stranger things, just there… doing nothing but glare at you with glowing eyes… why is no one talking about this???
