In Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion, the DMW (Digital Mind Wave) is an intrinsic system that will allow you to get various limit breaks, level your materia, or give temporary buffs in battle. In order to get 100% completion, you will first need to register all 18 DMW Images (7 Characters, 11 Summons), and then you must get 100% for each of the DMW Images. Unlocking all DMW Images will reward you with a Fury Ring and Limit Break Collector , while getting 100% completion for all DMW Images will reward you with Genji Armor and DMW Master .
All Character Images will unlock automatically through story progress, whereas the Summon Images will unlock from completing certain missions. One Summon Image is missable however, Phoenix. This can be acquired in Nibelheim in Chapter 8 by talking to the boy and then inspecting the water tower. In order to get 100% on each DMW Image, you will need to roll their limit breaks. Summons will be easy to get 100%, as these will only require a single limit break to register as 100%. Characters however are a lot more complex. In order to get percentage towards a Character Image, you will need to see specific memories. You will know you are about to see a memory as when it is about to roll onto a certain character’s limit break (the left and right image on the DMW is the same character), there will be a blue pulse that goes across the screen before it shows the memory. These memories will become available through story progression, so before you are even able to see them all, you will want to be at the end of the game. You are allowed to skip the memories when they are triggered, it will still count towards progression (no need to watch them).
Each Character will start at 10% DMW Completion, and you will need to see six unique memories for each character. Four of these will increase it by 10%, while the last two will increase it by 25%. For Genesis, you will only need to see two memories, which will increase it by 45% each, however he is a lot harder to see memories for as you will need to roll onto Genesis Mode before you can get his limit break/memories. You will get many of these through normal progression while playing the story and completing missions, but there are several methods for making these easier to obtain in general, and for specific characters.
The DMW can be in multiple different states (Low, Normal, High, Sky High, Heavenly), and the higher the state the more likely you are to see limit breaks, and thus memories. This can go up or down when you roll a limit break, but the best way to increase this is by rolling Cissnei’s limit break: Lucky Stars. When you use this limit break, it will increase the DMW state by 1 to 4 levels, depending on the level of the limit break.
There are several stores in the game which will allow you to buy purple DMW-related Materia, which when equipped will increase the chance of rolling that specific character’s limit break. You can stack multiple for one character to increase it even higher, or equip various different ones. DMW Materia for Sephiroth, Angeal, Tseng, Cloud, Aerith and Cissnei can be purchased from Research Dept. QMC+, which can be found inside a chest in Gongaga in Chapter 9. This is missable, so make sure you get it while you’re in Chapter 9! DMW Materia for Genesis can be purchased from Online Shop Shade, which is a reward from completing Mission 9-5-4: Abnormal Power.
As you progress through missions, it is worth having a Lucky Stars materia on if you can spare a materia slot to increase your chances of limit breaks in general as you play. If you want to grind any character in particular, the best way to do this is to equip 2 Lucky Stars materia, and 4 materia for the character you are trying to get. Then load up a simple mission like Mission 1-1-1 and simply stand around and wait. Depending on how many memories you need for a character, this might take a while. Alternatively, just keep playing through missions and you’ll get a majority of DMW progress done naturally.
You will need to complete the current fight you are in for memories to register, and also complete the mission. If you die in a fight after getting a new memory, or abort a mission without completing it, you will lose those memories!
After getting 100% the trophy/achievement doesn’t unlock immediately. You must manually open the “DMW” menu for it to pop.
Easy AFK Farming Method
There’s a very easy method that you can use to get 100% DMW completion over night without any button input.
- You’ll want to equip Faerie Ring which gives you permanent Regen (auto-heal). It’s a reward for Mission 2-5-5 and 7-6-2 or bought from shop Mythril Mine Traders (20,000 Gil).
- Boot up Mission 1-1-1 against low-level Shinra soldiers, leave only 1 Soldier alive, just stand around and wait for it to roll DMW images you still need.
- The permanent Regen buff will keep you alive infinitely. Come back after a few hours and finish the mission (this is important to save your DMW progress, don’t die or forfeit the battle).
Check your DMW progress afterward. You should have all done after doing this for a full night. If you still need a few specific ones you can buy their Materia from Shops to roll specific DMW images more frequently, then equip those Materia and repeat for a few more hours until your missing ones are complete. This method is also fantastic for getting 5 stars on any Materia you want to level up (certain DMW rolls level up your Materia)!

I have a question about Genesis DMW 100%. My current situation is Chapter 10, Genesis mode is already active, and Genesis DMW is 10%. Is it possible to make it 100% from here? I heard that there is one genesis mode per chapter. Should I go to the next lap? I don’t want to go to the next one because I finished 80% of the mission.
PowerPyx says
“I heard that there is one genesis mode per chapter.”
This is false.
You can get all Genesis DMW progress in Chapter 10 alone. It’s not tied to specific chapters.
You need to see 2 different flashbacks. I was at 10% myself in Chapter 10 and did it with the farming method described here in the guide via the checkpoint before final boss. So don’t worry, it’s not missable. It’s just very random and hard to roll Genesis’ DMW. Was the last one I needed too and took me a few hours. (sometimes it rolls a repeat of the same flashback, but if you use the described farming method and stay in the same mission without leaving it seems to roll the 2nd flashback if you already saw the 1st in that mission).
You can still do ALL DMW progress from the final save point, before endboss (just unlocking “Phoenix – Rebirth Flame” is missable, but the DMW progress still works from 10% – 100% in Chapter 10).
Genius says
If you press triangle to Skip the memory will it count?
PowerPyx says
Yes, still counts, I always skipped them.
medon says
Thanks for sharing.I got 48/75 LIMIT/VERGE now and
equipped multiple 5 stars Apocalypse materias for Genesis in order to trigger his flashbacks. But Genesis D.M.W is still 10%.It’s completely luck-based.
I’m wondering how many times did it take to get 100% Genesis D.M.W(LIMIT/VERGE counts in DMW menu).
abo_hodiban says
Correction: For Magic Pot, it’s *Assault Rush* you get from Angeal’s DMW not *Assault Twister* the blade ability. ?
abo_hodiban says
Edit: I’m mistaken. Apparently I’m using Assault Twister+ which doesn’t work. Might need the original materia without the +.
Goodoge says
Yes my game is bugged. All but one DMW at 100%, Aerith’s at 90%. 6 Mastered Healing Waves in 1 encounter for 15 hours, still haven’t seen the last memory. Done every mission except Minerva. Sucks. I’m wondering if you actually have to use every level of limit break or something for it to unlock.
Goodoge says
Ok in typical “complain online then instantly find a solution” fashion, I tried restarting my game (I had gone the entire game never closing it, just using rest mode) and got the last memory in 10 spins. Go figure.
Raye says
I’ve been doing this for 6 hours with cloud and can’t get any further than 80%
PowerPyx says
Equip the materia purchasable from shop that boost Cloud’s DMW. Then stay in same battle for a few hours via the afk boosting method in M1-1-1 (don’t finish the battle in between). Just let it run overnight and should be complete after a few hours.
Noctis says
Stuck at 90% Chapter 10 what i do wrong
PowerPyx says
It’s just bad luck. Use the afk farming method, equip the DMW materia for the one you are missing to increase the odds (purchasable from shops).
Itachi says
Terrible RNG for Genesis! @55% right before the final fight… Every other been 100%. Been at 1-1-1 for what seems an eternity and can’t get one DMW with 6 Materia with him! Starting to be one of my least fav trophies here!
Archavia says
Try it with 2 Lucky Stars materia and 4 Apocalypse materia, instead of 6 of the latter. This way you can hopefully keep Heavenly DMW status to get more rolls.
Joey says
Hey all
Helpful stuff 🙂
May be obvious , but leaving it for a few hours means they limits don’t get activated – they’ll still count fine right?
Archavia says
Yes, you only need to see the memories, which occur without needing to activate them.
Adrian says
I have all DMW’s mastered, all check marks and even the genji equipment to show for it. Still though, the DMW master trophy hasn’t popped. Is this bugged? I’ll be damned if have to all of that again.
PowerPyx says
Haven’t heard other reports of this. For me it popped after I opened the DMW menu when all were completed (you have to manually open the DMW menu, only then it unlocks the trophy, doesn’t pop immediately when you completed the last DMW). If you have a manual save before getting the final DMW try reloading that and re-unlocking the last one. Also manually sync your trophies (go to trophy list > sync with PSN) to make sure it’s not just a PSN sync issue or disconnect from internet to confirm your trophies offline.
Adrian says
Thank you for the tip and amazing guide to follow. My previous save has about half of the DMW’s complete. 20 hours of AFK farming here we come. My end game save has 100 percent all characters and check marks in DMW. Unlucky I guess.
PowerPyx says
Before you redo it all from your old save, also reinstall the game. Sometimes there’s an error with trophy set install when the game is being installed for the first time, this can result in isolated bugs like this. I’ve had this a few times over the years where trophies bugged for me that bugged for nobody else and reinstall always fixed it. It won’t pop the trophy retroactively, but when you redo the requirement (unlocking final DMW again and opening DMW menu) then it should register properly. Reinstall just improves the odds that the issue will be fixed on the next try.
Octaslasher says
I got Genesis complete very quickly but I am stuck on Aerith and Cissnei (they have 80 % and 90 %). How are these percentages even possible if the last two memories give you 50 % progress ? How can Cissnei have 90 % if you need 25 % for the last one ? I use 6 lucky star materia and she still gets only the same old memories as before. None of the methods help. I tried it all.
John says
You need to activate Lucky stars by the way if you wanna keep heavenly limit up. Doing 2 lucky stars amd 4 materia of the desired character in 1-1 mission will unlock them all for you. Just need to be patient. Genesis is giving me issues but I just finished it.
Flash says
Can anyone help with magic pot 100%, i got it but its on 0/0 i dunno what to do there there’s nothing on google and there don’t seem to be purple materia for him…im working on the others and almost finished, its the only summon dmw i need to finish tho and i don’t understand why or how to get it to summon, i only get the other summons :((
HawkinsHawk says
So did the AFK method got my last Genesis memories. Everything is 100% but no DMW Master Trophy. If I have to start all the way over again I’m not getting the platinum because that’s crazy
Bman says
If by doing the AFK method with 2 slots of lucky stars and 4 slots of the DMW materia, after activating lucky stars to get heavenly status, does the heavenly status remain in effect the entire time/battle? (Overnight)
PowerPyx says
It doesn’t. But you will likely keep rolling Lucky Stars frequently to refresh it.
BogeyZero says
If I do the AFK method overnight, won’t that drain my SP completely? It subtracts 10 SP every time the reel spins. And your guide says I should save up at least a million SP.
Snake2410 says
Each time you roll a triangle prompt it’ll give you a whole bunch of SP. So you shouldn’t run out. Every time I roll Cissnei I get like 2k SP.
Snake2410 says
An alternate way, if you’re only missing one for a character, is using Lucky Stars to get Heavenly status. Then finishing the fight to keep it. Save your game. Then equip only the materia for the character you need, as many as you want. Do 1 – 1 – 1 and if you don’t land a DMW scene with that character then forfeit and restart the fight.
I spent over an hour trying to get the last one for Tseng to no avail, then tried it that way. Got the one I was missing on my fourth retry, within about 10 minutes. I still need to unlock the store that Genesis materia is available at, then I’ll test his to see if I get the same luck. The only other one I need for the trophy is Cactar after that. Need to do those missions first.
Angel says
Got it all 100 buy the trophy won’t popped?? Any help please??? ????
