Cyberpunk 2077 Guinea Pigs Gig Walkthrough

December 28, 2020 by Gage 13 Comments

Guinea Pigs is a Gig in Cyberpunk 2077 (CP77). This walkthrough will guide you through all steps of the Guinea Pigs Gig (Side Quest).

Area: City Center (Downtown)
Quest Giver: Dino Dinovic
Requirement: Street Cred Level 18
Reward: €$10,900 / 565 XP / Street Cred XP
Mission Info: Gig type: Gun for Hire

Objective: Eliminate Joanne Koch

Location: Biotechnica corporate hotel, on Republic Way

Details:
Chick’s name is Joanne Koch, regional director for tech and development or some shit at Biotechnica. Means she tests all the shiny new gizmos. Last little gizmo she tested? Yeah, that one flatlined over 70 souls – folks from a clan called Red Orchid or Red Ocher or something like that. Koch tried to dry the tears of victims’ families with a few ennies (ever try that? doesn’t work) and decided to close the book on it. Sure enough, book didn’t close all the way – all them families pooled together to hire someone who’d give Director Koch the cordial greeting she deserves. You know the kind – SUPER CORDIAL, to show her they REALLY CARE.

I’ll flick you the coords and the access code to the corpo hotel Koch is holed up in. Shoot em a word after the smoke’s cleared.

Objectives:

  • Get inside the hotel
  • Reach the 19th floor
  • Get inside Koch’s apartment
  • Neutralize Joanne Koch
  • Escape the hotel

Starting Location: Guinea Pigs

Gig: Guinea Pigs starts in City Center (Downtown).

Get inside the hotel

Your goal in this gig is to go up to the 19th floor of the hotel and take out Joanne Koch. You can enter the building from one of three doors, but you always have to go up the same elevator so it’s not a huge deal where you come in. It’s honestly probably better to either go through the lobby then the door beside the bar or the open door to the right side of the building that goes directly into the rear hallway, as the elevator is also on that side.

You aren’t obligated to do this gig stealthy at all, so if you want you could also just shoot you way in.

Reach the 19th floor

Going through the hallway on the right there will be one worker in the second room you can take out or leave, then the elevator is out the door to the right. None of the enemies in the lobby should be able to stop you if you go straight to the elevator from here.

Get inside Koch’s apartment

On the upper floor there are two robots directly in front of the elevator, but they aren’t actually active and won’t notice you when you go by them, so you only need to worry about the cameras and the one enemy wandering around.

To the left is where you need to go to progress. If you have 19 TECHNICAL ABILITY you can go right through the front door of the apartment, otherwise, you need to take the small door up the stairs to the rooftop. On the rooftop go to the left side, watching for the two enemies that walk back and forth beside the peak window, which is where you need to drop into to get into the apartment.

Neutralize Joanne Koch

If you have not triggered combat, Joanne will be sitting on the coach currently distracted by a braindance. You can choose to wake her up if you want, but all she’ll do is try and call security so there isn’t any reason to over just taking her out as is.

Escape the hotel

After she is dealt with, you can retrace your steps back out of the hotel to complete the gig.

This finishes Guinea Pigs gig in Cyberpunk 2077 (CP77).

When I woke up Joanne I actually got dialogue with her, asking to let me back up data before I take her out. I think your play through might have bugged.

This comment made my life a lot more difficult. Should have just popped her in the head while she wasn’t paying attention.

This seems to be just a ruse, she will just open the door and call out for security anyway.

I kinda feel like waking her up and let her fear what she has coming for her is the best option here, taking her out with a swift headshot after the dialogue you die right here and now.

This gig is extremely bugged for me. Numerous times I’ve had to re-do it because it either lags when you reach her or the biggest issue for me is when leaving the building, it remains in combat mode after leaving the hotel, no matter how far away from the hotel. It’s frustrating to keep having to restart or re-load this gig. I’ve managed to complete it once or twice before, with issues but it seems even more bugged now. 🙈

All these robots are awake for me and they are all incredibly high level. Horrible bug, i’m level 45 but the area is clearly not built for you to fight through all the bots.

Try using a short circuit quick hack it one shots the robots

Bots are definitely active! The moment the elevator door opened, their ‘eye’ meter starts building up. Unfortunately Short Circuit hack did not instantly kill the robots for me; instead, it alerted the others.

Koch as well, was never awake on my game no matter how I tried; reloading save, shooting my loud gun in hope to cause panic, walking back and forth to see if it’d ever show me dialogue options. Nothing.

Koch’s part looks like a bug to me. I ended up completing this gig loud because I had no idea how else to get through the elevator part.

At least yours completed the quest. I’ve killed her, left the area, went on with the game and still the gig will not close out. I also noticed while I was doing this areas gigs that I got NO phone calls with explanations of what they wanted. I’ve went back to the hotel and chopped her with a katana just to make sure I killed her. Still it won’t close out. I have 2 gigs in this area that have done this, I may not get my trophy for the City Center. What a shame…

A few people in forums are finding that the reason missions won’t finish is because the mission “target” person is down but still alive. Normally you can finish them off with a second headshot or similar, and it lets you progress. This can be if you have non-lethal weapons or cyberware that does similar. Might not be what is happening for you but I thought I would mention it just incase.

Instead of assassinating her I used non-lethal methods. The objectives changed to wait for the AV to land, which is a flying dumpster. After dumping her in the flying trash bin it changed to escape the hotel.

It keeps telling me to wait for AV outsode landing area and it just swoops down and eother kills me instantly or just flies by and wont let me complete mission. Tried taking her alive and dead same either way. Also tried taking her out then just dipping out and says go get her and brong her to AV FML

The robots outside the elevator on the 19th floor were very active for me. Killed me several times.
In the end I dactivated the camera on the other end of the hall, distracted one robot with the camera right above it, and blinded optics on the other one. Then sneak rushed to the door. The leftover guard didn’t see me.
