Starting Location: The Nomad

Talk to the Mechanic

Your story opens with a mechanic trying to rip you off. Typical.

  • [Check engine] Step aside. I’ll handle it.
  • I’m going to pay you what we agreed.

Fix the engine

If you want something done right…

  • [Hotwire] I’ll bypass the coupling.
  • I’m thinking.

Get in the car

Start the engine. Third time’s the charm.

  • Connect to radio station
  • Doable? Doable.
  • I’m looking for Jackie Welles.

Talk to the Sheriff

  • I’m just passing through.
  • My mistake.

Then he asks you some timed questions, to which you can either choose the only available answer or just stay quiet.

  • I’ll just fix it and be on my way.
  • Do you have a problem?

This guy loves being the most important guy in his fly-speck of a town.

  • I’m here alone.
  • What do you have against nomads?

There is literally no right answer.

  • I need to use your radio tower.
  • You’re a real hospitable bunch.

The irony is that you’d already have left town if he’d just stop talking.

  • [Close door] I don’t want any trouble.
  • [Close door] You like the sound of your voice, don’t you?

Go to the telecom tower

Follow the waypoint to the telecom tower at the edge of “town”, and kick the door open.

Climb the telecom tower and locate the control box

There are some random junk items and components on the edges of the tower if you look, but there’s really only one place to go.

Connect your sat phone to the telecom tower

Talk to your old pal McCoy to get an update on your contact’s location.

  • I need your help.
  • Then why don’t you?

When McCoy asks if you were in the right place at the right time, you can lie or tell the truth, either way gets you the info

  • Of course.
  • My car broke down.

Return to the car

Climb down.

Head to the meeting place

Go east on the road through “town”, somehow resisting the urge to run over the Sheriff on your way by. Pull up to the trailer.

Get out of the car

Meet Jackie Welles

Go inside.

Talk to Jackie

  • That’s right.
  • Are you Jackie Welles?

Your contact will engage you in a little chit-chat to get to know you before doing business.

  • Let’s start with you then.
  • You’re a man of principle, is that it?

Satisfied, he shoves the cargo towards you.

  • Let’s load it up.
  • What’s inside?

You can ask, but Jackie doesn’t really know the contents.

Follow Jackie

Go outside.

Open the trunk

Pop open your hatchback.

Get in the car

You’re driving.

Drive to the border

Follow the waypoint south to the border crossing. Wait for the barricade to drop to let you into the checkpoint.

Drive into the checkpoint

Pull up and stop in the yellow bordered square.

Talk to Jackie while waiting for the security check to finish

Jackie starts to get nervous.

  • [Take document] Hand me the manifest.
  • Calm down.

One more piece of business.

  • You have bribe money?
  • This is how it works.

Get out of the car

Enter the border security building

Deposit weapons at front desk

Follow the waypoints and leave your handgun at the front desk.

Head to room 2

Go inside.

Sit

Like the man says.

Talk to the border guard

Just play it cool.

  • [Hand over papers] Is this routine?
  • [Hand over papers] I know the drill.

Like I said, one more piece of business.

  • [Give bribe] Actually, I forgot this.
  • Is anything wrong?

Collect your weapons at the front desk

Interview over, so go get your gun.

Return to the car

Walk casual.

Depart the border crossing

Looks like Jackie is going to drive your car now, even though he hired you as a driver. Nothing suspicious about that at all.

  • The customs officer was all over me.
  • I have a sneaky feeling.

Fight off your pursuers

This is all Jackie’s fault somehow. Fend off the pursuers with your pistol. You can try to take out the individual guys, but its faster to just blow up their SUV.

Go to a safe location with Jackie

Jackie needs to freak out in private for a bit.

Get out of the car

Talk to Jackie

  • You think this is my fault?
  • Calm down. Things like this happen.

Well, job’s over. Nice working with you Jackie.

  • You pay my transport fee.
  • I could ask you the same question.

Not the best start for a working relationship.

  • You tricked me.
  • I appreciate the honesty.

Sure, you were going to cheat me so why not open the package too since reputation isn’t important to me.

  • [Open] Let’s peek away.
  • Shouldn’t touch the merchandise.

Hold on, what happened to the original buyer?

  • [Poke iguana] We should sell it.
  • You know your iguanas?

This has just completely gone off the rails now.

  • I have no plans at the moment.
  • Why do you ask?

Wait, are you hitting on me?

  • Thanks.
  • I don’t need help.

You admitted you were going to cheat me, and you stole the client’s cargo. Sure, let’s be best friends.

  • [Shake Jackie’s hand] Let’s move, partner.
  • You’re all right, too.

This finishes The Nomad main quest in Cyberpunk 2077 (CP77). Now the next quest The Rescue becomes available.

Nice, but I’m thinking of quitting and I’ve only begun. I reached the point just where you left off. I’m at the part where the girl shows me things work. No problem with the guns but I can’t understand the scanning. I”m looking through in this learning part, looking at a guy and I’m supposed to scan him. Behind him is this big green tv with numbers rolling down. There are no explanations on what I’m supposed to do to scan. I focus on the tv and press “F” (pc) and I keep getting the message “blocked”. I keep trying and same thing.
This reminds me of the Mafia game which I quit and refunded my money. It was because of the stupid car race near the beginning. And I read where a ton of people got pissed at the race. I’m thinking. WHY THE FOOK did they do that? I pay money for a game and it’s not supposed to piss me off. Why? It’s my game? The least they could do was give me the option of not racing and continue.
So this scanning thing is pissing me off because it’s a game and they shouldn’t be this complicated when it’s something that I bought. I don’t get it. So I’ve tried youtube and Google and nobody explains it. All they do is show that they scan and move on, but nobody explains, step by step, what THE FOOK to do. IF I don’t get help or figure it out by tomorrow, I dump the game and move on. Games are supposed to be fun so why penalize me for something that I bought?
If you can help thanks. If not, thanks anyway and I move on to another game. No biggie.

It’s okay, I finally figured it out. It only took me 2 hours.

for anyone wondering you cant actually get back here unless you can do it later in the game you have to get past the boarder crossing far south of the map but even if you get past them some special turret starts chunking your health and you die.
