Introduction
Welcome to the Dead Space Remake Trophy Guide! A remake of the classic PS3 horror game, faithfully remade with many improvements, Dead Space Remake offers an updated upgrade system, new weapon abilities, a security clearance system, expanded story with side missions and new dialogue, quality-of-life changes, and changed collectible locations.
In order to get Platinum, you will need to complete the game using only the Plasma Cutter, on New Game Plus, and on Impossible. This can technically be done in just two playthroughs, but this would mean doing Impossible on your first playthrough which isn’t recommended. There are many collectibles that will need to be found, many of which have changed locations or are completely new from the original version. There is also a new type of collectible – Marker Fragments – that can only be found on New Game Plus and are required to unlock the new alternative ending. There are a few miscellaneous trophies, as well as trophies tied to getting kills with each weapon and fully upgrading everything. By following the Collectible Guide you will get all trophies.
Step 1: Complete the game on any difficulty, find all Collectibles (Plasma Cutter Only optional)
Play through the game on any difficulty, finding all the collectibles. Follow the Dead Space Remake Collectible Guide and you will earn all possible trophies automatically. If you are not sure where to go during the story, simply press and it will point you to the next objective or open the map to see a line showing the path.
If you want, you can choose to do this first playthrough with Plasma Cutter only, but if you would rather use your full arsenal of weapons in this playthrough, that can be saved for New Game Plus. If you choose to play through it normally, make sure to get 30 kills with each weapon for its respective trophy.
There are 3 side missions that span across the game, as well as a few miscellaneous trophies that can only be done at certain locations. Everywhere in the USG Ishimura can be returned to up until the Point of No Return at the end of Chapter 11, which will give you a warning before passing it, so if you miss anything you can go and get it once you have full access to the ship. Everything during Chapter 9 is missable and can’t be returned to so be sure to collect everything during that chapter and keep a Manual Save. A small number of action-dependent audio logs only trigger when doing certain actions at certain story points, those are missable too but you only need 150 of 188 logs for trophies so missing a few is fine.
Below are the chapters/locations where you can do these miscellaneous trophies (when following the Collectible Guide you will get these automatically):
- Front Toward Enemy – Chapter 9 – Dead on Arrival, USM Valor (missable)
- Z-Baller – Chapter 10 – End of Days, Crew Deck
- There’s Always Peng! – Chapter 11 – Alternate Solutions, inside Cargo Bay
Below are the three side missions, when they can be started and the earliest they can be completed (when following the Collectible Guide you will get these automatically):
- Whole Again – can be started in Chapter 2, and completed in Chapter 10
- Full Clearance – can be started in Chapter 4, and completed in Chapter 10
- Final Regeneration – can be started in Chapter 6, and completed in Chapter 7
Step 2: Complete New Game Plus using only the Plasma Cutter, Collect 12 Marker Fragments for Alternative Ending, Fully Upgrade All Gear
Once you complete the game, you will unlock a few rewards as well as New Game Plus. Everything, including collectibles and upgrades, will carry over so if you missed anything you can get it during this playthrough. Once again you can choose any difficulty for this playthrough. Impossible itself isn’t available in New Game+ unless you already completed the game on that difficulty.
If you didn’t do your first playthrough using only the Plasma Cutter, now is your time to do it. Hopefully your Plasma Cutter will be decently upgraded from the first playthrough, if not focus all your upgrades on this and your suit. Leave all other weapons inside storage, to avoid the risk of shooting any of them. Doing melee kills, stomping on enemies, using kinesis on enemies, and shooting/throwing objects and explosive canisters is allowed. You just can’t fire a shot with any weapon other than Plasma Cutter, everything else is fine.
During this playthrough you will want to get enough nodes to fully upgrade all your weapons and your suit, as well as find all 12 of the Marker Fragments required to unlock the new alternative ending. The Marker Fragments are a new collectible type in the Remake and they are only available in New Game Plus. In order to trigger the new ending, you will need to place the Marker Fragments in an office in Executive Chambers in Crew Deck, so make sure you do this before going past the Point of No Return at the end of Chapter 11.
For this step follow the Dead Space Remake Marker Fragments Locations Guide.
Step 3: Complete the game on Impossible difficulty
Impossible difficulty is changed in the remake, for better and for worse. Impossible is set to Hard difficulty for how much damage you take and deal, but autosave will be turned off, you will only have one save slot (you can overwrite this one save at every save point as often as you want so essentially infinite saves but limited to one slot), and if you die the save file will immediately be reverted to Hard. This means that the enemies are actually easier than they were in the original version, but if you make a mistake and die you will lose your save.
This can be remedied if you have a PlayStation Plus subscription as you will be able to back up your save file and copy it back in the event that you die. Even if you don’t have PS+, this is still quite manageable as you can pause and quit out if you are about to die. As you are able to save as regularly as you like, you can quit out and try again if you have a bad fight or waste too much ammo/health. To back up saves in PS+ Cloud: Go to PS5 Settings > Saved Data and Game/App Settings > Saved Data (PS5) > Console Storage > Dead Space > Upload to Cloud Storage > go back one menu and select Sync Saved Data > Auto-Sync Saved Data = DISABLED (this is to ensure it doesn’t automatically overwrite your Cloud Save when you die).
If you wanted to do the platinum in two playthroughs, you can do Impossible on your first playthrough, and then do New Game Plus with only the Plasma Cutter (or even Plasma Cutter Only on Impossible and New Game Plus with the Hand Cannon), but this may prove frustrating due to not being familiar with the enemy locations and how to deal with them, particularly if you don’t have access to PS+ for backups. Ultimately however it is up to you which you would prefer.

For this you will need to complete the side mission Premeditated Malpractice. This can be started in Chapter 6, and can be completed as early as Chapter 7. This can be completed at any point before leaving the USG Ishimura at the end of Chapter 11. If following the Dead Space Remake Collectibles Guide, this will be done along the way with minimal backtracking.
Side Mission Start – Premeditated Malpractice: At the beginning of Chapter 6 – Environmental Hazard, collect the Tissue Sample from the Cryogenic Chamber. Step 1 – Scan Tissue Sample: Head into Main Lab and go downstairs to find a scanner. Use the tissue sample on the scanner and wait for the scan to complete. Step 2 – Find Harris’ ICU Bed: Head to Intensive Care Unit and play the recording at the back of the room, watch the full recording. Step 3 – Investigate Ore Storage: Once you arrive at Mining Deck in Chapter 7 – Into the Void, bypass the laser traps and head to the end of the corridor to enter Ore Storage. Move the crates in the corner and then interact with the log on the wall and listen to it to completion. Step 4 – Find Report on the Bridge: Head back to the Main Atrium on Bridge Deck and interact with the panel on your right as you enter the atrium. Listen to the full recording. Step 5 – Investigate Hydroponics: Go to Hydroponics Deck and head through West Grow Chamber to reach Diagnostics Lab. Head into the back room and grab the final recording. |
||
Whole Again Pursue Nicole’s investigation. |
||
For this you will need to complete the side mission Scientific Methods. This can be started in Chapter 2, and can be completed as early as Chapter 10. This can be completed at any point before leaving the USG Ishimura at the end of Chapter 11. If following the Dead Space Remake Collectibles Guide, this will be done along the way with minimal backtracking.
Side Mission Start – Scientific Methods: In Chapter 2 – Intensive Care, after clearing the quarantine in Main Lab, head inside Dr. N. Brennan’s office downstairs to find a log on her desk. Pick it up to start the mission. Step 1 – Investigate Emergency Room: After destroying the blockade and accessing the Emergency Room, there will be a hologram of Nicole that you can start by activating a panel. Watch the hologram to completion to see where Nicole goes. Step 2 – Follow Nicole’s Hologram: At the circuit breaker, enable the left breaker for the showers. Then use kinesis to move the wall revealing a hidden room. Head inside and grab the log to continue. Step 3 – Find Autopsy Location in Engineering: Upon arriving in Engineering in Chapter 3 – Course Correction, head downstairs into the Machine Room. Enter the Calibration Room at the back of the room and watch the recording of Nicole. Step 4 – Find Kyne’s Mining Deck Hideout: In Chapter 7 – Into the Void, head down the mining elevator to Deck D: Maintenance. Go through to Equipment Supply on the west of this area. Set the circuit breaker to Storage 02 and enter to a log on the floor. Grab it to continue. Step 5 – Investigate Mercer’s Quarters: In Chapter 10 – End of Days, when you have to go to the Deluxe Quarters to destroy the second tendril, head inside Guest Consultant’s Suites. After the conversation, head into the back room and activate the panel for a final hologram. |

Completing the game on Impossible will unlock the Burnished Suit and the Hand Cannon for New Game Plus. Do note that Impossible isn’t available on New Game+ by default. You will have to do Impossible in a New Game without your upgrades from previous playthroughs. Impossible can only be started in NG+ after already having beaten Impossible in regular New Game. Below is the recommended loadout for completing Impossible:
You will only want to use these weapons, the others you can ignore completely. There will be enough nodes/credits to fully upgrade all four weapons as well as your suit. Below are several tips that will help complete Impossible easier:
Infinite Money Exploit (works as of January 31, 2023 but may be patched in the future):
|
||
Trusted Contractor Complete New Game Plus on any difficulty mode. |
||
Upon completing the game, you will unlock New Game Plus. In New Game Plus, everything you collected will carry over (can be collected from the Shop). Enemies will get stronger and you will also encounter Phantom variants of necromorphs, which are stronger versions of the regular ones. During this playthrough make sure to finish fully upgrading all your weapons and suit, as well as find all the Marker Fragments required for the new ending. If you like, you can do this playthrough on Hard difficulty to better prepare yourself for Impossible difficulty.
Full Arsenal Own every weapon in the game. |
||
There are 9 weapons in the game, many of which you will encounter through normal progression. Some are in optional side rooms that require Security Clearance to access. You will have access to all weapons by Chapter 6.
|
||
Built To Order Install every weapon upgrade. |
||
There are 21 weapon upgrades in the game, 3 for every gun. These upgrades will unlock a new path in the upgrade menu, as well a new ability to be unlocked. To install a weapon upgrade, simply visit a workbench with one in your inventory. You will also get an extra node for each weapon upgrade that you install. In order to get all weapon upgrades, you will need both Security Clearance Level 3 and the Master Override key.
Autofire Kill 30 enemies with the Pulse Rifle. |
||
Simply kill 30 necromorphs with the Pulse Rifle. You will want to do this on New Game Plus when you’re not doing your Plasma Cutter Only playthrough.
Live with the Hot Ones Kill 30 enemies with the Flamethrower. |
||
Simply kill 30 necromorphs with the Flamethrower. You will want to do this on New Game Plus when you’re not doing your Plasma Cutter Only playthrough.
A Cut Above Kill 30 enemies with the Ripper. |
||
Simply kill 30 necromorphs with the Ripper. You will want to do this on New Game Plus when you’re not doing your Plasma Cutter Only playthrough.
Pusher Kill 30 enemies with the Force Gun. |
||
Simply kill 30 necromorphs with the Force Gun. You will want to do this on New Game Plus when you’re not doing your Plasma Cutter Only playthrough.
Eviscerator Kill 30 enemies with the Line Gun. |
||
Simply kill 30 necromorphs with the Line Gun. You will want to do this on New Game Plus when you’re not doing your Plasma Cutter Only playthrough.
Full Contact Kill 30 enemies with the Contact Beam. |
||
Simply kill 30 necromorphs with the Contact Beam. You will want to do this on New Game Plus when you’re not doing your Plasma Cutter Only playthrough.
One Gun Beat the game using only the Plasma Cutter. |
||
For this you must finish a playthrough with only ever shooting the Plasma Cutter weapon and no other weapons. You are allowed to use melee and kinesis kills. For example, stomping enemies or throwing explosive canisters or shooting explosive canisters with the plasma cutter is fine. Just don’t shoot with any other weapon.
The Plasma Cutter is the first weapon you will unlock. Despite being the first weapon, it is one of the most powerful weapons in the game, so completing the game with only this isn’t too difficult. You can collect and upgrade the other weapons if you like, as long as you don’t fire them you won’t void the trophy. It is best to immediately put any weapons you find into storage so you don’t get ammo for weapons you can’t use, and also to save space in your inventory. The one exception to this is the Force Gun, as keeping this in your inventory means you can collect Force Gun ammo, which will sell for 6,000 in a full stack, which will be helpful in the long run. Focus on fully upgrading your Plasma Cutter during this playthrough, as well as your Suit. As you can play on any difficulty, doing this on Story or Easy will make it very manageable. |
||
Pack Rat Place 25 items in Storage. |
||
Throughout the game you will find Shops, which will allow you to store as many items as you want. Simply put 25 items into Storage to unlock this.
Story Teller Collect 75 Logs. |
||
See Legend Teller . | ||
Legend Teller Collect 150 Logs. |
||
There are 188 logs in the game, you will need 150 of them. These can be obtained automatically through the story, or by physically picking them up or triggering them. You will get over 100 as part of the story, so you will only need to collect ~50 of them for this.
Merchant Collect all Schematics. |
||
Schematics are collectibles that will unlock an item for purchase in the Shop. There are 13 schematics in the game, but the trophy will pop after only collecting 12 of them. This is because one schematic is located in Chapter 9, which is missable, meaning you can obtain the trophy without worrying about missing it.
Marksman Dismember 50 Limbs. |
||
See Surgeon . | ||
Surgeon Dismember 500 Limbs. |
||
The basis of the combat in Dead Space revolves around dismembering limbs from Necromorphs, so this will come naturally during your first playthrough. Always target limbs rather than shooting at centre mass when fighting.
Wishbone Rip off a dangling limb using Kinesis. |
||
In order to rip off a limb, you will need to weaken a limb first by shooting it, then use kinesis to rip the limb off. You can also rip limbs off dead Necromorphs after killing them.
Raise The Stakes Pin an enemy. |
||
In order to pin an enemy, you will want to use kinesis to grab a metal bar and launch it at a Necromorph. This will fling them into a wall and pin them, killing them instantly. Metal bars will appear around the game with light-blue ends indicating they can be grabbed.
Freeze Use Stasis on 50 enemies. |
||
Simply freeze necromorphs with stasis 50 times. This can be farmed at any location with a stasis station, as you can constantly refreeze necromorphs and restore your stasis. However this shouldn’t be necessary, as you will likely get this naturally.
Backbreaker Kill 10 enemies with a stomp attack. |
||
In order to stomp on enemies, you will need to press . This trophy is a bit misleading as you cannot simply stomp any necromorph and have it register. It will only count when stomping necromorphs that can be killed with a single stomp. Some examples of these are the babies that spawn when shooting a Pregnant in the stomach, the small enemies that spawn from Guardians (the 5-tentacled wall necromorphs), and the body parts that fall off the Divider necromorph. You can farm this on the spawns from the Guardians by letting one spit them out constantly until you get it.
Maxed Out Fully upgrade all weapons and equipment. |
||
In order to unlock this, you will need to unlock all weapons, their respective weapon upgrades, upgrade your suit to level 6, and then fully upgrade them all at the workbench with nodes. This process will require 189 nodes, which will require going into New Game Plus to achieve. Spread throughout the game are 59 nodes to collect (from node cabinets and drops from Brutes), and you will get one from all 21 weapon upgrades, and you will also get an extra 10 nodes for completing the game. This means from a full playthrough you will get 90 nodes.
You can recollect the regular 59 nodes again in New Game Plus, so the remaining 42 nodes you will need to buy from the Shop, which cost 10,000 credits each. Therefore it will cost 442,000 credits to buy the remaining nodes, and 224,000 credits to unlock all the suit upgrades, for a grand total of 666,000 credits. This may sound like a lot, but as long as you are being thorough you will easily get enough credits across both playthroughs. If you want to get this sooner or not feel obliged to re-collect all nodes on New Game Plus, you can keep the Force Gun in your inventory alongside one other weapon, so you can maximise the amount of Force Gun ammo you receive. A full stack of Force Gun ammo will sell for 6,000 credits, which is significantly more than any other ammo type. If you’re still short on nodes/credits at the end of New Game Plus, you can begin another playthrough to finish it off. |
||
Front Toward Enemy Survive the Shooting Gallery. |
||
Missable! The Shooting Gallery is located on the USM Valor in Chapter 9. On your way to salvage the Singularity Core, this room will be to your right. Go inside and interact with the panel to start the Shooting Gallery. Ignore the targets, as after about 30 seconds a quarantine will start and a bunch of necromorphs will spawn in. Kill them all to unlock this. The lockers in the room will unlock after the quarantine, rewarding you with a node and a ruby semiconductor. |
||
Z-Baller Complete Level 6 in Zero-G Basketball. |
||
Zero-G Basketball can be found next to the Cafeteria in Crew Deck, first available in Chapter 10. You will need to use kinesis to grab and throw balls into the goals. Doing so will award you 5 points, or 10 points if that goal is glowing. You will get extra time for each level you complete. You will need to get a score of 220 to complete level 6. Starting from level 3, shutters will occasionally close on the goals, blocking them all. Reaching 220 points shouldn’t be too difficult however, as long as you focus on scoring in the glowing goals when they appear for extra points. Some Necromorphs will spawn when you first attempt this, so kill them off before properly attempting it. Upon completing level 6, the lockers in the cafeteria will unlock, rewarding you with various items and a node. |
||
There’s Always Peng! Find the Peng Treasure. |
||
Peng returns in the remake, but this time around the location has moved. Peng can be found in Cargo Bay, which you will access in Chapter 11. As soon as you go down the elevator, turn around. There will be some kinesis crates blocking a locker. Move the crates and open the locker to find Peng. Peng will sell for 30,000 credits. |
||
Full Clearance Create the Master Security Override. |
||
For this you will need to complete the side mission You Are Not Authorized. This can be started in Chapter 4, and can be completed as early as Chapter 10. This can be completed at any point before leaving the USG Ishimura at the end of Chapter 11. If following the Dead Space Remake Collectibles Guide, this will be done along the way with minimal backtracking. This mission is a bit different to the other two, as it simply requires you to collect 7 rigs (1 of which is story-related), and these can be done in any order and even without starting the mission. Completing this will reward you with the Master Security Override, which will allow you to open special rooms and chests that will contain weapon upgrades.
Side Mission Start – You Are Not Authorized: In Chapter 4 – Obliteration Imminent, when inside the Captain’s Nest interact with the console next to the logs on the right. You will need to find all Rigs and return them here. Rig 1 – Voelker’s Rig: Can be found in Chapter 3 – Course Correction, when floating outside on the Flight Deck. Float all the way along the left path of the Flight Deck, across from the Cargo Lift that leads to Engineering. Floating over here by an oxygen tank will be the rig. If you collect this after Chapter 3, you will need to access it through the Cargo Lift. Rig 2 – White’s Rig: At the end of Chapter 4 – Obliteration Imminent on Bridge Deck, at the end of the ADS section where you must manually sync them, found floating on a ledge to the left. Rig 3 – Holt’s Rig: Found in Hydroponics that you first access in Chapter 6 – Environmental Hazard. Upon entering East Grow Chamber, destroy the three corruption nodes on the left to reveal the rig on the ground behind the elevator. Rig 4 – Dallas’ Rig: Story-related. Automatically acquired in Chapter 7 – Into the Void. Collecting this will grant you Security Clearance Level 3. Rig 5 – Rousseau’s Rig: Available once you have Security Clearance Level 3. Head to Engineering and go to Fuel Storage. On the top floor, enter the locked room to find the rig. Rig 6 – Bailey’s Rig: In Chapter 8 – Search and Rescue, when you access Communications. In the Comms Control Room, enter E. Bailey’s office next to the save station. It is sitting on the desk in the back. Rig 7 – Benson’s Rig: In Chapter 10 – End of Days, on the Bridge. Head through the Crew Deck door to the Tram Tunnel, and head under the stairs. On the ground will be Benson’s Rig. Side Mission End: Return to the Captain’s Nest under the Main Atrium. Use the Rigs on the Bridge Security console to create the Master Override. |
||
Brute Force Kill a Brute. |
||
Story-related. Cannot be missed. You will encounter multiple brutes throughout the game, the first encounter occurring in Chapter 4.
Exterminator Kill the Leviathan. |
||
Story-related. Cannot be missed. You will fight the Leviathan at the end of Chapter 5. In order to defeat it, shoot the weak spots on its tentacles when they are exposed. Eventually it will start spitting out explosive clusters at you, which you can kinesis and throw back in its mouth. Continue attacking the mouth with these clusters, the explosive canisters in the area and your guns until it is defeated.
Get Off My Ship! Kill the Leviathan Remnant. |
||
Story-related. Cannot be missed. You will fight the Leviathan Remnant at the end of Chapter 8. In order to defeat it, you will need to take control of the three ADS cannons in the area (left, middle, right) and shoot the exposed weak points. While controlling an ADS cannon, simply walk left to right while shooting the weak spot until it is destroyed. Occasionally the Remnant will release a wave of spiky balls that you will want to avoid. While using the third ADS cannon, it will get destroyed before you finish the weak spot, so simply use your weapons and kinesis to finish it off.
Mindless Prey Kill the Hive Mind. |
||
Story-related. Cannot be missed. You will fight the Hive Mind at the end of Chapter 12. At the beginning, shoot the five weakspots around its mouth while avoiding the tentacles and the explosive clusters that it shoots out. After destroying them, a wave of necromorphs will be release, kill them all. The Hive Mind will now alternate between spraying out poison blocking your path, and slamming down its tentacles before exposing five more weak spots on its chest. Simply avoid the poison/tentacles by walking left and right until it is exposed and destroy a weak spot. After destroying all five weak spots, you will be grabbed by a tentacle. Now shoot the final weak spot on its mouth until it dies.
Marked Pick up a Marker fragment for the first time. |
||
See Reunion . | ||
Reunion See the alternative ending on any difficulty mode. |
||
In order to unlock the new alternative ending, you will need to be in New Game Plus. In New Game Plus, there will be a new collectible called Marker Fragments. There will be 12 of these around the game, 1 in each chapter except Chapters 5/10 which have 2 each, and Chapters 9/12 which have 0. Once you have all Marker Fragments, you will need to go to Captain Mathius’ office in Executive Chambers in Crew Deck and place them on the pedestals on the table. Now continue to finish the game to see the new ending. |

Thanks a lot for the guide. Looks like it will require some work to get this, which is nice.
Not sure if I will do it in 2 playthroughs, will see.
TM says
One question though, is it not faster to do impossible and plasma cutter first. Then in new game + you will have the “hand cannon” which is the foam finger weapon right?
Then just blast you’re way through the ship. After weapon trophies ofc. This will save ammon which would get credits faster.
Archavia says
If you are very good at the game it is faster, just not personally recommended, especially for people who never played the original game.
Mirko 83 says
you are always the best powerpyx thanks for your guides ❤️
Mattoelite1 says
Would it be ok to do a regular first playthrough, plasma cutter on NG+, and then impossible? I guess my only concern is I’ve never played Dead Space (any of them) and I feel like just using the one weapon on that first playthrough might ruin the experience somewhat. Thoughts?
Russ says
I don’t think it will, the Plasma cutter is honestly my favorite weapon and what really sets the game a part compared to others. Plus you can still use stasis in it, so you aren’t missing out on much of anything.
Archavia says
While not tested, I assume it will pop just fine doing this. Just note that NG+ will be harder than NG due to stronger enemies and phantom variants, but if you do it on Story/Easy it should still be fine with only Plasma Cutter.
Stemachine says
For enjoyment purposes can you not do the plasma cutter run on NG+, but do the first play through as you want?

That’s seriously the worst thing they could have done with Impossible mode. Instead of giving us an actuall challange and nerve wracking but insanely fun experience like Hardcore in DS2 did. They do this stupid thing. What’s the point in permadeath if they just knew people will “cheat” to get it. Sure it can still be Done the real way, it’s too tempting not to quit when you are about to die. I’m kinda sad they did this. I’m not gonna go for platinum this time. I will enjoy the hell out of this game on regular hard. But this take on permadeath is just not fun nor rewarding. They should do with limited manual saves or like Wolfenstein 2 did it with Mein Leben. Those 2 were actually fun and you DID! Had to learn the game inside out to be even able to try to beat it.
Archavia says
I disagree about being like Mein Leben, as the game is simply too long for a single-sitting playthrough for many people (for comparison Mein Leben was about 2-3 hours, my Impossible run on this was 9 hours), but I wouldn’t’ve minded if they opted for the 3-save method that they used for Hardcore on Dead Space 2. Don’t forget though, there’s no obligation to use save back ups on Impossible if you don’t want to.
Zibson88 says
Never played it that’s why I think I will do 3 playthroughs. 1st on normal blind, 2nd hard collectibles and other trophies Ileft and 3rd impossible

Are you sure collectibles are not missable? I’m on chapter 1 and stasis door never popped when I picked up the stasis upgrade. I’ve went back to the door and it’s not popping
PowerPyx says
Some of the conditional ones tied to intentionally doing wrong stuff may be missable but there are only around 6 such logs in the game and it doesn’t affect the trophy (you only need 150/188 logs for trophy purposes). But technically yes, a very small amount of logs tied to action-dependent dialogues that you get via calls are missable, will update this.
Joe says
Collectible #37 is missable because if you go back to the hangar bay after it will not be zero G anymore and you can’t get it again.
Collectible #44 is also missable. I know the guide says automatically gained from the story but I didn’t get it after finishing chapter 3.
Archavia says
You can still get #37 later on, Zero G is not required, can just stand in the same spot and kinesis it. As for #44, not sure about that one, I had it trigger on all 3 playthroughs so might be a weird glitch introduced from a patch.

Thank you for the trophy guide. I’m glad that the Platinum Trophy difficulty isn’t harder than a 6/10 but I do dislike the fact that I can’t play Impossible Mode on New Game Plus from the moment I finish my 1st playthrough. Also, I want to be able to use any weapon I want in my 1st playthrough, so I’ll probably do the Plasma Cutter run on New Game Plus as my 2nd playthrough.
However, EA are way too greedy charging £69.99 for this on PS5/Xbox Series, but £49.99 on Steam. It’s a remake that should just cost £40/£50 maximum on all platforms.
Mattoelite1 says
To your first comment, thats where I’m at. Never played DS before, I think it’ll be a much funner experience using all weps the first playthrough.
Leonhart says
To be fair, games that are released for the PS5 will cost $70 for the standard edition so I wasn’t really surprised.
Creasy007 says
Thanks again as always, PowerPyx! Might take it safe and do the three playthrough route here. Don’t want to start off with Impossible Mode since I’ve not played this since the 360 days.
yip says
Would it be a good idea to carry Line Gun so it’s ammo drops, then you can sell it? Also will there be videos for collectibles? Thanks!
Ashande says
It’s not a bad idea to lug around a second weapon to get ammo drops to sell, but I wouldn’t recommend the line gun. Contact Beam or Force Gun is worth more.
Z90 says
Just curious, do the cheats from the original ’08 game work? And if so, would they even void the trophies?
Not one to use cheats except in instances to fool around, but if Impossible difficulty is set up that way (which is asinine) I’d rather just use those cheats to get an edge to get the trophy. They aren’t fool-proof, but it’s better than having to die every few minutes in some areas, have my saved revert to hard, and go through the hassle of re-uploading a backup via PSN.
PhantomFear94 says
Also curious about this!
Archavia says
I tested the cheats from PS3 and none of them worked. There might be cheats still, just not with the same codes.
PhantomFear94 says
Thank you for checking!
Macleod says
When you unlocked the hand cannon, it will available if you choose to start a new fresh game?
Romeo says
Is there a reason you do the Plasma Cutter run on your first playthrough and not NG+? Would it not be just as easy to do it on NG+ and have a normal first playthrough
Ps gamer says
Bro I’m confused. You say you can have infinity saves on one slot. then the next minute you say. If you die you lose your save. Bro I don’t get what you mean. One sec you got infinite save. The next sec you say you lose your save. Sorry bro. But to me you’re not making sense.
Also I think people are forgetting that there are some real hard parts in the game that are not boss fights. This impossible mode won’t be easy. I think a 7.5 out of 10 would be more accurate for platinum rating.
Archavia says
You can save over your save slot as regularly as you like, meaning it’s not a single save for the entire game. But you cannot rotate through multiple save files, so you cannot create back up saves that way. Dying converts your save from Impossible to Hard. The rating was based off my experience doing Impossible on my third playthrough, which is what the guide is written based off. If you don’t have access to PS+ to create save back ups (or choose not to), it might be higher than 6, I just guesstimated that. However if doing it on a third playthrough I don’t think it’s too bad even without it, as you will be very familiar with the game. I didn’t end up dying at all on Impossible, and if you get close to death you can always pause and quit out and continue from where you saved last.
PhantomFear94 says
Can I ask how comparable Impossible mode is to – say – Maximum Security on Callisto? Didn’t play Dead Space 1 on anything other than easy difficulty back in the day.
Archavia says
Definitely easier, I remember dying a few times on Callisto Maximum Security, but I didn’t die on Impossible. However with the possibility of losing your save Impossible might be more nerve wracking, though of course you can back up with PS+ or simply quit out if/when you die or are close to it.
Dmn says
Thanks for the guide, if you don’t have PS Plus, can you do it with USB? Or does it just work as you say?
Archavia says
PS5 save files cannot be backed up to USB unfortunately, only PS+.
jo says
can you farm the weapons kills?
Frankstar says
Yes. Easiest method would be with the “wall-tentacle-dudes” and their spawns.
OJD says
Nice guide. And congratulations on being the first to get the platinum.
TM says
Good luck guys, going for 2 playthroughs here. I may ditch the side quests on the 1st run, just to limit some fighting.
And also running around with the hand cannon will be fun. I dont think i would test it as much if I had to do a 4th run.
See you on board fellow engineer’s
Rizk777 says
Any tips on wishbone? Can’t seem to pop it. Does difficulty help?
Archavia says
Force Gun strips layers of flesh off Necromorphs, so shooting one with that one or twice should be enough for you to rip a limb off. It’s probably easier or lower difficulties due to Necromorphs having more health on higher difficulties.
Danh729 says
I tried the Force gun method and it still doesn’t work for me
Drew says
So I did it seems the tendon doesn’t show up that well it will look like a floating arm just tap with pulse rifle a few times, and it will detach then tap use kinesis to remove/catch the arm find a good save spot to reload at, tons of random encounters in hallways.
yip says
I found the best place to do it is in Medical – Main Lab – Changing Room. There is a save point and a few empty black suits hanging there. I tried pulling a leg with kinesis and got it.
Sergio says
I think this is somehow glitched for some people, i can’t get it and i tried everything….
Sergio says
Nevermind, i tried to pull one of those legs in Medical and i got it too, but that’s crazy that other methods didn’t work for me…
Guido says
Dismember 500 Limbs.
Are they cumulative between first game and new game +?
Guido says
To dismember the limbs, do I just have to shoot or does it count when I step on them too?
Archavia says
Not sure if they carry over to NG+, I would assume so, but unless you actively avoid shooting limbs you’ll get this naturally.
Guido says
If I shoot the remaining limbs after the enemy is dead, do they still count?
Adam says
Can you still use the stasis module for the only plasma cutter play through or not
Archavia says
Yes, you can use stasis, kinesis, melee and all environmental hazards. You just cannot fire any of the other 6 guns.
LuBulegend92 says
I have a question. If you know when you’re about to die you can quit and load the save. Ok, but if you are in the middle of the death animation, can you still do that? Especially if you have an instant death like when you walk on the air platform (you will fly up to the ceiling and die) or the big rotating machine. If those kill you instantly, can you still pause, quit the game before the screen fades black and still do the Impossible run?
Archavia says
Yes the window between dying and it wiping your save is pretty lenient, so as long as you’re quick it should be fine. I’m not sure if that’ll be the case for every possible death (some deaths might be very quick), but for the most part it should be possible.
Pedro says
Can i do the first run on eays mode, and ng+ on impossible mode and still get all dificulty trophies related?
Archavia says
No, you cannot do NG+ on Impossible unless you completed the game on Impossible.
mark1246 says
Quick question,
For NG+ stuff, let say I beat Impossible for my first playthrough,
For the NG+ Playthrough, can I choose any difficulty for NG+ or just only Impossible NG+ mode?
2. If it only Impossible NG+ chosen only, if I do and it lower it to hard, is it HARD NG+ mode or regular hard mode & it doesn’t count for the NG+ mode trophy? thanks
Archavia says
Yes you can do any difficulty when going into NG+ from an Impossible. So if you do a regular Impossible playthrough first, you can blitz through NG+ on Story/Easy with Plasma Cutter Only. If you do Impossible Plasma Cutter, you’ll be able to use the Hand Cannon you get from Impossible for your NG+ run.
Cameron says
Thanks for the guide and tips! Excited to play this game and once again not touch any weapon at all besides the Plasma Cutter. I guess I can play around in NG+ with other weapons and hand cannon, but I’m definitely doing Impossible first. For new players, the Plasma Cutter is actually really great and the most versatile/best all-around, and if you have no other weapons all the ammo you get is for the Plasma Cutter only which makes things even easier. But if you never played before, I would probably recommend exactly what the writer did as well.
Arkonite says
Just a message to thank you for this guide which seems very exhaustive and precise. And congratulations to you for being the first to plat it 🙂
The original game is seared in my memory and is one of my favorite video games, I can’t wait to dive into this remake and feel again all the feelings I had back in 2008.
Dark69knight says
Did anyone test One Gun on NG+ to confirm if it can be unlocked or not ?
Silvia says
For the dismember limbs trophy, do those I dismember dead enemies by trampling count as well?
Leon says
I believe it only counts for enemies that are still alive and you shooting the limbs off.
Mike says
How are you able to play impossible mode on first playthrough? My game only has hard as the hardest and I read impossible unlocks after beating the game on hard difficulty first?
Mike says
Nevermind, after starting for the first time trough the first cutscene, I had to start a new game and then had the Impossible difficulty.
Ryan says
Wait how do you unlock impossible mode??
Lucas says
For the “Kill 30 enemies with X weapon” trophies, an easy way to farm kills is to find a Guardian (the tentacled enemies that are bound to the wall). As long as you don’t kill them, they endlessly spawn/spit out small stationary necromorphs (the little one-tentacled things). You can just stand near them and kill as many as you need for the relevant trophies. They are extremely easy to kill with any weapon.
The first Guardian you encounter is towards the start of Chapter 5. You can get a few of the weapon trophies out of the way there. If you need more ammo for whatever gun you’re using, you can backtrack through the hallway to get back to the store and buy ammo there. There’s also a save station in this room so you can make a save there before farming kills, and then reload when you’re done so you don’t actually lose your credits/ammo. There’s also a Stasis Refill station in the hallway which you can constantly use in between killing and restocking on ammo, as using stasis on the little stationary enemies can make it a little safer/easier.
I’m only on Chapter 7 atm, but there were 3 or 4 more Guardians between Chapter 5 and 6, and I imagine there are more in the later chapters as well. Only weapon trophy I have left to earn is 30 kills with the Force Gun, which I think I’ll probably earn naturally anyway before I even find the next Guardian.
BodyChipper says
There is the spot right at the beginning of chapter 8 where you will come across two guardians in the same room with a save point just before them, plus there is a bench and store just prior to this room in the Main Atrium. Just stand in between them while facing the wall they are on and shift left and right killing tentacles. Each weapon then only takes 3 or 4 minutes.
Jacob Groves says
Hey One Gun achievement / trophy question
If mistake using other weapon and shoot at enemy then reload last save will it still count or not void?
max says
can you still pickup and upgrade the other guns during your plasma cutter only run? i was unsure if you just cant fire a gun or if having it equipped in a d-pad slot voids the trophy?
PowerPyx says
Yes collecting/upgrading other guns is fine, just don’t shoot with them.
Irwynn says
This game is a wagon of glitches. Run into a critical glitch in chapter 12 – Restore Power to Junction is glitched and source of energy don’t spawn. Can’t fix it. I’ve been playing for 3 days just to get f.

my maxed out trophy bugged, anyone else having this problem?
SwolRadguy says
I’m having this problem too
Michelle says
Yup. I put in every node and no trophy. PS5 version.
X says
Did you buy level 6 suit?
Anto says
If it is bugged you have to complete the side mission where it gives you a stasis upgrade
2bNs says
I want to collect all availaible data logs, but i’m still missing three entries in the “side missions” tab in NG+.
Does anyone know how to get the last three entries? Will they unlock by the alternative ending?
Archavia says
Those are unknown currently, as you don’t get the from completing the alternative ending or for completing Impossible mode.
Entryx89 says
I’ve a question regarding the Impossible Run and NG+:
My first run is on medium difficulty. After that, I would start a new game on Impossible. Once this finished, I would use my first Savegame for NG+. Ist the final suit upgrade also available for this save or not?
Cherie says
My game glitched on the synthesizing enzyme in chapter 6 and won’t let me get the enzyme out of the machine. Super frustrating
PhantomFear94 says
Had this problem too, had to re-load a manual save from around 5-10 minutes earlier and was fine.
Davidon42 says
Can you start Ng++ after completing Ng+? In case I don’t get enough credits to upgrade everything to maximum
Archavia says
Yes you can go into NG+ as many times as needed for upgrades.
Marcao_vap_2 says
Thanks PP, such detailed guide, and also the colectibles guide is awesome, so detailer and I didn’t even needed to look at the video, which is also a great option.
Too bad I can’t use everything from medium difficulty to start impossible mode LoL
Lacek84 says
Wisbone was a pain in the ass. It definitely glitched.
Danh729 says
How important are the collectible nodes? Just that I have all the schematics and weapon upgrades now but I suspect I am missing a few of them.
Archavia says
You will need 180ish nodes overall to fully upgrade your suit and all weapons in NG+, so collecting as many nodes as you can will reduce the amount of nodes you will need to buy, but there are more than enough credits to acquire throughout the game that you can afford to miss some nodes and still buy the remaining ones with credits. Worse case scenario if you still haven’t fully maxed out everything in NG+, you can go into NG++.
Sergio says
I’m not sure if I understood well the PS+ fact. Actually I have to disable auto sync and manually backup the save, but to do this i have to close the game everytime I would save… Isn’t a waste of time? (don’t know if you understand me, I’m not a native English speaker)
Charlie says
Wouldn’t it be better to go for One Gun Trophy on a second Hard playthrough? That way you’ll have a fully upgraded, or close to it, Plasma Cutter and you can get all the other weapon kill Trophies on a first playthrough with the medium setting.
Archavia says
It’s entirely optional depending on how you want to play. Enemies in NG+ are stronger, and depending on what you upgrade on your first playthrough your Plasma Cutter might not actually be upgraded much. Either way though I don’t think it really matters too much, I only did it on first playthrough as wasn’t certain whether Impossible could be done on NG+ or not. If you’d rather do a first playthrough experiencing all the weapons, then go for it.
Ryan says
Can someone explain to me how do you unlock impossible difficulty??
yip says
Great guide, don’t think it was that difficult, though. My first Dead Space game and platinum in ~37 hours. Story ~13.5 hours, Hard NG+ ~10 hours, Impossible ~13.5 hours. I would have skipped the first playthrough and just done Impossible from the start since it really doesn’t really help prepare you for the increased difficulty (not that it needs to since it’s not that hard!) But I guess it was fun farming kills with different weapons in NG+ (I finished with all weapons max upgraded and 420K credits). I would also respec and switch out the Pulse Rifle for either either the Flamethrower/Contact Beam or Ripper around chapter 9 since it’s damage isn’t that great and using any of those 3 weapons against the Stasis Soldiers(?) helped a lot.
Quinten says
Dont ask me how i glitched the impossible mode trophy…
I start the game in impossible mode – in chapter 3 i died… so i turn of my game asap… i played the game u til chapter and i see that my save file was broken and it was reset on hard. So i decide to fuck it and set it on normal mode… i beat the game and i recieved the impossible mode trophy…
Aaron says
I’ve read about this happening in some YouTube comments. I wonder if that’s a known glitch that will be patched.
Drew says
Can anyone test this?
PhantomFear94 says
Some people on PSNP have basically proposed this. Suppose not many people will test as it’s a completely wasted 8-10 hours if it doesn’t work. May test it after my NG+ Playthrough.
PhantomFear94 says
I’ll take one for the team to test this, will need until the 5th Feb so fingers crossed no more patches after 1.04. Shelving my NG+ run (on Ch. 4). I’ve purposely died after my first save on impossible, let it go to hard, and dropped the difficulty to story. In theory it should work, I don’t see why Medium would be any different – I’ve seen 4 reports of this now. I’ll do my weapon kills in this run too so it isn’t a complete waste if it doesn’t work lol.
If it does, I’ll try to message PowerPyx or Archavia if they don’t read this, as it’ll drop the difficulty to a 2/10. It’ll inevitably get patched if it works, like the Callisto exploit.
PhantomFear94 says
Someone else has reported story doesn’t work as of V1.04, but hard still does. Best guess is you aren’t supposed to change the save difficulty.
yip says
Yes you get the trophy but not the in-game rewards. But Impossible is not harder than Hard so you may as well do it “properly”.
Aaron says
I read some YouTube comments that claimed people tried and died on Impossible mode, continued the game anyway on Hard mode, and still got the Untouchable trophy upon completing the campaign. Can anyone here confirm this?
Leonardo says
I have no idea how to do the save in cloud exploit on xbox series s. Ok, I’m a newbie to the Xbox, but I got the game for xbox, so I decided to play on that console. I can’t seem to find the cloud storage to disable automatic sync and get the saves from there in I die. Could anybody help me with this?
PhantomFear94 says
For what its worth, I think quitting out is enough, but probably wise to do this once a chapter as a precaution. It’s a great trick to learn anyway, I do it for every game now in case there are any glitchy achievements for a game on launch.
It works differently on Xbox. Essentially, when you hard quit the game, you bank your cloud save. You then need to delete your console save ONLY in the case of death, which will quit you out and then when it resyncs, it’ll be from when you last “banked” your save. For example, if you close the game to “bank” a cloud save at the Start of Chapter 5, get mid-way through Chapter 6, die, and do the below method, when your re-start, you’d be at the start of Chapter 5 again and lose any progress after that.
Step 1 – Completely close the game to create a cloud save (need online connectivity, obviously). Cloud saves are only made when you entirely quit the application/game. Wherever you are in the game when you do this is where you’ll re-start if you need to re-sync your save at any point, so maybe do this at the start of each chapter or before a difficult/1HK section.
Step 2 – Re-load game, play on. If you ever die and need to revert to your cloud save, DO NOT QUIT THE GAME. Go to dashboard with game still open, go to Dead Space in your games & apps, press start over Dead space, manage game, delete save, delete console save ONLY (this is super important, deleting from everywhere will erase everything!!!!).
Step 3 – Game will have automatically quit. Re-start the game, it’ll resync your save automatically, and you’ll be back at where you quit out in step 1.
Giada says
If I’m missing credits or nodes after finishing New Game +, can I start another New Game + after the previous one to search for the ones I’m missing?
Candylobster says
The 1st marker is unobtainable if you dont get it the first time you see it. It literally disappeared and no amount of reloads do anything about it which means Im going to have to do a full extra playthrough just for that 1 marker for the last trophy…hugely annoying. Went in NG+ trying to find them bkindly and I thought I had to just come back after getting my kinesis.
PhantomFear94 says
A quick exploit to get infinite nodes. It’s tedious, but if you don’t want to have to constantly get nodes whilst playing during NG+ – or are still a ways off at the start of NG++, its an option. Saw this method online, so not my original idea. In 2.5 hours, I got about 300-350K credits this way whilst listening to some podcasts, and recommend you have some music or a podcast on in the background whilst you grind. Probably best to do this when you have maybe 2 weapons left to max out.
Step 1: Ensure you have a clip of line gun ammo, 5,000 credits leftover, and 11 nodes. You start NG+ with 10 nodes, so just pick up any node during Mission 1.
Step 2: Go to the Cargo Tram Station. This isn’t mandatory, but it’s an ideal location because everything is so close by and enemies do not spawn here. Also unlocks end of Ch.1/start of Ch. 2 (can’t remember which).
Step 3: Put all your inventory in storage except for your line gun.
Step 4: Go to by the workbench. When coming off the cargo tram, the store will be your left (opposite Pulse Gun corpse) and the save station/workbench will be through the first door to the right, by a lift. Refer to map if stuck.
Step 5: Fire your alternate ammo in your magazine (L2/LT + R1/RB), press R1/RB again over where you shot to convert it back to ammo, then pick it up with X/A. Rinse and repeat until your clip is empty. Do not reload.
Step 6: Go into the workbench upgrade menu. Go to line gun, and upgrade until you have upgraded a pink ammo capacity node. Do not upgrade any other nodes. Back out, and you’ll have both the ammo you pick up and an extra clip for free by upgrading the nodes! If you’ve already upgraded this path partially/entirely, you can reset your upgrades for that weapon for 5,000 credits.
Step 7: Rinse and repeat this until you run out of ammo capacity nodes under the Line Gun upgrade tree. To repeat, you must empty alternative ammo clip (will get higher each time you do this), pick up your ammo, do not reload when clip is empty, go to workbench, upgrade until next ammo capacity node and stop. Again, and again. You need 11 nodes total to get to all 6 ammo capacity upgrade following the most optimum route.
Step 8: After getting all upgrade nodes, go back to the shop and sell all your ammo for around 17,000 credits. Then, unload your 11-sized clip, go back to line gun upgrade tree, reset for 5,000 credits, and do it over (and over and over) again.
This ultimately gives you around 12,000 credits a run, if you include the 5,000 credits it takes to reset your skill tree each time. You can also do this with the Pulse Gun, but you get less credits per run. I earned 12K every 5 minutes, around 144K an hour, which is 14 nodes an hour.
4ipuxa says
Lets say you do the exploit.
How managable the Impossible difficulty run becomes. For example the guide says its 6/10 because duh clearly the run is the hardest thing to do without doing the exploit, whats out of 10 number if you do it to a max number of credits that can be spent.
Dix3n says
I can confirm that dying on impossible and continuing on hard still gives the Untouchable trophy on patch 1.0.4.
Aaron says
I saw someone above that they also died on Impossible, but after they died changed the difficulty from hard to medium before still getting the trophy.
X says
Now we need to know if it will work on medium
Ryan says
Did you unlock the foam finger gun and the suit as well or just the trophy???
Keeper333 says
Can i still get the foam finger gun if i use the impossible glitch method? Or just the trophy?
Anto says
Hello, so just to confirm, if I start the game on impossible and die after the first save file, the save file will be reverted to hard but I’ll still get the trophy? Has anyone tried with a lower difficulty?
Archavia says
Yes that is correct. People have confirmed that it works on Hard and Medium (though I’m not sure if that Medium confirmation was on the current patch or not), but someone also confirmed that Story doesn’t work.
Anto says
Is there any way to prevent the game to auto update itself? That way I can stay in the 1.04 until the end of the third run
Michael says
disconnect your ps5 from the internet
AHMED TALLAL says
(This means you can complete the game without worry of the save file being deleted)
You mean with this phrase you can complete the game without worry the save file being reverted to hard ??
X says
Isn’t hard difficulty the same as impossible but without the deleted save thing? How is the platinum difficulty 3/10 with the exploit?
Rotkiw00 says
Can I play Impossible mode on NG+?
Archavia says
No, you can only do Impossible on NG+ after completing the game on Impossible.
BodyChipper says
Figures this could use a small clarification in the guide: the Pack Rat trophy requires you to have 25 items in storage at one time, not simply put 25 items into storage, since you might take them back out and use them/sell them before you hit 25 total.
I could be wrong, but it only popped for me when I had 25 at one time.
BodyChipper says
Figured*
Zibson says
Just to confirm , So after I die on my impossible run and my save will be reverted to hard I can save whenever I want and auto save will work and will get that trophy at the end
Pn says
Hi
i was wondering if you do the impossible mode exploit ( the one mentionned, where if you die the saves revert back to hard but if you continue playing you still get the trophy to finishing on Impossible.)
Do you still get the hand canon and suit too?
Ashi says
No, you don’t.
You will get only suit level 6, some credits and nods but yes you will get Untouchable trophy
Phetikus says
No, it just acts like you’ve completed a new game on hard (credits, logs, final suit upgrade). You also can’t start a NG+ on impossible, it’s just glitch for the trophy.
Amirparsa says
Just to know
Can i do the plasma cutter only on my ng+ and do everything else on first playthrough?
X says
Yeah that’s what I did
Anto says
Can someone say if the difficulty can be changed to medium once you use the exploit for impossible difficulty and still get the untachable trophy??
Anto says
Of course I mean with the patch 1.04
Ramy says
I just beat the game by setting it to medium after starting on impossible and the untouchable trophy popped. This was done on patch 1.04.
I never made a manual save and relied on the auto-save, if that makes a difference.
Charlie says
Couple of questions. Firstly, the trophy for putting 25 items in storage. Does this mean having 25 items in at any one time or just putting 25 items in over the course of the game?
Secondly can the 30 kills with the weapons trophies be farmed with checkpoint restart, or do they only register after you next save?
Finally the Wishbone trophy can be cheesed. If you see a space suit hanging up, you’ll find them in a few places, using telekinesis on the leg of the suit then pressing R2 to blast it will unlock the trophy. Sounds bizzare but it’s true, that’s how I got it. Might take a few tries but it does work.
deathbunny says
I can confirm this works, I just did this in NG+ in Chapter 2. The room the Hydrazine Tank is in has some space suits hanging on racks. Just kinesis the leg of the suit by aiming and pressing circle, and then try to throw it with R2. It won’t go anywhere really, and I had to do it a few times on different suits to get it to work, I think it worked on like my 5th try.
BodyChipper says
You need 25 items in storage at one time. That’s when it popped for me.
X says
You must put 25 items all together at one time
Wiseguy says
Having issues with the marker collectables. Gone through every single one and collected them all but the table is only showing 11/12 markers. Gone through each marker again for a second and third time. Looked all around the areas and yet nothing.
deathbunny says
I had “Built to Order” bug out on me despite having all gun upgrades as well as the Prototype Stasis. I fixed it by putting all guns in my inventory, resetting all nodes, and then as I started putting nodes back in to try and pop it by making sure to activate all the special nodes, it just randomly popped while upgrading a random node on my 3rd or 4th gun.
So if Built to Order or the Maxed out trophy but on you, and you don’t have an old save, try resetting all the nodes with every gun in your inventory and placing them again.
John Brant says
If you do impossible glitch and die and continue on hard you get trophy for beating on impossible, but what about the rewards foam finger and the armor do get that as well or no.
ArtofficialGhost says
Another good tip for impossible difficulty is correct when you die, like before anything happens, exit and reload save. The only thing is to make sure you save at every save spot so you don’t have to redo many things.
You do need to upload saves for this.
hope this helps
Troozi says
This is what I’m currently doing, and then making a backup save to the cloud every chapter or two (just in case I’m too slow)
Zura says
Lowered it from hard to medium after the first death on impossible on patch 1.04, can confirm it does not work on medium now.
Salva says
Thanks man. I got to chapter 2 on Impossible changing to medium after death but didn’t know of it would work… now I know! Gotta start again
Lennie says
I must be lucky i died on lvl 1 Lowered it from hard to medium played to the end and got Untouchable i’m on patch 1.04
trei says
are you sure , some people writed that works ?
Tomes says
Thanks for doing God’s work.
Indinix says
For it to work, don’t we have to NOT manual save once we changed ro medium difficulty?
I read above that : starting on impossible, dying, lowering to medium and only relying on autosaves worked.
Can anyone confirm ?
Sausage Fingers says
Was the ‘Impossible’ exploit definitely confirmed to work on medium before patch 1.04? If so could those with physical copies still access the glitch if they rolled back to 1.00 by deleting and re-installing from the disc?
BodyChipper says
Others have confirmed it does not work on medium with v1.04. There is a good thread on psnprofiles about it on the game page. You can only lower the difficulty to hard and still get the trophy.
However, if you use the exploit to get the trophy you still won’t get the hand cannon or be able to play on NG+ on impossible and the difficulty of the enemies is still the same, so you might as well do it legit with the workarounds of reloading when you know you are going to die and backing up your saves to the cloud at regular intervals. Then you’ll have the hand cannon on all save files making your other NG+ run for the markers a cake walk.
ImpressAmbitious says
I’m also wondering this.
Guess I’ll go ahead and test it (really hope it’s not a waste of time).
Will report back.
ImpressAmbitious says
Okay, I tested this on PS5:
(TL;DR – Starting on impossible and then changing to medium does not unlock the trophy on v1.0)
-Uninstalled game, reinstalled off disc to version 1.0, *did not update*
-Started new game on Impossible Mode
-Died at the start and selected “Continue on Lower Difficulty” when prompted
-Game reloaded at last save point on Hard mode
-Immediately went into settings and changed difficulty to Medium
-Continued playingthe game as normal
-Upon beating the game there was no trophy unlock for Untouchable
trei says
hi all , so any can confirm that this method works on 1.04? die on imposible and continue on hard , and if i die on hard it will still unlocks trophy ? need normal answer ))) and works this on medium ?
just yes you can or not ,
Salva says
Start on Imposible on 1.04, die and continue playing on Hard. The trophy unlocked for me. Too many people say Medium doesn’t work. I didn’t try it myself, but people who say it works might be trolling. Keep going on Hard and you’ll get it at the end.
tokyobassist says
You should add file All Collectibles under missable. The schematic for the Large Med Pack is in Chapter 9 on the Valor which makes it inaccessible once the escape sequence starts.
I have to obtain it during NG+. Also worth having an aside for the One Gun trophy. It’s obvious but it should be noted for those trying to use the Plasma Rifle exploit will invalidate that trophy.
4ipuxa says
Basically left with the trophy for the Impossible mode.
I am wondering how to approach this?
Do i still need to collect every node and weapon upgrade and schematic? Maybe not all maybe some? Do i need to do the quest to open all security locked doors?
Like i played a little(repaired/replaced the tram car) and had a couple of enemy encounters,
i can tell they take much more damage, like for 1 enemy entire clip or so of Plasma Cutter.
Can already tell that the Stasis will be my best friend.
Like maybe i could do in some parts sprint like hell take a look if i can, than save, or if i take damage load save or something. I can pretty much guess that there not enough resources at the start of the game to kill every enemy.
Looks like the Hard difficulty will be an uphill battle for me.
Any advices? I am not too good with games that become hard by switching up the damage numbers.
Tnx.
BodyChipper says
Save often, save often, save often…like literally every time you can. Then when you do an encounter, learnt he enemy patterns, see if there are ways to do it better, reload, and try again. Ammo is really the crutch of a hard run. Abuse stasis when there are refills in the room and just stomp enemies till they are dead rather than shoot them. The first lockdown in medical is a great example, you can circle the pillar with the stasis refill and spam it while stomping and kinesis blasting every enemy and never fire a shot. Use environmental items all the time. You can break fan blades off in the little rooms and carry them with you to cut legs off easily if there is nothing else available. Some enemies you can even just run past or stand leave the area if you know you are never coming back there.
The plasma cutter is still the best weapon. Upgrade that and your suit first. Leverage the free ammo refills when you upgrade cap and do get the specials. At the end of chapter 3 I was hurting for plasma ammo, but honestly by the end of chapter 4 I was back on top and had tons more to go around and was much much stronger. The first few chapters and the end of the game are likely the hardest parts – the early parts bc you are underequipped, the end just due to the number of enemies.
Alex says
I’m still on 1.03, anyone know for sure if lowering it to medium will give the trophy?
PhantomFear94 says
Without being disrespectful, the person who originally commented this was either mistaken, and presumed that you revert to a lower difficulty (you don’t, you revert to Hard – which is what Impossible is, just with autosaves), or they were one of the few people who benefitted from it before V1.04.
In my opinion, the former is more likely, and I would strongly advise doing it legit, or sticking with the default hard it reverts you to upon death without ever changing it. Autosaves aside there is 0 difference, and hard mode isn’t that bad if its your 3rd run. Made a comment below about this, and this site has some great tips. Ended up being my favourite mode as a B- gamer when it comes to difficulty.
AHMED TALLAL says
i am on patch 1.04 and i lowered the difficulty from impossible when i died in chapter 1 to medium and i got the Untouchable trophy
Anon says
trophy guide info for schematics says you can miss the large health pack schematic and still get the trophy~
this is not true as I have 12/13 and still have not gotten it, I missed the large health pack but went back to all 12 other locations to make sure
PhantomFear94 says
Also worth noting that Med Health Pack schematics can bug out. I was lucky on my “main” playthrough, but when I was going through the game a 3rd time on impossible, I tried to collect all the schematics again in case I needed to make health kits and medium was categorically not there. I read on reddit others having similar issues.
Apparently, making a save before you expect to get a schematic and re-loading it worked for people, I realised too late on Impossible. Fortunately, didn’t impact achievements/trophies for me as I already had that one from NG1.
PhantomFear94 says
I personally did Impossible Mode legit, but numerous people on PSNP have confirmed only Hard works after dying on Impossible mode. This is the difficulty your save “reverts” to if you opt to not start over, and I believe you have to continue on hard without ever altering difficulty.
In my opinion, it isn’t worth it unless you accidentally mess up quitting out, as the difficulty is the same, it’s just the convenience of autosaves versus quitting out. I kept a close track of my save times, and the longest play-time I ever had between save times was 9 minutes. Seldom was there ever more than a 2-3 min gap between saves, and I only had to quit out 4-5 times (I’m not amazing, either). Be careful, cautious, prioritise Plasma/Pulse/Force/Line, collecting 75%+ of nodes, and you’ll be fine.
Syyko710 says
Sorry I know it’s been asked like a dozen times already lmao, but I’m still a little confused as to the whole “Impossible” difficulty exploit? So the glitch is so after dying it goes back to Hard but if you still beat it on hard you get rewarded for the Impossible run?
Axel says
I can confirm the Wishbone Trophy works with the „space-suit-glitch“ on 1.04. But only in one room I figured out.
Whilst you’re about to find the Hydrazine in chapter 2, you have to cross the big Zero-G Chamber. After that, there is one room where you find the Hydrazine. There are several Space-Suits hanging. Grab one (for me it was the one in the far right corner after entering the room) via Kinesis and „fire“ it. Do it several times on Arms and Legs of the suit to get the trophy.
4ipuxa says
Did the platinum today.
And i can say this. There is no need to do an extra playthrough,
its better to just start and complete the game on Impossible, farm the kills if you want,
use the Pulse Ammo exploit to gain a lot of credits, than do a second Plasma cutter walkthough with collectibles.
The only advice i can give for Impossible playthrough – SAVE, as ofter as possible.
I did the 3 playthroughs it was kinda boring when you cant skip cutscenes.
Marcao_vap_2 says
I tested it today (02.11.2023): Dying on impossible as we know change your difficulty to “hard” if you choose continue. If you then manually change difficulty to lower ones, yes, Untouched trophy will be blocked. Just finished the game after changing to “medium” and didn’t pop.
Better start a new gameplay on impossible, die and finish on hard before it gests patched XD
Darth says
The game is a real challenge for me even on medium I am to inpatient. Playing it for the third time on impossible lowered it to hard and lowered again to medium. The plan was to see what happened. Looks like autosave kicks in again what makes up for horrible spawnplaces. Deadloops.
Horrible feeling this is going to be a terrible last 2 trophies.
Starting from scratch on impossible is a no go.
Chris says
Has anyone that has done impossible then died and changed hard to medium change back to hard before final boss? Someone on psnprofiles died on first chapter and went to hard and changed to medium and before final boss changed it to hard and got the trophy. I am currently trying with my playthrough which I died on insane and played on hard till near end of chapter 2 and switched to medium. Gonna test this out as impossible/hard is too hard for my skills.
liveintheevil66 says
Okay, I’m sorry for making this comment, but I have no choice. I’ve been having a really rough time with this game. No, I’m not sucking (though I admit this is a lot more rougher than I was expecting, but fun nonetheless), but the game won’t…. stop… GLITCHING.
I lost all progress because I guess I died right as an autosave occurred, and thus was trapped on a loop of dying. The game forced to load an autosave, and I couldn’t access menus. Turning the game off doesn’t help, because it immediately loads that autosave before the game even starts, meaning I can’t load another save. Backup failed too. I deleted the system file, put the cloud file on… and it STILL happened even though that autosave didn’t exist (And instead I die while just standing at a savepoint).
Two playthroughs, gone like that. So, I decided to be bold and start impossible mode, since I had to start from scratch regardless. And… chapter 3 I’m doomed. I click continue, the menu reappears, and I click continue, and I’m frozen. I can’t move, and on Impossible mode, you can’t load game, meaning once more, I’m stuck. Don’t worry! Backup save didn’t work either! I was back at the beginning of the chapter, and I was stuck. Another playthrough gone.
Can this work on normal, because at this point, the goddamn thing hates me. I’m on 1.04 downloaded
AHMED TALLAL says
I swear i started the game on impossible difficulty and i died on chapter 1 and lowered the difficulty to medium and when i finish the game i got the Untouchable trophy and on patch 1.04
rtn says
did you create manual saves
did you revert difficulty back to hard right before ending the game (i.e. final boss)
where you died in chapter 1 to be exact
and what is your psn name as proof
need more variables to test.
Darth says
AHMED TALLAL Are you really sure you reverted back to medium?
Ryan says
Just to confirm , So after I die on my impossible run and my save will be reverted to hard I can save whenever I want and auto save will work and will get that trophy at the end???
Is It True??
Please answer thanks
Amini says
I was wondering if i can use other weapons to farm but NOT to kill on plasma cutter only run, would that ruin the run for me?!
Thanx
BodyChipper says
You can farm the 30 kills for the other weapons on a PC only run, just do not save afterwards. The beginning of chapter 8 is a great place for this. There are two guardians in the same hall that spit out those tentacle sacs which count as kills. There is a store in the previous room with a save point also nearby in the aforementioned hall. Make your save, then go back to the store and pull your other weapons and ammo, get 30 kills on the tentacle sacs, repeat for each weapon, then reload the save so that it never tracks the other weapons being used. You can also reload if you accidentally kill the guardians to respawn them, but I’m pretty sure it will reset the kill counter if you reload so get all 30 at one time, then do the next weapon. Obviously make sure you have enough ammo to get to 30, e.g. you’ll need at least 30 line racks to make 30 kills. but you can buy/sell as needed since you aren’t going to save afterwards anyway.
CharlieB says
Can’t seem to find an answer to this so I thought I’d ask here.
Do the enemy kills with each weapon carry over into NG+? So, just as an example, if I had, say, 20 kills with the Contact Beam by the end of playthrough 1 would the first 10 I killed with that weapon in NG+ unlock that trophy, or do they reset to zero?
Phill says
Impossible difficulty is nowhere near as bad as it sounds. As of patch 1.04 if you die you can quickly pause, exit to main menu and then continue. Seeing as there are loads of save points the most you tend lose is about 5/6 mins of time. Just save at every opportunity. The biggest issues with playing on hard or impossible is the amount of ammo you use. Monsters hit pretty hard and take a lot of ammo to take down. This means all the credits you earn gets spent on ammo and health. Stick with the plasma cutter and ripper until you get the force gun. Then switch to plasma and force gun. Don’t keep 4 guns as ammo drops are random and the plasma cutter really is the best overall weapon. Spend your nodes on suit, plasma and force gun. It’s more than doable. Don’t forget stasis is your friend on groups and fast enemies.
BodyChipper says
Kinesis is vastly underrated in Impossible mode and is a great ammo and credit saver as well. Take explosive canisters, pipes, rods, and fan blades with you at all times. Then use the claws of dead necromorphs to kill others when nothing else is left. Ammo and credits are especially needed in the early chapters, so abusing stasis and using kinesis for “free” kills is key to get an early stockpile going.
Ahmed Talal says
yes i created many manual saves i even overwrite the hard save
i died on the 1st waves of enemies and then lowered to medium and never reverted back to hard

Thanks for the guide.
Is it possible to use the Handcannon melee attack for the One Gun trophy playthrough and get that Trophy?
JL says
Hmm, can I do the infinite money exploit on a Plasma Cutter only run? I’m doing my first run on Impossible difficulty using only Plasma Cutter and was wondering if firing the Pulse Rifle grenades would count as using other weapons beside Plasma Cutter thus ruining my run?
Archavia says
I don’t believe so, no.
kuwantum says
No, even if you do not attack an enemy you are still going to use your alternate weapon firing mode on the rifle which will void “one gun” trophy.
JL says
Weird, Pack Rat randomly popped for me when I was checking out one of the audio logs in the menu. The audio log kept getting cut off and interrupted then before I knew it the trophy popped for some weird reason. Not that I’m complaining but it’s weird because when I went back to check my storage, I only had 22 items stored.
Darth says
Pack rat, It’s not weird because it’s glitched also on the good way it does pop out of nowhere.
leprekon666 says
I just did my run and changed to medium on chapter 2 in the morgue from hard which I changed from impossible mode when prompted to at the beginning after dying. Either ppl got lucky or they are trolling
Darth says
I finished the game from impossible. in chapter 4. I couldn’t handle it anymore reverted to hard. It’s still a bit easier because you can create a whole list of saves and I recommend backtracking (especially in the first chapters where your weapons are weak) if there is an area what contains a bunch of enemies like first 2 if you move forward there are another 4-5-6 enemies. You kill the first 2 and than go back to the save point. Make sure your not stuck in a dead sentence loop. It gives you more space to breathe and be strategic. Later in the game it becomes a lot easier with weapon upgrades. I only upgraded the suit. Plasma cutter, force gun(only one perk) and I found the contact beam very useful (upgrade that you will kill the end boss in one go) (don’t use the plasma cutter there) Did the glitch for suit lvl 5 in bridge but it doesn’t help because you have to upgrade lvl2-3-4 first. Happy plat everybody.
Darth says
Apparantely they patched it so disconnect from internet do not update! Glitch impossible to hard doesn’t work anymore Do not update!
Shane says
Can anyone confirm if the Impossible trophy will still work after dying and being reverted back to Hard? I messed up and didn’t close the game in time, made it to Chapter 8 and really don’t feel like starting over.
Angel says
Is the Impossible mode exploit still available after patch 1.05?
If it isn’t, can I still do it if I downgrade to 1.00 version?
PowerPyx says
If you own the physical disc version you can simply reinstall and disconnect the console from internet so it doesn’t download the patch. Then it should be version 1.00. With digital download you can’t downgrade because it auto-downloads the latest patch with the game.
Darran says
I’d like to know this too, I’m on chapter 7 atm and has been updated, don’t want to continue if it’s been patched out
Doka says
Should it not possible to make the digital version offline playable via Settings->User and Account->Other->Offline Game. In this case you can unplug your console from the internet. I think Dead Space is one of the Games which do allow this.
kuwantum says
Patch triggers when you launch the game (if you have auto-downloads disabled in console. settings). You can hit the PS button and cancel download each time to retain pre-patch versions and stay online.
Hesten says
Can confirm it won’t work
Angel says
With version 1.05 right? The exploit doesn’t work anymore right?
Do you know if it still works on 1.00? As PowerPyx said, I have the physical copy and I will be able to downgrade but I would like to know if the doló it works in 1.00.
kuwantum says
Anyone else frantically jumping to downloads to “cancel and delete” on the latest patch every time they launch the game? I’m on chapter 9 of impossible run and don’t want to risk it by having game patched – have not died yet but want to make sure I can finish this haha!
woody says
Just want to say for anybody struggling with or attempting impossible mode just use and only equip the Contact Beam as it’s easily the best weapon in the game and makes impossible mode a joke.
Darth says
Yes be sure to use the contact beam with some upgrades which makes the final boss fairly easy.
Remember if anybody is on patch 1.05 reverting back to hard doesn’t work anymore.
Darran says
Can confirm 1.05 has patched the impossible glitch. (Annoying as I was on chapter 10 when it was patched). Need to do it legit now
Tony says
If have disc version. Can just remove the install. Play on base level and save will still work on the older patch version. No need to restart from beginning of game.
Darran says
I should’ve said I’m on digital version so I have no option which version I play
H3NDRIXX says
You dont. Just pause and quit to main menu if you die, you get 3 seconds or so when the flatlining noise is going off. I finished it last night and died about 4/5 times and still got both my impossible and one gun trophies. (I am on newest patch).
annu says
in impossible glitch can i save multiple tym in hard mode or just single slot to save plz reply
Darth says
If your still on patch 1.04 yes you can create a whole list of saves reverting on hard. And do so because the game creates autosaves that are pretty risky at times if you stuck in a deathloop of enemies.
Angel says
In case anyone was wondering. If you have the disc version of the game and downgrade it to version 1.000 you can use the impossible mode glitch.
Aadxxs says
So on 1.00 after dying on impossible , revert to hard and continue ? Can the difficulty be changed to medium ?
H3NDRIXX says
You dont need a glitch for impossible mode. Just hit pause and quit to menu, any death gives you a good 3-4 seconds before the screen goes black. I finished it last night on my first run using only Plasma cutter and died 4/5 times during my playthrough. Also i recommend only plasma cutter on impossible as enemies and boxes will only have ammo for that gun if you dont have any of the others on you. If you can save health & ammo capacity upgrades for when your low or dont have ammo in your gun getting an upgrade will fill your health or ammo for free. Although ammo is a bit more awkward if your a serial reloader like myself :P
Haanzoo777 says
Maxed out trophy not popping even after all upgrades(suit and weapons) and getting the enhanced stasis module again on ng+……… everything is completely upgraded . Please help

For folks still doing Impossible mode runs, does pause/exit to the main menu still work upon deaths? Have seen people on Profiles saying it no longer lets them.

Does it work?

Yes, it does work, but you have to be quick to pause the game and exit to the main menu.

I have always loved PowerPyx guides, but this one is not very good. I found 10 marker fragments on my own, I still have 2 left to find. How can I do this using this guide? You didn’t include in-game marker descriptions, how can I find out which two I missed? I need to re-explore 12 locations… In short, you need to go through the game from the very beginning to the end with these guides.
PowerPyx says
Did you check the Marker Fragments guide? They all have map screenshots + video guide showing the map and area.
Also, when not following the Roadmap of course you will get a different outcome and need to backtrack. It’s pointed out correctly in Roadmap Step 2 to follow the Markers guide during the story and pick them up along the way. “I found 10 marker fragments on my own” sounds like you skipped Step 2 and did not follow the guide. You could have avoided the extra work by following the Roadmap. You can check which markers you found by pressing Y or Triangle to bring up the key items in the inventory screen. There’s no need to revisit all 12 locations, just the 2 you missed, which can be located using the maps provided in the Fragments guide.
