Destiny 2 Leviathan Eater of Worlds Raid Guide

December 8, 2017 by imbroken963 Leave a Comment

The Destiny 2 Raid “Leviathan, Eater of Worlds” requires the Curse of Osiris DLC to be played. The raid was released on December 08 at 10AM Pacific Time / 7AM Eastern Time.

It’s for power level 300 and 6 players (just like the Leviathan main raid).

How to Start Leviathan, Eater of Worlds Raid

In destination select, scroll to the top right corner “Nessus Orbit” where you also started the Leviathan raid. From here you can select the “Leviathan, Eater of Worlds” raid lair. It’s an additional lair to the main raid. It’s only a mini-raid (kind of a long strike), not as comprehensive as the main raid.

 Step 1: The Jumping Puzzle

After loading into the new raid head forward and through the open door in front of you. You will have to work your way down and into the Leviathan again to get to the Jumping Puzzle. You will know you are there because you will be on a dock and there will be a bunch of water around you in a reactor room. The reactors will spawn enemies on top throughout your jumping puzzle so make sure you bring a Scout Rifle to this fight.

Once at the start of the jumping puzzle you will notice that there is a platform at the end of the dock. To start the puzzle all you have to do is have someone jump on the platform. How this jumping puzzle will work is when someone lands on the platform another will appear and the person will then have to jump to the next platform and have someone take their spot on the platform. You never want to have two people on the same platform because it will cause the platform to sink, killing whoever is on it and cease progression. Platforms will also disappear if you stand on the same one too long. It will start to turn red and sink shortly after so speed is key. Pick an order and follow that order for who will take the next plate, keep an eye on the person you are following and always make sure to jump on their plate when jumping. The best way to tackle this one is to have the leader call out when they are jumping. This will let everyone know it is time to move to the next platform. The first set of platforms will be a straightforward and easy set of platforms. You will have to reach a reactor you can get on top of to trigger the next checkpoint. Once the checkpoint is triggered it will cause the platforms you used to get to it to come out of the water allowing safe passage for the teammates behind you.

Once past the first set of platforms take out the enemies of the reactor you are on and regroup. There will be a platform on the left and right side of this reactor. Locate them and group into groups of three and then determine the order you will jump. Both number 1’s will jump onto their platform and then one will either appear on the right side or the left. They will call out their side and to move up. Then the next platform will alternate to the other side.  Once both sides have spawned a second platform it will be RNG again which side spawns the next one. Continue this method until the platforms meet back up in which you will have to weave both sides into a single line again and make it to the next reactor.

Once on the next reactor take out the enemies again and come up with another order again. This time the path will split off in the middle causing numbers 4, 5 and 6 to take the alternate path while 1, 2 and 3 wait for the paths to come together but 4, 5 and 6 need to keep in mind that 1, 3 and 3 are all standing stationary and will have their platforms disappear. Once the paths meet back up have 1, 2 and 3 go first and work your way back into line to lead you to the next reactor.

Once on this reactor take enemies out for the final time. There will be one more set of platforms you will need to traverse and this one will require you to jump over teammates at points so communication and watching the number in front of you is critical here. Follow each other one by one and make your way through this final section of the jumping puzzle and communicating issues along the way. Once you get to the end platform stop and wait for anyone who might not have made it.

Step 2: The Assault

This part will pit your fireteam up against wave after wave of Cabal enemies. There isn’t much to say here but to use your supers and communicate issues with your team to make it through this phase. Rockets will take out the majors easily and always watch your back and your teammates’ backs. Survive the onslaught until the final wave is defeated. A chest will appear and reward you for your hard work. Collect your loot and head through to the next area.

Step 3: The Cylinder Room

This is another puzzle of sorts but your biggest enemy is time. You will head into a large open area where you can run on pipes. The first time you will hear a loud bang and get a wipe cue. The point of this room is to wait for the blinding light that comes with the wipe mechanic and head for a “safe haven”; these are little cubicles located along the path of pipes you are following (See picture below). Go from cubicle to cubicle to avoid wiping to the mechanic and press on into the next area.

Step 4: The Fall

Continue down the path until you get to the large cylinder that seemingly goes nowhere. Head into the cylinder and it will shoot you out into the void of the Leviathan. The goal here is to traverse the debris down to the bottom platform where you start the final encounter. Avoid the rocks as you fall down and jump through the rings in the air. There’s a bigger platform you can land on. Then to the left of that platform are some floating rocks you must jump on to reach the other side. If you die you will start back up at the top and have to start over. If only one person makes it to the end it will pull everyone else forward.

Step 5: Destroying the Shield

This is where the raid finally feels like a raid and presents a difficult challenge. When starting in the area you will notice there are 3 sections to the room and a giant object in the center of the room with a bunch of craters on it. Each section has a triangular set of three flames and each are a different color, one being Red, another Purple and the last one White. There are also Vex Craniums all around the arena. It will be best to break up into 3 groups of 2 for each color and designate a runner and a “baker”. The baker will take out adds and grab new craniums as they appear to bake them. This will make it so the other person can grab crystals and shoot them and have another one ready by the time they come back (the craniums charge automatically over time once you put them in the flames). There are only 6 craniums in play at any time and more spawn as the active ones get used. They have very limited ammo and each cranium can destroy 1.5 crystals (one and a half).

The point here is to grab 2 craniums (1 person per cranium) and bring them back to the fire of their colors.

Now on the huge shield (middle of the map) 3 colored crystals will spawn — red, purple or white. You will have to call out what colored crystals appear and what side of the room they are appearing on. You will need to shoot these crystals with the corresponding color Vex Craniums. As you destroy three another three will spawn. Continue destroying the crystals all the way around the rocky shield protecting the boss. Throughout this entire process, there will be enemies spawning all over so staying alive becomes difficult and a necessity because one person going down can delay the whole process resulting in the crystals exploding and wiping the team. There will also be cases where one color gets called very heavily to shoot crystals. Make sure when that happens there is someone giving up a cranium to help bake faster for the group getting hit heavily. The key to this encounter is to make sure there are constantly Craniums baking so the crystals can be shot in a decent time frame.

If you take too long one of the crystals in the middle will blow and wipe your team. You can see the crystals sparking as time goes on. The more sparks they have the closer they are to blowing up. Furthermore, you have only 1 revive per player in this section (a mechanic known from the main raid).

Once the encounter is completed a chest will spawn near the purple crystal’s triangle for you to collect your loot for this encounter.

Step 6: The Final Boss

Once the shield is down you will need to use the Craniums for the next part. A bunch of enemies will spawn and one of the three sections will be able to visually see an orb on the left right and top of the bosses crystal. You will need to call out what orbs are there and meet up at that section of the room and shoot all three crystals at the same time as they move to the center of the bosses crystal. Once they meet at the center the face of the crystal will open up and you will be able to shoot the boss. All of the boss body will be a crit spot but his head will still do the most damage. Continue to shoot the boss but watch out for a triangular projectile he will shoot at you. If he hits you will be trapped inside the triangle and start floating out into space. Your teammates will need to shoot the triangle you are trapped in to free you.

Continue to damage the boss until he closes the face of the crystal back up. Wait until the crystal disappears and a bunch of platforms will spawn all around it. You will need to jump up on the platforms and destroy any two of the 6 white critical spots on the boss. You will know they are destroyed by them turning red and showing an explosion coming from the crit. If you don’t destroy two there will be a wipe mechanic that will take out your team. Once two have been destroyed head back to the main platforms and check to see which platform can now see all three crystals and meet up there after baking Craniums. Repeat this process until the boss is destroyed. Once the boss is destroyed you will be airlifted to the same area after Calus to claim your rewards.

This completes the Eater of Worlds Leviathan raid lair.
