In Dragon’s Dogma 2 the Maister’s Teachings are the most powerful skills that can be acquired by each vocation. This guide shows all of their locations. Acquiring all Maister’s Teachings unlocks the Master of the Maisters trophy.
Learning a maister’s teaching requires the use of a special tome, which you will receive if you impress the Vocation-Maister with your abilities. However, the true potential of this skill can only be realized by those whose vocation rank is high enough.
Maister’s Teaching 1: Fighter Maister
From Lennart, located in Melve. Must reach maximum affinity with him, then talk to him and he’ll give you Soldier’s Code tome to learn Riotous Fury. An easy method is to gift him 1 Wyrmslife Crystal, looted from Dragons (talk to him and press / to give a gift). Then rest on bench for 24 hours and talk to him again. If the gift options is grayed out, make sure you completed side quest Oxcart Courier, then he will accept gifts.
Alternatively, you can max his affinity immediately by completing side quest Readvent of Calamity, then speak with him again immediately after and he should give the Soldier’s Code tome for learning Riotous Fury.
Lennart is usually found walking around the ruined archway in the northwest of Melve:
Alternatively, he can be at the well in the ruined part of town:
Or at the Riftstone, the inn, or in his house (next to the inn):
Maister’s Teaching 2: Thief Maister (Fake)
Talk to Flaude, located in Nameless Village far east of Vernworth. He is located in the Old Noble Manor building at the top of the village.
Exhaust both dialogue options with him (ask about the village & ask what he knows of you), then he’ll give Legend’s Opus item for learning Blades of the Pyre. If he doesn’t you must give him gifts to raise his affinity to maximum. You can give 1 Wyrmslife Crystal, sleep 1 day, give him another (alternatively, giving him 4 flowers and sleeping a day between each should also work).
Maister’s Teaching 3: Thief Maister (Real)
Found during The Nameless Village side quest. Gives Pilferer’s Handbook item for learning Formless Feint. Note that this side quest becomes unavailable during Main Quest 10: Feast of Deception, however you can still get the Maister’s Teaching by talking to the NPC any time thereafter, having the quest isn’t necessary for it, if you do the quest you’ll just get it automatically during that. The NPC will still be there so it’s not missable. He’s in Nameless Village > to the left of the big manor on the hill (last house), go down the ladder into “Nameless Village Depths”. Then go to the end of the cave to find this NPC, talk to him and he gives you the Pilferer’s Handbook to learn this Maister Teaching.
Maister’s Teaching 4: Archer Maister
Raise affinity with Taliesin to the maximum. He is the elf leader found in Sacred Arbor, the elven city west of Melve. He’s in the building called “Arborist’s Home”. Bring a pawn with “Woodland Wordsmith” specialization to understand him (you can check pawn specializations from any Riftstone, re-enter the Riftstone until a pawn has this). Gift him 1 Wyrmslife Crystal (dropped by dragons) > sleep till next day > give him another Wyrmslife Crystal and he will give the Hunter’s Secret tome, which unlocks the Heavenly Shot ability. Other gift items may work too but Wyrmslife Crystal is guaranteed to raise affinity with any NPC.
Alternatively, you can do his 2 side quests to raise his affinity to maximum: Gift of the Bow and A Trial of Archery. After waiting at least a day his affinity will be updated to maximum and you can talk to him again to receive this.
Maister’s Teaching 5: Warrior Maister
Given by Beren, complete the side quests Claw Them Into Shape and Beren’s Final Lesson, then Beren will move to the location Beren’s Childhood Home just south of the Checkpoint Rest Town. Speak with him there to receive Champion’s Fable.
If you lost the duel with him earlier you will need to raise his affinity before he gives you the tome, either by completing an escort for him or giving him items. 1 Wyrmslife Crystal will raise him to maximum affinity. If he’s not at his house, check back at different daytimes. For me he was there after resting at the nearby Oxcart Station once (the one south of the border), but other players have reported only being able to give him gifts at night.
Maister’s Teaching 6: Mage Maister
Given by Trysha, complete Spellbound by giving Trysha 3 of the 6 real books, then speak to her again immediately after and she’ll give Conjurer’s Jottings.
Maister’s Teaching 7: Sorcerer Maister
Given by Eini, complete Spellbound by giving Trysha 3 of the 6 real books, then speak with Eini immediately after to receive Enchanter’s Almanac.
Maister’s Teaching 8: Second Sorcerer Maister
From Sorcerer’s Appraisal side quest. Give him the other 3 real books that you didn’t give to Trysha (there are two copies of Nation’s Death Knell). Alternatively, you are allowed to give him forgeries of the books, which you can do at Ibrahim’s Scrap Store for 6000 Gold per piece.
Maister’s Teaching 9: Trickster Maister
Given by Luz, located at the Reverent Shrine in Battahl. Speak with her downstairs to unlock the Trickster vocation, then climb the ladder on the back left corner of the building to reach the rooftop. Walk around to the front of the rooftop to encounter Luz in her physical form, where she will give the Theurgist’s Rite tome, which unlocks the Dragon’s Delusion ability.
Maister’s Teaching 10: Mystic Spearhand Maister
Given by Sigurd after reaching maximum affinity with him. You can first find him at Dragonsbreath Tower, southwest of Bakbattahl. You can either gift him 1 Wyrmslife Crystal, rest, give him another to max out his affinity and he’ll give you Paladin’s Enigmata which unlocks the Wild Furie ability. If he doesn’t accept gifts then defeat the dragon at Dragonsbreath Tower and he will join you in the fight which raises the affinity.
After the dragon fight at Dragonsbreath Tower, Sigurd moves back to Harve Village to the Coastal Hut, he should be marked on the map by a red icon at the east end of Harve Village. You can gift him more Wyrmslife Crystals there (sleep in between) until he gives you the Teaching.
Maister’s Teaching 11: Magick Archer Maister
Given by Cliodhna, complete Put a Spring in Thy Step, which will unlock the Magick Archer vocation and Cliodhna should immediately speak to you again and give you Spellbow’s Paradox, which unlocks the Martyr’s Bolt ability.
Maister’s Teaching 12: Warfarer Maister
Given by Lamond, complete The Sotted Sage, which will unlock the Warfarer vocation and Lamond should immediately speak to you again and give you Grandmaster’s Path, which unlocks the Rearmament ability.

Mystic Spearhand – Wild Furie. Talk to Sigurd in Melve after defeating a drake/dragon etc. it can be the one from Readvent of Calamity and the followup
adam says
I believe you have to beat Beren in the duel in Claw Them Into Shape in order to get the Champion’s Fable.
adam says
Actually, I just learned that you can raise his affinity and he’ll still give it to you, even if you lost.
SBMO8 says
In order to get these teachings, do you have to play as each vocation (e.g. for Maister’s Teaching 1, do you have to be playing as Fighter)? I’m currently playing as a Mage and was wondering if I could just complete the required quests as a Mage and not have to switch vocations to get these teachings? This is a very missable trophy, btw.
Gage says
No, the only one you’re required to play as a specific Vocation is when you have to be an archer for Gift of the Bow which you need to finish in the chain leading to the Archer maister, otherwise it never matters what Vocation you’re playing as. You do seem to have to have unlocked the Vocation to use the tome though, but you can just keep them in your inventory or storage if you for whatever reason don’t want to unlock the Vocation.

Have someone same issue like me ? I learned all maister’s teachings but trophy didnt pop. I don’t know what to do now. Please help.
trabysm says
I got the same issue, followed the list step by step- didn’t missed a single one and the trophy didn’t popped. Anyone got a solution? I’m beyond frustrated.
Traktoah says
I have the same issue
Matt says
The fake Thief Maister for Blades of the Pyre is missable. I’ve gone back to the Nameless Village & the NPC won’t talk to me. I know it’s a troll spell so maybe it won’t count towards the trophy. I’m hoping so.
PowerPyx says
For me it wasn’t missable. I failed Nameless Village and went back at the end of Main Quest 14: A New Godsway. He still talked to me and gave it right away. I got all Maister Teachings fine from that point.
However, if it doesn’t work for you, you can rush there within 1-2 hours in NG+, that might be the easiest solution.
Matt says
So I discovered if Flaude isn’t talking to you – you can give him flowers/gifts over the course or 3-4 days & he will give you the skill on the 4th or 5th day.
PowerPyx says
Interesting, I never had to give him gifts. But it makes sense, as the other Maisters give their Teaching when having reached max affinity with them. I added a note 🙂
Rich says
I’m sure this trophy is bugged, I have 11 of the teachings apart from Philforers handbook, but I have finished Nameless village and spoke to both NPCs , real and fake (so maybe I sold that one). But the trophy has not popped 🙁
PowerPyx says
The trophy worked fine for me. You can check at Vocation Guild if you have the Maister Teaching unlocked under skills or not. If not, it means you are missing 1 and it’s not bugged.
If you lost one of the scrolls you can quickly rush there in New Game+ within the first 1-2 hours 🙂
Also try giving Wyrmslife Crystals to both the guys in Nameless Village to max their affinity. I didn’t have to do that in my game but someone else pointed out they needed to do that before being given the Maister Teaching.
Jeremy says
do these teachings carry over in NG+ i gave the girl all the grimiors first now im stuck on myrridons quest. figured id wrap some things up in Newgame +
Crono says
I did the same thing like 1 hour ago and been stuck in the same situation for an hour.
But I resolved and Eini gave me the Teaching for the mage.
So here what I did:
I took the affinity to max level for Eini with a mission to escort her to Melve and Trysha giving her gifts then I slept for like 5 days and talking to Eini and she gave me the mage teaching.
I don’t know if this was of help but I did equip the ring Trysha gives you after you gives the 5 tomes.
P.s. Trysha gave me the logistic specialization for my main pawn after all this.
Rich says
So I’m fully stuck now . I started new game+ , accepted the Nameless Village quest but Srail is not giving me the Philforers Handbook and no matter how many Wyrnsife crystals I give him he won’t give me it. So this is fully screwed for me now 🙁
João Joestar says
For those trying to get the Thief skills and didn’t received them as rewards even after maxing the affinity well what i did was start a fresh run on a friends account and rushed to the Nameless Village and talked to Flaude and he got impressed of how our character got there and after i did the trap course and got the 2nd skill from the real master so yeah after playing 3 times and never got it, it worked like that, just transfer the scroll as a dismissed pawn reward to your main account and in a few hours you’ll receive it and finally this pain is over✊?
Trickz says
Hey, I am currently at the quest “New Godsway” and trying to make my cleaning up before endgame. Got every maister teaching except Lennart’s, because he is standing in Melve, near the Inn and doesnt do anything. I tried gifting him, even got an achievement for max reputation, but he still doesn’t want to give me the scroll. Please help!
