There are 28 Far Cry 5 Prepper Stash Locations (11 in John’s Region, 8 in Faith’s Region, 8 in Jacob’s Region, 1 on Dutch’s Region). Prepper Stashes always contain 3 perk magazines and a lot of cash and even weapons and vehicles. Each perk magazine is worth one perk point which you can use to buy new skills and they can even be used in Multiplayer! Finding Prepper Stashes and solving their puzzles is the best way to get money & perk points fast in Far Cry 5.
The Prepper Stashes are marked with a green diamond icon on the map and in the screenshots below. The easiest way to reveal them all on your in-game map is to talk to the shop owner at Fall’s End (John’s Region) over and over again. After he reveals a location fast travel to Fall’s End again and speak to him to get the next location, rinse and repeat. He can also give you locations of Outposts and Side Missions.
After reading the note of a stash, it will give you waypoints to solve it but the solutions are also listed in the guide below if you get stuck. If you find all of them you will earn a combined 81 perk points.
Dutch’s Region (1 Prepper Stash)
1. Sunken Funds
This is story-related and unlocks automatically during the Prologue after you talk to the first hostage on Dutch’s Island. You must go to a boathouse, but the door is locked. You can swim in the water to enter the boathouse by swimming there. Then pull a lever in the boathouse, head back to where you found the stash note to interact with a valve. Then open a latch in the ground next to the valve and head downstairs. Wait for the water to drain and destroy the wooden planks blocking your path to the stash. It contains a Compound Bow.
John’s Region (11 Prepper Stashes)
1. Deep Dive
After reading the Stash note, go to the marked waypoint to open the latch leading underground. Drop down (or take the ladder). You’ll have to dive in the water in the underground bunker. Pick up the key in this flooded section (on table in front of the wooden planks blocking your path). Head back up the ladder and use the key to open the shed next to the bunker entrance. Pull the lever in the shed to drain the water. Now you can go back down he ladder and smash the wooden planks blocking your path. So remember: key to shed is in the flooded stash-bunker.
2. Playing With Fire
After reading the note the waypoint will lead you into a sewer pipe. Take the path in the middle of the pipe to find a locked gate. Use the Locksmith Perk (6 perk points) to pick the lock, done!
3. Foxhole
The stash is in the burned-down house next to where you read the note. There is a window you can climb through, the jump up some rubble to get to the stash marker. There’s a latch on the ground you need to interact with, leading down below into a bunker that contains the stash.
4. D.I.Y. and D.O.A.
Next to where you read the note is a locked door. Either pick the lock with “Locksmith” perk or go find the key in the house behind you. Open the latch behind the door. Down there is another locked door. To open it, go to the end of this underground bunker and find a switch in the last possible room. Beware, pulling it will cause some explosions and the whole place starts burning, but the door is now open and you can pick up a lot of ammo and 3 perk magazines from it.
5. Dumpster Diving
Next to where you read the note is a ladder. Climb up, then jump over to the containers (can shoot a red barrel to blow up the rubble). Keep climbing the containers with blue ropes hanging off them, then use the grappling hook to swing over the containers (requires Grapple Perk). At the end of the container yard is a locked door but you can open it by pulling the electric switch around the corner if you go to the left of the door. It will electrify the water but you can climb back to the door via some crates.
6. Long Range Lockpick
For this one you’re gonna need a Sniper Rifle. Luckily, there’s a Sniper shooting at the bunker where the note is and you can take his rifle. Stand where the Sniper was standing and shoot the lock of the bunker door with the sniper rifle. This opens the door and you can enter to find the stash. Beware, a ton of enemies will be waiting outside the stash room when you leave.
7. Man Cave
After reading the note, check for a blue zipline on a nearby water tower. Use this zipline to get to the waypoint marker behind the barbed-wire fence. Shoot the lock on the gate. Behind the gate is a truck, drive it backward to connect it with the trailer behind you. This reveals a hatch on the floor that you can open. Climb down into the bunker for the stash location. You’ll find a really cool custom car inside called the “2012 KIMBERLITE TCZ Custom Paint”.
8. Fire in the Hole
After reading the stash note you must find the entrance to the mines. Go into the nearby building (where some enemies are patrolling the area) and shoot the breakable floorboards inside the house. This reveals a ladder leading down into the mine. Shoot the wooden planks blocking the way until you get to a big room with water. The water flow is being blocked by more wooden planks, at the top of the water-filled room. Shoot the wooden planks so the water can flow freely. This raises the water and you can swim over to the other side. Pull yourself up at the blue ropes. Here you’ll find the stash at the end of the tunnel.
9. Vespiary
This one’s real easy. After reading the note, jump up the nearby rooftop to find a window with wooden planks on it. Smash in the wooden planks and climb through. Then just make it to the end of the building upstairs – but don’t disturb the bees!
10. High Tension
One of the easiest but funnest stashes. From the tower where you find the stash note, there’s a series of ziplines connected to that tower. Just ride the ziplines and you’ll drop straight into the stash, nothing more to it. Enjoy the view!
11. Swingers
This requires the grappling hook (Grapple Perk). After reading the note, start by using the zipline leading to the scaffold. Then you must use the grappling hook to swing over to another platform and again use the grappling hook to make it to a second platform that contains the stash. When you need to drop onto platforms, swing back and forth to build up momentum. Descend on the rope to swing further, then drop down with / onto the platform.
Faith’s Region (8 Prepper Stashes)
1. O’Hara’s Haunted House
First order of business is to turn on the power. You can do this by climbing the crate behind the blue house, use it to climb on the roof. Then drop down on the scaffold on the side of the house, from there you can enter the attic which contains the power switch (marked via waypoint). Now you can enter the haunted house. Just make it through it and the stash is located at the end of it on the upper floor.
2. Side Effects
After reading the note enter the mines. The stash is located behind the locked door at the mine entrance. To open it, make it to the very end of the mines and turn on the power then backtrack to the entrance and open the door. At multiple points your way will be blocked by wooden planks, just destroy them with your weapons or some explosives.
3. Getaway
This stash is inside the garage just next to the note. To open it you must retrieve the key. Just follow the waypoints, they will lead you to it. You will have destroy some wooden planks to the neighboring half of the building, then pull a lever that opens a garage door. Then enter the garage and make it to the end of the building for the key. Inside the garage is a cool vehicle that you should enter to permanently unlock it, called “1972 Pygmalion SSR”.
4. The Angel’s Grave
After reading the note use your Grappling Hook to climb the wall right above the Stash note. Then just follow the waypoint marker. You must rappel down into a cave. Just make it to the end of the cave for the stash. Be mindful of the hot water along the way, it can easily kill you. This is one of the coolest Prepper Stashes with a unique environment.
5. Dead Man’s Treasure
First you must take the wheel from the shed near the stash note, marked with a waypoint. You can enter the shed from underneath it, there are some floorboards missing in the shed so you can climb in. Follow the waypoint to the waterfall and place the wheel in the marked spot, then turn it to close the dam. Now use your grappling hook to rappel down into the cave (requires Grapple perk). In here the stash is located.
6. Overwatch
For this you must climb to the top of the Raptor Peak. The stash is next to a yellow tent on top of the hill (marked by waypoint). The easiest option is to take a helicopter and land on the mountaintop. If you go by foot you need the “Grapple” perk. You’ll have to get through a series of grappling hook sections, but with a helicopter you can skip all this.
7. Animal Control
The waypoints of this stash lead you into a cave. Simply make it to the end of the cave. There’s also a helicopter at the end. You’ll need the “Grapple” perk to do this.
8. Pooper Scooper
You’ll have to find the cabin key in the house by the stash note. To enter, climb the scaffold on its side and destroy the wooden planks on the window, then climb through. There are a bunch of dogs inside but they don’t bite. The key is inside the dog poop on the ground floor, in front of the locked door with red glowing lock. You need to interact with the dog poop on the floor. Then follow the waypoints over the cabin marked with Number “2” and find the stash inside.
Jacob’s Region (8 Prepper Stashes)
1. Shipwreck
First you must activate the power in the ship. Dive into the ship, then climb the ladder upstairs to the upper deck of the ship and pull the yellow lever to activate the power. Go back the way you came and dive into the now open bunker (through some underwater caves marked by waypoint).
2. Salvage Rites
This is a very quick stash to get. After reading the note, the waypoint will lead you to the sea. You must dive to get a key. It’s by a green underwater flare, where a plane wreck is found. Key is in the hands of the dead pilot. Pick it up and use the key to open a box where you read the note.
3. Gone Squatchin’
First you must head to the lookout marked by a waypoint. Simply walk up the mountain and read the note at the lookout. Now follow the waypoints up the mountain. You can either climb (requires “Grapple” perk to use grappling hook) or take a helicopter. The key is found on the body of a dead man up the mountain. Bring the key back to where you read the stash note to open the door, done!
4. Unwelcome Guest
This one is super quick. Read the stash note, then follow the waypoint. It will turn into a general search area. Just follow the blood to the cave of a Grizzly bear. Inside the little cave is a dead body that holds the key you need. Return to where you read the note and use the key to open the door to the stash location.
5. Cliffhanger
Simply read the Stash note and follow the waypoint up the hill where you find a dead body with a key in its hand. Beware there is an attack helicopter in this area, but it’s easy to shoot down with a rocket laucher or sniper rifle. Once you have the key from the dead body return to where you read the stash to open the loot box, done!
6. The Holdouts
This one doesn’t give you any waypoints, it just tells you to “go find the bunker”. The bunker is in the shed behind the house. Shoot the lock on the latch. Now you need a key to open the bunker door. This is found in the house. At the back of the house where it has “Resist Jacob” written on it with blue paint you can climb up the roof (there’s some barbed wire missing in a spot). Head to the other end, there you can climb through two more windows via the roof. After climbing through the second window you can head downstairs into a room with two corpses. At the very end of the room, hidden under 3 silver-colored bags is the key. It’s hard to see so just pick up anything you find and press the interact-button. Backtrack to the bunker and you’re done. There’s also a Lighter Collectible located in this bunker!
7. Hangar Pains
To get into the hangar you need to land a helicopter on its roof. So go to the nearest helipad and buy a helicopter then fly it there. On the hangar rooftop you can drop through an opening. In the hangar hit the pulsing switch to open the door. This unlocks the “Pack Hunter” plane. There is also a Cheeseburger Bobblehead in here!
8. Mayday
After finding the stash’s note you must head up the hill to investigate a plane crash (either by helicopter or use your Grappling Hook). Taking a helicopter is the fastest way by far. Kill the enemies around the crash site. There’s a locked stash treasure box marked by a waypoint but it requires a key. The key is found just a few steps away, slightly up the hill on a small wooden crate where you just killed the enemies. Pick up the key and open the lootbox with it.
That’s all the Prepper Stashes you can find in FC5! Hope you enjoy your newfound perk points, good luck!

There are actually 28 prepper stashes in Far Cry 5. I had 40/41 missions completed in Jacob’s region and had done 27 prepper stashes. I finally found the 28th at the base of Ozighwan Falls
PowerPyx says
I think you mean “3. Gone Squatchin’” in Jacob’s Region? That’s at the bottom of Ozighwan Falls and already on the list.
Bryan says
Sorry, I started a new game so I can’t cross check my list with yours anymore, but I’m 100% sure there are 28, I counted 4 times. Just keep your eye out for the last one if you happen to be looking around the map.
Bryan says
I believe the one you’re missing is Shipwreck, at the Tanami residence in Faith’s region. It’s a little island in the middle of Silver Lake.
Bryan says
Oh no you have that one too. I’m not sure which one you’re missing.
M1N3CRAFTY says
No there’s actually 28, you’re missing Fire in the Hole. It’s in a little house south of Orville Creek, in the southeast corner of Holland Valley.
PowerPyx says
Thanks M1N3CRAFTY, “Fire in the Hole” was the missing one!
Added to the guide now, thanks again.

Just 2 things to avoid confusion with zone missions numbers:
1. O’Hara’s Haunted House. Count as a John’s Region mission. Not Faith.
1. Shipwreck. Counts as Faith’s Region mission. Not Jacob
Nice guide! thank you.
