Search and Rescue is a Story Mission in Far Cry 5. This walkthrough shows how to complete this Quest.
Region: Whitetail Mountains (Jacob’s Region)
Area: all over
Quest Giver: Eli over Radio
Requirement: having finished We Must Be Strong for the first time
Reward: 600 RP
Objectives:
- People freed in Whitetail Region (20)
Search and Rescue is a passive Story Quest. At some random point after having rescued an imprisoned resistance fighter, you will get a call over the radio from Eli which will trigger this quest. He asks us to save as many as we can – in numbers: 20.
Luckily, the count is retroactive, so every person you have saved until then does count for this quest. For me personally, it triggered after having rescued my sixteenth person.
People are in distress all over the map. Examples of where you could help could be:
Prisoner transport (van or truck)
People tied up
People held in cages
There are other possibilities as well. Just rescue whoever you see along your journey and you should be fine pretty soon.

How can I go about triggering this if I have already liberated the region?
Could it be, that you’ve already completed it without even noticing?
In Faith’s and John’s Region I had the same. I finished some other quest and while they were “debriefing” me over the radio, the corresponding search-quest popped up and immediately was completed.
It was only shown for a short time on screen, so I could have easily missed this completely. Had to check my quest-log to see, that it now was completed somehow.
Could this be the case for you as well? 🙂
If you complete the area (trying not to give spoilers for others) lets just say if you didn’t do it, you can’t do it anymore.
I checked my list of completed missions and it is not showing up. I have literally done everything else in Jacob’s region. 40/41 missions completed.
I’m also wondering what missions haven’t been found or triggered in John’s region as once I complete the comic collectibles I’ll be at 50/52 there.
Did you destroy Yes sign in John’s territory yet ? That one is a hidden mission
