Introduction
Welcome to the Final Fantasy XVI Trophy Guide (also known as Final Fantasy 16, FF XVI, FF 16). This entry in the Final Fantasy series features new combat and instead of Materia uses so-called Eikon abilities that gradually recharge during real-time combat. The game is semi-linear and semi-open world. The linear areas are not part of the open world but there’s a stage replay to revisit them. The open world is still fully accessible after the story. You get almost all collectibles as automatic rewards from side quests and hunt board quests. For Platinum you practically need 100% completion to unlock all Patron Items and to visit all Areas. The game takes place over three periods of Clive’s Life: His Teens, Twenties, Thirties. None of the side content from his Teens and Twenties counts towards trophies. The only trophy-relevant section is Clive’s Thirties, which starts at Main Quest #26: The Crystals’ Curse. Nothing before this matters. After the story you can still free-roam everywhere from Clive’s Thirtees, but can’t go back to previous periods of his life. Those earlier periods contain nothing for trophies, and if you missed any side quests before the Point of No Return in Main Quest #25: The Dame, it doesn’t matter. The Platinum is fairly straightforward. Simply put: follow the Collectible Guide to get 100% completion > clean up Combat Trophies at the End > play through Final Fantasy Mode in New Game+. You are allowed to use the Cheat Rings that are in your inventory from the start, even in Final Fantasy Mode, they don’t void any trophies.
Step 1: 100% Completion Playthrough, Get All Collectibles [50-70 Hours]
Simply follow the Final Fantasy XVI Collectible Locations Guide. This will get you all Trophies, Collectibles, and Side Quests. It shows everything in chronological order when it becomes available. Also do the Side Quests because they are needed to get all Patron Items and reach all Areas (Side Quests before Main Quest 26: The Crystals’ Curse aren’t required for anything).
It doesn’t matter what difficulty you pick for your first playthrough, you can play on the easiest setting “Story Focused”. Final Fantasy difficulty isn’t available from the start, it’s unlocked after beating the story for the first time on any difficulty.
The only technically missable thing is crafting Gotterdammerung if you sell the required crafting materials (Ragnarok, Orichalcum, Darksteel, Primitive Battlehorn). To keep it simple don’t sell any materials/weapons and you will have enough to craft every weapon and armor in the game. You won’t have to worry about anything else. Even if you sold the materials you could still do it in New Game+. Feel free to craft new weapons and armor whenever they become available at the blacksmith.
Time Savers:
- After reaching “Main Quest #37: After the Storm”, you can buy “Accessory: On Fortune and Heavens” (increases EXP earned +15%). Keep this equipped at all times to be sufficiently leveled for New Game+ (pointed out in Collectible Guide when you get there).
- “Cheat Rings” don’t disable trophies. This makes Platinum much easier, so feel free to use them if you like. They can be equipped under Gear & Eikons > Accessories. The autododge (“Ring of Timely Evasion”) is the most useful one. For the third accessory use whatever you like.
Step 2: New Game+ Final Fantasy Difficulty Playthrough [15-25 Hours]
After finishing the story, the game prompts you to create a “clear save”. Create the clear save > go to the Title Screen > click “New Game+” > Final Fantasy Mode > select your clear save to carry over progress. All of your gear, inventory, level, abilities etc. fully carries over.
Now rush through the story again. To speed it up, ignore all Side Content and skip all cutscenes by pressing > hold . You are allowed to use the “cheat rings” which makes this significantly easier, especially the autododge from Ring of Timely Evasion.
Recommended Equipment:
- Accessories:
- Ring of Timely Evasion (Autododge)
- On Fortune and the Heavens (+15% XP) – can be upgraded to “On Fortune and Heavens II” (+30% EXP) by combining 2 of the same rings (unlocks in Main Quest #37: After the Storm). This ensures you stay sufficiently leveled.
- Any third accessory of your choice – good options are Genji Gloves (+5% damage), Ring of Timely Assistance (Torgal Autoassist), The Wages of Warcraft (+20% AP) to reduce AP grind at the end.
- Before starting New Game+ make sure you crafted Gotterdammerung, this way you have it from the start.
- You can craft even stronger weapons/armor in New Game+. Watch out for a yellow marker on the blacksmith between main quests, this indicates he has something new. Craft better gear as soon as it becomes available.
Recommended Eikons:
- Phoenix: Rising Flames + Scarlet Cyclone
- Titan: Diamond Dust (can slot it to Titan after fully upgrading it) + Upheaval
- Odin: Dancing Steel + Gigaflare (can slot it to Odin after fully upgrading it)
Recommended Strategy:
- Against Groups: use Odin’s Zanetsuken Level 5. This will instant-kill all weak enemies in one hit. You can quickly charge it to Level 3-4 by using Dancing Steel. Then attack with Odin’s Blade (press with Odin Eikon) to bring it to Level 5. Keep all other abilities charged for single high-health enemies.
- Against Bosses: Diamond Dust –> Upheaval –> Scarlet Cyclone –> Dancing Steel –> press to switch to Odin Blade to stagger enemy –> when staggered: unleash Lvl 5 Zanetsuken > + Limit Break > Gigaflare > Dancing Steel –> Zanetsuken Lvl 5 again –> Rising Flames –> Scarlet Cyclone –> Diamond Dust –> Upheaval –> repeat.
- The above combo creates a nice loop that deals 150,000+ damage in a single stagger. Diamond Dust / Upheaval / Scarlet Cyclone reduce the enemy’s will gauge. You want to have Lvl 5 Zanetsuken ready before the enemy is staggered so that you can unleash it for high damage, then immediately charge it and use it again. The good thing is that all abilities keep recharging while using Dancing Steel / Zanetsuken / Gigaflare / Diamond Dust. You are also immune to damage while using these moves. You can walk around and wait for abilities to recharge instead of mashing the attack button the whole time.
- Autododge won’t work if you’re in the middle of a Phase Shift ( with Phoenix) or Lunge ( + ) or some air combos, so avoid using those moves.
- DON’T equip the Autocombo ring because it will trigger moves at the wrong time (especially Zanetsuken before it reaches Lvl 5), and it will often use Phase Shift / Lunge which breaks autoevade.
- Always buy a full inventory of potions between main quests. If you got all upgrades in the first playthrough you can hold 8 Potions, 5 High Potions, 2 Elixirs, 4 Strength/Stoneskin Tonics.
Step 3: Farming Ability Points to Fully Upgrade All Abilities [0.5 Hours]
For Masterclass you must fully upgrade all Eikon abilities. This costs 118,400 Ability Points total. After 2 playthroughs you won’t have enough points from quests alone. Luckily, you can farm 1,120 Ability Points every 90 seconds at the end of New Game+ by defeating Hyenas in Vidargaes (last area of the game). You will probably have around 30,000 left at this point so will need to grind this for about 30 minutes.
See Final Fantasy XVI Fastest Ability Points Farming Method.
If you own the Echoes of the Fallen DLC, play through it now for the DLC trophies. This also gives you Ability Points. See Echoes of the Fallen DLC Trophy Guide.

Punisher Punish 10 enemies (excluding battles in the Hall of Virtue). |
||
A “Punish” is performed when you stab an enemy that’s on the ground. This will sometimes happen automatically when you press on a downed low-health enemy. This will come naturally over time and will be one of your first few combat trophies without even trying.
You’re Not the Boss of Me Defeat a boss without taking damage. |
||
This trophy is a bit misleading. It only works on a small number of specific bosses, not on all of them. The first opportunity for it is the boss “Midnight Raven” in Main Quest #9: Fanning Embers. Make a Manual Save in this quest. To make it easier, equip the Autododge Ring “Ring of Timely Evasion” under Gear & Eikons > Accessories. Take it slow and spam Eikon abilities on the boss. Avoid using Lunge ( + ), Phoenix Shift ( ), and Aerial Attacks because dodging doesn’t always work during these moves. Don’t equip the Autocombo Ring “Ring of Timely Strikes” because it will often use those moves and breaks Autododge. If you get hit, simply reload the last Autosave and try again as often as you need. If you completely missed this opportunity, wait until you are done with the story and replay “The Greatwood” via Stage Replay from the Arete Stone in The Hideaway. After the story you will have very powerful abilities such as Gigaflare and can kill the boss in a few hits. Your level and gear carry over into Stage Replay, the only downside is that you can’t save in Stage Replay so would have to replay the entire level if you get hit. The trophy still unlocks via Stage Replay so it’s not missable. Alternatively, you can try in New Game+. |
||
Made to Be Broken Defeat 20 enemies while semi-primed (excluding battles in the Hall of Virtue). |
||
Semi-Prime is unlocked at the start of Main Quest 23: The Meaning of Life. It can be activated by pressing + when the Limit Break Gauge is full. Use this to defeat 20 enemies total throughout the game. You don’t have to defeat 20 in one use. It counts when on the right side it shows the text “Semi-Prime Finish”.
It’s Over 50,000 ‘Deal an enemy 50,000 damage while it is staggered (excluding battles in the Hall of Virtue and while fully primed as Ifrit). |
||
This is guaranteed to come automatically during New Game+, and probably much earlier than that.
To “stagger” an enemy you must deplete the yellow bar below the health. This happens a little bit with each hit you land and by using Eikonic Abilities. During a single stagger, so while the enemy is stunned and before it recovers, you must deal 50,000 damage total. It doesn’t work during certain Eikon Boss Battles where you play as Ifrit. Only while you play as Clive. Easiest Method: use Odin’s Zanetsuken Level 5 > press + to activate Limit Break > use Bahamut’s Gigaflare > spam remaining abilities. |
||
Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeift Land 15 Shift Strikes or Shift Shots combined (excluding battles in the Hall of Virtue). |
||
Select the Phoenix Eikon (red) > press to do a Phase Shift, this will make you teleport towards the enemy > press to land a “Shift Strike” or to a “Shift Shot”. Repeat 15 times.
Packing Heat Execute and land 2 Heatwave Counters in a single battle (excluding those in the Hall of Virtue). |
||
“Heatwave” is an Eikon Ability unlocked at the start of Main Quest 7: A Chance Encounter. Buy this from the Phoenix Eikon for 120 Ability Points and equip it to your active abilities. No need to upgrade it, the first level is enough. To perform a “Heatwave Counter”, you must activate Heatwave at the exact moment a RANGED PROJECTILE is about to hit you. When done correctly it will show the text “Heatwave Counter” on the right side of the screen. This only works against ranged attacks, not against melee attacks. The timing is important, if you activate Heatwave while the projectile is still far away from you it won’t trigger the special counter animation. Press the button to start the Heatwave windup at the exact moment the projectile is about to hit you. A good location for this is Rosaria > Three Reeds obelisk. Drop down the cliff directly west of the obelisk to find two flower-like enemies called “Blossom”. They will repeatedly puke purple goo at you. Run away from them until they attack and press the Heatwave button just half a second before the projectile hits you. To avoid Torgal (your dog) killing the enemies, constantly press to have him heal you, so he doesn’t attack the enemies. Note that if you wait with this until clearing the story and doing all side quests you will have other members in your party who would automatically kill the enemies. In that scenario, either reload an old manual save where only Torgal is with you, or do it in New Game+, or try it in the Phoenix Chronolith Trial that takes place in Rosaria as it contains some ranged enemies. |
||
Fatal Attraction Defeat 5 enemies in the air after using Deadly Embrace (excluding battles in the Hall of Virtue). |
||
“Deadly Embrace” is an Eikon Ability unlocked at the start of Main Quest 13: Wings of Change. Select the Garudo Eikon (Green) in battle, then jump and press to use Deadly Embrace. It pulls enemies towards you. Attack them with or other abilities. You must defeat a total of 5 enemies in the air after pulling them with Deadly Embrace. With which attack you defeat them doesn’t matter, the only important part is that you used Deadly Embrace in the air beforehand and you have to DEFEAT the enemy (land the final hit that defeats it). If the enemy survives the combo you must repeat it until it dies in the air. You can keep track of how many you defeated via PS5’s built-in trophy progress tracker.
Never Coming Down Land Gouge, Wicked Wheel, and Rook’s Gambit in midair before landing (excluding battles in the Hall of Virtue). |
||
“Gouge, Wicked Wheel and Rook’s Gambit” are Eikon Abilities unlocked at the start of Main Quest 13: Wings of Change. They are part of Garuda’s Skill Tree (Green). Step 1: Buy “Rook’s Gambit” from the Ability Menu for 120 Ability Points. Fully Upgrade Wicked Wheel for 1525 Ability Points (525 + 1000). Fully upgrading it allows you to slot it to a different Eikon (you can also upgrade one of the other two abilities, doesn’t matter which). Step 2: In “Gear & Eikons” Menu equip Garuda Eikon and slot it with “Gouge” + “Rook’s Gambit”. Slot the fully upgraded “Wicked Wheel” to the Phoenix Eikon. This is why you had to upgrade it, so that you can use it with a different Eikon and have all 3 abilities equipped at the same time. Step 3: Look for an enemy in the wild. Jump > use Wicked Wheel > to switch to Garuda Eikon > use Rook’s Gambit > use Gouge. If all 3 moves land while in midair it will unlock the trophy. A good place to do it is in Rosaria > Three Reeds. To the west of the obelisk fast travel is a bull-like enemy called “Bighorn”. It has a good amount of health and is quite big which makes it easy to hit in midair. You only need to land 1 hit with each ability, it’s fine if some hits don’t land on the target. |
||
I Am the Thunder Discharge 50 Blind Justice lightning balls (excluding battles in the Hall of Virtue). |
||
“Blind Justice” is an Eikon Ability unlocked at the start of Main Quest 27: Cid the Outlaw. Equip the Ramuh Eikon (Purple).
In battle switch to the Ramuh Eikon and press to enter a slow motion aim-mode. Hold the cursor over enemies to target them with the lightning. Press again to release the lightning bolts. Repeat this until the trophy unlocks. You can shoot multiple lightning balls each time. |
||
Rod to Redemption Lure an enemy into striking a Lightning Rod 3 times before it dissipates (excluding battles in the Hall of Virtue). |
||
“Lightning Rod” is an Eikon Ability unlocked at the start of Main Quest 27: Cid the Outlaw. Buy and equip “Lightning Rod” ability from the purple skill tree (in Abilities Menu) for 120 Ability Points. Cast this during battle, it will create a blue lightning rod that stays in a fixed position. Have the same enemy walk into it 3 times. An easy place to do this is Rosaria > Three Reeds, against the Bighorn down the cliff directly west of the fast travel obelisk. Stand behind the Lightning Rod and the Bighorn will rush straight into it. |
||
Untouchable Use Titanic Block to fend off 10 enemy attacks (excluding battles in the Hall of Virtue). |
||
“Titanic Block” is an Eikon Ability unlocked at the start of Main Quest 39: Bolts from the Blue. Equip the Titan Eikon (Yellow).
You land a Titanic Block by holding just before an enemy hits you. When done correctly it will show the text “Precision Block” on the right side. Repeat this 10 times total. Counts across multiple encounters. |
||
Beat Rocking Blocks Land the third punch of a Titanic Counter twice in a single battle (excluding those in the Hall of Virtue). |
||
This requires the “Titanic Block”, an Eikon Ability unlocked at the start of Main Quest 39: Bolts from the Blue. It’s the basic ability of the Titan skill tree (orange) that allows you to block attacks. You must press at the moment an enemy is about to hit you to perform a perfect block, then press to perform 3 strikes – those count as “Titanic Counters”. Do this combo twice in a single combat encounter. |
||
100 Mfps Land 100 total hits with Lv. 2 or higher Megaflare (excluding battles in the Hall of Virtue). |
||
“Megaflare” is an Eikon Ability unlocked at the start of Main Quest 52: Things Fall Apart. Equip the Bahamut Eikon and press to start a Megaflare Charge. A meter will show up in the top left corner which displays the level of the charge. It increases over time and by dodging attacks. After the meter reaches Lv. 2, press again to unleash the Megaflare. It will automatically home in on enemies. The 100 hits count cumulatively across multiple uses and multiple fights. You don’t need to do this in one use/fight. |
||
Such Dodge, So Mega Execute a Precision Dodge 3 times while charging a single Megaflare (excluding battles in the Hall of Virtue). |
||
Megaflare is unlocked at the start of Main Quest 52: Things Fall Apart. Equip the Bahamut Eikon (Turquoise abilities). You can press to begin charging a Megaflare. This move is actually called “Wings of Light” in the ability menu. It will give you wings and you fly around until the gauge in the top left corner fills up. For this trophy you must first upgrade the “Wings of Light” ability for 750 Ability Points. This lifts the Megaflare Limit from Level 2 to Level 4. This is mandatory for the trophy because each successful dodge increases it by 1 Level, and once you hit Level 4 it stops charging (no longer counts dodges once you reach Level 4). Since the unupgraded version only allows Megaflare Level 2 it would only count 2 Dodges until fully charged. So make sure you upgrade it. Now for the trophy, do the following:
The important thing here in the trophy description is “while charging“. When you hit Megaflare Level 4 it’s no longer charging, hence no longer counts dodges. What makes this tricky is that every dodge increases the gauge by +1 and it also fills passively so you have actually very little time. If you miss a dodge you will run out of time before your Megaflare reaches Level 4. The good thing is that the Bighorn enemy uses very slow attacks and dodges are easy to time. If you do a non-perfect dodge that doesn’t display the “Megaflare Dodge” it doesn’t count. Only when it shows Megaflare Dodge it will have counted. You do not need to activate the Megaflare for the trophy to unlock. It pops immediately after the third dodge. |
||
Oh, Snap! Inflict Permafrost on 10 enemies by perfectly dodging attacks with Cold Snap (excluding battles in the Hall of Virtue). |
||
“Cold Snap” is unlocked at the start of Main Quest 62: Across the Narrow. Equip the Shiva Eikon (Blue abilities). When an enemy is about to hit you press to perform a special dodge that will freeze the enemy, same as you would with a regular precision-dodge. The only difference is that instead of pressing to dodge as you normally would, you must press to do it while having the Shiva Eikon selected (press to cycle through Eikons in combat). When done correctly it will say “Permafrost” on the right side of the screen. Repeat this 10 times total. You can farm it against the same enemy, it doesn’t need to be 10 different enemies. For example, in Rosaria > Three Reeds fast travel point, jump down the cliff on the left to find a Bighorn (bull-like enemy). It has a lot of health and slow attacks that are easy to dodge. |
||
Cold-blooded Simultaneously defeat three or more enemies frozen using Frostbite, Permafrost, or Diamond Dust (excluding battles in the Hall of Virtue). |
||
“Frostbite / Permafrost / Diamond Dust” are unlocked at the start of Main Quest 62: Across the Narrow. Equip the Shiva Eikon (Blue abilities). Step 1: Find a group of weak enemies. A good location is Sanbreque > Royal Meadows. Go south from the fast travel obelisk to find a group of 4 wolves. Damage them enough that they will die in 1 hit from “Diamond Dust”. Step 2: Buy and equip “Diamond Dust” ability for 1940 Ability Points in the Shiva skill tree. Step 3: In combat switch to the Shiva Eikon ( to switch Eikons). When an enemy is about to hit you press to do a perfectly timed Cold Snap evade. If done correctly it will freeze all enemies nearby and displays “Permafrost” on the right side. It must freeze 3 enemies in one use. Step 4: While the 3 enemies are frozen, activate “Diamond Dust” ability. It has to defeat all 3 enemies in one use while they are still frozen. It’s easier if the enemies are close together. Permafrost creates a shockwave in a radius around you and deals a lot of damage. The enemies have to be defeated from the Diamond Dust. If one survives it won’t pop the trophy. But you can quickly fast travel back to the Royal Meadows obelisk to respawn the enemies and wait for Diamond Dust to recharge. If the enemies survive try to weaken them up some more beforehand. If your dog kills them by accident, command him to spam his healing ability so he doesn’t participate in combat. |
||
Every Damn Sinew Land a Lv. 2 or higher Zantetsuken five times (excluding battles in the Hall of Virtue). |
||
“Zanetsuken” is unlocked at the start of Main Quest 65: Brotherhood. Equip the Odin Eikon (pink abilities). In combat press to replace Clive’s weapon with Odin’s blade > Attack with to charge the “Zanetsuken” gauge in the top left corner of the screen to Level 2 > hold to unleash a Zanetsuken. Repeat this 5 times total. |
||
Fistful of Steel Execute 3 Steel Counters in a single battle (excluding those in the Hall of Virtue). |
||
“Steel Counter” is unlocked at the start of Main Quest 65: Brotherhood. It’s part of the Odin skill tree. Equip the Odin Eikon (pink abilities).
Repeat this 3 times in a single combat encounter. An easy spot for it is Rosaria > Three Reeds obelisk. Drop down the cliff west of the obelisk to find a bull-like enemy called Bighorn. It has a lot of health and attacks slowly. Note: don’t equip the “Ring of Timely Evasion” (autododge) because it makes you dodge prematurely instead of attacking. |
||
Yes, Eikon Master all of a single Eikon’s abilities and feats. |
||
For this you need to fully upgrade all abilities of ONE Eikon Skill Tree. The first one “Phoenix” is the cheapest, it costs 13,425 Ability Points total. You can always reset abilities by pressing Touchpad in the Abilities Menu.
The basic combat moves from the skill tree in the middle don’t count for this. Only the Eikon-specific ones that you unlock gradually through story progress. |
||
Masterclass Upgrade all feats and abilities to their maximum. |
||
For this you must fully upgrade ALL abilities from all skill trees, including the one in the middle. This costs 118,400 Ability Points total. After 2 playthroughs you still won’t have enough points from quests alone. Luckily, you can farm 1,120 Ability Points every 90 seconds at the end of New Game+ by defeating Hyenas in Vidargaes (last area of the game). You will probably have around 30,000 left after the New Game+ playthrough so will need to grind this for 30 minutes.

For the Hoard Obtain all curiosities. |
||
This trophy description is very misleading. You don’t need all Curiosities, only the 22 specific ones displayed in Clive’s Room at the Wall of Memories (unlocked in Main Quest #27: Cid the Outlaw). In the inventory they will show a yellow text “displayed in Clive’s chambers”. Any other curiosities don’t count. None of the Orchestrion Rolls count, and none of the purchasable ones from merchants are needed. There are a lot more than 22 Curiosities but the majority does not count towards this. After finding all 22 you must interact with the Wall of Memories in Clive’s Room to unlock the trophy. You will get them automatically while following Final Fantasy XVI Collectible Guide (All-in-One).

Gear can be crafted and upgraded at the Blacksmith in The Hideaway. You are introduced to him in Main Quest #8: Hide, Hideaway. For this trophy it counts any weapons, armor pieces, and individual upgrades. Just craft any 5 total. You gain more blueprints and materials from story progress.
Half Past Twilight Craft the legendary sword Gotterdammerung. |
||
» Final Fantasy XVI Gotterdammerung Location
The Pen Is Mightier Open 10 letters at the reading table. |
||
Letters can be viewed at the Reading Table in Clive’s Room (unlocked in Main Quest #27: Cid the Outlaw). There are 48 letters total but for this trophy you only need 10. Letters arrive after progressing through main quests and side quests. You will get all of them automatically while following Final Fantasy XVI Collectible Guide (All-in-One).
For specifically just this collectible type refer to Final Fantasy XVI All Letter Locations. |
||
The More You Know Help Harpocrates attain a knowledge level of 5. |
||
Harpocrates is the old man found in The Hideaway. You can talk to him between quests and it will update his “knowledge level” depending on your game progress. Basically, his level is just a reflection of your overall game completion. With every quest you complete you gain a little bit more “knowledge” which you can then share with Harpocrates. Level 8 is the maximum but you only need Level 5 which is roughly 62.5% game completion.
You will get this automatically by following Final Fantasy XVI Collectible Guide (All-in-One). The earliest opportunity to unlock this is in Main Quest #48: Onward. You can still talk to Harpocrates later at any time. He’s still there after the story. You could technically ignore him completely and only talk to him once after having done all quests and he will reach level 5 right away. |
||
Careful Whisper Obtain all available items from your patrons. |
||
Patron Items are rewards you get from the “Patron’s Whisper” shop in The Hideaway. You unlock more of them by increasing your Renown. Renown comes from doing Main Quests, Side Quests, Hunt Board Quests. To afford all Patron Items you will need practically 100% game completion. You get everything automatically by following Final Fantasy XVI Collectible Guide (All-in-One).
For specifically just this collectible type refer to Final Fantasy XVI All Patron Item Locations. |
||
You Can Pet the Dog Pet Torgal 5 times. |
||
First, you must reach Main Quest 09: Fanning Embers. At this point you automatically unlock a dog companion called Torgal. After you get a tutorial to press to use Torgal’s Animal Instinct to show you the next objective, you can pet him. He will have a heart icon over his head. You must pet him 5 times total, this can be done in a row in the same spot. You can still pet him later at any point, it’s still possible after the story. |
||
A Fine Hound Execute and land 5 Precision Sics (excluding battles in the Hall of Virtue). |
||
First, you must reach Main Quest 09: Fanning Embers. At this point you automatically unlock a dog companion called Torgal. You can command the dog to do “Sic” attacks with . Do this 5 times total.
When You Ride Alone Ride Ambrosia for the first time. |
||
Step 1: Finish Main Quest 31 “Release”. After this, Side Quest “The White-Winged Wonder” gets marked on the map at Martha’s Rest. Step 2: Finish Side Quest “The White-Winged Wonder” at Martha’s Rest. At the end you unlock Ambrosia, a Chocobo Mount that you can ride around the map. Step 3: After finishing the side quest hold to call the Chocobo and to mount it. This unlocks the trophy. |
||
Here Be Rosfields Visit all areas on the world and local maps. |
||
There are 68 areas as per the trophy tracker. You will visit all areas automatically by finishing all main quests and side quests. You will get this while following Final Fantasy XVI Collectible Guide (All-in-One).
The only “hidden” areas are the ones visited exclusively during late-game side quests. For example, Mikkelburg during Duty Undying II is one of the last areas you will visit. The area of the final boss fight doesn’t count so you will actually be able to pop this trophy before heading to the final boss. For the full Map of each region refer to Final Fantasy XVI Full World Map. Many players report ending up with 67/68, if this happens to you simply compare these maps against your in-game map and check that you have no little spot grayed-out. If you are one short it means you have some place grayed out, so zoom in on your map and check carefully which spot is missing. |
||
Eureka Spend 36,000 gil at the Tub & Crown. |
||
This is only possible after reaching Main Quest 28: Home, Sweet Home. At that point you unlock the “Tub & Crown” in The Hideaway. It’s the pub to the immediate right of Charon’s Toll Shop marked on the map. Quickest way is to buy drinks for 10,000 four times in a row. If you don’t have 40,000 gil yet you can do it later after amassing enough money or try to sell everything in your inventory to get the required amount. Make a manual save beforehand, after getting the trophy reload the save to get the money back. |
||
Fantasy, Finally Complete the game on “Final Fantasy” mode. |
||
Final Fantasy mode is not available from the start. It’s unlocked after beating the story once on any difficulty (finishing on the easiest difficulty “Story Focused” is enough).
After finishing the story, the game prompts you to create a “clear save”. Create the clear save > go to the Title Screen > click “New Game+” > Final Fantasy Mode > select your clear save to carry over progress. All of your gear, inventory, level, abilities etc. fully carry over. Now rush through the story again. To speed it up, ignore all Side Content and skip all cutscenes by pressing > hold . You are allowed to use the “cheat rings” which makes this significantly easier, especially the autododge from Ring of Timely Evasion. Recommended Equipment:

PowerPyx says
Proud to present you with another complete Day-1 Guide 🙂
An extensive Final Fantasy XVI Wiki is also available that includes all quests.
This was the last big game before the summer break. Nothing releasing for 2 months. I’ll be back in August with Armored Core VI. Have a great summer everyone and enjoy the game! <3
Omar says
Thanks a lot!
Strangegoo says
Thanks! Y’all are the best <3
Unah says
Thanks Power!
ryan says
shield ensign wasn’t in my inventory after carrying over save from demo will this afffect trophies?
PowerPyx says
No, it doesn’t count towards trophies.
L says
You have Diamond Dust as a move for Titan under your recommended Eikon sets. I’m sure that is a mistaken. What move did you actually mean?
PowerPyx says
It’s correct in the guide. You must first fully upgrade it, then slot it to Titan (fully upgrading an ability allows you to use it with any Eikon). It’s the same for slotting Gigaflare to Odin. I added clarification in the guide 🙂
AM7 says
Great looks like an easy platinum even, I thought it was going to be more challenging than the above.
Nice work, PowerPyx. Thank you!
Bob says
Thanks for the amazing guide!
Can you confirm that if I transfer save from the demo, I am not missing any trophies?
Thanks!
Sophie says
The first trophy in the collectible guide is straight after the demo, so you can just continue from
The demo save
d3mystic says
Thanks for the guide. The farming location, is it only available after completing NG+? I want to make defeating NG+ my last non-plat trophy to be earned, so was wondering if that tactic worked only after finishing it. If so, is there another farm spot, even if slower?
PowerPyx says
Can also be done at end of first playthrough but will be slower. It only gives 480 AP every 90 seconds in first playthrough vs. 1120 per 90 seconds in New Game+. There’s really no point doing it before the end of NG+, you can only equip 3 Eikons / 6 abilities at the same time. Can always reset skills for free, it refunds you all Ability Points when doing this, so you can respec to the skills you have in use.
Adravil says
Thank you! Now, when you confirmed that the Platinum is easily achievable, the game purchase starts to make sense.
P.S. I hope you are still having fun playing games that you’re compiling these guides for, and not just mechanically playing it from start to finish like doing some kind of job haha :D
angelbless says
Thank you very much for the day 1 guide!
I really thought it was going to be harder, like not allowing rings on the hardest difficulty. But anyway, guess nobody will complain now, specially trophy hunters xD
Anonymous says
Thank you for the trophy guide. I wasn’t expecting the game’s Platinum trophy difficulty to be so easy, I was expecting it to be similar to Final Fantasy VII Remake (or harder), so that’s relief to me. This game is looking like it’s one of the best games of the year and the best mainline Final Fantasy in a long time, so I’m looking forward to playing it in the future (after I’m done catching up on the PS5 games I haven’t played yet).
By the way, to anyone buying the game soon, I recommend buying the physical edition for £53.85 (from Hit), rather than the digital edition which costs £64.99.
Raid says
I preordered the game for 55 euros instead of 80, so you’re absolutely right when you suggest the physical copy.
David says
As always you rock sir!
Trophyator says
Hi Pyx,
thanks for the great guide!
Do you need a collectible guide or are you able to find them on your own because with some ingame help (like “You found 3/4 in this area” or a map marker?
I really don’t enjoy having to look at collectible guides all the time to platinum a game.
PowerPyx says
There are no area trackers. But the side quests are marked on the map and most collectibles come as side quest rewards. Only “hidden” things are a few curiosities, Chronoliths, and the Notorious Marks. Rest you get get from quests.
Sophie says
Could we at least just play the story and then go collect/ do everything after? So I can play through without following the guide first? 🙂 sounds like it by the way it’s written
PowerPyx says
None of the trophy-relevant collectibles are missable, so yes can do the collecting after story 🙂
In this case the collectible by types will probably be easier to follow so you can quickly compare what you already got and just go for the rest.
Alien99 says
Powerpyx – Please fix your website, lagging and always refreshing by itself.. so annoying.
(Iphone 14 Pro Max using safari browser)
PowerPyx says
Thanks for reporting! I’ve had a couple people report this but haven’t been able to replicate it on my end.
How long into the pageview does this happen? Does it always happen or only sometimes? Does it happen with a browser other than Safari (Chrome, Opera, Firefox etc)? I’ll investigate it more. Any extra info helps (or if anyone else reading this gets the issue please let me know what device / browser / how frequently / how long after opening the site / if same issue with other browsers). If you could help me test it further please contact me via email (mail@powerpyx.com), I need someone who gets the issue consistently to test different page configurations and narrow down the issue from there. Since I’m not getting the issue it seems to be something device specific which makes it harder to narrow down.
Sophie says
I get this quite frequently as well, iPhone 13 Pro, always using safari. Probably almost any time I’m scrolling through a guide it will re-fresh automatically. I might try on chrome for a bit and see how that goes.
Vaughn says
I get this always on here , thought it was just me lol im using ipad 9th gen , page keeps reloading randomly and error codes and goes very slow , it only ever happens on this website
PowerPyx says
After how many minutes does it refresh the page for you? Seems to be an issue unique to certain Apple products running Safari, I’m still investigating it. Would be curious if you guys also get this problem with a different web browser? Then I’d at least know if it’s only Safari specifically.
PowerPyx says
Hi guys, the refresh/crash is a known bug in iOS firmware 16.5.1 & 16.5.2. It’s not on our end, it’s iOS webkit being unstable. Updating to the newest version of iOS 16.6.0 or newer will fix it. You can update the iOS firmware from device settings.
Raid says
I’m glad they kept the accessories even in Final Fantasy mode. I’m doing it without them anyway, but it feels like a safe spot in case you need some help.
dragonkyn20 says
Great guide as always!
If I could make a small suggestion, I’d recommend using the Timely Focus ring over the Timely Evasion ring after getting used to the combat. You miss out on a lot of counter damage if you rely solely on regular evades, where with Focus, you’re practically guaranteed a counter after evading.
Miles says
I don’t know if it’s a translation problem or not that “You’re Not the Boss of Me” trophy is to get a “Medal of Valour” for the first time in Chinese version. There seems to have more than one medal of valour in the game that one could get by beating some bosses without taking any damage. I was wondering if there is a list of which boss can get such a medal.
Sealior says
Another way too easy game for the casuals sigh … why are there no hard difficult platinums anymore beside fromsoftware games…
Cosmo says
Except that fromsoft games are not hard to platinum. They might be intrinsically hard (up for debate) but they nearly all have straightforward trophy lists.
cbrown says
You can make it as hard as you want. Just because it can be made easy doesn’t mean you have to accomplish it on easy mode. Allowing for a wide variety of people to platinum is not inherently a bad thing IMO.
ryan says
their still alot of hard plats probably few of them on mainstream games however sony specifically said no first party game for them would have a hard plat a few years back.If you like action games Soulstice that came out last year i think would probably be pretty hard to plat.But their still tons of hard plats coming out youre just not looking hard enough.And If a game came out just a few years ago lot of hard plats exist like mein leben on wolfenstein TNC or plating Tony hawk 1 2 or Plating the vanquish remaster.But yeah i doubht u have plat all the hard stuff in last 5 years so look back.
Cosmo says
Thanks for the great guide.
One suggestion: For the Packing Heat trophy there’s Adamantoise in the same area. They regularly shoot projectiles and are quite tanky so you don’t have to worry about Torgal or your companions killing it.
Nikki_boagreis says
Great trophy roadmap, thank’s for submitting this very useful guide. I platinumed FF15 thank’s to the Powerpyx trophy roadmap, hopefully this proves as useful.
Ben says
Can you get the Never Coming Down trophy in Stage Replay or does that count as an extension of the Hall of Virtue?
PowerPyx says
Stage Replay works for boss without taking damage so it should work for any of the combat trophies too.
JellOwned says
Thanks for the guide !
For the “Packing Heat” trophy, it’s easy if you do it on the “Headwind” mission against Suparna & Chirada. Just focus on killing Chirada and use Heatwave when Suparna uses its range attack (green orbs).
Snake2410 says
Chirada in Louder than Words works really well too. It throws out the green orb every 2 – 3 attacks and it’s very easy to counter it with Heatwave.
Arkonite says
Hello PowerPyx 🙂
Thank you for your time and your great job as always, it can’t be said enough.
For the trophy “You’re not the Boss of me”, I made a save before the Midnight Raven and I beat him 5 times without being hit and the trophy didn’t pop. I tried with the auto-dodge ring and without (I play without any rings of assistance). I even earned the medal of valor, which means I beat the Raven without getting hit.
Any ideas of the precise conditions for unlocking the trophy? Maybe you can only do it in arcade mode?
Thank you 🙂
PowerPyx says
It 100% works in regular first playthrough, doesn’t have to be in Arcade or Stage Replay. Best bet is reinstalling the game, sometimes fixes weird issues like this. You also can’t get hit during the QTE scenes where you must mash the button.
JhOnNY_HD says
Are you playing with the PS5 on English??
They change the trophy names in other languages.
In spain for example the trophy says earn your first medal.
Look at your trophies one by one
Shabyoob says
Hey,
You mentioned to freely craft weapon and armours because materials are abundant a, as long as you don’t sell any weapon or material. What about upgrading all gear or that wouldn’t be possible in one playthrough?
PowerPyx says
For upgrades you will eventually run out of certain materials, but most can be farmed from enemies or bought from shops. The important unique materials needed to craft weapons aren’t used in weapon upgrades, so you can’t accidentally spend them. You can’t fully upgrade items in the first playthrough, their full upgrades are only available in New Game+.
Shabyoob says
Gotcha, thank you!
BigSlim3808 says
If you have the AP to spend and can buy Heatwave before fighting Jill, she is by far the easiest way to get the “Packing Heat” trophy. She mostly attacks with projectiles that are easy to read and counter, and your team is leaving her to you.
Snake2410 says
The boss at the end of the Lowder than Words main quest works really well too. It likes to throw a projectile every 2 – 3 attacks that is really easy to counter.
SerahsArmpit says
Dumb question but are materials that say are valuable and can be sold for gil like Black Blood aren’t used for anything besides selling?
Leon says
Yes, it’s safe to sell items that have “can be sold for gil” so don’t worry about selling those.
KA says
Hey Pyx, do curiosities and Boss medals carry over to NG+?
Wax says
Thanks for the guide.
I have won all the collection trophies,But I didn’t win the ‘Here Be Rosfields’ trophy,PS5 Trophy Tracker Display 67/68,I compared the full map of the website,Exactly the same.Can this be a bug?
PowerPyx says
You need to finish all side quests, some areas come from that.
Complatinumer says
The trophy “I am the Thunder” seems to be glitched for me. My tracker is stuck at 9/50 and won’t progress further. I’ve spammed blind justice for atleast 15 minutes to be sure it’s glitched and the trophy still won’t pop. I’ve counted atleast 300 blind justice balls and nothing.
Datrael says
You have to use Blind Justice and then detonate the balls. To detonate them just smack the mob with the sword and the balls should burst.
Richard says
Hey Powerpyx! How difficult is final fantasy mode in comparison to the story game as i found it easy enough? 🙂
PowerPyx says
To some extent even easier because you start with all abilities unlocked and will already know the game. Just some of the later bosses can take a few tries without the autododge ring. With autododge it’s no harder than easy mode: Spam Eikon abilities, autododge while they recharge, spam them again and repeat.
Foxeh says
Great guide as always PP. 1 question though, I’ve just unlocked Earth but I can’t see ‘Diamond Dust’ you have it listed as an Earth skill on your recommended set up
PowerPyx says
It unlocks later. You then need to fully upgrade it to use it with Titan for NG+.
Darkflame says
Hi, I’m having a problem with the “Here be Rosefield” achievement. I’m currently stucked on 67/68 locations discovered. I had completed all of the side quests except the “priceless” side quest, all of the notorious marks slayed, all chronolith trials bested. I looked really close at the map, but couldn’t find any possible area that’s covered in shadow. Since you mentioned that the final boss area doesn’t count, could you give me some locations that are missable? or is there a complete list for the 68 locations?
Yassir says
had the same issue, look at his Final Fantasy 16 (XVI) Full World Map Revealed, look at each area on your phone of whatever and compare it with your current maps in game, I did it and found a little tiny area greyed out, trophy popped after that
good luck
Raxious says
same here, did every single side quest and everything, no missing area’s on the map and it’s showing as 67/68 🙁
xikes says
Complete ALL side quests. Including “Priceless”.
Skippy says
Can someone explain how to do the made to be broken trophy. I’ve been in limit break and killed enemies but the tally doesn’t go up. I’ve killed about 50 enemies and it’s gone up by 2. I think this is bugged
PowerPyx says
Just what it says in the guide. It took me more than 20 too, might not always count properly. On the right side it should show the text “Semi-Prime Finish” when defeating an enemy while having Limit Break turned on. You can check this is the correct thing to do under Abilities > Limit Break > (Details) > scroll down to “Semi-Prime-Finish”, says it’s for defeating an enemy while semi-primed.
Skippy says
I had it popped up on the right side saying Semi-Primed Finish many times. I finally got it to pop up after numerous attempts of farming the same mission many times. It was very inconsistent. But thank you for the triangle tip. Didn’t know about that
Ian-No1-M says
Hello PowerPyx, thank you for this brilliant trophy guide and roadmap. I subscribed to your YouTube channel some time ago and watch many of your videos, the information here is top notch, and extremely helpful.
I only recently discovered your guides (Star Wars Jedi: Survivor) with your help i did indeed earn the platinum trophy, and as a small YouTube creator myself used a lot of your tips in making some videos.
Knowing when and where to try for your trophies is extremely helpful and again for Final Fantasy XVI i’m using a lot of your information to assist in the making of videos.
My question is this, would you like a tag and mention in appreciation of your great help in my videos?
Thanks again Ian.
Leon says
I managed to get 50k stagger damage in my first run on one of the bosses by just using Ignition -> Flames of Rebirth -> Earthen Fury -> Windup (lvl 2) -> Pile Drive -> Judgment Bolt (lvl 2)
Vonify says
I’m trying to get all the Orchestrion Rolls and the final one I need from a vendor was the one in the Hanged Man but I’ve already done the two sidequests which make the shop inaccessible. So does another shop appear at some point that could sell me it or am I locked out of getting all curiosities until NG+?
Vonify says
Never mind I just needed to progress one more main story quest then Charon was able to sell it to me.
Annysia says
Where can you find the 2nd “On Fortune and Heaven” ring? Is it only in NG+ or is there another elsewhere in the game. I’m on mission #40 and have only been able to buy 1 from Charon.
Leon says
You can buy the same things again in a NG+run. After that, go to Blackthorne and go to the Accessories tab then combine the two
Yassir says
Hello PowerPyx,
Thank you for the guide, I am having trouble with Here Be Rosfields trophy, i’ve done all the side quests and hunts and the trophy did not pop, i started new game + but not i fear i would need to redo all the side quests for it to pop, any suggestions
Yassir says
nvm, I looked at the full map you have and found a little tiny spot gryed out, trophy popped
cheers
hawkwind says
Is it possible to create a new Clear Save after finishing the story and reloading the original Clear Save? I just beat the story but I still need to do all Chronoliths and fully upgrade all Eikon abilities. If I start NG+ now I won’t have all the required Eikon abilities. I hope I am not screwed.
PowerPyx says
Yes you can load the Clear Save after the story – it will put you back before the endboss and you can still finish any remaining quests, chronoliths and other open world stuff.
Vaughn says
Hi PowerPyx the browser is still refreshing? I’ve been on this guide about 5mins reading and it’s happening about 3/4 times in 5mins.
Ben says
Either the PS5’s trophy tracker is broke or the trophy “With Two Ds” is glitched for me. I’ve done 2 out of the 4 quests you get upgrades for yet the tracker still says I’m at 0%.
Mik says
Did you find a solution? It happened to me as well.
Bleugj says
I noticed this too. It’s because the trophy is for MAXING two things, and it takes two quests per thing to max out. When you do another quest for the same person to upgrade again it’ll get to 50%, then the trophy will pop when all 4 quests are completed.
Hoya says
Do you need to replay the tutorial area again in “Final Fantasy” mode to get the trophy for that mode? Or can you just skip it and go straight to the point after it?
PowerPyx says
You can skip the prologue/tutorial and it will still unlock the trophy in the end.
Kaydon says
The Here Be Rosfields is definitely bugged. hopefully a ptach will come.
Azu says
I’m having an issue with here be rosefields trophy. I have completed every side quest and challenge and all hunts. I have no grey area on the map, I basically unlocked everything and it’s stock at 67/68. We need to know what counts, do the areas on the stages count? I don’t wanna re-do them and waste lots of time for nothing, also I have carried over the save data from the demo, maybe the first area does count? I have seen many people online having the same issue as mine. I have spent whole day trying to figure out a solution with no luck. Please help.
AlchemyMondays says
How in Ultima’s name are you managing to use all those abilities in the span of one stagger? I use my Zan lv 5 immediately, limit break, gigaflare, and use dancing steel but it only gets me to level 3-4 zan.. I mastered all the relevant abilities in the combo and it still isnt enough.
PowerPyx says
Depends on the enemy/boss, some are staggered for longer and some shorter. Just use as many of these abilities as possible in one stagger. On long staggers I did around 170,000 damage with this in later parts of NG+.
Ace says
How do you stop party members attacking the enemies when trying to do cold blooded trophy etc? Pulling my hair out with them!
4ipuxa says
did the platinum today.
really glad to be done with it.
the plat was more of the exhausting ones but the game had some nice moments, but not nearly as enjoyable as GOW or Horizon Zero Dawn or even FF15 or FF7 remake.
I really wonder why these game series are called Final Fantasy rather than Dark Fantasy.
the guide was great, thanks a lot.
SerahsArmpit says
I thought the difference between Story Focused and Action Focused wasn’t that big, but going into Final Fantasy (difficulty) is like 5x harder than Action Focused. Just the first fight against Jill took me nearly 5 minutes (with Gotterdammerung + Genji Gloves at level 49). It will probably take nearly as long to beat as first playthrough even with skipping cutscenes just because bosses have so HP.
SerahsArmpit says
Nevermind, just reached the “point of no return” after about 6 hours. Guess there really are a lot of cutscenes (+side quests)
l33tstyl3z says
It may have been said but there’s a lot of comments, you can get the upgraded EXP accessory much earlier than stated in the guide. I was able to craft and equip it starting with ‘The Gathering Storm’ main quest.
Just thought worth pointing out if people wanted to start getting even better exp even sooner.
Steven Kirtsanis says
little disappointed I’ve done everything besides clearing all the Chronoliths and seems like the Medicine Chest has not worked bit heart braking as I’ve put a lot of hours into this
Lee says
When you got the chest did you go back into the room to view them? When i went over them all it popped for me
Bryan says
You have to talk to the medic lady again after you’ve completed her side quest. For some reason that’s when she gives the medicine chest to you.
Anon says
can anybody please clarify if the second playthrough for masterclass AP GRIND trophy includes doing ALL the sidequests again aswell? or just purely running through the Story quests only?
PowerPyx says
Only main quests. Can skip all side quests. Explained in Step 2 of the Roadmap “Now rush through the story again. To speed it up, ignore all Side Content and skip all cutscenes”
Lizpie says
For the “Packing Heat” trophy post-game, I did this eaily with a full squad by travelling to The Edge of Infinity and fighting the Akashic Plague. Remember to remove ring of timely evasion and ring of timely strikes to make it easier. Wait for it to release the blue balls and activate heatwave counter on those.
Chris says
Does anyone know if you accidentally sold ragnorok, can you unlock the trophy for the sword gutter on new game plus?
ratt says
Let me know if you find out please.
ratt says
I just did this and it worked. So I rushed through NG+ to the end, ignoring EVERYTHING but the main stories.
Again, DON’T SELL ANYTHING.
And then afterwards I creafted the Gotterdammerung Reforged in NG+, only doing the hunts and side missions I needed to get the materials, and voila, the Twilight trophy along with the Plat popped.
Thank goodness for that! I would have enjoyed the NG+ more if the combat was fun but to me it was way too simple and not engaging at all. But anyway, got the plat now!
Henrique says
Hi!
The “Here be Rosfields” is Glitched
Many people, me included, completed The map and the trophy didn’t pop, it’s stuck in 67/68. Happened to me even in The NG+
And yes, I did all sides, hunts and went to Weeping Rent and Edgy of Infinity
I did everything before fighting The final boss
Axel says
Check the map very carefully. I had a small spot left in South-Waluth, where a cutscene takes you to a further place at the map.
InnesJack says
Hello, how do you obtain On Fortune and Heavens II accessory? Is this only available in New Game +?
GrumpyButNice says
Yes. Only in NG+. You will be able to buy a second On Fortune and Heavens at the same point in the story progress during the second play through as in the first in the hideout. Then just have the blacksmith “reinforce” the two On Fortune and Heavens into one On Fortune and Heavens II.
HereBeTrophyBugs says
Just finished my FF mode playthrough. I didn’t get the Rosfields trophy the first time even though I did everything, I hoped I would be like many people who said they got it on their 2nd try, but I didn’t get it again. I did every side quest, every hunt. Flower fields for Jill, island with Torgal, prison in Waloed with Dorys, no missions in Clive’s message box, no missions at Alliant reports, no mission icons anywhere. I have the Weeping Rent corridor, the Edge of Infinity area. All I can think is delete saves and everything and try ANOTHER “quick” story focused playthrough, but I think I will hate the game after playing it a 3rd time.
Damnation_VII says
Question. Can anyone tell me if the collectibles in Clive’s chamber carry over into NG+ FF mode? I heard it doesn’t and it seems like a waste because even though ill have the trophy, my ocd will make me want to collect them all over again. Is it even worth doing side quests in Final Fantasy mode, are there better rewards?
Grant says
Is anyone aware if the Yes, Eikon trophy is glitched? I cannot unlock this trophy and I have maxed out 2 Eikon skill trees. There was a recent patch, could this have perhaps caused the trophy to now be bugged?
Mesc says
For the Rising Tide DLC. The two Leviathan ability combat-related trophies can be easily done in the 1st miniboss during the main DLC story. It spawns a bunch of minions every so often. I did this on FF difficulty so it’s not that hard.
