Final Fantasy VII Rebirth has 86 types of Materia you can collect. This guide shows all Materia locations in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth (including duplicates). Materia can be divided into 5 categories – Magic Materia (Green), Command Materia (Yellow), Support Materia (Blue), Complete Materia (Purple), Summoning Materia (Red). The Magic Materia are active spells you can cast, the rest are supportive spells or passive boosts.
Using Materia consumes MP, which you can see in the bottom right corner when opening the Command Menu, next to your health bar. More powerful spells cost more MP but it gradually recovers during combat and when resting and using items. Materias can also be leveled up by simply having them equipped in combat (you don’t even need to use them, just have them equipped). Each Materia level unlocks new spells, or in the case of passive Materia it makes the effect stronger. A quick way to farm level-ups is in the Chapter 8 Musclehead Colosseum or in Chadley’s VR Missions. If you plan to do a hard difficulty playthrough it’s important to have gotten a wide range of Materia and leveled them up sufficiently.
None of the Materia are missable because you unlock Chapter Select after the first playthrough and can go back everywhere. This guide shows everything in chronological order. Most Materia have multiple spawns, the duplicates are included here too. Everything from the open world is still accessible in Chapter 13 via Chapter Select.

falsaai says
I collected all Materais in chapter 1 but none of them are in my inventory in chapter 2. Is that normal? I don’t understand how is that possible.
Thank you very much for the guides. I’ve been using the collectable guide and so far it’s amazing.
PowerPyx says
It’s normal, you lose all Chapter 1 Materia at the end of Chapter 1. You only keep them during that Chapter. Can get new copies of all those materia elsewhere in the game though.
Caim says
The suspension bridge fast travel spot in Gongaga has a mushroom on the left that leads you to a warding materia.
Rodrigo says
Magnify materia in chapter one, not there… i think i got it in the demo and i skipped the part in the real game and it dint transfer to my saved data….
PowerPyx says
Nothing from Chapter 1 transfers over to the rest of the game. Doesn’t matter if you redo it in the full game or the demo, it deletes your inventory at the start of Chapter 2.
Caelum says
There’s a Precision Defense Focus Materia in chapter 2 on the island next to the first protorelic mission.
KWa says
Comet & Spare Change are listed to be found in Chapter 1, but I can’t find them? Any idea why?
