Fort Condor is a minigame in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. It’s first available in Chapter 4 from the Phenomenon Intel (Protorelics) in Junon Region. There are 4 Fort Condor minigames, each having a Normal and Hard Mode version. Normal Mode is when you play the Phenomenon Intel for the first time. Hard Mode is unlocked after finishing all 4 Phenomenon Intel in Junon. Then you can revisit the Phenomenon Intel locations to replay this minigame in Hard Mode.
Finishing all minigames in Hard Mode is needed to unlock all of Johnny’s Treasure Trove Items.
Tip: You can make Normal & Hard Mode of this minigame much easier by changing the combat difficulty to “Easy” in the game settings. The combat difficulty is a separate setting from the minigame difficulty but makes the minigame easier too. ATB will recharge faster with this setting.
Fort Condor – Unlock Requirement
- Normal Mode is unlocked when doing the Junon Phenomenon Intel in Chapter 4 for the first time (4 total).
- Hard Mode is unlocked after clearing all Junon Phenomenon Intel in Chapter 4. Then the Fort Condor boards will glow purple and you can replay them at the Phenomen Intel locations.
- Refer to » All Phenomenon Intel (Protorelic) Locations.
Fort Condor – How to Play
Fort Condor is the minigame you may already know from Final Fantasy VII Remake. It works the same way here. The goal is to destroy the boss unit on the other side. Look at the ATB gauge on the top left, every time it fills 2-3 segments you can spawn a unit. On the right side it shows what units the CPU will spawn. In the top right it shows what each unit type’s strength/weakness is (attack, defense, ranged). Always play a unit that’s strong against the upcoming units, as seen on the right side. So if you see the opponent spawn attack units you should always put defense units on that side. If the opponent uses defense units you put ranged, if he puts ranged you put attack. After you defeat the boss units you’ll win.
Fort Condor – Hard Mode Strategies
After you finished all 4 of the regular Fort Condor minigames you’ll unlock Hard Mode. This can be played by revisiting the Phenomenon Intel in Junon region.
Tip: Putting the game on easy difficulty in the settings makes this easier. The minigame will still be “Hard Mode” but changing the difficulty does make it easier!
On Hard you can only place a limited number of all units (including the lowest level units which were unlimited on Normal). For the first 3 stages, the default Team Setup #1 “Balanced” is fine. For the 4th stage you should use Team Setup #2 “Offense Focused”. Because the boss uses poison around it that will kill all melee units, you must attack with ranged units. Put 3 Trebuchets in front of the boss to bombard him (after clearing out all enemies).
While you have a limited amount of units to play, so does the enemy. After defeating them all you can spam your 3 Trebuchets and they’ll make quick work of the boss. You can also try the “Offense Focused” team for the other stages if you have trouble with the Balanced Setup. You change this by tapping R2 before the match in the character screen.
On the right side of the screen you can see what enemy units are coming up. Always play 1-2 units that counter that unit (what the opponent is weak against). Prioritize using the strong units that cost more ATB, they have more health and deal much more damage and will quickly clear the path forward.
For heroes always use Cloud + Barret. Use them against regular enemies when there are multiple close together. Especially Cloud will deal a lot of AOE damage that kills most enemy units. This will instantly clear the path forward so your units can advance to the boss. If you have some ranged (green) units left to play after reaching the boss, put them in the middle in front of the boss. This way they can attack enemies spawning on either side and can also hit the boss from a distance.
Follow along with the above video walkthrough and play the units in the shown order.

This general strategy is very helpful, thank you very much!
One thing to update, you say use the balanced team for hard mode #1-3, and also say to use trebuchets. But balanced team doesn’t have trebuchets.
Wulfke says
He said use balanced on first three and use offense focused for fourth one which has the trebuchets
