All Aboard for Sector 4
After the cutscenes you have a bit of time to walk around the train. Head up near the front to talk to Tifa, then head forward one train car. After speaking with Barret you can grab the Healing Materia from on the bench.
After picking it up head back to the car with Tifa.
Separate Ways
An emergency scan will commence, alerting Shinra to your location in the train. A group of Slug-Ray drones will break into the car, and you need to quickly take them out. After the first three two more will enter, then when they’re destroyed head to the next car.
After defeating the ones inside the train you will all jump out, then need to clear one more group of three.
Looking for a Friend
After the three in the tunnel are defeated, move towards the objective to meet up with Barret. Go up onto the raised platform on the right before the curve in the tunnel to find a chest, which will contain 2 Hi-Potions.
Continue down the tunnel and fight another couple drones and some Security Officers. After that you’ll see Barret to the side behind a large fence, and he directs you to head up the stairs on the right to get over to him. He’ll join your party, and you’ll need to take out a couple more Drones and some Grenadiers. When they’re dealt with go over by Barret and Tifa.
Find Stamp/The Nose Knows
Start going down the tunnel towards the objective. Shortly on the right there is a side room you can enter with some Shinra boxes, and a chest containing an Elixer.
Continue forward and there will be a group of drones you need to defeat. After this, instead of going down the tunnel go up the stairs to the left to find a chest at the end of the hallway with some Wererats around it. Deal with them then open the chest to find a Star Pendant.
Next group of enemies will be a couple drones, a couple Guard Dogs, and an Elite Grenadier. After they’re dealt with there is another room on the right with a chest containing an Ether.
Follow the tunnel, then go up the stairs on the left when they’re pointed out to you. Continue up the stairs and deal with the group of Wererates up top, then go down the other side. Before going down the stairs further grab the chest on the left, which contains 2 Antidotes.
Go down the next set of stairs and there will be a new enemy you encounter, named a Gashtrike. These bugs can poison you easily so watch for that during combat. They are weak to Ice magic, but also put up a barrier once low health. When it and the other two enemies are dealt with be sure to grab the chest on the right before proceeding, which contains 2 Hi-Potions.
Continue over the stairs and defeat the two Gashtrike on the other side. Proceed down to the lower level where you will find a couple more, and also a Gashtrike Queen, which is basically just a larger version of the normal ones. Make sure to use Ice magic to quickly increase its stun and it should go down easy. Go over to the other next area where there will be a Vending Machine and Bench you can use, then grab the chest before going up the stairs which contains 3 Phoenix Down.
Down the stairs in the next area you come across a new human enemy, named a Flametrooper. These carry a flamethrower, and when damaged from behind you can cause their fuel tank to explode, damaging them and other enemies around them. After defeating this group of enemies head forward, then go out the gate to the left onto the next set of tracks.
Check the Route
On the next set of tracks head over to the map. After some cutscenes you’ll have to head farther into the tunnel. Instead of taking the left where you are intended, go over to the right where there is another side room you can enter. Inside there are some Shinra boxes and another chest, containing a Leather Bracelet.
Head back out of the room and there will be a couple of Security Officers to defeat, then go down the side tunnel towards the objective.
Train Yard Security
When you reach the end go over and speak to Barret. If you want to before continuing there is one final side room which contains some Shinra boxes, but no chest. Go to the end of the path and you can deal with the enemies. There will be two Flametroopers, as well as two Sentry Launchers that pop out of the ground. These can only be staggered using non-elemental or lightning magic, so stick to those to take them out quicker.
Secret Passageway/Stairway Detour
You can’t go through the tunnel any further, so go up the stairs to the left. Continue along the path until you reach a split and go into the room ahead instead of up the stairs to the right. To the left in this room you can pick up a Lightning Materia, then use the bench and vending machine to rest and stock up, as well as buy the disc 28. Stamp.
Head into the next room, where you’ll need to deal with two Elite Security Officers. Before heading into the next room make sure you have Lightning Materia equipped on as many of your party as you can, as it will be very useful in the upcoming boss fight.
Boss Fight: Crab Warden
This is the first real boss fight where your task should be to cripple a number of appendages before you attack the main body. The focus in the early part of the battle is to take out the four legs and this is best done with your strongest Thunder magic and physical attacks. If Cloud and Tifa are up close slashing away at the legs, the Warden will be busy trying to hit them with its flamethrower and thunder attacks, so it’s a wise move to hang back with Barret and chip away with long-range attacks, healing Cloud and Tifa when you need to.
Destroying each leg significantly builds the Stagger bar, so after 2-3 legs are down, it will enter Stagger and expose the Generator, which is the boss’ real weak spot. Focus all your strongest attacks (especially Thundara) on this while you can to deal huge damage.
When it gears up to use its missile attacks, hide behind the various crates and debris around the map to shield yourself. It will also do an attack where it electrocutes the rails, so make sure you’re in between the rails or you’ll get hurt. Once the legs are gone, it will bring out two Auxiliary Weapons which you should again target to expose the Generator for one final assault.
If you get the chance to summon Ifrit, make sure you do it! He deals really good, consistent damage to aid you and if possible, use Radiant Plume on the Generator during Stagger to take off a massive chunk of life. Also focus on wiping out the Slug-Ray enemies as soon as possible so you can get back to focusing on the Warden.
Hard Difficulty Tips: For this fight, there is very little to add except equip Cloud and Tifa with Elemental-Thunder to boost their attacks, and make sure you use Magnify-Cure to keep everyone topped up. A couple of Thundagas will do huge damage to the legs and the Generator, so if you can afford it then use them. This boss marks the end of the chapter so there’s nothing after it to save MP for.
The Road to Mako Reactor 5
After defeating the Crab Warden you will automatically be on the other side of the first set of crates. Continue along the path then get on the lift at the end to complete the chapter.
This finishes Chapter 5: Dogged Pursuit in Final Fantasy VII Remake. Now the mission Light the Way starts.
