Paying Respects is a side quest in Final Fantasy 7 (VII) Remake. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Paying Respects Side Mission (Odd Job).
Paying Respects becomes available in Chapter 8 when you complete the “Weapons on a Rampage” side quest.

Area: Sector 5 Slums Area – Center District
Quest Giver: Old Man
Requirement: Complete the ‘Weapons on a Rampage‘ side quest in Chapter 8
Reward: Studded Bracer, HP and MP restored, Manuscript: Telluric Scriptures Vol. VIII (Hard Difficulty Only)
Mission Info: A monster infestation in the graveyard is preventing the man from visiting his wife’s resting place. Cloud can clear out the monsters, but first he’ll need a key to the graveyard.
Objectives:
- Obtain the Graveyard Key
- Go to the Slum Public Cemetery and defeat the 3 Venomantis enemies
- Return to the Old Man

Obtain the Graveyard Key
The Graveyard Key can be bought for one Moogle Medal from Moggie in the Children’s Secret Hideout (see ‘The Mysterious Moogle Merchant‘). In case you’ve already bought this, you can skip straight to the next step.
Go to the Slum Public Cemetery and defeat the 3 Venomantis enemies
The Slum Public Cemetary is located in the Nuts n’ Bolts Hills area. There are 3 Venomantis enemies guarding this area, and they are arguably the hardest-hitting regular enemies you’ll have faced yet. These enemies can be vicious and inflict a number of status ailments on you, such as Poison.
Equip your strongest Ice magic and use it to quickly stagger them, then wail on them with Cloud’s strongest abilities such as Triple Slash. Aerith should be used to heal and buff with her defensive materia (Barrier works well here). You should be using Guard and dodge rolling frequently to avoid taking too much damage and always top up your health with Cure when you can.
Return to the Old Man
Upon killing the enemies, you’ll automatically see a short scene in the graveyard and have the option of warping back to the Old Man. Do so and you’ll receive a Studded Bracer (Armor) and restore your HP and MP.
