God of War Ragnarok Secret of the Sands Favor Walkthrough

Secret of the Sands is a Favor (Side Quest) for Sindri in God of War Ragnarok. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Secret of the Sands Side Quest. For an overview of all quests in the game see God of War Ragnarok All Favors.

Requirement: Access to The Canyon (complete Main Mission 4: Groa’s Secret)
Reward: 1500 Kratos XP, 375 Atreus XP, Clears the storm in The Barrens

Objectives:

Find a way to reach the pained creature
Purse the pained creature underground
Destroy the Hafgufa’s bindings
Open the hive cage on the surface

Starting Location: Secret of the Sands

Secret of the Sands can be started by talking to Sindri at his shop in The Canyon, which can be accessed after completing Main Mission 4: Groa’s Secret.

Alternatively, it will start automatically when entering “The Barrens” region of Alfheim.

Find a way to reach the pained creature

Board the Gulon sled near Sindri to ride into The Barrens.

Once there, head east to a cave, then enter it and descend.

Pursue the pained creature underground

Progress through the underground and use the purple crystal to destroy the hive matter.

Deal with a wave of Dark Elves, then climb the wall and turn around. From here, you will be able to destroy some more hive matter, and head down there to find some lore on the wall.

Climb back up and continue across the zipline and grapple across the walls. Drop down to where the Nornir Chest is and open the shortcut, but ignore the chest for now as you will need to open another gate first to continue. Throw your axe at the purple crystal to clear the hive matter, then climb back up and grapple through.

You will arrive on the other side of the shortcut, so open the door. You will now be able to open the Nornir Chest by hitting the three bells quickly.

Head into the cave and fight more Dark Elves, then crawl through. You will have to clear a a bunch of ores by blowing up fire vessels, as well as clear hive matter by using purple crystals.

Once you are able to climb up, rotate the giant lantern with your axe and clear the final hive matter. Fight through the Nightmares and climb the wall.
