Horizon Forbidden West How to Get Flying Mount (Sunwing)

February 17, 2022 by PowerPyx 5 Comments

In Horizon Forbidden West (HZFW) you can get a flying mount to fly across the map. This makes it very fast and easy to reach any place. The only downside is that this is an endgame unlock from the end of the story, so you must play through the story first.

How to Unlock Flying Mount

The flying mount is called “Sunwing”. It unlocks after the 16th Main Story Quest “The Wings of the Ten”. As part of the story you will get this mount for the final story quest. For reference, there are 17 Main Quests in the game, meaning this is just at the very end.

In other words: play through the story and you’ll get it automatically at the end.

There’s no way to unlock flying mounts any sooner than that. It’s simply an automatic story reward.

The fact that it unlocks too late in the game is very disappointing and useless. I aim to finish all sice content before finishing the main story.

Calculated game design, If player is given the fly mount for example at 50% progress then we would very likely just bypass everything and that in a way backlash on the overall experience players would get otherwise.

I agree with the devs team and their decision on the unlock point. making sure we don’t miss the very beautiful world that the game has to offer, the Sunwing is only to help clean up whatever chores you want to do after main story.

Yeah I agree that getting the mount at the end kinda sucks. I was looking forward to using it asap to enjoy flying. But once I get to the end and have the game beat, what’s the point of even having the flying mount? Useless. Good game besides that.
