Horizon Forbidden West The Kulrut Walkthrough

February 17, 2022 by FranciRoosters Leave a Comment

The Kulrut is the 9th Main Story Quest in Horizon Forbidden West (HZFW). This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the The Kulrut main mission.

Starting Location: The Bulwark
Quest Giver: Hekarro and Kotallo (automatically triggered upon completing The Broken Sky)
Quest Level: Level 18
Requirement: having completed The Broken Sky
Reward: +9000 XP, +2 Skill Points
Mission Info: With the Sky Clan’s challengers on their way, the Kulrut is ready to begin. To claim AETHER, Aloy must ensure the competition succeeds.

Objectives:

  • Go to the Memorial Grove
  • Talk to Hekarro
  • Go to the North Barricade
  • Talk to Dekka
  • Kill the Machines
  • Kill the Slitherfang
  • Find Hekarro
  • Enter the Camber below the Throne
  • Recover AETHER
  • Return to the Base
  • Talk to Dekka
  • Return to the Base
  • 0/1 Deliver AETHER to GAIA

Starting Location: The Bulwark

Go to the Memorial Grove

Time to go back to Hekarro to start the Kulrut. Use a Fast Travel Pack to fast-travel to the campfire near the quest marker.

Talk to Hekarro

Once you’ve reached the arena, approach Hekarro and Kotallo to talk to them. In order for the competition to succeed, we need to fend off any potential Regalla’s attackers.

Go to the North Barricade

Run around the arena to reach the opposite end and join Dekka.

Talk to Dekka

Climb up the ladder to automatically trigger a cutscene where you talk to Dekka.

Kill the Machines

Unsurprisingly, Regalla’s machines arrive, so let’s blast the cannon Dekka gave us. Without suffering too much damage, try to activate your Focus every now to scan for any new machine types and, if possible, aim for their weak spots. However, the threat is not over.

Kill the Slitherfang

Thrusted into the arena, we are now attacked by a Slitherfang. The Slitherfang is weak to Fire, Frost and Plasma Damage, so prioritize any of these three elements to defeat it. The Slitherfang moves a lot around the arena, so placing traps could aid you in getting rid of it faster. Don’t forget to loot it once the battle is over.

Find Hekarro

Time to go look for Hekarro to make sure he’s safe after Regalla’s ambush. Climb up the collapsed ramp and sprint to Hekarro.

After a brief fight between Hekarro and Regalla, Hekarro will give us access to the location of the AETHER.

Enter the Camber below the Throne

Climb down the ladder to access the chamber.

Recover AETHER

Approach and use the console to insert the GAIA Kernel and recover AETHER.

Return to the Base

With AETHER retrieved, it’s time to return to the base to add it to GAIA. Before doing so, Dekka calls to our attention as she notices a change in the Visions.

Talk to Dekka

On your way out, approach Dekka to talk to her.

Return to the Base

Now we’re free to return to GAIA with Kotallo in our ranks. Near the Base is a Campfire you can use to quickly fast-travel there.

0/1 Deliver AETHER to GAIA

At the base, Zo, Varl and Erend are all there waiting for you. After some brief catching-up, it’s time to deliver AETHER to GAIA. Enter the control room with GAIA and then approach the console to insert GAIA Kernel and have AETHER merge with her.

However, ELEUTHIA, another of GAIA’s subordinate functions, has sent a distress call to GAIA and needs our help. A trap or maybe a chance to add another subordinate function to GAIA?

This finishes The Kulrut Main Quest in Horizon 2: Forbidden West.
