Introduction
Welcome to the Horizon Forbidden West Trophy Guide! This is a fun and quick platinum that only requires ~50% game completion. You will have to beat the main story, most of the open world activities, find 1 of each type of collectible (not all of them), and play a few specific side quests tied to trophies (not all side quests). You must also scan and kill one of every type of machine (only one variant per machine needed). The only potential missable is scanning the machines Specter and Specter Prime (final story boss) because they are quest-related and don’t have open world spawns, and quests cannot be replayed. Other than that everything is still doable after the story in free-roam. All other machines have open world spawns and you can still do all side activities and side quests after the story. You also get a flying mount at the end of the story, which makes it easy to reach any place quickly. Feel free to do as many or as few side tasks as you like while playing through the game, enjoy it any way you want. If you focus on strictly what is mandatory for trophies you can platinum it in about 30 hours on story difficulty. It can take an extra 10-20 hours longer if playing on higher difficulties or when doing more side tasks than needed.
Step 1: Play through Story, Scan the Missable “Specter” & “Specter Prime”, Unlock Warrior Skills first
Focus on playing through the story. At the end of the story you unlock the Flying Mount which makes it much easier to reach Collectibles and get around the world quickly. You can already work on any side tasks you like, but it’s more time-efficient to do them after the story using the Flying Mount. Some trophy-related Side Quests also require story progress, after the story you will have access to everything.
There are two things to watch out for:
- [MISSABLE] Scan ( ) the two missable machines Specter & Specter Prime. These are the only 2 machines that don’t have open world spawns. Both spawn in the final story quest “Main Quest 17: Singularity“. Because quests cannot be replayed these machines are missable. Just remember to take care of this during the final story quest. All other machines can still be found after the story in the open world. If you die during the final boss make sure to scan it again. After the story check under Notebook > Machine Catalogue that both Specter & Specter Prime registered correctly. If not, you can still reload the last autosave before it gets overwritten.
- [TIME SAVER] Put all skill points in the “Warrior” skill tree first to unlock the melee combos. Having all Melee Combos unlocked is mandatory to play all Challenges in the 4 Melee Pits for Defeated the Enduring. If you spend all your skill points in other categories, you might have to grind out more skill points in the end by doing additional side quests. The melee combos are among the best skills anyway so it doesn’t hurt to have them early. Once you have the Warrior Skill Tree maxed out you can spend your skill points as you like. There are enough skill points to max out all skill trees, but this would require more completion than is necessary for platinum.
Step 2: Points of Interest – Tallnecks, Arena, Hunting Trials, Cauldrons, Melee Pits, Rebel Camps, Outposts, Gauntlet Runs
Clean up any of the Points of Interest you have left. You can still do all of them after the story in free-roam. It’s best to do Tallnecks first to unfog more map icons, and the Arena second to unlock the Legendary Hunter Bow “Death-Seeker’s Shadow”. This is one of the best weapons and will make the remaining tasks faster to complete. Here’s everything you need to do in the recommended order:
- 6 Tallnecks – all needed
- 1 Arena – only “Easy” playlist needed, but worth doing more for Legendary Hunter Bow “Death-Seeker’s Shadow”
- 4 Hunting Grounds (12 Hunting Ground Trials) – all needed, but only requires Quarter Stripes score (bronze)
- 6 Cauldrons – all needed
- 4 Melee Pits – all needed
- 6 Rebel Camps – all needed
- 17 Rebel Outposts – only 4 needed
- 4 Gauntlet Runs – only 2 needed
Step 3: Collectibles
From the Main Collectibles you need one of each type for Recovered 5 Different Collectables and 3 Relic Ruins for Completed 3 Relic Ruins.
- 9 Relic Ruins – 3 needed
- 6 Signal Towers – 1 needed
- 12 Black Boxes – 1 needed
- 9 Vista Points – 1 needed
- 10 Survey Drones – 1 needed
Step 4: Trophy-related Side Quests
Only a few specific Side Quests are needed for trophy purposes. They are all still available after the story in free-roam. The below quests are the ones tied to trophies, everything else can be ignored:
Chose a Desert Commander:
Saved the Daunt:
Aided Kotallo
Healed the Land-gods
Recovered Alva’s Data
Step 5: Miscellaneous / Cleanup
At this point you might still be missing a few quick trophies, such as gliding for 60 seconds in one try, or overriding 10 types of machines. By now you will have everything you need to get any trophy quickly. Clean up whatever you have left, this should only take an hour or less at this point.
Save Game Transfer & Autopopping Trophies
Save Transfer only works from PS4 to PS5 (not from PS5 to PS4). If you platinum the game on PS4 first, you can autopop all trophies on PS5 instantly by importing your platinum save game. With the PS5 version in the title screen or pause menu, click “Import Game from PlayStation 4” to import the save file. You can copy your PS4 save to PS5 via PlayStation Plus Cloud or via USB. When you have the PS4 save on the console it will get automatically detected by the PS5 version. Select the most recent save and it will automatically unlock all trophies from that save, including the platinum itself.
DLC Trophies
While DLCs are not needed for the Platinum, they are needed for 100% trophy completion. For DLCs refer to their dedicated trophy guides below:

You should reach Player Level 50 naturally while working on all other trophies. So don’t worry about this, you shouldn’t have to grind any XP for this.
The story alone will get you to about Level 25-30. You will easily gain the remaining level-ups from the trophy-related points of interest and side quests. If you want to reach Level 50 earlier, you can fast travel between two large machines that give a lot of XP, for example Tremortusk. Play on Story difficulty to defeat it in a few hits, fast travel to a campfire at another machine site (big combat machines give the msot XP) and repeat. Doing this at night is even better, because at night Apex variants spawn more often and those give more XP. You can advance time at any Shelter. |

The Daunt is the starting area in north-east of the map, reached during Main Mission 3: To The Brink. It consists of two larger towns “Chainscrape” and “Barren Light”. You must complete 4 specific side quests from those two towns to unlock the trophy: There are many other side quests and errands in this region but those aren’t needed, only those specific four. You can skip the other quests in the area. |

All Acquisition Machines Killed Killed at least one of every type of Acquisition machine. |
||
There are 18 types of Acquisition Machines. You must defeat one of each type. You don’t need to defeat every sub-variant of these machines, defeating only one of their variants is enough for the trophy. You can keep track of which ones you killed under: Notebook > Statistics > Machines Killed.

Rode All Regular Mounts Rode a Charger, Bristleback, and Clawstrider. |
||
Charger, Bristleback and Clawstrider are the 3 rideable ground-based mounts (the flying mount “Sunwing” isn’t needed for this). You must first unlock their overrides, then you can walk up to them and hold to override the machine and to ride it. You just need to mount it for a moment, then you can move on to overriding the next machine. Charger: override unlocked from the start. Spawn location below: Bristleback: override unlocked from TAU Cauldron, you complete this Cauldron as part of Main Quest 6: The Dying Lands. Spawn location below: Clawstrider: override unlocked from IOTA Cauldron. See Cauldron location & Spawn location below: |
||
All Machine Types Scanned Encountered and Focus scanned every type of machine. |
||
*MISSABLE* – Specter & Specter Prime are missable scans, they only spawn during quests (not replayable) and don’t have open world spawns. Both can be found in the final main story quest “Singularity“. *As of Patch 1.08 “Specter Prime” now gets added to database automatically after story if missed. “Specter” is still missable but as of Patch 1.16 can be scanned in New Game+ if missed.
There are 43 machines in Horizon Forbidden West. You must scan ALL 43 of them. For the trophy you need only ONE variant of each machine. Most machines have multiple sub-variants, e.g. Burrower has “Tracker Burrower” or “Apex Burrower” sub-variants. You only need one single variant scanned per machine, doesn’t matter if you scan the normal variant or Apex variant or whatever other variants.You can keep track of your scans under Notebook > Machine Catalogue. All 43 machines must have an icon there for the trophy to unlock. |
||
Completed a Long Glide Glided uninterrupted for 60 seconds. |
||
This is easiest to do after getting the flying mount, automatically unlocked near the end of the story in Main Quest 16: The Wings of the Ten. Use the flying Mount to fly as high up as the game lets you, then dismount by pressing and immediately hold to open the Glider. Glide all the way down to the ground and you should easily stay in the air for 60+ seconds. |
||
Completed 2 Flying Mount Quests Completed 2 quests that required a flying mount. |
||
There are a total of 4 Flying Mount Quests. You only need to complete 2 of them for the trophy. The flying mount is unlocked automatically near the end of the story in Main Quest 16: The Wings of the Ten. |
||
Won 2 Gauntlet Runs Won first place in two different Gauntlet Runs. |
||
Gauntlet runs are races using your mount. There are 4 of them but you only need 2 for the trophy. They must be done in a specific order. The first one starts in the valley south-west of The Base:
Go there, win the race, then it will add the other ones to your quest log. From there you can track them to see their locations on the map. |
||
Completed a Set of Salvage Contracts Completed all contracts at a Salvage Contractor. |
||
Salvage Contractors are marked by “blue pages” icons on the map. The first one is found 300 meters south-west of Barren Light. There are a total of 4 Salvage Contractors in the game (Barren Light, The Greenswell, The Stillsands, The Raintrace). For this trophy you must complete all the quests of one single Salvage Contractor. Here’s where you find the Barren Light Salvage Contractor: Talk to him and do all his quests. You can track these in the Menu under Quests > Salvage Contracts. His 4 quests are:
After those 4 quests the trophy will unlock. |
||
Completed 4 Rebel Outposts Defeated the outpost leader and recovered the tags from 4 Rebel Outposts. |
||
There are a total of 17 Rebel Outposts. Rebel Outposts are the smaller versions of Rebel Camps. You must kill the leader in the camp, loot their body, and leave the area. For this trophy you only need to do this for 4 of 17 Outposts. They get marked by blue skull icons on the map when discovered. Can also track them under Quests > Rebel Outposts. You can trade in the Tags at The Arena for crafting materials but that’s not needed for the trophy.
Completed 3 Relic Ruins Discovered and completed 3 Relic Ruins. |
||
» Horizon Forbidden West – All Relic Ruins Locations & Solutions
Completed Arena Challenge Set Completed 1 Arena challenge set. |
||
The Arena becomes available after Main Quest 9: The Kulrut. It is found near the center of the map, called “The Maw of the Arena” on the map. It’s directly north of “The Memorial Grove”, a story-related settlement you visit automatically. Here’s the location: Approach the Arena Master outside the Arena to get the side quest “Opening the Arena”. Complete this side quest and then talk to the arena master again to play the arena challenges. For this trophy you only need to complete the 4 fights in the “easy” playlist. Simply kill the machines within the time limit. If you put the game on story difficulty this shouldn’t give you any trouble. A quick way to kill machines is with a Spike Thrower weapon. It is recommended to play a few more challenges for more Arena Medals until you can afford the Legendary Hunter Bow “Death-Seeker’s Shadow”, it’s one of the best weapons in the game and makes other side activities easier and faster. You can trade the Arena Medals at the vendor in front of the arena entrance. |
||
Defeated Machine Strike Challengers Won a match against 2 different Machine Strike challengers. |
||
Machine Strike is board game / minigame. It’s marked by a “blue cube” icon on the map, found at all big settlements. For trophy purposes you only need to beat any 2 opponents. So head to 2 different Machine Strike icons on the map and defeat the opponent on one board. You should play the Machine Strike in Chainscrape first, inside the tavern. It gives you a tutorial how this minigame works and you are given your first set of match pieces there. For trophy purposes it’s enough to play the first challenge “Beginner’s Practice: Easy”. Then head to the second opponent found in Barren Light, just south of Chainscrape and defeat him on his first board, the trophy will unlock after that: |
||
Obtained All Weapon Classes Obtained 1 weapon from every weapon class. |
||
There are 8 weapon classes in total:
The easiest option is to simply buy one of each from Hunter Merchants, found at almost every settlement. They usually have 3 different weapons for sale, visit a few different ones and you will find one of every weapon in their inventories. For all weapon locations see the below guide: |
||
Used all Elemental States Inflicted every elemental state on an enemy at least once. |
||
You can find a list of all Elemental States under Weapons > Inventory. You can keep track of which elemental states you applied under Notebook > Statistics > Combat.
To get this trophy you have two options: The first is to shoot the weak points on machines, usually some canisters, until those weak spots explode and cause an elemental chain reaction. The second option is to use weapons with an elemental effect and shoot an enemy repeatedly until the element has fully built up (element icon on enemy filling up with each hit). You can see your weapon elements in the weapon wheel, it varies for each weapon variant and ammo type used. You will quite certainly get this through natural gameplay will working on the other trophies, without having to go out of your way for this. As you kill machines you will eventually hit their weak spots and cause elemental effects with that. Another quick way is to play the last challenge in each Arena Set which gives you a predefined set of weapons with various elemental effects. All Elemental Effects:
For an overview of all weapons, their locations and their elemental effects see the below guide: |
||
Performed 3 Melee Combos Successfully performed 3 different unlockable melee combos. |
||
In the Menu under Skills > Warrior you must buy 3 melee combos from the Warrior Skill Tree. For example: Block Breaker, Nora Warrior, Spinning Scythe, The Destroyer, Energy Surge. Then use the 3 different combos on enemies (has to hit enemies or else it doesn’t count). You will get this trophy automatically while completing all Melee Challenges in the Melee Pits.
Stealth Killed 10 Machines Performed a stealth kill on 10 machines. |
||
For this you must sneak up to a machine unseen and press to perform a silent strike takedown. Stay crouched ( ) to make less noise. Only small machines can be instant-killed with a stealth takedown. For example, Chargers work well for this (can be found south of Chainscrape settlement). Playing on Story Difficulty helps to kill them in a single hit.
Doing silent strike takedowns on enemies that have been alerted does NOT count. They have to be proper stealth kills, without alerting any machines. An easy method is to keep fast traveling between groups of small machines, sneak up from behind, do stealth takedowns on as many as you can, then fast travel to another group and repeat until the trophy pops. If you use stealth from time to time you should get it naturally over the course of the story. |
||
Tore off 100 Components Detached 100 components from machines. |
||
Every machine has some weak points you can shoot off, such as the sparkers (batteries) on their backs. Shoot off a total of 100 detachable parts throughout the game. This will unlock naturally while working towards other trophies, don’t worry about this. Whenever you fight a machine you will likely shoot off a few parts.
Picked up 5 Heavy Weapons Picked up 5 different heavy weapons. |
||
This trophy doesn’t count weapons you find lying around on the floor or held by human enemies. It only counts heavy weapons from machines that you detach yourself.
Heavy Weapons are dropped by certain large combat-type machines when shooting off their weapon parts. Then you can pick up their weapon and use it against them. They usually carry those weapons on their back.
|
||
10 Types of Machine Overridden Unlocked and used the overrides for 10 different types of machine. |
||
You unlock the overrides for machines by completing the Cauldrons. The best way to go about this is to do all Cauldrons first, then override machines by approaching them in stealth and holding .
» Horizon Forbidden West All Cauldron Locations Some machines require crafting their Override at the Fabrication Terminal of the Base in addition to completing the Cauldrons. The base is visited automatically as part of Main Quest 7: The Eye of the Earth.
To see if you have the Override for a machine unlocked, check under Notebook > Machine Catalogue > click Machine > left site “Cauldron” > Overrides. If it says “Unlocked” you can override it. If it says “Partially unlocked” it means you must craft the override at The Base first. If it says “Cannot override” there is no way to ever override it. None of the Apex Variants of machines can be overridden!
Machines for which you have unlocked the override can be overridden by approaching them in stealth and holding when close to them. If they turn hostile they can’t be overridden, but you can leave the area and come back to try again. Overridden machines will become your allies and fight for you and follow you.The following machines are the easiest, they can be overridden by just completing all Cauldrons, no need to craft their overrides at The Base.
|
||
Defeated the Enduring Defeated the Tenakth melee master known as the Enduring. |
||
Complete all 4 Melee Pits, then you can track the quest “The Enduring” to challenge the Melee Master. To play all Melee Pit challenges you must have all melee skills unlocked from the “Warrior” skill tree. You get skill points from side quests, errands, completing points of interest in the open world, or leveling up.
Fully Upgraded a Valor Surge Upgraded a Valor Surge to its maximum level. |
||
Valor Surges are the equippable passive perks in the skill trees menu. They are the circular icons in the middle of the skill trees that have other skills connected to them. You must first buy the connected skills. Then on the Valor Surge you can press to equip it and hold to upgrade it. You must upgrade it to level 3 to unlock the trophy. This costs skill points, which you get automatically from leveling up.
Here’s an example of a fully upgraded Valor Surge from the Trapper skill tree (costs 13 skill points to buy connected skills and fully upgrade Valor Surge): |
||
Upgraded 3 Weapons Fully upgraded 3 weapons. |
||
This is best done by upgrading 3 green rarity (uncommon) weapons. They only have 3 upgrades each and require common materials. You can upgrade your gear at any workbench, for example in Chainscrape, the town in the north-east of the map. The merchant (Hunter) in Chainscrape also sell low-grade green weapons that are easy to upgrade. Most large settlements have a Workbench. If you are missing some crafting materials, click :triangle “Create Job” in the upgrade menu at the Workbench, this creates a quest marker on the map leading you to the materials you need. The easiest option is to simply collect everything you find and do this later after the story, by that point you should have enough materials. You can scroll over each upgrade slot beforehand to see if you have all the needed materials.
For a list of all weapons and their locations: |
||
Upgraded 3 Outfits Fully upgraded 3 different outfits. |

You can upgrade Pouches at any Workbench. You find a Workbench at every big settlement and every shelter location. If you are missing the upgrade materials, simply press “Create Job” while in the upgrade menu at the workbench. This will create a quest marker on the map leading you to whatever materials you need.
|
||
Enhanced Weapon with Coils Equipped a weapon of any tier with 2 coils. |
||
For this you need a Rare (blue) weapon or better. Uncommon (green) weapons only have 1 Coil Slot. Rare (Blue) and Very Rare (Purple) weapons start out with 1 Coil Slot but can be upgraded to 2 Slots at the Workbench. Legendary (Yellow) weapons start out with 3 slots and can be upgraded to 5 slots.
You can see how many coil slots a weapon has by going to Inventory > scroll over a weapon > check “Coils” in bottom right. If it shows a “lock icon” on a coil slot, it means you must go to a Workbench and upgrade the weapon first. Workbenches are found at almost every big town and get marked on the map when nearby. For example, in Chainscrape which is the first big town you visit. Alternatively, just wait until you have a Legendary rarity weapon. Coils are frequently obtained throughout the game but can also be bought from any Hunter Merchant, there’s one at almost every big town. They are like “weapon runes” that give your weapon a bonus effect, such as higher critical hit chance. Once you have a weapon with enough coil slots, go to Inventory > click on the weapon to edit Coils. Insert any two coils into it. It doesn’t matter what rarity level the coils have (can be the lowest green rarity). As soon as you have 2 coils slotted to the same weapon it will unlock the trophy. |
||
Unlocked 3 Weapon Techniques Unlocked a Weapon Technique for 3 different weapon classes. |
||
Weapon Techniques are found in the skill tree, the medium-sized icons on the side of each skill tree that say “Weapon Technique” when scrolling over them. These are the active skills that unlock new weapon combos. Each skill tree has techniques for different weapons. The Melee Skills from Warrior Skill Tree don’t count as they are Melee Skills and not Weapon Skills.
The important thing is you must unlock at least one technique for 3 DIFFERENT weapons, not 3 techniques for the same weapon! For example, 1 skill for the Ropecaster, 1 for Hunter Bow, 1 for Bolt Blaster. You get plenty of skill points from every quest, from level ups, and from completing locations marked on the map.
|
||
Skill Tree Learned Learned all available skills on one tree. |
||
For an overview of all skills, see: Horizon Forbidden West All Skills List.
For this trophy you must buy all skills and upgrades in 1 of the 6 available skill trees. These are the 6 available skills trees:
The cheapest one is “Trapper” because it has the fewest skills. Buying all skills and upgrades for Trapper costs 40 Skill Points total. If you save your skill points you should be able to do this by the time you reach Level 20. |
||
Recovered 5 Different Collectables Completed 1 Survey Drone, 1 Black Box, 1 Relic Ruin, 1 Vista Point, and 1 Signal Tower. |
||
For this you must get 1 of every type of collectible:
Used Dye Flowers Used dye flowers to unlock and apply a new dye. |
||
Dyers are special merchants, there are only 3 of them in the game. These allow you to change the color of your clothes. This requires what the trophy description calls “flowers”, but they are called “blooms” in-game. You find these everywhere along mountain walls, must climb up to reach the blooms. Go to any mountainside and climb the walls to look for these. Each dye requires different blooms, just go to some mountainsides and collect whatever blooms you come across.
Here’s a mountain wall where you can find plenty, and what the flowers look like: Dyer #1: Plainsong Dyer #2: Scalding Spear Dyer #3: Thornmarsh |

Proud to present you with another complete Day-1 Trophy Guide & Wiki 🙂
Guide is all done.
Great game and nice for trophy hunting, enjoy it!
If you want to go beyond platinum and do more completion, also check out the Horizon Forbidden West Wiki & Strategy Guide, it contains all Collectibles and Side Quests etc.
falsaai says
Impressive work. I’m here to thank you, as always, for making our gaming experience enjoyable. Thank you so much.
Arturio Splunger says
Superb guide thanks so much! Loving the game, playing for enjoyment first and trophies second, will take it slow and enjoy this masterwork. Hope there will be 2 DLC and not just 1 as in HZZD
LL says
It’s really inpressive to have this guide done so early, thanks a lot for the great work!
Nikhil says
Someone please help me, I got tinkers pride and full stripes at all hunting grounds but the obtained a quarter stripe at all hunting grounds trophy won’t pop. In ps5 system trophy menu it says 11/12
Mr_PaNtsONh3aD says
Do I need some special flowers or dye pattern for the Dye trophy? I have tons of blooms and some dye patterns, went to the dye NPC in Plainsong , dyed my armor but no trophy
PowerPyx says
It shows in the Dye Merchant’s menu which blooms you need for the Dye. Just gotta pick one that uses blooms, not the dye that costs only Shards.
Ashley Shenton says
So I think I saw somewhere that you can if you do everything unlock most skill trees? Is this true? All in all looks very easy, the only big trophy’s are the scanning all machines and killing them all to, but with your guide, shouldn’t be to much of a hassle!
Cunfuzzled says
In one of the Tutorials found in the game it says, “Skill Points can be earned in many ways, including: leveling up, completing Quests and Activities, and completing all content in certain Activities.
You can acquire enough Skill Points to fully learn all Skill Trees.”
maxxdank says
Thanks PowerPyx 🙂
Sorry, I am just new to the save transfer thing guys.
Can I play ps4 version of the game on ps5 console and then just import the save file in ps5 version for all the trophies or I have to play on a ps4 console and then import the save on ps5 console.
If anybody could answer how this works, it would be a great help, Thanks again.
PowerPyx says
You can play the PS4 version on PS5 console. In this case the PS5 version will automatically recognize your PS4 save.
James says
Kinda sad though. Play the PS5 version and enjoy the game in its best form.
Smash41 says
Amazing work! Well done for getting this up before the game even releases.
Can’t wait for tomorrow.
Archie says
Your the man Powerpyx thanks for all the work you do ??
xXDer_KritikerXx says
Nice work mate.Thanks for all your work spending on this guides.
But i will never understand why the savegame policy only work in one direction.I don’t want to play a PS4 version on my PS5 because i want to play the best possible option for my PS5.But when you play the PS5 version wich kne i prefer more, i have to play it twice.So stupid.
DK says
It is actually a simple answer to that: the savegame transfer was not created with autopopping trophies in mind. It is a feature for people who start a game on the older system and want to carry on with the games once they are able to get their hands on ps5 later on.
The trophy community exploiting it for free platinums is basically just a side effect.
Cevdet says
Wish there was a new version of shield-weaver armor.
BigbyWolf says
If the last machine you scan is Specter Prime it should unlock the trophy for scanning all machines. If it is possible.
Sellers says
Yep, that’s how it unlocked for me, soon as i scanned the last boss the trophy poppped.
Balis_2807 says
On time as always Powerpyx! Thank you!!!
Next stop… Elden Ring!
Wolflion says
YES! February is such a god month This year
Gildart says
Another great guide!
Thank you PowerPyx
Haavve says
Great work! Looking forward to picking this game up tomorrow after work! My biggest choice is if im going to play the ps4 version so i get two plats, or if I’m going to play it on the ps5.
Envy7500 says
Probably to late for me to answer, but you get a free ps5 upgrade with the ps4 version + its cheaper, so def woth buying the ps4 version
Mr_PaNtsONh3aD says
There are glitched trophies and game breaking bugs.
I have upgraded all pouches to atleast 2 but no trophy.
On mission “The Sea of Sands” when i follow the track and come to first encounter it should update to “Gather the Machine Parts – Follow the Tracks – Kill the Machine Herd (Optional)” The encounter with one bird and 3 burrows.
It doesnt update and after killing all machines it still says “Gather the Machine Parts – Follow the Tracks” and the track stops at that point, cant go to end destination either as no spawn.
FranciRoosters says
Make sure you also have the Food Pouch, which is unlocked by completing the Cook’s errand in Chainscrape. Once you have, eat a meal at the Cook and the Food Pouch should become available at the Workbench.
As for the mission, you may have to keep following the tracks if the machines you need have run away, which sometimes they can. From the first point with the ruins, there should be another cluster of machines nearby, one of which should be the one you need for the parts. Just make sure you keep following the tracks from the first ruin area with the machines.
kexXMC says
I had a progression bug as well. For me it worked to quit the game and reload.
Trophy__Dad says
Thank you as always PowerPyx for an amazing guide! I was wondering if you wouldn’t mind posting an estimated time for someone who isn’t focused on trophy-related tasks their first playthrough and who isn’t playing on Story mode. I feel like that would provide a more accurate depiction of what most people would be doing.
PowerPyx says
I explain it in the Intro section.
I’d say an extra 10-20h longer (so about 40-50h) if playing on Normal and/or doing any side quests when you come across them.
Lucas Arantes says
how does it look to play the ps4 version on ps5? the game looks ugly comparing with the ps5 version? i really wanted to play the best version, but 2 platinums trophy is really annoying my mind with doubt…
FranciRoosters says
I played both versions on a 65” OLED TV and for the first time I could notice a staggering difference between the two. On Fidelity Mode, the PS5 could easily output a 4K resolution with no frame drops, but it didn’t perform the same on a PS4 Pro. On my PS4 Pro, it looked more like an upscaled 2K if anything with occasional frame drops. For an aesthetically more rewarding experience, it’s encouraged to play the game on PS5 when possible.
Anonymous says
Thank you for the trophy guide. As expected, Horizon Forbidden West has an easy and convenient Platinum trophy which is reassuring after seeing the Dying Light 2 trophy guide (which is easy enough but seems to have multiple annoying/glitched trophies).
However, it is strange that the one missable trophy relates to the final mission, because in Horizon Zero Dawn, after completing the main story, you would get placed before the final mission which allowed you to replay it. I don’t know where this game places you after completing the main story but if it’s before the final mission, then maybe they can allow you to at least replay the final mission in a patch?
Also, since this is the final PlayStation Studios game that offers a free PS5 upgrade (according to Sony), I recommend anyone planning to buy Horizon Forbidden West to choose the PS4 physical edition which is the cheapest and offers a free PS5 upgrade.
Corbin says
I wish it auto popped the trophies from ps5 to ps4 as well…
Brett says
You and me both man. It’s really frustrating that somehow you get rewarded for playing the previous gens version of all these games, as opposed to playing the one they presumably would want you to. I don’t understand how it’s even a thing. They’re like “here… play the crappy version and we’ll give you double the trophies!”
Little-Psychoes says
Did anyone test the ps4 version on ps5 console for the free plat?
Does it run better than on ps4 in any way?
FranciRoosters says
Save transfer and trophy auto-pop is supported. The PS5 version looks drastically better than the PS4’s.
Brett says
Yeah… did it today and there’s no comparison. Granted, some of that depends on the display. But on my 65″ 4k hdr tv the ps4 version looks like a different game.
If I didn’t have the tv to really see the difference, I’d probably play it on ps4 and take the double trophies, but with the one I have it’d drive me crazy knowing I was missing out on experiencing the game at its full potential.
Kyle says
Christ you are just the best with these trophy guides. Two questions:
1: I haven’t read this entire guide thoroughly, but is there a new game plus like the first game? If so, what does/doesn’t carry over with leaving?
2: You mentioned that you can max out every skill tree, and from just starting, I see some skills have levels associated with them. Do the multi level skills require multiple points, and if so, when you say max out, do you mean every single skill to it’s highest point, or just purchase every skill initially?
zulqarmessi says
Badass guide, badass Aloy and badass powerpyx, a winning combination ???

Did YouTube remove your videos? I was Looking for them and the Playlists. 🙁
Impressive work and great guide as always!
Thanks PowerPyx
PowerPyx says
Yes some third party claimed them, but it’s being resolved. Videos will be back on Monday.
Brett says
It’s nice to see a developer take pity on us trophy hunters considering everybody decided to pile like 3 holiday seasons worth of games on us in February and March.
Othman says
thank for the guide but we’re is your videos.
PowerPyx says
They got taken down by some third party. I’m getting this resolved, vids should be back online on Monday.
PhantomFear94 says
Are you supposed to unlock the First Core Overridden trophy after doing the story-related Cauldron during the Main Quest “The Dying Lands” (6th Main Quest)?? If so, this just bugged on me. Guessing it may be for doing a non-story related one, though.
PowerPyx says
That’s normal, it doesn’t unlock from the automatic story-related ones. Has to be an open world Cauldron you find yourself. I added a note.
PhantomFear94 says
Thank you, and can confirm. Apologies for the stupid question!
King-zeus-85 says
I gotta say im kinda disappointed in trophy list its too easy to platinum i wish it told us to reach 100% compilition in the game
Like there is no collectible trophys or finishing all side quests or buying all upgreads its just too easy

U for the Skill Tree Learned trophy can I just use the warrior skills to get the trophy and Will that work because you mentioned on the trophy guide that there is one trophy or a few trophies tied to the warrior skill or are the other trophies tied to the other skills or just one trophy tied to the skills tree and can I just buy the warrior one instead of buying the others

Getting alot of trophy bugs like Hunting trials and melee pit not getting completed. It shows like i never done it. Help?

Gianluca says
Thanks for your great work. I have a problem with Enhanced weapon with coils. I put 2 coils on a bow but the trophy didn’t appear. Any idea?
PowerPyx says
Were 2 coils equipped simultaneously? Must have 2 at same time.
Just retry with another weapon. Personally, I did this with the legendary Hunter Bow that’s obtained from the arena (traded with arena vendor for arena medals), it already had enough coil slots without upgrading.
Gianluca says
I put coils on the bow buy from trader. It’s a green bow without special characteristics and then I remove and try with another bow but trophy don’t appear. I saw that only 2,9 % of users take this trophy. Maybe there is a bug or maybe must put coils on the special weapon?
Gianluca says
Ok. Resolved with a blue bow. Thanks for the help
jerry says
The trophy related npc is gone after clear the game.. i was not able to continue the What Was Lost side quest cause he just not there,the quest mark was up but no npc there. Is there anyways to fix this?
James says
I think the upgrade pouches, holster, etc is glitched for me….everything is lvl 2 and no trophy. Have you seen anything about this possibly?
Dix3n says
You can’t see all pouches at first, you need to have bought some food to see the food pouch upgrade for example. I think maybe you’re missing a pouch, just do a quick google search to check what pouches you have and what pouches you’re missing.
Ash says
Can anyone tell me who the final character in the notebook is?? Under Amadis. It’s really bugging me. Thank you
FranciRoosters says
If you’ve done everything the game has to offer, it’s probably a bug. It wouldn’t be the first time. Before launch, many game categories were there for no reason at all or displayed wrong numbers.
Ray says
Got Plat at around 50hrs mark and I was doing a bit of sides. I think 30hrs is only doable if say you farm thunderjaw or alike endless to get exp quickly but that’s so boring. This game is worth your time to savour everything suitable at any pace.
great game! glad I finished a few days before Elden Ring. Need some rest.
Will Bergeron says
Is anyone having the level 50 trophy not unlocking? I’m attempting to find a work around.
4ipuxa says
Got the double plat today, but on Auto pop the trophy Obtained All Weapon Classes didnt unlock even though i did it on my save, had to buy a couple of weapons and it popped, weird stuff.
The game in itself is great, GOTY level, you can feel the hard work and hours theyve put in it, a good example what games should be nowadays.
p.s. Thanks for the guide btw

I killed all 4 types of recon machines but the trophy is still at 83% why??
Lucibur says
I’m trying to do one of the side missions after the story and I picked it up and started it before I beat the story, so Zo is meant to be in the base but she’s in Plainsong and it’s not letting me progress on it whatsoever. Any tips on what to do? Because all I can think is I have to do a new game just for this measly bronze trophy.. Something I want to have to avoid..
mr castle says
WARNING, GLITCHED TROPHY as of patch 1.06:
Defeated Asera
Investigated all Rebel Camps and helped Erend defeat Asera.
If you die during the fight with the Leader in Rebel Camp “Devils Grasp”, the game will glitch out. You will respawn and the camp will be empty, the leader won’t spawn again so you can’t progress. This is now locking me out of the platinum, and many others on reddit too. I have submitted it to Guerrilla, hopefully they will fix it soon.
DandyPrime says
Got screwed out of the plat on PS5 because of a bugged trophy. The trophy is to get all the Tallnecks. I got them all, trophy never popped. I just beat the game and only just realized this. So now I’m screwed. I’m not playing the game again just to get this plat. Oh well…
Andre says
One of the tallnecks is hidden inside a cauldron, sure you did that one?
Ryan says
Not sure if anybody has mentioned this but you can scan spector (normal not prime) in at least 3 missions that are not Singularity and i believe u can kill them in 2/3 of these too.The missions are main mission Deaths Door and Cradle of echoes and side mission What was lost.To be safe probably should killone scan 1 in each mission you find them because at least for me 1 machine that i killed in story didnt register under stats even though i killed him/scanned too because he was a story obj.The machine that didnt register was corrupter which you kill during faros tomb as a story obj. however he didnt unlock as killed until i killed him in post game at the arena.The arena mission you fight them in is Legendary level “ancient corruption ” thats when my plat popped after beating that arena lv post game.If u do ghe same make sure you save after beating the arena mission if u plan to autopop dont just close game.
Komori says
I got all the skills and the trophy isnt coming up?
Andre says
You need 100% upgrade on the valor skills as well, maybe its that.
d3mystic says
Just a little info about killing machines. Might be obvious but to register a machine kill, it is Aloy that needs to deal the final blow. If ‘Machine Kill Assist’ appears it won’t count as your kill. When I fought the two corruptors during the main quest both of them were downed by AIs, so I needed to kill them in the Arena. The sure shot way to know for sure is as the guide mentions, to check it in the Notebook.
Jimmy says
HEADS UP…..I just got (all cores overridden) trophy after only completing four cauldrons!!!!!
I am not complaining!
Law says
You need 6, two of them are from main story. Thats why you probably think you just did 4?
Underground Soldier says
I want to say ty to the powerful lovely powerpyx team for making us always an fast easy and complete guides of all games,keep it up,again thx.
Sprucemoose says
Specter prime is apparently not needed for «All combat machines killed» trophy. I haven’t started the last mission yet, and it has popped for me.
PowerPyx says
You can skip two combat machines, only 13/15 needed for that trophy.
d3mystic says
@Powerpyx I think the trophy will pop if you kill all machines except Specter and S. Prime, not any 13/15. I had killed 13 machines including Specter, but it didn’t pop until I killed the Corruptor. Which maybe makes sense as S and S.Prime are not machines. Well, not ‘Earth’ machines made by HEPH.
Chris Radford says
Jeez man the level 50 trophy is the only one i need for platinum. And i’m only on level 42 :/ I thought it came naturally??
PowerPyx says
Hey all,
the Patch 1.08 notes say that All Machine Types Scanned is no longer missable. Particularly, enemy(ies) from the final story mission are now either not needed or register automatically.
Can someone confirm this, and how/when exactly the Specter and Specter Prime now register?
I added a note to the Overview for now that it may no longer be missable.
Kierewiet says
I am on patch 1.08. I just scanned my last machine, except the Specter Prime. That’s the only one I am missing now but no trophy popped yet.
PowerPyx says
I would assume it now gets added to the machine catalogue automatically after the story if you intentionally missed it?
Kierewiet says
I think you are right. I see multiple comments on Reddit of people who missed the trophy but it popped up as soon as they played the game with patch 1.08.
PowerPyx says
Even better, sounds like they fixed it retroactively.
Pres says
I completed Runda’s contracts, then saw the trophy pop up. Went to the list of trophies and it wasn’t there. I went into my notifications and I could still see the trophy there but then it disappeared. I loaded a save right before I went to complete Runda’s last contract, completed it – nothing. I then went back and did the Larend guests but that didn’t unlock the trophy again… is there a way I can fix this?
Law says
I platinumed this for both versions already but just came here for those wondering, latest patch notes explains they fixed something with the last mission where there is a missable trophy.
—–
Fixed an issue where the ‘All Machine Types Scanned’ trophy could be easily missed during the final main quest ‘Singularity
——
Dont know what it means exactly, maybe its simply not needed anymore. But tbh its hard to miss the last boss personally I scanned every enemy just to know their weakness, not just for the trophy
Law says
Just saw Powepyx already noted this, nevermind ?
Nikki_boagreis says
Literally just finished the campaign and can confirm, you get Specter and Specter Prime machine scans automatically on 1.08.
Vibby says
On ps5 how can shareplay and help me with last meele pits? I have done some.
Nikki_boagreis says
Just gott the platinum, didn’t experience any bugs. However my PlayStation did overheat. I’ve read online where others experienced the same thing when playing Forbidden West. Just be warned.
mamafatfaze says
Just wanted to give a quick tip regarding the “Obtained 3 Stripes at All Hunting Grounds” trophy. You can complete some of these trials super quickly using some skills you unlock. For example, in the :Shredder Catch Trial” in the Sheerside Mountains Hunting Grounds, you can unlock the skill “Power Shredder” and it automatically makes progress towards completing the trial.
mamafatfaze says
To clarify, I’d recommend to unlock the skill “Power Shredder” before starting the “Shredder Catch Trial” as the discs are already charged once you use the skill and do not require for you to catch the disc 3 times to fully charge the disc up.
Sander says
I have saved the daunt trophy glitched it did not pop , any clues on how to fix this ?
Sander says
Edit , do another side quest to pop
James says
Love the trophy guide and the game! Does anyone have an idea on the clamberjaw machines location? I’ve scanned the fire version but not unlocking in machine catalog.
Paraszt says
Also you can disable pick up animation in the settings. It’ll save you a bunch of time.
You can pick up any item that is a tap (not hold) whilst sprinting. Really handy.
Dissposablehero says
I finished all the trophies at level 47. In case anyone is stuck for a reasonably fast farm:
The last Hunter Challenge (Heavy Weapons at the lodge closest to San Francisco), spawns one of the elephants.
Do the trial, kill it with the heavy weapon you knock off its back and the three Clawstriders you’ll get about 6.2K XP in approx 1 min 30. Rinse and repeat.
Probably not the absolute fastest farm but you don’t need to worry about making special ammo etc.

Just wondering if a guide will be added for Burning Shores. I checked the upcoming guides section but didn’t see it listed. Hoping one is planned anyway. Thanks!
