Hogwarts Legacy Story Length:

Depending on your chosen difficulty the Hogwarts Legacy main story will take 15-25 hours to complete.

• Story Difficulty / Easy Difficulty = 15-20 Hours
• Normal Difficulty = 20-25 Hours
• Hard Difficulty = 25 Hours

My save showed 18 hours total at the final story quest, however a few hours of that were inactive time and it’s closer to 15 hours real playtime.

This was a playthrough on story difficulty and included all cutscenes and dialogues and also doing more side exploration than required for story purposes. About one third of that time was cutscenes and dialogues and two thirds was gameplay. In that time I also unfogged the whole map and did some other side activities. On low difficulties you can expect the story to take around 15-20 hours. On higher difficulties it takes a bit longer around 20-25 hours.

This also includes the time spent to reach the level requirements to be able to start the next main quests. You must usually gain 1-2 level-ups between quests later in the story. You can do that by doing other side activities such as the 57 side quests, gathering collectibles, or grinding the Battle Arenas repeatedly.

If you were to skip all cutscenes and dialogues you could finish the story in about 10 hours, i.e. on a second playthrough with a different house.

100% Completion / Platinum Trophy Length:

• Story Difficulty / Easy Difficulty for 100% Completion = 60 Hours
• Normal Difficulty for 100% Completion = 60-70 Hours
• Hard Difficulty for 100% Completion = 70-80 Hours

About 20 hours of that is spent on story and about 30-40 hours on doing all side quests, collectibles, and other activities. You need close to 100% game completion for the platinum. Just a few item types aren’t mandatory and you don’t need to complete all challenges. But you do need all quests and must find all collectibles of several types. You also need 3 extra partial playthroughs for platinum, in order to reach the Map Chamber with each house. This happens early in the story, you can rush there within 90-120 minutes if you skip everything, but you can’t manual save before picking your house so must restart a new game from the beginning each time. This adds another 5-6 hours on top of the completion requirements.
