Into the Frozen Wilds is the first Side Quest in Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds DLC. This walkthrough shows how to complete the quest.
Recommended Level: 30
Location: south of the Cut, close to the Grave-Hoard
Quest-Giver: Yariki
Reward: none
Objectives:
- Explore the Cut
- Investigate the Source of the Smoke
This first side quest will be marked with on your map close to the Grave-Hoard in the North-East of the main game’s territory. Aloy will find a woman named Yariki at a campfire. The belongs to the Banku tribe and is heading south to Meridian and away from the Cut – just the opposite direction we are coming from.
After the conversation with Yariki our objective is to explore the Cut. To do so, we have to pass a small climbing section and will be greeted by our first new enemy machine – the Demonic Scorcher. A little further along the way we are being spotted by an outlook from the Banuk settlement Song’s Edge.
After passing through the mountain ridge and exchanging a few words with some locals, we will stand on a high cliff and see a lot of smoke coming from a mountain close by – something that Yariki briefly mentioned in our earlier conversation. Our next objective is to investigate this occurrence further.
A little further along the way, Aloy will stumble across a special funeral ceremony and a speech from the villages’ leader Aratak. After this, we have the opportunity to speak to Burgrend, an outlander just like yourself and a trader in this settlement. He will introduce us to some of the special habits of the Banuk’s and their settlements.
Finishing the conversation will conclude this quest and also start a new one, called The Shaman’s Path, in which we have to investigate the disappearance of the settlements’ Shaman Ourea.
