Lost Judgment has 42 Side Cases required for the On the Case, Private Eye, Elementary, My Dear, and A Man Among Amons trophies and achievements. This guide shows the locations of all side cases and how to complete them all.
Side Cases are spread between Ijincho and Kamurocho and are started through different means. 6 are obtained from the Job Request board at Yokohama 99, 1 is obtained from the Job Request board at Yagami Detective Agency, and the remainder are started by finding them in the game world. More Side Cases become available as you progress the story, and none are missable. All Side Cases can be completed post main story.
Side Cases are listed in the order that they appear in the Case File > Side Cases section of the menu so that you can easily check which you are still missing from that menu.

When around the front, inspect the sign hanging on the door, then turn it around and look at the lower right corner to find an SOS message.
You will automatically be around the back of Cafe Alps, and need to pick the lock to get inside. Turns out it’s an actual robbery, and you now need a disguise to sneak in. Inspect the boxes on the ground and choose to sneak in using one of them.
Gradually push the stick to sneak towards the mugger when he’s not looking at the box, then when you reach him Yagami will automatically grab him.
He’ll get away, then you’ll chase him around Kamurocho until you catch him and complete the side case.
4. Trying the Patience of a Saint – Seiryo High School 3F Hallway
Reward: 3500 SP, 50,000 Yen
During the afternoon or evening, go to the 3F Hallway in Seiryo High School to see some delinquents kick a ball at a teacher’s head. After the dialogue scenes, Amasawa asks you to meet here in the MRC room to tell you about the teacher, who apparently has a history of explosive temper. You are tasked with following him around for a bit and making sure nothing sets him off. To meet up with him, head up to the Faculty Room on 2F.
After speaking with him, you’ll go with him to class. You need to check if the students have set up any “traps” for him when he’s entering the room, so first inspect the brush that’s sitting inside the door of the classroom.
Turns out the kids set up a banana peel too, which you aren’t able to check for. After some more dialogue, you’ll be in the classroom checking for more traps before Ebisu sits down. This time there are two: one on the chair, and one under the suspicious-looking piece of floor the chair is sitting on. After you find one item Ebisu will ask if you’ve found them all, where you should reply “Not yet” so you can grab the second item.
After more dialogue, Ebisu will run off to the restroom, where you need to follow and check for more traps for him. The first trap is obvious, another chalk eraser in the bathroom door, but there is actually a second trap. You should also inspect the bathroom sign itself, where the delinquents have pasted paper over the sign to make it look like the bathrooms are the opposite ones. After finding that you can speak to Ebisu to let him know he’s safe.
Finally, Ebisu wants to check his flowers before heading out for the day, but turns out the delinquents have decided to give them a little “extra water”. Teach them a lesson, then Ebisu will come out and fly into a rage. You’ll need to put him down to make him calm down again, so get ready for a fight. If you do this Side Case early in the game he might be a bit of a challenge, as he hits hard and can do unblockable grabs on you. Make sure to keep your health up and parry his charge attacks and you should be alright though. After calming him down you complete this Side Case.
5. Where is the Time Capsule? – Inside Seiryo High School Courtyard, listen to three men speaking
Reward: 50,000 Yen, 3500 SP
The three guys in the courtyard are graduates of Seiryo High, who are back to find a time capsule they buried when graduating. The only issue is they were drunk when they buried it and don’t remember the exact location, only a cryptic clue they came up with. You’re helping them find it now, so to start go to the northwest corner of the courtyard and check out that Ferris wheel in the distance. You then want to inspect the tree along the wall closest to the Ferris wheel.
Yagami will find a time capsule that you should bring it back to the guys, but it turns out this isn’t the one they buried. When prompted respond with “Someone else mistakenly took it” for a reason why their time capsule isn’t there anymore. Turns out it’s from a girl they guys all liked in high school, and they want to find her to give the capsule back and get theirs from her. One of the guys draws a sketch of her for you, then you need to head to Chinatown to help them find her.
When you reach the area you should examine the lady in the white coat standing in front of the nearby restaurant, then after some more scenes you will finish this side case.
6. Where the Kappa Roam – N Sakura River St., west of Poppo
Reward: Free Pass Voucher 4, 50,000 Yen, 3500 SP
Down by the river you will spot a drunk man holding a Kappa statue arguing with a man in a suit. Step in and you’ll need to knock the man out to get the Kappa statue back.
The man in the suit reveals to you that he works for the city and the Kappa were part of a community project to bring in tourists. The Statues are actually made of styrofoam though, and people have stolen them all. Agree to help him, then he’ll tell you there are 7 more statues somewhere in Ijincho for you to find. You can check the keyword “kappa” on Buzz Researcher for some hints to locations, or check the linked guide below.
See Lost Judgment – Kappa Locations Guide
7. The SRC’s Hunt for the Truth – In front of Seiryo High School, listen to two students
Reward: 50,000 Yen, 3500 SP
The two students in front of the school are talking about alien abductions and UFO sightings, which you are going to check out. You receive the keyword “UFO” for Buzz Researcher, which you should check out for a location to go to.
You’ll need to head over to the empty lot behind Survive in the Bar District at night. Go into Observation Mode and look up in the sky and you should see a blue light flying around that you need to examine when it stops above you.
Amasawa and some other school students come by and talk to you, and Amasawa wants you to help out finding out what the deal is with the UFOs. Check Buzz Researcher again and the UFO posts will be in a new spot, over by Hello Work. Head over there to find the two SRC students in a nearby parking lot.
Speak to them, then you’ll need to go meet one of the two students upstairs in Wette Kitchen. He tells you a story of thinking his dad was abducted by aliens and wants your help investigating the sightings further. Check Buzz Researcher again to find another UFO sighting over near Fukutoku Park, then head over there.
Once you get to the area you should hear it fly overhead, then you need to inspect it. You will then be prompted with a photo mission where you need to capture a picture of it when it’s sitting still. This is easiest done if you wait for it to stop near the building to the north side of the park, where it will regularly stop allowing you to get a good shot.
The girl from the SRC comes to meet you and explains her take on the boys’ abduction story, and asks for your help proving the UFOs are actually fake. Check Buzz Researcher again to find that the UFO sightings have now happened at Seiryo High, then head over there and go inside and into the courtyard to speak to the group of four guys hanging around.
Amasawa and the SRC students will appear too, then everyone will move up to the rooftop to look for the UFO. You’ll hear it flying around, then need to inspect it, then snap another picture.
After getting the picture you will be in a chase after the UFO around Ijincho. Successfully grab it to finish this Side Case.
8. The Invisible Burglar – Champion District, Hangout Spot
Reward: Extract Recipe: Provocateur, 180,000 Yen, 5000 SP
To start this Side Case you first want to go over to the hangout spot near Champion District and listen to the conversation there to gain the “Stalker” keyword for Buzz Researcher, which will then lead you to the south end of Senryo Ave. Head over there and inspect the man standing on the corner of the building above the street.
He comes down and he explains he’s trying to look for a burglar in the building across the street that he owns. Speak to him again and he’ll explain the situation, then once more at the entrance of the building to head up and investigate.
Inside he’ll introduce you to the tenant, then you need to search around the room for clues as to what might be happening. First, check the floor and inspect the empty snack items, the bug bombs, and the fridge.
Next, inspect the hatch on the ceiling with the mystery handprint on it, then pull out your Noise Amp and listen to the same spot.
Finally, inspect the safe in the corner, then the sword on the cabinet.
After finding all the clues you will have to figure out the truth to the situation. When picking who the invisible thief is, respond with “They’re still up in the attic”, then when selecting an item to use to lure the thief out select “Roach Exterminator”. After some more scenes, you will now finish up this side case.
9. The Body Model Walks at Night!!! – Found from keyword “Body Model” on Buzz Researcher, then 1F Hallway of Seriyo High School
Reward: 100,000 Yen, 5000 SP
While walking around near Seiryo High you will gain the keyword “Body Model”, which you can then look at and investigate. Once you have you can go inside the school at night, then check out 1F Hallway where you will have a spot marked. Go to it, then Yagami will follow go up to the second floor automatically to investigate. Pull out your Noise Amp, then follow it down the hallway to the second noise source.
You will then be chasing the Body Model around the school. Avoid the various items it throws at you until you are able to catch up to it.
Turns out it was just a student trying out an elaborate scheme to cheat on a test. After a talk with them, they’ll head home. You then need to return to the school during the day and go to the cafeteria to speak to the student again to complete the Side Case.
10. Dueling Dojos (The Saga Continues: Ryan’s Rival Appears!) – Yagami Detective Agency Bulletin Board
Reward: Training Band, 100,000 Yen, 5000 SP
The only request that you get from the board at Yagami Detective Agency, a familiar face from the first game has a request for you. After accepting it from the board, meet the client over at M Side Cafe.
When you get inside you’ll need to look for the client, who happens to be climbing on the wall above the stairs.
Turns out the client is Ryan, the strange ninja who was a friend in the first game. He’s set up a dojo in Kamurocho, but a rival dojo has stolen all of his students. He needs your help infiltrating the dojo and finding out what is pulling them all away. He gives you the location for the dojo down on Seryo Ave, and gives you a disguise to wear allowing you to get inside.
After getting inside, you will need to get through a series of trials before you are accepted into the dojo proper. First is a chase against Master Kalashnikov through Kamurocho, followed by a game of darts. For darts, you can pick the ruleset that you want, so it’s recommended you pick 301 or Count Up for easier/quicker games.
After darts Kalashnikov has one more trial for you, but it turns out that he’s found out you were sent in as a spy by Ryan. You will need to defeat Kalashnikov and the other students.
After defeating the group you will automatically report your findings to Ryan, who decides he needs to fight Kalashnikov in a duel to the death. You will automatically go witness the “duel”, then the Side Case will be complete.
11. The Forbidden Taste – Available from the bulletin board in Yokohama 99, then starts at Meng We Restaurant
Reward: Skill Book: Book of the Ravenous, 100,000 Yen, 5000 SP
After accepting the request, you will need to meet the client, Joe, over at Meng We Restaurant in the Chinatown area. He tells you a rumor about a phantom ramen stall that appears in the area, but is hard to find and has a number of rumors surrounding it. After his explanation, you will receive the “phantom ramen stall” keyword to use in Buzz Researcher. Check it out to find a set of three locations around Chinatown to investigate.
These three locations will be marked on your map, and you need to go to each of them to listen in on conversations other people are having about the ramen stall. At each of the three locations you need to stand near the people talking so that you see their entire conversation, then at the end Yagami will make a comment about what he just heard. After the third group, you will need to go back and meet Joe in Meng We to tell him what you heard.
After telling Joe your findings, he figures you need to get a cat to help lead you to the ramen stall. This now unlocks the ability to interact with cats around Ijincho and Kamerocho. There will be a new spot marked for the Side Case directly south of Meng We, but before you go there you need to make sure you have some cat food to help befriend the cats with. If you need some it can be bought at either Poppo (Jinnai Station Interior) or Tsurukmae Hwy.). Once you have some food, go to the marked spot and interact with the cat, then try to offer it food.
After failing to befriend the cat, another familiar face from the first game will appear, Nekomiya. He tells you that to befriend the cats you need to name them, then you are able to interact with the cats at the normal spots. There are now two in Ijincho you can go to, one directly beside where you are in Chinatown and one down by Onodera’s Wares at the homeless camp.
Now when you go to either spot and interact with the cats a random one will come up to you. If it’s a cat you haven’t interacted with before you will give it a name, which you are meant to remember when you interact with them the next time. If you want an easy time, just name all the cats with the same name in one of the slots (ie always pick the left name, the layout in the name selection dialogue never changes).
To quickly raise the level of the cats you can take a taxi back and forth between the two spots in Ijincho. To allow you to interact with the cats again you need to do something that causes the game to move where you are, so just taking the taxi back and forth is the fastest way. The next time you meet a cat you have already named and say its name correctly you can interact with it in other ways, such as petting it or giving it food. Giving food raises the meter the most, but you obviously need to buy or find more cat food to do that. Continue interacting with the cats until you raise the affection meter with that cat to maximum, which increases your Pawpularity level by 1. Increasing your popularity gives unique rewards that are required for other trophies or TownGo requirements, such as this first level where you get Skill Book: Book of the Brink.
After reaching at least the first Pawpularity level go over to the front of Yokohama 99 at night, where you will find a cat waiting for you. The cat will automatically take you to the Phantom Ramen Stall, completing this Side Case.

Reward: Paradise VR available to play, 20,000 Yen (plus whatever you win from the Dice & Cube run), 3500 SP
On Hamakita Park Ave you will be stopped by Tashiro-kun, another familiar face. He tells you that he has set up Dice & Cube in Ijincho, and asks you to try it out. This is the intro to Dice & Cube in this game, with this first game serving as a tutorial for the mechanics as well as the new aspects of it. You are basically railroaded for this initial game (you always role the same spots), so just follow along to the end and finish the game to complete this Side Case and unlock Dice & Cube for normal play.

To complete this Side Case you need to win against each of the rivals he has introduced when you select to face a strong rival when starting Dice & Cube games. You can face them on whichever course length you want, so if you want to get this over quicker you can just use the Short Standard course. There isn’t a way to view which you have already defeated in-game, so make sure to do them in order or keep track of which you beat.

Reward: Drone Racing becomes available, 20,000 Yen, 3000 SP
This Side Case is Lost Judgment’s intro to Drone Racing, which makes a return but this time in Ijincho. You aren’t introduced to it at all during the story, only through this Side Case. Reward: Skill Book: Showa Duel Records: Earth, 100,000 Yen, 5000 SP
After accepting the request, head up to 3F of the Lullaby Mahjong building. There you will meet Okazaki, who explains to you the situation with the Masked Writer (who is actually a group of writers working together). He explains to you that it seems like there have been leaks of their ideas and someone is using them to preemptively publish books, and needs your help figuring out who is doing it and how. After you finish talking to him, you will need to go around the office and talk to the other authors to get info about what they’re doing. You need to talk to the man at the computer, the group of three at the table, the lady on her phone in the corner, and the two by the vending machines.
After talking to everyone in the office you’ll need to go out the back door and up to the rooftop to meet the last author. He tells you he thinks someone from the inside is leaking info to try and break the group up.
After talking to him Okazaki will come to speak to you again and give you another bit of info about a strange odor, then you can head back inside. You’ll now need to check the office for the strange smell, so should call Ranpo to sniff around for you. He’ll lead you over by the table where there is an ashtray, and you learn about the window staying open. Ranpo will then also lead you over to the window to investigate more.
On the window ledge you want to look at the brown stain directly in the middle, as well as the pile of hair to the left of it.
Ranpo will then lead you out of the office and you will automatically go up to the rooftop. Follow him around the path on the rooftop to a spot with some power boxes to find a can of cat food.
You’ll now talk to Okazaki about what you’ve found. When given the choice between the four options, choose “Listening Device”. You’ll then present the different evidence items you found. First, pick “Can of Cat Food”, then “Animal Fur”, and finally “Sound of Firecrackers”. When you are given the final dialogue choice, pick “The suspect was someone on the outside”.
After the dialogue you will chase the perpetrator through Kamurocho, catching him and completing the Side Case.

Reward: Extract Recipe: Die Hard, 150,000 Yen, 5000 SP
After accepting the request from Yokohama 99, you need to meet the client on the second floor of Wette Kitchen. The man explains to you that the Director of the game studio he works for has disappeared, and he needs your help finding him again to get him to return to work and help them deal with the publisher. He tells you he was last spotted along Sakura River St. by the homeless camp, so you should head to the marked spot over there to look for him.
You’ll now have to look for the Director among the people at the homeless camp. Go to the south part and inspect the man with the beard.
Turns out he was a decoy, and the actual Director gets away. In the camp you should first examine the laptop beside the decoy, then call Ranpo so that he checks the laptop. He will then lead you to where Shinonome has gone.
After you find him the Okizaki will come to join you, along with the publisher they work for who isn’t too impressed with what is going on. He starts a fight with you, where you have to knock him out to calm him down, ending this Side Case.
20. A Particularly Hardcore Demo Event (On Site Demo Test) – Available from the bulletin board in Yokohama 99 after completing Flight of the Game Creator, then started in front of the Paradise VR Building

This minigame is called Aircelios. It’s a twin-stick shooter where you move around a small area destroying waves of enemies to score points. Defeating enemies quickly increases your chain, which increases the number of points you get per enemy defeated.
Regardless of how you do in the minigame when you finish Shinonome and Kinugawa start arguing and get a little heated. Kinugawa won’t settle down, so you go outside and have to beat him up to calm him down again. After you successfully do, you will complete this Side Case.

The first keyword search leads you to the area surround Yokohama 99, where there is talk of a woman generating device interference. Go to the area and look for a woman in a red shirt who is walking in a loop around the buildings. Inspect her with your Detector gadget to stop and talk to her.

The next “noise” search available will lead you over to Sasaki Arcade. Pull out your Detector inside and use it to inspect the blue penguin toy in the claw machine.
You will now need to play the claw machine and successfully extract the penguin from inside. The penguin doesn’t really have anywhere to grab hold of it on, so your best bet to get it out is to tip it over, then continually grab the side farthest from the drop point to roll it over.
Once you get it out you will confront the store manager who was trying to use the penguin to spy on a girl. You will fight him outside then the Side Case will be completed.
24. Dastardly Detective: Before the Torch Burns Out – Hello Work

You can then use the Detector to follow the source of the drone’s signal, which will lead you to the back alley east of Girl’s Bite.
When you confront the old man in the alley he runs away. Chase him down, then you will complete this Side Case.
25. Dastardly Detective: The Eavesdropping Wallet – Girl’s Bite taxi stop

A man comes out of the building and you deduce with him that someone was trying to use the bugged ramen bowl to listen in on their office. Yagami waits for someone to pick up the bowl, then you need to tail the main to find out where he is going.
After tailing the man over to the smoking area near Jinnai Station some unsavory characters will appear and attack you. Defeat them all to complete this Side Case.
29. Dastardly Detective: The Final Night Flight – Must first find “fleeing overnight” keyword, then started by Fukuutoku Park
Reward: 150,000 Yen, 10,000 SP
NOTE: This is the only one of the Dastardly Detective Side Cases that you need an extra keyword for to complete. You are required to have the “fleeing overnight” keyword, which I seemed to obtain randomly while running through Bar District at night.
For this Dastardly Detective you need to search using the keyword “fleeing overnight”. This will lead you to the alleyway near Fukutoku Park, where you find a family seemingly trying to flee the city. It seems their items are bugged though, and someone is following them around. Locate it on the side of the concrete dome, then use the Noise Amp to find the item in a can on top. After some more dialogue you will complete this Side Case, and will have found all 56 squirrels.
33. Curse of the Amasawa Family Heirloom – Amasawa texts you during Chapter 6 story, then meet here in MRC room during Evening
Reward: 50,000 Yen, 10,000 SP
Amasawa has another student with her named Shimada, who has a Lucky Cat statue at home that he believes is cursed. Amasawa also believes it might be the Lucky Cat owned by her grandfather that she believes was somehow connected to his death. After Shimada leaves you will need to go down to Plage with Amasawa to meet with Shimada and his dad to see the Lucky Cat statue.
After discussing more about the cat and the circumstances of Amasawa’s grandfather’s death, Shimada’s father agrees to leave the cat with you, then you need to travel to Ebisu Pawn to question the owner of the pawnshop who sold the cat to Shimada’s father. After questioning the pawnshop owner, a fire will suddenly break out in the store.
With the fire out and the crew safely outside, Amasawa says she smells gas. Check the ground directly in front of the doors to find gas on the ground, then walk further down the sidewalk to find a plastic bottle with gas in it.
Yagami and Amasawa hatch a plan to hang around in town waiting to see if the person who set the fire tries to strike again. You will play a game of darts, followed by a round at the batting cage, where this basically just serves as an introduction to those minigames if you’ve not played them yet.
After the round of batting Amasawa notices someone suspicious watching you from outside the building. Yagami goes around the back, then you need to put on a disguise to sneak up on them.
Once you reach them you will confront them, and they will attack you to try and get the cat back.
After they are defeated you will need to inspect the cat to find out the mystery behind it. First, inspect the neck area of the cat to spot a seam. Then, inspect the eyes to spot that they jiggle. You will then question the man about the events behind him wanting the cat, then the Side Case will be complete.
34. My First Errand – Available from the bulletin board in Yokohama 99, then started at Wette Kitchen

After you agree, Kaito shows up and wants to tag along.
You’ll automatically move to the end of N Isezaki Rod. and start tailing Toru.
Once you reach the midpoint of the road, Toru will almost spot Kaito and Yagami, and they hide behind a cutout sign, getting themselves stuck. You will now need to carefully follow behind Toru while stuck in the sign.
When Toru reaches his destination he gets stopped by some rabble-rousers who try and steal his food. Using the left stick pick the intensity of expression you want to pull to scare them off. After some more scenes (and the guys escaping from the signs) you will complete this Side Case.
35. Between Blood and Booze – Girls Bite, side case for Haruko
Reward: 50,000 Yen, 3500 SP
NOTE: This Side Case, Random Fandom, and Big Shame Hunter are required to be completed as part of the School Stories investigation of the Girls’ Bar. You need to progress quite far into the School Stories before the Girls’ Bar becomes available, then these three Side Cases happen while finishing that investigation: School Stories Guide.
This Side Case with Haruko starts when you reach the first lock in her meter when interacting with her at Girl’s Bite. The next time you come in Yagami will ask her about herself, and she’ll tell you about her father and how they generally don’t speak to each other anymore. After that conversation completes, the lock on her meter will disappear, and you can interact with her more to raise it. Once you reach the second lock, you will have another scene the next time you come in. The only issue is, it turns out the other customer who is in the bar is actually her father.
She wants you to play along to get her dad out of the bar without realizing it’s her, but you actually want to talk him into opening up more about how they feel. When you have the dialogue options, respond with “So, you were on a business trip today?”, “Her’s throat’s in kinda rough shape. Bad cold, you know?”, then finally “You must be really proud of your daughter.” After the rest of the dialogue, this Side Case will be complete.
36. Random Fandom – Girls Bite, side case for Ayaha
Reward: 50,000 Yen, 3500 SP
This Side Case with Ayaha starts when you reach the first lock in her meter when interacting with her at Girl’s Bite. The next time you come into the bar there will be some businessmen in drinking, and they get a little heated with each other over one of them being a fan of a children’s show called Captain Cop. Ayaha defuses the situation, then you can continue raising her meter. When you reach the second lock, the next time you come in the bar Haruko will say that she is hanging out around Jinnai station, and Yagami decides to go find her there.
At the station call out to her, which scares her and causes her to drop something, which gets swiped by a small child. Chase down the child who can inexplicably move faster than Yagami to get the item back.
When you get the item back for Ayaha, she admits she’s actually a huge Captain Cop fan. When you return to Girl’s Bite the next time she’ll be talking with the businessmen again about Captain Cap, and rope Yagami into doing the pose, completing this Side Case.

The next time you come into the bar she will tell you about a stalker who has been leaking information about her private life, then another idol who she knows will come in and talk to her about work. After they leave you can continue raising her meter. The next time you come into the bar after reaching the second lock she will tell you that the stalker is leaking even more private info, and Yagami decides to try and help her find out if she’s been bugged. When you go outside, pull out your Detector and first inspect her bag, followed by her shoes to find where the actual bug has been hidden.
Yagami decides to set up a trap for the person who bugged the shoes by getting them to try and show up at the park. When they do Yagami spots them, but they run away. Chase them down to complete this Side Case.
38. Step by Step – Girls Bite, side case for Emily, begins after finishing School Story when the game prompts you about girlfriends
Reward: N/A
NOTE: These three Side Cases related to Emily only start after you complete the investigation into the Girls’ Bar for the School Stories.
The next time you come into Girl’s Bite after completing the School Story for it, Emily will be sitting off to the side by the dartboard. Talk to her, then you will be introduced to the dating aspect of the game, where you can increase your relationship with Emily (or other girls if you have the Detective Essentials DLC) and eventually be asked out by them.
When you raise her intimacy bar around halfway you will be given a dialogue where you swap info with her. Continue raising her bar to max to reach intimacy level 2. Once you do, you will have to leave the bar and go do something else while waiting for her to message you. A way to force these waiting parts to trigger is to take the taxi to Kamurocho and back, and she should message you when you are back in Ijincho. When she does text you respond with “Use food as an excuse to invite her out.” She’ll then agree to meet you in front of Jinnai Station.
Wait for her at the station, then the Side Case will “officially” start (even though it was shown in the cases menu before now). Walk with her down to Plage, where you will talk to her after food. You will have to examine parts about her, then respond in ways that she likes. The way you respond determines how well the date is going. If you give bad responses it doesn’t lock you out of the relationship or anything, you just get less progress on the Liveliness meter and therefore less bonus to her Intimacy meter when the date is over and need to interact with her more to raise it to the next level.
After the date at the cafe is finished you will walk her back to Girl’s Bite. Outside she will be bothered by a group of people who know her from school, then after the rest of the dialogue is over this Side Case will be complete.
39. Broken Barriers – East Jinnai Station, dating side case with Emily
Reward: N/A
This Side Case for Emily will start after you have raised her Intimacy meter to level 3 after completing the Side Case “Step by Step”. She will text you to hang out, and Yagami offers to meet up before the bar again. Wait for her back in the same spot as last time by Jinnai Station to start the Side Case.
This time you are taking Emily out for Chinese food. You will need to inspect her again and respond in an appropriate way s to raise the Liveliness meter. After you’re finished at the restaurant you will be walking her back to Girl’s Bite again. The group who know her from school show up again and almost get into a fight with Yagami, but Emily gives them the what for and they mellow out, completing this Side Case.
40. We Mend, We Grow – East Jinnai Station, dating side case with Emily
Reward: N/A
This Side Case for Emily will start after you have raised her Intimacy meter to level 4 after completing the Side Case “Broken Barriers”. You can force it to start by taking the taxi to and from Kamurocho or around Injincho, then she will eventually call you and ask you on a date. This time she will be there to meet you at the regular spot at Jinnai Station.
You will then get a special scene with Emily, and she will officially ask you out after. Regardless of how you respond, you will complete this Side Case.
41. Takayuki Yagami: Evil Detective? – Kamurocho, in front of Yagami Detective Agency after completing all School Stories
Reward: 50,000 Yen, 10,000 SP
This side case can only be started after you have completed all School Stories, then is started by walking in front of Yagami Detective Agency in Kamurocho. When Yagami returns to Kamurocho after all his time in Ijincho, he finds a number of people saying he’s been ripping people off and doing other illegal and dastardly things. You gain the keyword “Yagami” to check on Buzz Researcher. After checking it you then gain the keywords “saw”, “fraud”, and “threaten”, which you should also check. These will lead you over to the south entrance of the Champion District.
At the Champion District, you find a kid telling his grandpa that Yagami has stolen from him, and you should go up and talk to them. He tries to attack you, then another couple of grandpas show up looking for you. Put on a disguise from the menu so that you can escape the area.
Yagami decided to go ask at Tender, where you see the Bartender being asked about you by a police officer. Once the officer leaves, go up and speak to Jo. You will then automatically return to Yagami Detective Agency and find the area full of half-eaten food. Inspect the curry on the table.
Out on the street call Ranpo to have him lead you to the culprit. When you find them, turns out it’s Kasai and Sakakiba of the Neo Kaihen Gang, who came here after you busted them in Ijincho. Beat them up to complete the side case.
42. The Final Request ~Reprise~ (It’s time.) – Available from the bulletin board in Yokohama 99 after completing all 41 prior main game Side Cases, then started at the fountain in Hamakita Park
Reward: 500,000 Yen, 50,000 SP
After completing all 41 prior Side Cases, you can accept this one off the bulletin board in Yokohama 99. If you’ve played prior games, you know what this is: the traditional secret boss fight against an Amon family member. Before going to the start point, make sure you have an inventory full of healing items, along with items to make extracts during the fight to make it more manageable. If you want the easiest time, get the Warrior’s Onslaught extract ready, along with some extra materials to make more if needed. You should also put on equipment for reduced stun time and increased EX meter gain/duration.
Once you head to the park you’ll find Shin Amon, who was the secret Amon fight in the first game. Shortly his brother Juzo appears though, knocking out Shin and saying that you’ll fight him instead. You’ll be transported to the roof of the school for your fight.
This is probably one of the silliest Amon fights that RGG has made. Unlike the first game he doesn’t steal your phone, so you do always have access to your inventory, which you will probably need because this fight can take quite a while. Starting out he’ll stick with normal attacks for a bit, then starts doing the typical silly Amon attacks. The main ones to watch out for are the purple energy bolts.
The green orbital lasers that summon explosive drones.
And the big AOE ground punch he’ll do if you’re standing too close to him for too long.
He’ll use these more the lower his health goes, with him spamming them most frequently when you get down to his third last health bar (purple). Around this time he’ll also start doing a move where he grabs you and starts punching you on the ground, regaining health each time he does. This is the main part of what drags the fight out because he can continually heal himself off you. If he gets too far away from you and you aren’t attacking him he’ll also heal on his own, further dragging this out.
The “intended” way to beat this fight is to basically use as many unique EX moves on him as possible. You’ll notice that you eventually start doing less damage with most normal attacks, and doing repeated EX moves does basically no damage. This isn’t stance-specific like Amon in the first game, it’s just how this one works. Having items that recharge the EX meter is very useful for beating him this way so that you can regain meter and quickly perform more moves. The “non-intended+ way of beating him is to just use Extracts, particularly extremely broken ones like Warrior’s Onslaught. The combo performed by this does tons of damage to him and breaks through his guard, meaning you can make pretty quick work of him if you can spam this or other high damage extracts.

Shufu says
for me the side case 29 keyword does not pop out, I am at post game roam, finished side case 28, tried both day and night, and ‘fleeting overnight’ isnt coming out at all
B-I-G-DEVIL says
This is also effecting me. Did you have a way to get it to work?
raitokun84 says
for me, it appears automatically after going to Yokohama 99 and change to night.
B-I-G-DEVIL says
Yes that doesn’t work. I’d done that a lot before even realising I needed to. I’ve realised that the game is actually trying to give me the keyword but it’s not working and it’s still trying to as I play. The buzz keyword is just incredibly buggy in the game.
I’m in new game plus to try fix the issue and now the noise keyword is glitched on me. You unlock that automatically as part of story and I can consistently repeat the bug where it doesn’t give me the keyword in new game plus.
PotrikBerger says
Is there a trigger in the Amon fight to let you know when to change stances like there was in judgment? I hate that my special moves are doing no damage and it must be I’m in the wrong stance.
JNSea says
Are there any tips for beating Amon? I have tried dozens of timed, used every stance, item, and extract combo I could. Tried being offensive and defensive, and don’t think I’ve even taken more than maybe 3 bars off him on the best run. Perfected most of the yakuza games over the years and have never had this much trouble
potrikberger says
I didnt find out how to know when to change stances. I started off in snake whilst he wasnt using any powers and went to crane when i started using extracts. No idea if this helped or not. All I did was dodge a lot and hit back during the early part of the fight. Then I just ate back to back onslaught extract and laid into him and he went down pretty easily. Probably took three of them and he was down. Just stay close to him with dodge and hit so that he cant heal too much and it should come
Arkonite says
Hey 🙂
For Juzo Amon, there is no need to change stance to damage him.
Actually, you can fight him with normal hits until he lose around 3 bars of his life. Then he switched in aggro mode, landind blue lasers, firing purple energy balls and tacling sometimes.
The key is to use every EX skills. Each skill can hurt him only once. So you have to use every EX skills from all stances, (even the dog one works).
It’s also crucial to avoid his attacks to not fall, because he replenish his health when you’re down. If an attack put you down, try to use Tiger or Crane stance to quickly recover with triangle button.
Finally, The Diplomatic Solution extract helped me a lot at the end of the fight. First time you used it, it takes him away almost an entire life bar, but you can still reuse it, it still damage him pretty hard.
My advice is to escape all of his attacks with Tiger stance and use R1 + X, then when he lands his blue rays, get close to him and use the extract to finish him 🙂
Last tip, it’s better to get close to him to avoid he spam his purples balls. But not close to avoid his AOE attacks (explosions). In a nutshell, stand at 10 meters to him until he lands his blue rays. Be careful of his remote controlled cars homing to you and explode after some bips.
Hope this helps while waiting for Gage’s guide for this fight 🙂

There’s a way to see who defeated in VR Paradise: in Side Cases in Menu, any time you defeated someone (and listen the story by Tashiro) the Case File (Paradise VR Upgraded!) will be upgraded with the story of the guy. I’ve so far defeated only Virtua Suzuki & Tanago and I have only his story.
Hope this helps!
Brian Farey says
Little update: Tashiro bio was updated after I’ve defeated him; Kaito and Sugiura seems to be the only two that don’t have a sign of their defeat

Highly recommend stocking up on Tauriner/Staminan for the Amon fight. Also, all maxed skills and Boxer fight style in EX mode help immensely.
