Nioh 2 The Brothers’ Blades Walkthrough

March 10, 2020 by DK 1 Comment

The Brothers’ Blades is the 21st side mission in Nioh 2. This walkthrough will guide you through all areas of The Brothers’ Blades Side Quest.

The Brothers’ Blades is unlocked when you complete Corpses and Ice Main Mission.

Recommended Level: 46
Region: SHADOW
Requirement: Finish Corpses and Ice Main Mission
Reward: Taro Tachi (WATER), Jiro Tachi, Large Spirit Stone x2, Righteous Jasper x2

Clear the Dark Realm & Magara Naotaka Rematch

From the beginning of the level it is just a short run to your destination. Go up the ladder to the right. However, before heading to where you fought Magara Naotaka, you should go up the path to the right where you find a Dark Realm. Destroy the blue Crystal in the Dark Realm and interact with the Shrine.

Why is this important? Well, if you don’t clear this Dark Realm you will fight Magara Naotaka + a strong Revenant simultaneously in this mission (double boss). If you’ve cleared the Dark Realm, this Revenant won’t spawn at all so it’s just you against Magara, thus an easier fight.

Now head back to where you fought the mission boss Magara Naotaka before. First a few small enemies spawn, then Magara himself spawns. Since you have defeated him in the main mission already, you should know what to expect.

IMPORTANT: Remember to clear the Dark Realm at the 2nd Shrine first! If you don’t do this, a powerful Revenant spawns when Magara’s health is halfway depleted (thus the fight gets much harder).
If you actually do want to make it more difficult and fight Magara + Revenant at the same time, focus on Magara until he’s dead before attacking the Revenant. Don’t attack the Revenant at all while Magara is alive. That’s because Magara does ranged attack that you can’t see coming if you’re not locked-in on him.

The same tactic as during the first Magara encounter still works. You’ll want to stay in mid-stance because you need to dodge a lot (more efficient than high-stance dodges). The one single attack you’ll want to exploit is when he slams the ground to shoot ice/projectile in a straight line at you. When he does it, move towards him in a 45° angle. The projectile will miss you 100% of the time this way and you’ll be close to the boss and can land 1-3 hits. The spear is great here due to its extended reach (use :triangle: Spear attacks in mid stance to poke the boss from afar). Magara can’t do anything for a few seconds after using his projectile/ice projectile attack, so as you attack him from behind (+200% damage multiplier from behind).

Make sure you are wearing light armor below 30% equipment weight. You need to be very agile during this fight. Always run in a big circle around the boss and the revenant. Only run away, never attack until he does the projectile attack. That’s the only time you’ll want to attack.

Also, definitely make sure you have found all 25 Kodama Locations in the 3rd Region “Shadow”, so that you start out with 8 Elixirs after dying instead of just 3 (you will need the healing here). Having the Rejuvenation Onmyo Magic skill also helps as it heals you over time. Use these instead of Elixirs during the early phase of the fight, thus conserving your Elixirs for when you most need them later on. Having a good weapon and good set of light armor can make all the difference. If you have too much trouble, skip the boss for now and come back after you’re level 100, at which point he’ll be quite easy to kill.

This finishes The Brothers’ Blades side mission in Nioh 2.

Weird. I didn’t have to fight 2. I went up the hill and destroyed a Big Blue crystal shard and it killed his brother? Have to make sure you take out the two Aberrant soldiers or they will hand cannon you to death if the brother doesn’t kill you first.

Says something to the effect “I’ve failed it’s all up to you brother”.

So the fight was pretty much identical to the first. Or maybe it was a glitch IDK.
