Red Dead Redemption 2 All Weapons Locations

October 27, 2018 by DK 58 Comments

Red Dead Redemption 2 has 65 Weapons. This guide shows where to find all Weapon Locations in RDR2. You will need to find at least 48 of them to reach 100% completion of the game. Luckily you don’t have to find all the weapons in the game because some of them are highly missable and you will have only one chance to pick them up.

A bunch of them can simply be bought at gunsmiths, others are quest rewards or found in the open world, and some are automatic mission unlocks. You can always buy more ammo (and special ammo) at gunsmiths and pick up gun oil to repair your weapons.

You can keep track of how many firearms you’ve found under the Pause Menu, Progress, Compendium, Weapons.

Overview:

  • Red = Missable Weapons
  • Green = Weapons which can be bought or will be granted automatically and you don’t have to worry about
  • Blue = Weapons which you will have to find somewhere in the world or granted as a quest reward

Revolvers

  1. Cattleman Revolver – You start with this weapon
  2. Flaco’s Revolver – Pick it up after defeating Flaco Hernandez, one of the Legendary Gunslingers in The Noblest of Men, and a Woman Stranger Mission.

Quest giver is Algernon Wasp, who you will find in a greenhouse in the backyard of a big, blue house and he asks you to find Exotics for him.
  6. Schofield Revolver – Can be bought everywhere after a certain point in Chapter 2. It can also be found in a weapon case during the backroom-robbery of the drug store in Valentine.
  7. Otis Miller’s Revolver – Hidden in a chest of a small cave in the north of Cholla Springs, New Austin region. You can only go there after having reached the Epilogue. It’s part of the Torn Treasure Map Hunt.

You can also get the machete in chapter 2 during the Javier mission where you save Sean, when Javier mentions that Charles is up there after killing the group of guys coming down the hill (not the 2 you knife), shoot the guy Charles is fighting and go loot the Machete off his body

You can also get it during the mission ” A Fine Night For It”.
A few of the Night-Folks drop carry machete , and you can loot their body to get it.

Should be the broken pirate sword, I had to translate the weapons from german to english as good as possible and sometimes I probably chose the wrong word for a weapon.

Volatile Dynamite will increase total number of available weapons to 57. All these additional 6 throwables can be crafted (@Erogenous Jones’s 5 and this).

Yes, most of the melee weapon names are not accurate in English. As follows:
    3. War Hatchet –> Hatchet
    7. Jaw Bone Knife –> Jawbone Knife
    8. Wide Knife –> Wide-Blade Knife
    9. Horn Handle Knife –> Antler Knife
    10. Stone War Hatchet –> Stone Hatchet
    11. Rusty Double-Edged Hatchet –> Rusted Double Bit Hatchet
    13. Rusty Hunter Throwing Hatchet –> Rusted Hunter Hatchet
    14. Hunter Throwing Hatchet –> Hunter Hatchet
    15. Meat Cleaver –> Hewing Hatchet
    16. Double-Edged Hatchet –> Double Bit Hatchet
    17. Butcher Hatchet –> Cleaver

Forgot to add that you need first find recipes for these 6 throwable
weapons. Two are given during story (Improved Throwing Knife and Improved Tomahawk). Recipes for four other must be looted from chests or huts.

Saw a video about a Vampire Dagger, but I don’t have it yet in my game. Could it be # 58?

I still cannot believe there is not a single website out there listing all 59 weapons, with a full picture of the complete compendium, a week after release.

Why do you list Algernon’s Revolver as missable but not Jaw Bone Knife? I’m missing how they are any different.

Its possible that the mission for the Revolver is a missable mission while the Jaw Bone knife is a reward for a collectible

    • Vanyar1 says

      November 18, 2018 at 10:49 pm

Both weapons are from collectibles. I’m confused too why one weapon is missable and the other one isn’t. You can’t miss out on any of those two missions.

Found another weapon (if I didn’t overlook it): Rare Double-Barrel Shotgun – Found in Manito Glade northwest of Annesburg, you need to kill a man who lives in a house in the woods to get this weapon.

That makes 58 weapons so far.

I meant northeast of Annesburg. That small hut near the Glade xD

    • Vanyar1 says

      November 3, 2018 at 3:05 am

Never mind. It’s called “Rare Shotgun” but in the description it’s called “Rare Double-Barreled Shotgun”. Mehh.

    • Vanyar1 says

      November 3, 2018 at 4:19 am

Wait a second. I found this on another site:
      Rare Shotgun
There’s a cave on the far west of the map, north west of Big Valley, or west of Hanging Dog Ranch. Inside you’ll find the mysterious hermit who wields this Rare Shotgun. It doesn’t seem to be any more powerful than the regular double-barreled shotgun, but it looks amazing.

      Rare Double-Barrel Shotgun
You’ll have to kill a man for this one. Open up your map and set your waypoint below the letter “a” in Manito Glade. In this area you will find a settler’s home in the woods, and he’s packing the Rare Double-Barrel Shotgun. Kill him and it’s yours. Just be sure to loot him, otherwise, you won’t collect it later in the game. The weapon is rather decorative, has a two round capacity and can use a variety of shotgun ammo.

So there are two different rare shotguns.

According to the Piggyback guide, your missing:

    John’s Cattleman Revolver
    Volatile Fire Bottle
    Volatile Dynamite
    Improved Throwing Knife
    Poison Throwing Knife
    Improved Tomahawk
    Homing Tomahawk
    John’s Knife
    Ornate Dagger

This would make the count 60, not 59. One weapon must not count. My guess is maybe the Stone Hatchet. Can anyone confirm.

When you’re at the end of the Galen playing as John, you only have his knife and a lantern. I know they stack because I had all of them with Arthur. When I’m playing John, they aren’t there and I can’t get them back.

I have similar issue with Cleaver. Fences list that I have 1/1 in inventory (so can’t buy one back) but Compendium entry for it is empty. Similarly it isn’t in horses inventory.

I remember that I picked it up during story as Arthur, got Compendium notification and could use it normally. But now during post-story it’s gone.

    • CountKarloff says

      November 15, 2018 at 1:10 pm

      Got reply from Rockstar Support:
“We are aware of this issue within the game. After you complete the story of Arthur the weapons you received are no longer accessible. Unfortunately, we are still looking into a solution for this.”

  17. CountKarloff says

So there should be 61 weapons in total. 59 in-game and 2 from GTA Online Challenges.

    Missing from weapon list is:
    59. Ornate Dagger (from Saint Denis side/stranger mission, as @John mentioned above). This completes main games Compendium.

Two GTA Online weapons will get their unique entries raising total to 61. Maybe they should be removed from main list and placed on separate one (GTA Online Unique Rewards)?
    60. Stone Hatchet (from GTA Online, as confirmed multiple times above)
    61. Double-Action Revolver (from GTA Online)

    Lemat Revolver
“Unique ability to switch to a secondary barrel for buckshot”

Didn’t see it on list. Which is odd considering my story mode is showing 63 weapons and this list says 65. But then the Navy Revolver probably isn’t available in story mode so the confusion is exponential…
