Red Dead Redemption 2 American Fathers – II Walkthrough

November 5, 2018 by Jack McBastard 2 Comments

American Fathers – II is the 54th main story mission in Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2). This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of American Fathers – II Main Quest including all Gold Medals for 100% completion.

American Fathers – II is unlocked after completing The Gilded Cage.

Quest Giver: Evelyn Miller
Chapter: 4
Region: Lemoyne

Gold Medal Requirements:

  • Infiltrate the factory by hiding in the wagon
  • Reach Danbury’s office without being detected
  • Kill all the horseback pursuers during the escape
  • Complete with at least 80% accuracy

Starting Location: Saint Denis, Lemoyne

Talk to Evelyn Miller

This quest shows up as a stranger main quest even if you already spoke with Evelyn Miller at the mayor’s party. He will introduce Rains Fall and Eagle Flies, a great chief and his son, who need help proving that their tribes are going to be moved again due to the discovery of huge oil reserves under their lands. Arthur offers to help, after Rains Fall promises a great reward.

Meet Eagle Flies Near Citadel Rock

Travel to Citadel Rock, and Eagle Flies will be gathering intelligence on the Heartland Oil Fields below you. He wants you to enter the office above the refinery room and get the survey files to prove the government’s ill intent.

As soon as you finish your conversation with Eagle Flies and you have control again, there will be a wagon directly in front of you that you can use to sneak in to the compound immediately.

  • GOLD MEDAL: Infiltrate the factory by hiding in the wagon
  • GOLD MEDAL: Reach Danbury’s office without being detected

The wagon will stop for a passing train, allowing you to easily climb on board.

Now as long as no one looks into the back of the truck, or turns in your direction as you pass, or even does their job a little bit, you’ll make it.

Tom is a terrible guard.

Watch your mini-map to ensure the driver is turned away from you, then exit the back of the wagon quickly, crouch, and head up the short staircase directly in front of you.

Enter the door under the stairs to the right.

Inside this room, you’ll see a guard patrol go past and then go out the large door to the south. There will also be a mechanic crouched down, working on one of the machines in the center of the room.

Go straight ahead into this room, and take cover behind the crate near the mechanic.

A short time later, they should get up and go towards the large door as well. Follow them, but not too closely.

As soon as you can head west around the machinery do so, moving along the south side of the room, all the way to the stairs.

Be careful to move slowly up the stairs, as there is a worker sweeping in the corner of the first floor right below you.

On the second floor, you’ll be on a wooden catwalk. There will be a guard leaning on the railing facing North.

After a while, they will turn away and look out the window to the south.

When this happens, stay on the north side of the room and head east all the way to the other side.

From here, its a straight shot to the office.

Head in and let Danbury know how it is going to be.

His interrogation will be painfully brief. A little beating, a little threatening, and he folds like a cheap suit.

Not only does he give you the files you need, he also remains quiet instead of raising the alarm when someone comes to the door. To maintain your stealth, exit the office through the window.

Outside, you slide down the roof and right into a jam.

Luckily Eagle Flies has planned a ‘diversion’.

Get to cover, and take out the guards.

  • GOLD MEDAL: Complete with at least 80% accuracy

Fun fact: lanterns don’t like to be shot.

Once the immediate area is clear of guards, head to the southeast to meet with Eagle Flies, watching out for rider reinforcements along the way.

Eagle Flies has brought you your horse. Mount up and follow him out of the factory.

It will not take their riders long to catch up with you.

  • GOLD MEDAL: Kill all the horseback pursuers during the escape

There should only be three, so a solid Dead Eye run should take care of them.

Once you’re free of pursuit, a cinematic will play to bring the mission to a close.

This finishes American Fathers – II main mission in Red Dead Redemption 2. Now the next quest Country Pursuits starts.

Next Up: Country Pursuits

Note you must kill horseback pursuers yourself. If Eagle kills one of them you won’t get the gold

Yeah, don’t follow Eagle too closely during the escape. Hang back a bit and keep looking behind you and you’ll see them spawn in. One comes from under the bridge where your horses were, one comes from the trees to right and the other magically spawns right in front of the bridge guy.

You’ll need to kill them quickly and from a decent range, otherwise Eagle will kill them himself with his sick archery skills. Had to redo this three times, once because Eagle killed a guy, another because the tree guy never spawned and another because my accuracy wasn’t 80% somehow.
