- Complete the mission without taking any health items
Starting Location:
Clemens Point, Lemoyne
Talk to Molly
Molly is worried about Dutch. It seems like there is something that she wants to talk about with you, but before she can get it out, Uncle interrupts and drags you away.
I mean, if looks could kill.
Anyhow, Uncle has a tip on a job that he wants to draft Arthur, Charles and Bill into. Arthur agrees, but only if Uncle rides with them too. It takes some convincing, but he agrees because the score is too good to ignore. He wants you to hit a supply wagon that is carrying payroll, because he knows that it will be briefly unguarded at one point on its journey just before it reaches Rhodes. Seems simple enough, right? Right?!
Soon after riding out of camp, he stops the group and has everyone put on their bandanna to make it harder to identify them.
True to his info, they spot the coach in the distance right on time. So far so good.
Rob the Wagon
Ride up to the wagon until and stay near it while it stops.
Go around to the back of the wagon to check it out. Search the chest to find a lot of money. Seems like Uncle’s plan is going pretty well…
…there we go. That’s more like an Uncle plan.
Escape the Pursuers With the Gang
- GOLD MEDAL: Complete the mission without taking any health items
- GOLD MEDAL: Get 20 headshots
- GOLD MEDAL: Complete with at least 80% accuracy
You will be pursued by some of Cornwall’s goons. While riding, you can try using Dead Eye to get some headshots, but even with the reduced speed, you’ll be jostling around a lot, so don’t take the shot unless you’re sure you’ll hit. You’ll need 20 headshots over the course of this mission, but you will have a lot of targets to choose from, so take your time and keep your accuracy high.
Eventually, Uncle tells you to get off the trail and try to lose them in the woods so they can get back to camp. Arthur instead suggests that they find some place to lie low, because Uncle’s not exactly a military strategist.
You will eventually reach a barn that you can hole up in until nightfall. Everyone gets inside and scatters the horses, then set up to wait for nightfall.
Just as they think they’re safe, it looks like they’re not out of the woods yet.
Arthur and the others have to remain hidden while Cornwall’s guards search for them around the grounds.
The guards don’t see anything, and call the all clear, when suddenly Bill accidentally knocks over a can and everything escalates very quickly from there.
Fend Off the Attackers
This barn is now about to be attacked from all sides. Use Dead Eye generously and work towards the rest of your 20 headshots while popping back and forth to cover. This is a great area for using a sniper rifle, or any rifle with a scope that is accurate. Just remember that four out of five hits have to connect to get your gold. Refresh your Dead Eye meter as necessary, as long as the items you use do not affect your Health as well. Dead Eye will also help you spot enemies in the darker areas near the house to the East. This section of the mission is where you will earn most of your headshots, so make it count.
There are so many enemies attacking that its hard to keep track of them all, but your biggest enemy is a little closer to home.
Remember that guard that Charles shot? Remember that lantern he was holding?
Remember that you’re crouching in basically a tinderbox of old wood and straw?
Very quickly, the barn starts to lose structural integrity. You need to find an escape route. Soon.
Bill smashes through the wrecked wall at the back of the barn. Follow your companions through the hole.
Bill wants to split up and lose them in the woods.
Partway down the hill Uncle will direct you to take cover behind some rocks.
You and Uncle divide up the targets. Wait there for your pursuers to pass the rock, get in position and perform a stealth takedown of the right henchman.
- GOLD MEDAL: Save Uncle when he is overpowered
Unfortunately it seems that Uncle can’t quite manage the takedown, and ends up on the ground.
Use the melee button to kick the attacker off of Uncle, or just shoot him in the head. The henchman that is. Not Uncle.
Uncle will get up, and you will hear gunfire. Charles and Bill are under attack, and Uncle says you should go help. They will have two attackers between you and them that are easy pickings for some stealth headshots.
Afterwards, there will be three or four enemies to deal with in front of them on the other side of some rocks. Last call for headshots.
Once they are dealt with, the group will split up and run, and the mission will be complete.
This finishes An Honest Mistake main mission in Red Dead Redemption 2. Now the next quest The Course of True Love – III starts.

Weird. When I did the mission uncle just shot the guy so I didn’t get he chance to get the medal
Marriaud says
Same here after 3 replays. But on the first playthrough I had the opportunity to help him. I think you can’t get the gold medal on replay for this mission.
Marriaud says
Read on Youtube : you have to wait for the Uncle to perform the takedown first.
Ken says
Yeah first try I did my stealth takedown and dumbass uncle ran away toward Bill and Charles while the second guy he was supposed to takedown was shooting me in the face… Bill was faily close to the guy too
Andy says
