Good, Honest, Snake Oil is the 21st main story mission in Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2). This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of Good, Honest, Snake Oil Main Quest including all Gold Medals for 100% completion.
Good, Honest, Snake Oil is unlocked after completing Polite Society, Valentine Style.

- Hogtie Allbright within 1 minute 15 seconds
- Return Allbright to the sheriff within 1 minute 30 seconds
Starting Location: Valentine, New Hanover
Talk to the Sheriff
The first time you’re in Valentine on your own, you’ll notice that a new icon has appeared on the map for Bounty Hunting. Enter the Sheriff’s office and you’ll be offered the opportunity to make a little extra money by tracking down a fugitive.
The vicious criminal is Benedict Allbright, who is charged with selling so-called “Miracle Oil” that is making people sick.
He is wanted alive, so you will have to be careful how you capture him. No deadly force!
Capture Benedict Allbright
You will track Allbright north, finding him in a camp built into an overhang on the Dakota River. Sneaking up on him will not be necessary. When prompted, confront him to begin the encounter.
Initially he will deny that he is Allbright until you make him believe that you need his medicine to cure your sick mother, then his greed gets the better of him. Once you tell him that you’re there to take him in, he’ll panic and start backing away from you until he begins to fall off the cliff.
- GOLD MEDAL: Stop Benedict Albright falling off the cliff
Arthur will have to pull him up quickly by following the on-screen prompts.
Once you save his life, he realizes that you are still taking him in, and that you have to take him in alive. Faced with no options, this time he decides to take his chances and jumps into the water himself!
You will have to chase him down the river on horseback to catch him. Follow the road on the left side of the river.
When the road forks, cross the river to the other side then follow the road to the left along the path of the river.
The road will fork a couple times, but keep choosing the path that follows the river.
Eventually Allbright will go through some rapids, then into a slower part of the river where you can finally catch up to him and use your lasso to pull him ashore.
- GOLD MEDAL: Hogtie Allbright within 1 minute 15 seconds
Once you have him lassoed, quickly pull him ashore and hogtie him…
- GOLD MEDAL: Return Allbright to the sheriff within 1 minute 30 seconds
…And once he’s hogtied, quickly stow him on your horse and hurry back to the Sheriff’s office in Valentine.
Once you’ve gotten back to Valentine, pick up Allbright off your horse and take him inside.
The Sheriff will tell you to drop him in the cell, then come back to pick up your money.
Collecting your pay from the Sheriff will complete the mission.
This finishes Good, Honest, Snake Oil main mission in Red Dead Redemption 2. Now the next quest Further Questions of Female Suffrage starts.

Late answer but he was telling somebody’s wife to leave her husband for him
Should say you can’t skip cutscene before he falls from cliff otherwise he will fall. If you going for gold, I mean.
