Red Dead Redemption 2 has a Manual Save function. This guide will explain how RDR2’s save system works:
To make a manual save:
- Open Pause Menu
- Click on Story
- Save Game
You have 15 manual save slots. It’s highly recommended you keep a save from the start and end of every chapter. You can also replay story missions at any time in the Pause Menu under ‘Progress’.
By default, the game creates an auto-save at certain checkpoints. Beware though that quitting the game during a mission usually makes you replay the entire mission from scratch. Especially during chapter transitions you don’t want to make this mistake. Sometimes when a new chapter starts it puts you in a new main mission right away and doesn’t make an auto-save. Always play until you can make a manual save just to make sure nothing gets lost.

I noticed your standard profile save file, as well as the original and duplicate backup files for both the autosave and the manual save I made. Is it normal for a game to have a duplicate save file?
it will not let me manually save it says save slots are empty
now resolved -you need to complete the first chapter then it will unlock the manual save option
Hi I’m on chapter 2 and as everyone else who purchased this game I also can’t save it. I tried everything but save is locked. I never used cheats. I’m not in any mission . Tried at camp fire … nothing working . No autosave nothing.
I have this same problem, have you found out how to fix this problem?

My main problem is that if i save, it won’t load me back where i was, it puts me somewhere near. Also, if i had something with me f.e. a cart of logs, this crap ge looses that. The bounties are saved, my progress does not. For such a big title i am disappointed
Also also, the autosave is a big piece of crap as well.
I shit something up, and this game forces me to start over riding a f***** horse for half an hour, that i can watch in cinematic mode, but i must be at it 24/7 cause some wolfs might attack or the horse is tired in the snow; with the bounty i got for pointing my gun instead of saying hallo cause its got to be the same f**** bizton; and without the items i suffer for.
Jeesus this game is slow, boring and annoying. Nothing revolutionaty here, if you want a decent game install the witcher 3
