Paying a Social Call is the 10th main story mission in Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2). This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of Paying a Social Call Main Quest including all Gold Medals for 100% completion.
Paying a Social Call is unlocked when you complete Polite Society, Valentine Style.

Gold Medal Requirements:
- Silently kill 4 O’Driscolls
- Get 12 headshots
- Complete with at least 80% accuracy
- Complete the mission without taking any health items
Starting Location: Horseshoe Overlook, New Hanover
Follow Kieran’s Directions
After a rather brutal interrogation session, Kieran has revealed the location of Colm O’Driscoll at Six Point Cabin.
Marston carries Kieran on his horse, and he leads Bill Williamson, Marston and you to the O’Driscoll’s hideout.
When you eventually reach the location, you start in hiding with the chance to take out several O’Driscolls silently.
Kill the O’Driscolls
- GOLD MEDAL: Silently kill 4 O’Driscolls
- GOLD MEDAL: Get 12 headshots
- GOLD MEDAL: Complete with at least 80% accuracy
- GOLD MEDAL: Complete the mission without taking any health items
The requirements for a gold medal on this mission are almost tailor made for a stealthy approach. Stay crouched and approach the first O’Driscoll slowly. If you have throwing knives or a bow, line up for a headshot.
Bill will advance with you towards the next two enemies who are standing side by side, and you can order him to perform a ranged (throwing knife) or knife kill. Line up your shot, to the head and Bill will then take out whichever of the O’Driscolls you don’t.
Keep moving towards the camp, and Bill will spot another guy sitting on a log with his back to you. Indicate to Bill that you’re going to “Take the Lead” and kill him with a throwing knife to the head.
Circle around the camp to the left, and there is another O’Driscoll sitting on a crate that you can approach from the side. Kill him with a throwing knife to the head, and that should be your fourth silent kill, and hopefully your fourth headshot.
Make sure to cut wide around the camp so that the enemies in the center don’t notice you. Keep eliminating enemies around the perimeter for as long as you can before you’re spotted. Once that happens, you’ll have to be very careful. You will need to complete the rest of your headshots, with 80% accuracy. Dead Eye is great for this, ensuring you hit your target and improve your accuracy, and get a headshot if you can paint them there. Stay back and in cover to prevent taking too much damage.
Midway through the fight, there will be a second wave as several O’Driscolls coming back to camp hear the gunshots and engage you from the South. There should be more than enough enemies to get 12 headshots, but if you’re running out of O’Driscolls you can use a weaker gun to ensure that you get multiple head shots on an enemy before it dies.
Search the Cabin
As you enter the cabin, you’ll be knocked down by an O’Driscoll ambush.
Just before he shoots you while you’re down, Kieran saves your life and shoots the gunman.
When you’re back on your feet, you realize that Colm is not here. Just as you’re about to give up and go back to the camp in defeat, Kieran mentions that there is a cash stash to be found inside the cabin’s chimney.
Search the cabin for anything useful that you can salvage in addition to the money. For example, there’s a double-barreled shotgun above the fireplace that’s probably worth taking, if you don’t have one. Once you grab the money in the chimney, the mission will be complete.

Done this mission 4 times and every time I take the shotgun it glitches out and I can’t move I’ve shoot or anything and have to restart my game and do it all over again
You have to pay attention to the tool tips, its not a glitch. You won’t be able to move until after you clean the shotgun. Go into weapon wheel and hit R3 while highlighting the shotgun to observe it. Then hit the button to clean the weapon. You can advance after this.
Clean the gun with gun oil. It will complete after that
I started over because i messed up some stuff. So i was skipping the cutscenes to fly back to where i was. I skipped the last scene where keiren saves me and tells me about the money. Does that mean i automatically spared him and he comes back to basecamp
The extra $300 from chimney what happens to it
I’m struggling because my comrades are killing everyone too fast. What do you mean by this:

Paying a Social Call isn’t unlocked by completing Polite Society, Valentine Style. I did Paying a Social Call way before Polite Society, Valentine Style. Keiran has been walking around doing chores while Uncle sleeps for 3 days now. Just finished Valentine Style last night.
I’m having a hard time with this mission. I suspect that if you shoot a person who has been head shot then it will count as a missed shot and thus drag your average down. By pretty much finishing the mission in Dead Eye I know I have hit every shot head and body. Yet still can’t maintain eight percent average. Thus my theory that shooting a previously head shot enemy will be negative in average.
I think you are right. If you use deadeye, because it’s still in auto mode, most likely it is painting multiple x’s on your target. If your first shot is a headshot, he is dead and the remaining shots count as misses. I got around this by using only the bow but still using deadeye for everything. I also headshot 3 civilians on the ride out.
Anyone having issues with the first stealth kill? The first few times I attempted the mission I could shoot the first guy with the bow. Now it immediately alerts the two guys up ahead. I also tried a closer silent takedown, this also alerts the two o’driscolls. Sending Bill works, but gives me one less headshot. I also seem to be having trouble with the accuracy requirement. On one attempt, I shot 100% of my shots while in dead eye and still didn’t get the 80% acurracy req. I’m wondering if this is could be a glitch. Tired of replaying this mission…
Same thing here. I’m sure I killed 4 O “Driscolls silently and nothing to score at the end of the mission.
Had the same problem with the first guy, the two close by always get aggro, but if you are really quick, you can take them out before they alert anyone else. Then sneak to the left, there’s two near the bushes who stand alone. Circle back to the right, move counterclockwise around the camp in a bit of a distance and you find another guy alone in front of a house. From there straight on are two guys, pick one and then the shoot out starts, but you should have at least for stealth kills.
The authorities came while I was searching the cabin. Can anyone tell me why this happened?
Did the same thing to me…. Somehow a crime was reported and the authorities came after me before I even left the cabin.
