The Delights of Van Horn is the 76th main story mission in Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2). This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of The Delights of Van Horn Main Quest including all Gold Medals for 100% completion.
The Delights of Van Horn is unlocked after completing Just a Social Call.

Gold Medal Requirements:
- Headshot 5 soldiers with a long scoped rifle
- Complete with at least 85% accuracy
Starting Location: Roanoke Ridge, New Hanover
Talk to Micah
Meet up with Micah, then ride out with Bill to ambush a wagon train.
Bill will serve as a distraction while you cover him from a nearby building with your sniper rifle.
Once Bill staggers out and the convoy comes to a stop, you can launch the attack.
- GOLD MEDAL: Headshot 5 soldiers with a long scoped rifle
- GOLD MEDAL: Complete with at least 85% accuracy
Use Dead Eye to maximize your time and start getting head shots.
Once the attack begins, the guards on the wagon climb down and take cover.
When the guards are almost defeated, they will attempt to retreat, leaving them open for you to clean up. Make sure you get the 5 headshots for the gold medal by this point.
Get on the wagon with Bill and be prepared to defend it as he drives it back to camp. Riders will be following you initially, so turn around and be ready. Dead Eye is very useful as both you and your targets on horseback will be bouncing around.
If you ever get a large number of enemies behind you, change to a different weapon to clear up the glut of targets. You have to make sure that your wagon doesn’t take too much damage or the dynamite will explode!
Reach Micah and the mission will be complete.
This finishes The Delights of Van Horn main mission in Red Dead Redemption 2. Now the next quest Goodbye, Dear Friend starts.

DO NOT use the Carcano rifle Bill gives you, or you’ll never get the 5 headshot medal. The rifle is equipped with a MEDIUM scope, not a long scope so it won’t work.
After he hands it to you, go to your horse and get one of your own rifles with a long scope before heading up to the sniping point.
This is a straight up lie. I just did this missions and got credit for using the caracano rifle.
You need all 5 headshots during the initial ambush. Not when they follow you on horseback.
Hi. The Carcano rifle worked for me after i put on a long scoped…before that, i didn’t got the 100%…
I played twice with paying attention to every single shot hitting, still no 85% accuracy. The gold medals are annoying enough as is, they could’ve at least have stuff work properly.
Same with headshots, sometimes they simply don’t count for no reason.
This game is full of bugs. and full of sh*t fans.
