Who is Not without Sin is the 12th main story mission in Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2). This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of Who is Not without Sin Main Quest including all Gold Medals for 100% completion.
Who is Not without Sin is unlocked when you complete Polite Society, Valentine Style.
Quest Giver: Reverend Swanson
Chapter: 2
Region: New Hanover
Gold Medal Requirements:
- Win 2 hands of Poker
- Returned Reverend to camp within 2 minutes 5 seconds
Starting Location: Flatneck Station, New Hanover
Play Poker
In a back room at Flatneck Station, you’ll find Reverend Swanson playing Poker with some disreputable folks. After drunkenly sermonizing for a bit, he will wander off and the players offer you his seat.
Choose to play.
- GOLD MEDAL: Win 2 hands of Poker
You don’t have to win the entire game, just two hands. After which you can exit the game and go looking for the Reverend.
Find Reverend Swanson
Talk to some of the people on the platform to see if they know where Swanson went.
They’ll point you in the right direction, and you’ll find him in the middle of a fight with a large man.
As you knock the man out, you’ll find that your assault has not gone unnoticed. Confront (or shoot) the witness to ensure his silence. When you start making your way back up the hill, you realize that the Reverend is gone again, this time you’ll find him on the railroad tracks going across a bridge.
Save Reverend Swanson
It seems Reverend Swanson has gotten his foot caught between some railroad ties on the bridge. If that’s not bad enough, there’s a train coming straight for you.
You will quickly have to rotate the Left Stick to turn his foot to the correct position using the vibration as your guide. When his foot is placed correctly, you’ll see a prompt to mash the X / A button to help him pull free of the hole, narrowly avoiding a painful death. A cinematic will play, and at its end, Reverend Swanson will pass out cold.
Return Reverend Swanson to Horseshoe Overlook
- GOLD MEDAL: Returned Reverend to camp within 2 minutes 5 seconds
Pick up Reverend Swanson and toss him on the back of your horse, then run as fast as you can to the camp to complete the mission.
This finishes Who is Not without Sin main mission in Red Dead Redemption 2. Now the next quest The Spines of America starts.

Craig says
Unable to save him keeps prompting to use the “i” button on the PS4 of which it’s not clear what that is.
Chris says
Same issue on xbox. Not sure what to do with “i” and not much time to figure it out.
Chris says
Figured it out: Rotate the left stick to a specific position and then it will tell you which button to tap while holding the stick in that position. On xbox you tap A.
Jack McBastard says
Hi Craig and Chris. I’ve updated the description to be more clear what actions the game needs to let you pull Swanson’s foot out of the tracks. Hope that helps.
EHS says
At present it’s impossible to achieve gold medal if you replay this mission cause the horse is weak and slow and you don’t have stimulators.
Jojo says
Nope. I’ve just done it. The trick is ignoring the prompt to hitch your horse. I also didn’t follow the suggested path immediately, instead moving forward down the slight ramp then going left past Limpany.
nirlicnick says
It’s possible to win 2 hands of poker, and not get the challenge, however I’ve noticed this is because you pretty much will win the first regardless, and probably lose the second hand. The 3rd and 4th you will probably win, play till the forth hand and win then leave. To make sure you win
Tim says
I was trying to get gold and shot the witness, however that option alerted the law and I failed the mission. If your going for gold watch out for this
Tim says
Tried it again. Turns out if you kill the witness too quick the reverend doesn’t make it to the track and the police are alerted. Make sure to chase the witness down the hill a little before you kill him
John says
How do you complete this using a PC keyboard?
