Red Dead Redemption 2 Who the Hell is Leviticus Cornwall? Walkthrough

October 26, 2018 by Jack McBastard 6 Comments

Who the Hell is Leviticus Cornwall? is the 5th main story mission in Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2). This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of Who the Hell is Leviticus Cornwall? Main Quest including all Gold Medals for 100% completion.

Who the Hell is Leviticus Cornwall? triggers automatically when you complete both The Aftermath of Genesis and Enter, Pursued By a Memory.

Quest Giver: N/A
Chapter: 1
Region: Ambarino

Gold Medal Requirements:

  • Save Lenny when he is hanging from the train
  • After stopping the train, take out the guards within 1 minute 30 seconds
  • Take no damage during the shootout
  • Get 10 headshots
  • Complete the mission without taking any health items

Starting Location: Colter, Ambarino

Follow Dutch

It’s finally time to pull off a train robbery! Follow Dutch and his gang on a long, conversation filled ride to the heist.

Eventually you’ll reach a cliff overlooking the tracks where Bill Williamson is planting explosives on the track.

Check on Bill

Dutch wants you to go down and check on Bill’s progress with setting the charges. He asks for some help setting the detonator and running the wires for the explosives. Grab the spool of wire and walk towards the detonator, and when you’re close enough, connect the wire to the detonator when prompted.

Bill then sends you back to the group, saying he has it from there. Making a note of his famous last words, return to Dutch to trigger a cinematic.

Jump on the Train

Looks like Bill is bad at demolitions, so it’s time for plan B. Get off your horse and follow Charlie and Lenny up the path to the cliff above the other end of the tunnel. Jump down as soon as you get to the edge, to land on the roof of the train. You’ll quickly look back to see that Charlie didn’t make it, and Lenny is hanging for dear life right in front of you!

  • GOLD MEDAL: Save Lenny when he is hanging from the train

Quickly move to Lenny and grab him, hammering the pull button as quickly as you can to get him up onto the roof of the train.

Stop the Train

Proceed forward, and watch out for guards on the train.

  • GOLD MEDAL: Get 10 headshots
  • GOLD MEDAL: Complete the mission without taking any health items

Be cautious. There are no time limits so don’t be afraid to stay in cover, but not so long that the enemies manage to destroy the cover you’re behind. You cannot use any health items throughout the entire mission.

Line up headshots wherever possible without putting yourself in danger. Once you reach the blue container car two cars behind the engine, be careful as there is one last guard who will climb up and shoot you. While on the train you can get 7 out of 10 headshots done (do the remaining 3 after the train stops).

Once you reach the engine, you’ll catch up with Lennie, who has gotten himself into a bit of a jam. Go into Dead Eye mode, and tag the head of the person holding him as a human shield. When you fire, Lenny will be safe.

Arthur will start pulling levers, and luckily is able to stop the train!

Eliminate the Guards

  • GOLD MEDAL: Take no damage during the shootout
  • GOLD MEDAL: After stopping the train, take out the guards within 1 minute 30 seconds

Once the train is stopped, you only have 90 seconds to eliminate the last remaining guards that are late to the firefight for some reason, so move quickly! For a gold medal you are not allowed to take any damage in this section.

Wake ‘Em Up a Little

Dutch and the group will gather around the private car on the train, the main target of your train heist. When diplomacy fails, Dutch orders you top open fire on the private car , and when that doesn’t work, he asks you to place some dynamite and blast the door open!

Search the inside of the car for items, then when you’re ready to proceed search the lockbox in the bottom of the cabinet to find a whack of bearer bonds who have just met their new bearer.

Dutch leaves the fate of the guards in your hands, so kill or spare depending on your morality.

Get to the Engine Car and Start the Train

Run to the front of the train to find the Engine. Climb up and interact with the engine to start the train, and you’ll start a cinematic where you jump off to leave the train to its fate, ending the mission.

This finishes Who the Hell is Leviticus Cornwall? main mission in Red Dead Redemption 2. Now the next quest Eastward Bound starts.

I’ve replayed this for the gold a number of times. Can’t seem to get 10 headshots and take no health items to check off.

    Anyone else having issues?

It has to be done by 1 try from beginning to the end, cannot be retake by checkpoint

Does “take no damage during the shootout” include the guards after stopping the train or is it just the guards while you’re on the train?

Ok I got the gold medal for this mission, but the order of the tasks you have listed is wrong – the “take no damage” only applies to the final shootout where you have to finish them all off in 90 seconds. You *can* actually take damage in the section before you stop the train – so the part about climbing up the second to last car before the engine is inaccurate (you don’t need to worry about a perfect run in that section at all). You also can’t get the 10 headshots in that first train section, so that task is also located in the wrong section of your guide. At most, you can get 7 or 8 in that first section.
