Introduction
Welcome to the Rise of the Ronin Trophy Guide! Rise of the Ronin is a new IP from Team Ninja, taking place in an open world. There are 3 story chapters, each one unlocking a new main region. The map you see in Chapter 1 is only a third of the overall game world, with the rest unlocking in Chapters 2 and 3. The game’s content consists of Main Missions, Bond Missions (which are tied to specific Allies), Grass Roots Missions (Side Quests), and Collectibles. For Platinum you need to finish most of the content but not 100% completion. You need all Main Missions, Bond Missions, Cats, Photo Spots, 50 of 80 Fugitives, enough Treasure Chests to buy 15 Technology Upgrades. The way Collectibles work is that each region has an “Area Bond”. Complete the Public Order events, raise the Veiled Edge Banners, and find a few Collectibles to reach Area Bond 3. Then the remaining collectibles get marked on the map automatically. Luckily, there is a Mission Select called “Testament of the Soul” which is unlocked in Chapter 2. Through this you can go back in time to previous Chapters/Regions and replay any Mission to change your decisions. Hence, nothing is missable.
Step 1: Complete the Story [15-25 Hours]
Your first step is to complete the story. What difficulty you pick doesn’t matter, you can play on easy (called “Dawn”) if you like. It also doesn’t matter what decisions you make in the story, you can go with either the Anti-Shogunate or Pro-Shogunate choices. These will cancel out each other but you can replay the alternate path through Mission Select after the story. Feel free to work on side tasks as you see fit (any Side Missions and Collectibles you come across). Nothing is missable and you can still do everything after the story in Free-Roam and Mission Select.
There are just a few things you should keep in mind for maximum efficiency:
- 50 Chance Encounters: Do Chance Encounters whenever you see them. You need 50 total of them. They are random events. If you always do them you won’t have to spend so much time looking for them later.
- 100 Assassinations: Do Assassinations whenever possible. You need 100 total. Sneak up to enemies in stealth and press .
- Equip Full Armor Set: You need to equip one full armor set (4 matching armor pieces). You should get at least one set from story rewards. Set pieces are indicated by golden text in their item description.
- Combat Tip: If playing on easy difficulty, the most efficient way to win every fight is hold to block and spam with an Odachi (big sword). It consumes almost no Ki (Stamina) and staggers enemies fast.
Step 2: Midnight Difficulty & Defeat Blue Demon [0.5 Hours]
After the story you will unlock “Midnight Difficulty” and can replay mission from the “Testament of the Soul” at any Longhouse. Replay the first Main Mission on Midnight Difficulty to unlock Midnight Crossing. The mission is for Level 56. If you have problems with this, do some side content to level up to make this easier.
Also replay the 2nd Main Mission “Infiltrating the Black Ship” on easy difficulty. This time, defeat the second boss at the end of the mission called “Blue Demon” to unlock Tears of a Blue Demon. On the first playthrough he was very difficult but now that you are leveled up you can defeat him in a few hits.
Step 3: Collectibles & Bond Missions Cleanup [20-30 Hours]
Collectibles: Collectibles get marked on the map when reaching Area Bond Level 3. You increase the Area Bond by finishing the Public Order Events, raising the Veiled Edge Banners, and finding a few more Collectibles.
For complete guides for each region refer to: Rise of the Ronin All Collectible Locations.
You need the following collectibles for Platinum:
- All 100 Cats – Cats Over All
- All 44 Photograph Spots – Sightseer
- Only 50 of 91 Fugitives (many of them are part of Public Order events) – Keeper of the Peace
- Only enough of 113 Treasure Chests to buy 15 Technology Development Upgrades – Contraption Creator
- Only enough of 49 Shrines to fully upgrade one Stat (one Skill Tree) – A Jack of One Trade is a Master of All
For trophies you don’t need the Veiled Edge Banners and Landmarks. However, collecting them will help increase your Area Bond to reveal the other Collectibles. Feel free to skip them but if you walk past them it’s still worth picking them up. The Banners act as fast travel points. Landmarks sometimes contain other Collectibles like Fugitives or Treasure Chests. Public Order Events aren’t directly linked to any trophy but are often required to unlock other Collectibles.
Bond Missions: You will need to complete all 58 Bond Missions. Their starting location can be marked from the Missions Menu. You will need to fast travel back to their relevant Region using the Testament of the Soul at the Longhouse. As you play through them you will gradually unlock more Bond Missions. Each set of Bond Missions is tied to one Ally, doing one mission unlocks the next (1 to 5 Bond Missions per Ally). You can see exactly which missions you have left and what the unlock requirement is by going to the Longhouse > Testament of the Soul > select Bond Missions > press to switch between allies.
If you need to increase the relationship with an ally to advance their missions, find them in the open world and exhaust all dialogues and give them a gift, then replay short missions with them until your Bond Level has increased. You can quickly locate any ally or their bond mission by going to the Bond Menu > for Allies > press on an Ally for Details > click on the Location or Related Mission. It will immediately jump to the location in the world or the relevant mission in the menu.
Refer to Rise of the Ronin All Bond Missions.
Step 4: Miscellaneous & All Allies (Partial Mission Replays) [1-2 Hours]
At this point you might still be missing some of the allies. You will have gotten almost all of them from playing through the Bond Missions, but a few of them are tied to certain story choices and will require mission replays. For any you have left refer to Rise of the Ronin How to Unlock All Allies.
The trophies for saving “Shinsaku Takasugi” & “Soji Okita” should automatically have unlocked from their Bond Missions. You might still need to save “Ryoma Sakamoto”.
Then clean up anything else you have left, such as catching 5 Cheaters at the “Odds and Evens” minigame, and buying 15 Tech Upgrades with the books you found from Treasure Chest collectibles.

One Good Turn Deserves Another Gave your first gift. |
||
Gifts can be bought from some merchants and are sometimes obtained as mission rewards. You’ll get plenty of them from general game progression while working on other trophies.
There are two ways you can give gifts: at the Longhouse (unlocked in Chapter 1) use the “Talk” Menu to speak to an ally, then you get the option to give a gift. The trophy unlocks after leaving the Talk Menu. The second method is to talk to allies in the open world, they are usually found at their faction bases, then you can give a gift directly without doing it at the Longhouse. |
||
Veiled Vow Started your first romantic relationship. |
||
To get this trophy, you have to reach the maximum Bond level with any Ally. You increase this by taking allies on missions, giving gifts, giving compliments during conversations, and in some cases by gathering collectibles. As soon as you have reached Bond Level 4 and maximized the Favor Level, you can enter into romances. You must then talk to the Ally, either at their open world location or at the Longhouse. Click on the dialogue option “I’ve got Feelings for you” to get the trophy.
The trophy comes almost automatically when you collect all the cats for Usugumo Dayu, as you will have maximized both levels for her after collecting all cats. |
||
Fateful Encounter Achieved your first Lv.4 Personal Bond. |
||
For this you must reach Bond Level 4 with one Ally. This is only possible after the story. During the story you are limited to Bond Level 3. After the story take any maxed Level 3 ally with you on a mission and they will become Level 4 and it will unlock the trophy after the mission. You can replay missions at the Longhouse after the story, by using The Testament of the Soul menu. You increase bond level by taking allies on missions, giving gifts, giving compliments during conversations, and in some cases by gathering collectibles. You can repeat the same mission again and again with the same Ally to keep increasing the Bond Level.
Home Sweet Home Achieved your first Lv.3 Area Bond. |
||
The “Area Bond” is increased by finding Collectibles in an area. While going for all Collectibles in one area you’ll unlock this. Refer to Rise of the Ronin Collectible Guide.
Collector Earned your first Completion Reward. |
||
A “Completion Reward” is earned when finding all Collectibles in an area. Refer to Rise of the Ronin Collectible Guide.
Good to Go Upgraded your armor, weapon and sub-weapon. |
||
For this you must upgrade any one piece of armor (legs, arms, head, body – only 1 of the 4 types needed) + one melee main weapon + one sub-weapon firearm (e.g. Rifle, Bow).
You can do this at Blacksmiths found in most major towns or at the Longhouse. Talk to the Blacksmith and from his inventory select the “Upgrade” menu. You will need resources for this. Weapons require Iron Ore, Armor requires Cotton-Linen Threads. The quickest way to get these materials is from disassembling other weapons and armor at the Blacksmith. You can make a manual save beforehand, disassemble lots of gear, pick the cheapest upgrades, then reload save after popping the trophy to get your materials back. |
||
Transfer of Power Performed your first Bond Transfer. |
||
Go to Longhouse > Housekeeping > Blacksmith > Bond Transfer. Select two items (green or yellow rarity), transfer the ability of one weapon to the other and click “Transfer” on the right side.
Resonance Equipped four or more pieces of equipment with the same set bonus for the first time. |
||
Equip 4 armor pieces with the same set bonus. The “set bonus” is displayed as golden text on armor description box. Not all armor will be part of a set so watch out for this. It’s best to keep all armor pieces that have a golden text in their item description until you have a full set.
You should get at least one full set automatically from story progress, but you still need to equip it. Here’s an example of what set pieces look like in the equipment menu: |
||
Fresh Start Remodeled your longhouse for the first time. |
||
The Longhouse is automatically unlocked during Chapter 1 from story progress. Enter the Longhouse and use the Remodel Menu to place 1 item anywhere. The trophy unlocks when leaving the remodel menu, not immediately.
Traveling Through Time Retried a mission for the first time using the Testament of the Soul. |
||
“Testament of the Soul” is automatically unlocked in Chapter 2. It’s a scroll that lets you replay missions. Simply replay any mission. You can also access the Testament of the Soul at any Longhouse after the story.
Striver’s License Received the highest rank (Master) at the dojo. |
||
To unlock the Chiba Dojo, you have to complete the mission “Those Who Lead”. You then find it in the 2nd Main Region “Edo” > Sub-Region “Kyobashi” > at the named location “Chiba Dojo” (marked on map). Talk to Shusaku Chiba inside the dojo to practice. To get the highest rank (Master) in the dojo, you have to complete a fight as quickly as possible while taking minimal damage to score at least 7,000 points. An easy battle is to play against Naosuke Li, as you can kill him quickly by blocking his attacks and spamming to perform countersparks when he attacks, when his Ki (Stamina) is depleted press again for a critical hit. Make sure you play on Dawn difficulty (Easy) for this, can change it in the Systems Menu > Game Settings > Difficulty = Dawn. Also change your stance to the most effective stance to deal more damage (press and Right Stick to the stance marked with blue arrows pointing up). |
||
Horseback Hero Received the highest rank (Master) in horseback archery. |
||
You can find a Horseback Archery course in Main Region 1: “Yokohama” (Chapter 1) > Sub-Region: “Yoshida-Shinden” (in the west of Yokohama map). Talk to the NPC there to start the training. You need to reach 9000 points at this location for Master Rank. This is done by hitting all targets with a bull’s eye while riding the horse, and reaching the finish line as fast as possible. Press to speed up with the horse. There are multiple Horseback Archeries throughout the open world, it doesn’t matter at which one you do the Master Rank. |
||
Winged Warrior Received the highest rank (Master) in gliding training. |
||
An easy Gliding Training is in Main Region 2: “Edo” (Chapter 2) > Sub-Region “Shiba” (in the middle of Edo map). In the north-west edge of this sub-region you will find the Gliding Training next to a Veiled Edge Banner fast travel point. You just need to fly in a straight line through all targets, use the grappling points in mid-air when your stamina runs out. There will be two moving targets (blue) that move from left to right, the other targets are stationary (red) and easy to hit. There are 8 targets total to hit for the master rank. You need 7800 points for Master Rank at this location but hitting all targets will give you 8400. There are multiple Gliding Trainings throughout the open world, it doesn’t matter at which one you do the Master Rank. |
||
Firearm Genius Received the highest rank (Master) in firearms training. |
||
You can find a Firearms Training course in Main Region 1: “Yokohama” (Chapter 1) > Sub-Region: “Yoshida-Shinden” (in the west of Yokohama map). Talk to the NPC there to start the training. You need to reach 7000 points at this location for Master Rank. This is done by hitting all paper targets and metal targets before time runs out, and lining up shots to hit multiple targets with one bullet. There are multiple Firearm Trainings throughout the open world, it doesn’t matter at which one you do the Master Rank. |
||
Cheater Beater Caught 5 cheaters while playing Odds and Evens. |
||
“Odds and Evens” is a minigame that can be played at the Gambling Den, located in Main Region 1: Yokohama (Chapter 1) > Sub-Region: Miyozaki. It’s in the north-west of the main city on the Chapter 1 map. You have to catch a total of 5 cheaters in this minigame. Play until you get a purple screen to compete against a cheater, then pick “Tell on Him”. Repeat this a total of 5 times until you get the trophy. When you tell on the cheater you must defeat the cheaters in combat, then you leave the Gambling Den. You can immediately go back in and talk to the gamemaster to start another game. If you have the speechcraft “Persuade” you can convince him to let you back into the game, or you can bribe him. |
||
Style Guru Mastered three combat styles. |
||
Automatic story-related trophy, cannot be missed. Unlocks in Chapter 3, after Main Quest: The Omi Inn Incident (doesn’t matter if you are on the Anti-Shogunate or Pro-Shogunate path, you always get this main quest regardless). After this quest you unlock the upgraded martial skills and it will pop the trophy after the quest when you receive the quest rewards.
A Jack of One Trade is a Master of All Mastered one of the four stat types. |
||
For this you must buy all skills in one skill tree from the “Stats Menu” (Strength / Dexterity / Charm / Intellect). This requires skill points. The best way to get enough skill points is by gathering all Collectibles in multiple regions. Refer to Rise of the Ronin Collectible Guide.
You will also gain a lot of skill points from finishing all main missions and bond missions. On your way to Platinum you will get enough skill points to max out at least one Stat. You can also play the Odds and Evens minigame at the Gambling Den (see Cheater Beater) and exchange the tokens for skill points, which are only available to a limited extent. |
||
Contraption Creator Conducted Technology Development 15 times. |
||
“Technology Development” is available at Igashichi Lizuka in Main Region 1: Yokohama (Chapter 1) > Sub-Region: Honcho, at one of the Veiled Banners in the main town. You will automatically unlock this after making enough story progress in Chapter 1. You can return there later using the Testament of the Soul (the Scroll unlocked in Chapter 2, can use it after story from Longhouse).
To develop Technology you need Foreign Books, which are obtained from Treasure Chest collectibles: » Rise of the Ronin Collectible Guide |
||
Shadow Stalker Succeeded in carrying out 100 assassinations. |
||
Sneak up behind an enemy with and press to assassinate him. Once we have done this 100 times, we will receive the trophy. This can be farmed by interacting with Veiled Banners to make enemies respawn, defeat the same enemies and interact with the Veiled Banner to respawn them infinitely. The trophy tracker in the trophy list shows how many assassinations you have done.
Keeper of the Peace Defeated 50 fugitives. |
||
Fugitives are a type of Collectible. They are special minibosses found in the open world and count towards region completion. There are 80 total in the game but you only need to defeat any 50 of them, so you can skip 30.
» Rise of the Ronin Collectible Guide |
||
Fancy Meeting You Here Had 50 Chance Encounters. |
||
Chance Encounters are randomly spawning events in the open world. They are indicated by a white banner icon with an exclamation point (!) on it: .
You must complete 50 of these random encounters. While going for all collectible trophies you should come across 50 of them, just be sure to always do them when you see them. You can also get them relatively after the story by riding along main roads. They include different tasks such as enemies you must defeat, tossing jars at an NPC, catching a thief, following a wolf etc. It will usually be obvious what to do when you get there, as you’ll have to interact with something in the immediate surroundings, rescue someone, or follow someone. If an NPC is there make sure you get the encounter reward from him to count it as completed. You can see how many you’ve done on the trophy tracker in the trophy list. |
||
Moneybags Saved 150,000 sen. |
||
For this you must have 150,000 sen (money) at the same time. Don’t spend the money until you get the trophy. If you never spend any money you get enough from just the main missions alone. You also earn money from selling gear, doing Bond Missions. Especially higher-level endgame missions give a lot. 150,000 isn’t that much money in the endgame.
Well-Rounded Ronin Reached Level 55. |
||
To get this trophy, you have to reach player level 55. This isn’t the highest level, it keeps going higher than that. You will automatically reach level 55 while going for the other trophies so don’t worry about this. The main story alone will get you to around level 50. Then the remaining levels will come from completing bond missions, grass roots missions (side quests), collectibles.
Friendly Neighborhood Ronin Completed all Bond Missions. |
||
» Rise of the Ronin All Bond Missions Unlock Requirements
Social Climber Took part in missions with all available allies. |
||
First, you must unlock all 32 allies. Then you must complete any 1 Ronin Mission and bring your ally as a teammate. You can bring up to 2 allies with you on missions. Use the Testament of the Soul to replay missions, available after the story in the Longhouse. The vast majority of Allies will be unlocked from story progress and completing all Bond Missions. Some are tied to making specific choices, all of which can be changed/replayed through the Testament of the Soul, so nothing is missable.
Martial Arts Maniac Defeated enemies using every weapon. |
||
For this trophy we have to make a kill with each of the following 9 weapons: Odachi, Saber, Polearm, Bayonet, Greatsword, Oxtail Blade, Katana, Spear, Paired Swords. You will automatically unlock all weapons as quest rewards or can buy them from merchants throughout the game. When you unlock a new weapon type you haven’t used before, just remember to do one kill with it.
Sightseer Completed all photograph spots. |
||

Cats Over All Collected all cats. |

Solitary Ronin Completed a mission without allies. |
||
Play any one main mission without bringing an ally. Before certain main missions you can select up two AI allies to follow you or search for Co-Op players. Play solo and remove the allies, then finish the mission. An easy opportunity is in Chapter 1 > Main Mission “Curtain Falls, Curtain Rises”. It’s the first main mission where you can bring an ally with you. Unequip the ally, rush to the mission boss, defeat him, the trophy will unlock after that. It won’t work on missions that don’t have the ally select screen.
Life Saver Completed a No-Kill Mission’s objectives. |
||
This can easily be done in Bond Mission “In Search of New Knowledge” by Yukichi Fukuzawa. You have to finish the mission without killing anyone. You will unlock it while playing through all Bond Missions. It can be replayed using the Testament of the Soul (available at Longhouse after story). Unequip your weapons to be unarmed. You can attack opponents using your bare firsts, then they only get knocked unconscious. The trophy then unlocks upon completing the mission.
Tears of a Blue Demon Managed to beat the Blue Demon aboard the Black Ship. |
||
The “Blue Demon” is the endboss in Main Mission 2: Infiltrating the Black Ship. The first time you fight him, he will be very difficult to kill and if you die the story will automatically skip the fight. To make this much easier, do it after the story via Mission Replay. When you finished the story you can go to any Longhouse and select the “Testament of the Soul” Menu to replay this mission. After the story you will be Level 50+ and will defeat the boss in a few hits if playing on Dawn (Easy) difficulty. You have to rush through the mission again, defeat the Matthew Perry boss at the end of the ship, then the Blue Demon boss spawns. |
||
Midnight Crossing Completed an optional ronin mission with the “Midnight” difficulty setting enabled. |
||
“Midnight” difficulty is unlocked upon finishing the main story. You can then interact with any Longhouse > select the “Testament of the Soul” Menu > press to switch to Midnight difficulty > the first time you do this, you’ll have to fast travel back to Yokohama (Chapter 1 Region) > interact with the Longhouse there again and use the Testament of the Soul > press to switch to “Ronin Missions” (main story missions). Now you can replay any story mission on Midnight difficulty. The easiest option is to replay the first main mission “Veiled Edge Village”. It only has two enemies with wooden weapons and one boss at the end. The mission is Level 56, you should be the same level or higher to make it easier. Having bought the stat upgrades for more Medicine Pills is particularly helpful so you can heal more often. An easy strategy against the boss is to run away and wait for your AI teammate to distract her, then land a combo from behind, rinse and repeat. Using charged attacks from a safe distance is also a decent method, or blocking and using Countersparks on the last hit of the combo to stagger the boss. The more you level up, the easier this becomes. If you are having trouble, keep it until you’ve finished all Bond Missions which will level you up a lot. After the story you also unlock the “Breakthrough” stats, you can buy passive stat boosts there to become stronger. |
||
The Greater Opportunity Saved Shinsaku Takasugi’s life. |
||
Reward for completing all of Shinsaku Takasugi’s Bond Missions. He has 4 Bond Missions total: Try Your Luck > Something to Believe In > Where There’s a Will > The Spice of Life.
At the end of his bond mission you will have to fight Shinsaku, then you have to give him medicine to cure his tuberculosis, which will give you a results screen that says he was saved. His first 3 missions unlock gradually from story progress. The 4th mission requires reaching Bond Level 3 with Shinsaku. After doing his first 3 bond missions you should already be Bond Level 2. To quickly increase the bond go talk to Shinsaku at any of his open world locations, for example in Edo (Chapter 2) he’s found in Sub-Region: Azabu > Choshu Clan Villa (green map icon). Exhaust all dialogue options. You can also give him a gift (the ones with a heart icon give the most bond). For the remaining bond progress, use Testament of the Soul to replay main quests and take him with you as an ally. After each quest you play you can also give him another gift if you like, or just keep grinding more missions until you reach Bond 3. Then you get a notification that a new mission is available. What dialogue choices you pick during his missions doesn’t matter, you will always give him the medicine in the end. If he already died during Chapter 3 that’s okay, you can still play his Bond Missions after the story by using the Testament of the Soul to travel back to previous time periods/regions. If you sided with the Anti-Shogunate faction (green) he will die in Chapter 3 but it doesn’t void the trophy, it still unlocks regardless when completing his 4th bond mission, so this isn’t missable. |
||
Farewell, Black Cat Saved Soji Okita’s life. |
||
Reward for completing all of Soji Okita’s Bond Missions. Soji has 2 Bond Missions total: The Supreme Swordsman > A Moment of Brilliance.
For the first mission to be available, you have to pick the Pro-Shogunate faction choices (purple). You can change your faction by using the Testament of the Soul, replay from the Chapter 2 main mission “A Rift in the Roshigumi” > finish “The Ikeda Inn Incident” where Soji is with you as an ally > continue playing until you finished “Fate of the Vanquished” Main Mission. After this Soji’s first bond mission will appear. It’s not available if you pick the Anti-Shogunate decisions (green). |
||
Twilight Fencer Saved Ryoma Sakamoto’s life. |
||
To save Ryoma Sakamoto’s life, you have to finish his 4th Bond Mission “The Ties that Bind” before completing the Main Mission “The Omi Inn Incident” in Chapter 3. If you have completed his first 4 Bond Missions, play through “The Omi Inn Incident” and Ryoma will not die. If Ryoma dies, you can quickly get the trophy by playing his Bond missions up to “The Ties that Bind”. After you have completed the quest, you can replay the main mission “The Omi Inn Incident” in Chapter 3 through Testament of the Soul.
Dive of the Ronin Glided from the elevated deck at Kiyomizudera Temple. |
||
The location for this is in Main Region 3: Kyoto (Chapter 3) > Sub-Region: Higashiyama (south-east corner of the map) > Landmark: Kiyomizudera Temple. It will get marked on the map as a Landmark when going near it. You must go to the balcony where the Veiled Edge Banner fast travel point is, slightly west of the Landmark icon on the map. Next to the Veiled Edge Banner jump off the balcony and glide for a few seconds until the trophy unlocks. It’s the big main building with the wooden scaffolding below it on the side of the mountain, not the tall red-roofed temple. You will visit this location as part of the Chapter 3 main story, then the Kiyomizudera Temple will automatically get marked on the map. |

Is there a new game+ after beating the story
PowerPyx says
Sort of. You unlock Midnight difficulty after the story. You can then replay all missions through Mission Select on the new difficulty. But it’s just mission select, not a “true” NG+.
Lars says
Do the decisions you make about the Story affect the Trophies?
PowerPyx says
The decisions lead to different allies, it doesn’t matter what you pick during the 1st playthrough. You’ll need to replay the opposite decisions anyway (via Mission Select) for the remaining allies.
HaWwMaNn says
Is this easier than other souls like?
PowerPyx says
Not sure I would even classify this as a “soulslike”. It’s significantly easier. There are difficulty settings and you have AI allies with you. If you play on easy all you gotta do is spam to do Countersparks with an Odachi, no skill needed.
Joekido says
Is there a world map?
PowerPyx says
The game is open world, and yes it does have an in-game map.
fuzzb says
I assume that unlocked allies are permanent? I mean like: certain decision in a mission unlocks an ally, but then replaying the mission and choosing the other option, won’t lock the said ally?
PowerPyx says
Yes correct, once an ally has been unlocked they remain in the allies menu permanently, even if you go back to change your decision. You can also still use them on mission replays retroactively (you don’t need to unlock them again to bring them to mission).
Ash says
Can you romance any of your allies or are there particular allies you can’t romance? For example, you couldn’t romance Judy in Cyberpunk unless you were a female-presenting character. Does your character’s gender effect any romances?
PhantomFear94 says
Thanks for this guide, Hinsusta, PowerPyx and co.
How did the team who worked on this roadmap find the game? Reviews would imply this game is a bit of a disappointment.

This is the modern Tenchu game that I have been waiting for.

Thank you for the trophy guide. Just like I expected, this is Team Ninja’s first attempt at a PlayStation Studios open world blockbuster, which is why the Platinum trophy is easy and there are no missable trophies (which I love). Their games usually don’t appeal to me, but this one is the exception because it’s an accessible open world third-person action-adventure game, so I’ll probably play it eventually.

For the Twilight Fencer trophy, Ryoma keeps dying for me, i took the anti shogunate path (Green) from the start, finished all 4 of his bond missions and he keeps dying in “The omni Inn incident” mission, any workaround for this?
Ronin says
This trophy doesn’t unlock for me either. And I’m doing exactly what the guide says.
Ronald says
I got the same problem. Did all 4 bond missions before the main mission and he still dies. Also took the green path.
Gediminas says
Try bond with him. Like love bond.
GraveDiggaUK says
I got the trophy going pro shogunate ( purple) in fact I got all 3 trophies for saving lives in my first play through doing it this way. I completed all missions available (bonds etc.)before carrying on with the story missions when they became available. It worked a treat for me ??
Freyjia says
You need the Twilight Fencer title (Ronin Bond lvl 6) as well
Znarf says
Hi! After the main story you can go free roam to any regions?
PowerPyx says
Yes (as written in the overview) 🙂
Russ says
Questions about the gambling den exploit. What exactly do you mean. I played like 15 hands, memorized what came up, reloaded my save from right before, maxed out and the first roll was completely different.
Do you mean save, max bet, if you win save again, if you lose reload?
PowerPyx says
Don’t think this works anymore on latest patch, I removed it from guide.
KingAmanj says
is Midnight Difficulty Hardest Difficulty setting in the game?
ChaosBoy1975 says
Martial Arts Maniac achievement not working for me, killed multiple enemies with each of the nine weapons and still stuck at 7/9
Snake2410 says
It worked fine for me.
A quick and easy way to get it done once you have all 9 primary weapons is to find a small village with villagers standing around, attack a stationary villager with an attack. It should take them down in one hit.
Then pull out the watch and fast forward to morning. That’ll drop your wanted bar to zero immediately, count towards the kill counter, plus respawn the villager.
Swap to the next weapon and repeat. Got it less than 5 minutes that way.
Easy money!

Hello,
How can we know for sure which partner we used on a mission and what remains to be used?
Thanks

Great guide. One thing I experienced is that random encounters were bugged for me, they didn’t spawn at all for 90% of chapter 1. What helped was saving, closing the game completely and reloading. Might be worth mentioning in the guide.
Richy says
The mission A light in the darkness didn’t unlocked for me so I can’t get A happy memory trophy.
What mission should I replay to unlock it?
GraveDiggaUK says
It appeared after I got the “strange bedfellows” trophy towards the end of chapter 2. It said there was a level 17 bond mission with Taka ( who was already dead) I had to use the testament of souls and travel to Endo and completed her mission and which then popped “the happy memory trophy
Syyko710 says
For the trophy ‘A Jack of One Trade is a Master of All’ can I fully upgrade the “Breakthrough’ skill tree or does it have to be one from the main first 4 trees?
OBP_Mushroom says
Just like to point out for the “social climber” trophy you don’t have to complete the mission with allies for it to count. You can cycle through all the allies at a banner and get the trophy in just a few minutes providing you have everyone unlocked 🙂
Heaven says
You’re a life saver, thanks. I’d have done missions with all these and it would’ve took me a day.
Sucrasniv says
Hello Everyone
Does anybody knows how many missions are in total ? Counting ALL ( side stories, main stories and bond missions ) of missions
Thanks for the help
Jake says
I picked pro shogun and was able to get the Farewell black cat and the great opportunity in one play through. I had level three bond ratings with both Soji and Shinsaku so maybe that helped. The only mission I had to replay was the red demon one. Had to spare him this time. Also for the social climber trophy, you don’t need to finish the mission with the ally, only start it. Start a mission, then close it and you still get credit for it. Thought I’d share my experience! Loved the game. Thanks for the guide
Delken says
Hey all. So, it may not be perfect but a way to cheese the gambling is just make a manual save right before trying, bet the max, and if you win, quit gambling, save, and repeat. If you lose, you can either quit to menu and manually load your save you made, or if you close application (at least on PS5) as it says you lose, you can just click continue and load back into the manual save that way. Only tried the second method once, but it worked 100% of that one time. The manual load is much more fool proof of a way to do it.
Snake2410 says
You can make a mission on Midnight difficulty really easy by using paired swords, mastering Niten Ichi-Ryu style with them, and maxing the affliction skills in intelligence. Then wearing the gear set that enhances afflictions and using a poison consumable you spam the Unearthly Flame move (hold the button instead of just pressing it) that you unlock for mastery to obliterate enemies easily. The third affliction you get by hitting with the rest just melts them.
Snake2410 says
This has now been patched so that it doesn’t proc the affliction as fast anymore.
masofdas says
Done ties that bond mission before The Omni Inn Mission, and that character still died

Can anyone advise if its best to sell or disassemble your gear? Not sure what real value currency has with so many gear drops ?
JB says
I had auto sell on until I got the 150,000 Sen trophy and then switched to auto disassemble for upgrade materials ?
Cg1138 says
Fateful Encounter can be earned before completing the story. I earned it in chapter 1. When you first encounter the horseback archery training, completing it creates a bond with that character. Continuing to do the training and earning Master rank will increase your bond by the max of 3 symbols. Got the trophy in like 20 minutes.
JB says
I have 98% of trophies only the flipping Jack of all trades left, anybody got any quick tips for strength points as im closest to fully doing that. Rare skill points seem few and far between now..
InnesJack says
I had the same issue where even after 100% completion i was still around 19 rare skill points shirt (Intellect for me). Go into your inventory and consume any Treatises of Strength books that you will have already collected through out the game. If you are still missing points then you can purchase from vendors as below:
Treatises of Strength can be purchased from the Official at the Yokohama Town Hall.
Treatises of Intellect can be purchased from the Photograph Studio in Yokohama.
Treatises on Charm can be purchased from Usugumo Dayu in the Miyozaki’s Pleasure District.
Hope this helps as this is how i eventually got the trophy
Belthizor says
Fateful Encounter trophy CAN be achieved before completing the story. I’m still in chapter one and have achieved lv 4 Bond with the inventor dude and the trophy popped for me
