Sekiro Shadows Die Twice has 4 different endings you can unlock. This guide explains how to get all Sekiro Endings. Seeing every ending will reward you different trophies and achievements, so if you want to platinum the game you will have to get all of them.
Important Notice: The fastest way to achieve the platinum trophy or 1000 Gamerscore is with 2 playthroughs. Here’s how:
- After defeating “Corrupted Monk” and “Guardian Ape” (both unmissable main bosses), return to Ashina Castle. On the tower roof talk to Great Shinobi Owl and pick his 2nd dialogue “Break the Iron Code, Stay loyal to Kuro”. Then beat Great Shinobi Owl
- Eavesdrop for Purification Ending and kill the Owl in Hirata Estate to receive Aromatic Flower
- Finish all steps needed for Return ending BEFORE defeating the Divine Dragon in Fountainhead Palace
- Secure your save game and get all 3 endings while reloading your save game for each one (see below how to back up save games). You can still back up the save after beating Isshin the Sword Saint and choose between the 3 endings this way – to choose the endings you will have to decide what you give to Kuro who is lying on the ground. Dragon Tears for Immortal Severance, Divine Dragon’s Tears + Frozen Tears for Return, Divine Dragon’s Tears + Aromatic Flower for Purification.
- Go into New Game+ and finish the game with Shura ending BUT before getting the Shura Ending + All Bosses trophy secure your save BEFORE the talk with Owl. Once you have the last ending and the bosses done reload your save BEFORE owl and fight him instead. You want to do this because you want to grab all the Lapis Lazuli you are still needing from Fountainhead and you can’t visit the location if you chose to obey Owl.
This way you will get all 4 endings and will beat all bosses on one savefile as well.
PS4 Save Game Backup: Go to PS4 Settings > Application Saved Data Management > Copy to USB or PS+ Cloud (if you use PS+ Cloud make sure you disable auto-uploads for Sekiro or else it will overwrite your backup save automatically). If you like to keep multiple backups from different points in the game (e.g. before encountering Owl on Tower Roof), you can copy the PS4 folder from USB flash drive to a computer, this way you can have unlimited save game backups and copy them back as needed.
Xbox One Save Game Backup: Exit the Game (exiting the game overwrites cloud save!) > as soon as ending achievement pops, press Home-Button > scroll down to Sekiro Shadows Die Twice > press Options > Manage Game > Saved Data > click Gamertag > Delete Saved Data > Delete from Console > if it still shows the save, delete it again until it’s gone > press Home-Button and restart the game > it will now sync / download your save from cloud! If in doubt about any step please test it on a secondary dummy account first where you don’t risk losing any progress.
Ending 1 – Shura
Shura is the fastest possible ending in Sekiro. After defeating Guardian Ape in Sunken Valley and the purple glowing Corrupted Monk in Ashina Depths you will have to head back to Ashina Castle where Great Shinobi Owl awaits you at the rooftop. After talking to him you will have the choice to either betray Kuro or stay loyal to Kuro. Choose the first dialogue choice that lets you betray Kuro “Obey the Iron Code, forsake Kuro”.
This triggers two boss fights and you will receive the Shura Ending.
This also unlocks the Shura trophy or achievement.
Ending 2 – Purification
IMPORTANT NOTE: Finish Steps 1-8 (getting Bell from Emma) BEFORE defeating Divine Dragon in Fountainhead Palace or you will lock yourself out of this ending! Steps 9-10 (killing Owl Father) can still be done AFTER defeating the Divine Dragon up until defeating the Endboss. This way you can max out all your stats first before taking on the Owl Father, to make this an easier fight.
Just as the first ending you will have to reach the rooftop with the Great Shinobi Owl. This time we’ll take the opposite dialogue choice to stay loyal to Kuro. Follow these steps to unlock the Purification Ending:
- When talking to Owl on the tower roof of Ashina Castle you must pick the 2nd dialogue “Break the Iron Code, stay loyal to Kuro”. Meeting Owl is an unmissable part of the story after having defeated Corrupted Monk and Guardian Ape.
- After defeating Owl eavesdrop on Kuro from behind a corner in his room (if it doesn’t let you, exhaust all dialogues with Kuro first and rest at idol, then retry)
- Rest and head upstairs to talk to Emma about Kuro, pick her 1st dialogue “I agree. Kuro cannot be allowed to die.”
- Rest and talk to Emma again
- Head to Old Grave Idol, go left immediately to the graves and talk to Emma again
- Head to Dilapidated Temple (Sculptor) and eavesdrop on Emma and the Sculptor from behind the building
- Confront Emma (still at Dilapidated Temple) and exhaust all dialogues to receive “Father’s Bell Charm” from her
- Use the bell at the Buddha statue that brought you to Hirata Estate earlier in the game (the statue is inside the Sculptor’s House at Dilapidated Temple, to the left of where Emma is standing). This will teleport you to a different version of Hirata Estate with new bosses.
- Beat Owl in Hirata Estate, he drops an Aromatic Flower (aka Everblossum). You find Owl at Hirata Audience Chamber idol, in the same room Lady Butterfly main boss was in.
- Follow the story progress up until the final boss fight against Isshin the Sword Saint. After beating him choose to give Kuro Divine Dragon’s Tears + Everblossum. You should back up your save game after defeating the Sword Saint endboss so you can reload it for the other endings.
This unlocks the Purification trophy or achievement.
Ending 3 – Immortal Severance
Just as the 2nd ending you will have to reach the rooftop with the Owl. Stay loyal to Kuro and defeat Owl instead, follow the story up until the end and give Kuro only the Dragon’s Tears.
This unlocks the Immortal Severance trophy or achievement.
Ending 4 – Return
IMPORTANT NOTE: Finish all the steps BEFORE defeating Divine Dragon in Fountainhead Palace or you will lock yourself out of this ending!
First of all, it’s worth noting that the steps for this ending can be done in different orders. The below is the recommended path that is 100% confirmed to work (I tested this 3 times and it worked every time). If you already did some steps unintentionally that won’t void anything, in that case you can simply skip the steps you already did.
Step 1: Just like the “Purification” & “Immortal Severance” endings you will have to reach the rooftop with Great Shinobi Owl in Ashina Castle. You get there automatically after having finished the “Corrupted Monk” in Ashina Depths and “Guardian Ape” in Sunken Valley. It’s an unmissable story encounter. When talking to Owl pick his 2nd dialogue “Break the Iron Code, Stay Loyal to Kuro”. Then kill Great Shinobi Owl.
Step 2: The second step for the ending is the Divine Child in Inner Sanctum. Accept rice from her and get rid of it 3 times by eating it from the inventory. After each rice you must fast travel away (Dilapidated Temple works) and back to Inner Sanctum so she gives you the next Rice. Do this until you have received 3 rice total. If you already got a Rice from her earlier in the story you must eat it first or else she won’t give you any more rice.
Step 3: After she gave you Rice 3 times she will get sick and ask for Persimmon. You can buy Persimmon from the merchant at Shugendo idol (Senpou Temple, Mt. Kongo). From the idol you need to drop down the left and walk across some wooden boards by the cliffside to find the merchant at the end of the path.
Step 4: Feed the Persimmon to the Divine Child at Inner Sanctum to heal her. Then she gives you “Rice for Kuro”.
Step 5: Give the “Rice for Kuro” to the Divine Heir Kuro. He’s in “Kuro’s Room” in Ashina Castle. He’ll say “I’ll make something nice for you. You’ll have to wait and see”.
Step 6: Fast travel away (e.g. Dilapidated Temple) and return to Kuro. He gives you “Sweet Rice Ball”.
Step 7: Consume the “Sweet Rice Ball” that you got from Kuro (inventory item).
Step 8: Talk to Divine Child at Inner Sanctum again. She’ll ask “Did you give the rice to the Divine Heir?” and you’ll tell her of the Sweet Rice he made and that you ate it.
Step 9: Get key item “Holy Chapter: Infested” and give it to Divine Child. This item is found underwater in the pond by Temple Grounds idol (Senpou Temple, Mt. Kongo). It’s the pond where two treasure carp are swimming. You must dive down to find this item at the bottom of the pond. You might already have it though. Earlier in the story before defeating Genichiro Ashina it could be obtained from a priest sitting by the Main Hall idol of Senpou Temple. So if it’s not in the pond you either have it in your inventory or gave it to the Divine Child already. If you gave it to her already you can skip this step.
Step 10: After giving “Holy Chapter: Infested” to Divine Child, fast travel back and forth until she’s gone from Inner Sanctum. You must now talk to her in the “Halls of Illusion”, the area where you fought the Folding Screen Monkeys main boss. You can enter the rift (blue beam) via the Inner Sanctum to be teleported back to this area. The Divine Child is sitting straight in front of where you spawn. Exhaust all dialogues with her. She’ll tell you of a “Reverence confined within a narrow cave”, which is a priest that died and holds a book we need to get, see next step.
Step 11: We must now find the key item “Holy Chapter Dragon’s Return”. Fast travel to Main Hall idol in Senpou Temple region. Exit the Hall through the left side and there will be a cave entrance. Follow the cave until you drop down the first time. Immediately turn around and crouch under a tight space. On the other end (near cave exit) you reach a dead monk who has the golden-glowing item pickup “Holy Chapter: Dragon’s Return”. Bring this book back to the Divine Child! She’ll then request you to find 2 “Serpent Persimmons” (actually called “Serpent Viscera” in item menu) which are our next two steps.
Step 12: Get “Fresh Serpent Viscera”. Head to the first idol in Senpou Temple that’s called “Senpou Temple, Mt. Kongo”. From the idol, exit the room and drop down the right side cliffs. There you will see a mechanism for a kite and a small enemy next to it. Use Puppeteer Ninjutsu on this small guy and he will operate the kite for you. Follow the main path until you can grapple to the kite and it will transport you to a new area where you must drop and grapple tree branches as you’re falling. Then you find the “Sunken Valley Cavern” idol. After it you will come to a long wooden beam and the serpent below it. Jump down on the serpent’s head and perform a mid-air execution to kill it. Fresh Serpent Viscera is yours.
Step 13: Get “Dried Serpent Viscera”. For the dried one head to the idol before the Guardian Ape boss fight called “Bodhisattva Valley”. Instead of going in the direction of the Ape boss, turn around and go to the very bottom of the area where some green poison water is. You will reach a merchant and behind him a cave with the Giant Serpent in it. Follow the cave path until you can see the serpent’s head. Drop down on the left side and use Puppeteer Ninjutsu on the monkey and it will distract the snake for you. Now you can grapple to where the serpent’s head was and go through in the left room to pick up the “Dried Serpent Viscera”.
Step 14: Deliver the two Serpent Viscera to Divine Child at Inner Sanctum.
Step 15: Travel away and back to Inner Sanctum. The door will be closed. Eavesdrop on the door to hear the child eating the Viscera.
Step 16: Travel to Kuro’s Room. Exhaust all dialogues with Kuro. He wants you to use the incense burner in his room, then cuts himself with the mortal blade. Then he tells you of the Fountainhead Palace. His last dialogue is “I believe the path leading to the Fountainhead Palace will open before you if you enter the shrine within the cave”. You might already have exhausted his dialogues earlier, which is fine if you did, in that case skip to next step.
Step 17: Fast travel back to the Inner Sanctum. The door should now be unlocked (if not travel to Dilapidated Temple and rest at idol). Talk to the Divine Child once more and she gives you the key item “Frozen Tears”. That’s the stuff we need for this ending! Her questline is done now.
Step 18: Use the Frozen Tears on Kuro after defeating the final boss in the game. After defeating the boss it’s mandatory to talk to Kuro one last time (unmissable) and it lets you pick between different items. Each item that you can give to Kuro here triggers 1 of 3 different endings. For this one you must pick the dialogue option “Give Dragon Tears and Frozen Tears”. You should back up your save game after defeating the Sword Saint endboss (before giving Kuro the items) so you can reload it for the other endings.
Note: If a sequence with the Divine Child won’t trigger try to rest at an Idol, feeding Rice to Kuro and coming back, giving her Persimmon, or simply progressing the story a bit further. It’s also possible you have skipped one of the steps or haven’t done them in order thus voiding the progression of the quest, so make sure you got all the listed key items and gave them to her.
This unlocks the Dragon’s Homecoming trophy or achievement. This is basically the Sekiro Secret Ending as it has the most steps to it and is the trickiest to get.
That’s all the Sekiro Shadows Die Twice Endings and how to unlock them, enjoy!
Brogey says
Where is the scroll you mentioned that you have to give to her?
DK says
pond at the Temple Grounds Idol in Senpou ;)
Brogey says
All I found was prayer beads, are you sure that’s the right pond? Or did I miss the scroll?
aMiracleeeee says
Mine is missing aswell. Didnt find any scroll down there, however at the moment I can feed fruits to Divine child and she gave me rice for kid, but I cant use it because I triggered last boss fight. Do you think because of that scroll is missing or I am missing something? I got serpet fruits aswell tho.
LordMonday says
You have to kill corrupted monk for the Mibu breathing technique to be able to dive underwater, I was confused about this too, and just killed her for it.
Suihong Lau says
if u cant find the book in the pond chances are u already have it because u fininshed senpou temple early. U should receive the book from the monk near main hall idol if u do senpou temple early
aMiracleeeee says
Ye if you are talking about the scroll which is telling about corrupted monks and their “immortality” then youre right, you got it if you come early to Temple Main hall. I guess then you just need to feed rice to Kuro and thats where I got stucked because I triggered last boss fight. Will try it nex playthrough anyway.
Fiiisch100 says
It is the cave you go through to get the temple arts. Just go that way and at the end of the cave there’s the monk
DK says
All endings now confirmed at tested, have fun 🙂
Rei says
Is there any exclusive bosses in any of the endings? Or can you, by theory, get all the endings within the same first playthrough with save managing and get the Defeat All Bosses trophy?
PowerPyx says
There are exclusive bosses to the different endings. Looks like we’ll need to do NG+ / NG++ for the platinum to get All Bosses trophy. Will take a few more days to confirm.
Vincent Chee says
Hey PowerPxy. Do I have to replay all over again in order to unlock all the ending?
Amin Al Maksud says
Can all 4 of them be achieved by uploading save? What about the defeat all bosses trophy? Which ending (s) do I need to get to be able to kill all bosses.
Fiiisch100 says
Yes you can achieve them with one playthrough with save data, but for the platinum you will need at least 2 playthroughs
Bob says
I followed the steps exactly for the Xbox one and it did not work as intended. I saved the game before the final interaction to trigger the cutscene. When the achievment popped, I exited the game from dashboard, deleted my saved data on my console twice, and then when I loaded it back up I was not at my previous save point. It put me after the cutscene, therefore I was not able to get additional endings.
Craig N says
Yeah, I have given up on using the reload technique for achievements on the Xbox. On Vampyr, my game crashed while I was in the middle of working on another achievement that was contrary to my main playthru (no killing playthru while getting an achievement for killing people). Then it reloaded right where I crashed, ruining my whole playthru. Vampyr has the exact same loading system as this game.
It works better on PS4 as you can put the save on a flash drive or upload it to the cloud.
bluecapgoldgirl says
Will you be able to start from a certain point after getting an ending, or will you need to replay the entire game like bloodbourne and dark souls?
Sunny says
Should I reload checkpoints and use ps plus save to get multiple endings or should I go with new game plus. As there are items you will require to upgrade everything. Is it possible to get platinum in one play through?
Calvin says
You can’t platinum in one playthrough, the problem is the all boss trophy. Depending on whether you go for Shura ending, the end bosses are different, and the trophy requires you to beat all bosses in one save file. Plus it’s impossible to acquire enough material in one playthrough to unlock all tools upgrade trophy
Ian Leckie says
I can’t find the scroll for her
Ian Leckie says
I checked the pond but couldn’t find it.
matt says
So i gave her the scroll and she hasn’t gone to the hall of illusions yet. What am i doing incorrectly.
yeeter boi says
same issue here :P
JoJo says
so 4 you need playthroughs in order to get all the bosses trophies?
BearNg says
The 4h ending “Return”, don’t get Dragon Tears, Stone, Flower… yet !
The first time you met Divine Child, she gave you Mortal Blade and Rice, just eat it then rest, come back to Divine Child and ask for more. After 3 times or so she’ll be exhausted and ask for persimmon to eat. Give it to her n she’ll give you “rice for kuro”. Back to Kuro, give it to him and rest a few times. After that he’ll give you sticky rice balls. Back to Divine Child with the Scroll “holy chapter: infested”.
sorry for my bad english, I found this on Reddit/r/Sekiro, I follow Powerpyx’s Guide and end up with Immortal Severance ending because it was too late, Kuro’s already gone to the secret passage.
Ambrose says
Thanks a lot bro
Knox says
Wait i think i gave scroll already
kimjongon says
Can you get both the all ending trophy and all bosses trophy in 1st playthrough?
DK says
With save-scumming you could get the endings, not sure about the bosses though. Still workign on the confirmations for guide, game’s still fresh but we’re working on it 24/7 🙂
Doma says
so by the looks of it there are no missable trophies especially related to dragonrot?
Allalinor says
Just FYI if you get the normal Dragon Tears before giving Kuro his rice you lock yourself out if the Return Ending since the sequence with the Divine Child won’t trigger.
DeathSlayer says
Ending 2 – Purification
Once you beat the owl , you get an Aromatic Flower. The trophy did not appear. I believe there are more steps that needs to be elaborated.
Do i need to use this as an ingredient to burn the incense? I burned the incense even before getting this item. Think i am locked from Ending 2 damn it.
Nppb says
The Divine Child is in the illusion, and tells me the priest in not far from there in a narrow cave? She won’t return to the Inner Sanctum and I have no clue where this cave should be, any ideas?
patrik_trif says
I am in the same situation. The divine child is in the illusion and she not asking me the fruits. I have to go to the priest before this question?
Nick says
PowerPyx, i’m trying to get “Purification” ending and although i beat owl on the rooftop (where you fight genichiro) emma is in the room beneath with kuro. She doesn’t move to ishin’s place so i can eavesdrop with them. Any ideas?
WhiteMale says
Happened to me as well. She’s there before fighting Owl.
seven says
That’s what I’m trying to figure out. Maybe we were supposed to eavesdrop after the thunder guy and he put Owl by mistake.
DK says
No, there is no mistake. That is exactly the order of steps I did. Emma was at Isshin’s place even though i saw her next to Kuro earlier.
Brad says
I’ve got the same issue. Did you find a way to get her to move afterwards?
I read on yt that you’re supposed to eavesdrop before owl or immediately after (before sitting at the idol)
Would suck if that’s the case cos none of the guides anywhere say that.
Does owl 1 and owl 2 count as 2 different bosses for the Kill all bosses trophy?
Sunny says
You have to get to the room immediately after killing owl don’t go to idol. Though you can still try burning incense and see if the cutscene with Ema props.
James says
Dk im also having same issue shes not at the place shes suppose to be.
MisionKing says
What’s the name of the scroll because I went to the pond and it isn’t there
Leaver says
Where is the cave the divine child talks about I cannot find it
DK says
Round around the corner of the Main Hall Idol
Linkdevivo says
Hey Powerpyx! This is a great start but we need more info to go on! Can you get more than one ending in a playthrough? Which should we do first? Which should we keep as our main ending to go into NG+?
clauscj says
Will be waiting for confirmation about can we get all endings in 1 playthrough or have to go to NG+. And what’s the difference in NG+ above too
itsbosco1025 says
is it possible to do all endings except for shura in one save ?If no,can i carry the frozen dragon tear and the flower to new game +?
James says
Does new game+ scale? If it does that would suck. Gunna have to get these in on play through.
Also after beating the castle boss, and you talk to kuro, does it matter what choice you choose? Loyal, or iron code?
James says
Is the choice you make with kuro, after the boss fight in the castle, affect which ending you get?
sebay says
Can’t talk with Emma after Eavesdroped Kuro.
I Eavesdroped Kuro behind the corner (there isn’t such option more).
Head upstairs and taked a rest. But Emma still in Kuro’s room. She should be upstairs (according to video on youtube).
Coud you please tell me, what am i doing wrong?
KILLaH2030 says
the same with me she doesn’t move upstairs and i evesdrop twice on kuro but emma still downstairs with him what is wrong?
KILLaH2030 says
i have found a solution finally and it worked, you must eavesdroped kuro first time then rest then eavesdroped him again and then talk to him to give you Immortal Severance Scrap then eavesdroped him for the third time and he will say he must do what must done then go upstairs and rest then you gonna find emma there and talk to her like in the video and continue, that’s it for Emma to move upstairs.
Deanbeansean says
Hi powerpyx
If i select the ending that i kill emma and isshin first then i download my save file and go for other endings . Will it unlock for me all endings in one playthrough or i need to start a new one?? Please explain more.
PowerPyx says
Hi, yes your way will work. You need to make a backup before talking to Owl in Ashina Castle, get Shura ending, copy back your save. Then do the 3 endings in the order described at the top of the guide. This way you could get 4 endings in one run efficiently. But I think for all bosses trophy we need to replay on NG+ for other bosses, I’m currently confirming that.
Renato says
Do the first Genichiro (the ”tutorial”) count as a Boss to the trophy?
PowerPyx says
No, whether you defeat him or not doesn’t matter, it won’t give an ending.
Renato says
Thank you! I’m trying to decide what will be the Platinum ”photo”. I want it to be in a boss battle.
Yhannos says
Anyway to back up save and go for the different endings on Xbox?
pkstoxic says
can you post a pic of the owl that we need to save before talking to?
ace 1 says
i gave her the scroll but she wont move to illusion hall for me to talk :/ so i can give her my serpent fruits
Lee says
Travel back and forward from idols and she should move try talking to her as well to exhauast her dialogue options that could help also
WildFire says
Can you confirm if we can make a new backup save point after defeating owl?
I have done the shura ending and reloaded my save to just after when I killed Vilehand & before going upto talk to owl & decide.
So I’ve already got the first ending trophy (although I’m aware Ill need to do it again in NG+ for the bosses, that’s fine) and now I am going to do the other 3 endings.
But it seems that the latter 3 endings all require you to defeat Owl, therefore surely I can make a new saveafter killing him once, so I don’t have to re-do the fight 3 times.
Gediminas says
“Beat Owl
Eavesdrop for Purification Ending, but after beating 2nd owl do not trigger the ending yet
Continue the steps for Return Ending
Secure your savefile and get all 3 endings while reloading your savefile for each one (you won’t trigger ending after beating Saint Sword neither, you can even save after beating him and choose between the other 2 endings this way)”
first question : how not to trigger ending yer?
second question : you write that for immortal severance, you can’t go to hirata estate, but how you gonna fight 2nd owl? he is in hirata estate :D
third question : how you can trigger or don’t the endings?
i am ready to go to Ashina depth, and after that i will go for the endings. so, it would be nice to know 🙂
i am not sure how ending is working, but i need to choose on of the last 3 endings to be able to get a trophy Man Without Equal?
Alan says
What exact ending should we do last for NGplus so it saves all the bosses in its file? Ive just beaten monk and ape and made a backup just incase. Is the Return ending we are carrying over and then NG plus is on Shura?
2bNs says
Am I right that you can do all the necessary steps for the 3 “good” endings as mentioned above, save the game after final boss fight and then trigger all three by using different dialogue options? so you need only one save file for three endings?
fuzzb says
Hi, can we get a bit more info on the 2 playthrough platinum described at top? So I beat Owl, follow all the steps and go beat him at Hirata Estate again. Then what I need to do to end and not end it? Then I leave Hirata and secure the frozen dragon tears for Return. Then in front of the secret passage I secure my savefile, go finish Purification (if it’s something I needed to do in Hirata Estate), reload my save, go fight Isshin, after beating him secure my save again. Then talk to the laying Kuro and have a choice to give him frozen dragon tears and not for both endings?
Sebbo says
Can’t eavesdrop on Emma and Isshin, because she‘s sitting at the sculptor place, but in step 2 I need to talk to her first at Isshins place… and idea how to get her to Isshin?
DK says
All the infos in the guide are 100% complete and correct now. I also added a full guide on how to get the plat in 2 playthroughs and when to secure the save! With those infos you can’t do anything wrong.
EDIT: I just double and triple checked the stuff i have written again while guiding a buddy who was playing the game for the first time on headset. With my guidance he was able to receive all the stuff needed for Purification end Return. So if it isn’t work for you with this guide, then i am sorry to say it: you are doing something wrong.
The guide has infos on how to do it and WHEN to do it.
Gediminas says
there is no problem to do other staff before ape and monk are died and after Owl fight? for exp to get old and fresh fruits? and ask rice for Divine child and give him book? just checking? or better to be safe and do it everything after Owl fight?
Doctor says
Just wondering about the all skills trophy for that 2 run platinium guide, should they all be maxed out before fighting Ishinn at castle because you get 1 skill from him.
Lymus says
That skill doesn’t seem to count, i grinded all skills out in NG (before going into NG+) with the Return ending (i got the conditions for endings 2-4).
Pedro94 says
I have Kuro´s rice, but have passed the part where you should give it to him, so now i can´t do that ending?
is there any other way I can make the Inner Sanctum lady go to the ilussion, so I can talk to her and keep return´s ending path?
or does someone have a save-file uploaded for that purpose?
Thanks. Good guide anyway!
ZheCarp says
Hi.
I was wondering something:
SPOILER BELOW
When going for the Return ending, could one still go all the way into the Purification ending, grab the 2 last prayer beads (maybe even the Boss memory) and just not talk to Emma afterwards anymore? So that you then finish the Return ending?
If anyone knows, I’d like to know ^^
Cheers and keep up the quality work, PowerPyx!
SelfInsertion says
You can get all four endings in one playthrough if you uploaded your save before Owl, get the “Shura” Ending, then go on with the other 3 in one go (provided you complete all the requirements). You can even beat all the bosses that give the trophies as well.
PowerPyx says
If you copy back the save it overwrites all the bosses you’ve beaten with the other ending, so that won’t work to get the trophy for beating all bosses.
JL says
Hey PowerPyx
By Everblossom do you mean the Aromatic Flower? That’s the name of what I received from Owl at the Hirata Estate not Everblossom.
Shalade Kandara says
For purification ending you have to burn incense THEN eavesdrop on Kuro and rest, this makes Emma move to the roof and badly need to be included in the guide. It not being included is very confusing and probably why most people are having an issue with her just being in the room with Kuro.
DK says
I mentioned interacting with all the Kuro dialogues and I thought it was clear, that you have to interact with the burner as well, added it in to stop confusion.
Daniel says
Just so that I’m not confused, you can follow the above guide for the three endings in one playthrough, and upload your save to the cloud just before the Saint boss, then when you redownload the save all you have to do is re-fight the boss and give a different item to Kuro? So the endings are just based off whichever item you give to him?
Gediminas says
he wrote black on white, how can you understand it wrong? :D
Quote:
“you won’t trigger ending after beating Saint Sword neither, you can even save after beating him and choose between the 3 endings this way”
DK says
Thank you. You are giving me hope, that some people still read everything before complaining :D
Jokes aside, I was trying to be as exact as I can, but some people still need more and more info. At some point I am expecting to have to write about how many steps you have to run to the left when going from one spot to the next one :D
Gediminas says
it is possible to ignore Hirata estate Owl til the end or at least til later? or should i defeat him before new area? it’s getting boring, he is basically two shot me.
i got frozen tears and purification area already, i can advance to new area, but i am not sure if i can before i defeat him.
Sekereriko says
Wondering about this too
Shalade Kandara says
Yes you can wait. I killed Owl, then Hatred Demon then final boss after doing everything else.
Gediminas says
i took the challenge and defeated him first.
just two bosses left 🙂
Matt Beesley says
What do you mean by secure your save?
PowerPyx says
Make a backup of your savefile. PS4 Settings > Application Saved Data Management > Copy to USB device or PS+ Cloud (if using PS+ make sure you disable automatic uploads or else it will overwrite it automatically).
FrescaLite says
By “Everblossom” do you mean “Aromatic Flower” and by “Dragon’s Tears” do you mean “Dragon’s Blood Droplet”? If not, I’m really confused. Where do you get “Dragon’s Tears” and where do you get “Everblossom”?
DK says
Yes for the Everblossom, Everblossom is just another name for Aromatic Flower mentioned by the game itself. And Divine Dragon’s Tears are unlocked by beating… Divine Dragon lol
I didn’t mention where to get those since you can’t miss them, except when going for Shura Ending.
DK says
I would have never expected that calling the Aromatic Flower Everblossom will confuse that many people, since the story calls it Everblossom as well.
Aromatic Flower = Everblossom, changed it in the guide.
Guess I was the only one paying attention throughout the story xD

I mean I asked because I wanted to really make sure that they were one and the same. The item description for the Aromatic Flower said it contained Everblossom flowers so I knew that they had to be the same thing. But it’s kinda like with a maths exam how you know the answer to 1+1 is 2 but you type it in the calculator anyway. :P I know what I got is the Everblossom the guide is referring to but can’t hurt to clarify, better safe than sorry especially with games like this that just auto saves constantly.

Whens the cutoff for beating owl in estate? Can i beat everything except devine dragon then face him?
Singoku says
can’t I just get all the endings done with one walkthrough, I could use the save file before I meet owl at the top of ashina castle and obey the iron code and get the Ashura ending then I download the save file and stay loyal to kuro and fight owl then I save file at this moment and do the rest of the ending first Immortal severance then Return and for the last time I do the purification ending and complete the rest of the trophy. Please correct me if I got something wrong.
Gamerpro59 says
Just wanted to let you know that you can get frozen tears even after Divine Dragon fight I didnt go to Halls of illusion until after Demon Of Hatred fight and still had to get the scroll from the cave but it still allowed me to get the tears before final fight. You will not be locked out of it
itsbosco1025 says
why will i need lapis at the end ?
PowerPyx says
To max out all Prosthetic Tools (if you’re going for 100% completion / platinum trophy / 1000 Gamerscore).
PowerPyx says
Made several updates:
– How to back up save games (some were confused about this)
– For “Ending 4 – Return” I broke it down into smaller steps to fit the upcoming video guide. The video guides for all endings are coming soon (trying to finish them tomorrow).
Andrew says
is it possible to download save files to usb flash just before speaking to Kuro in step 18 ? just after beating final boss ? so i wouldn`t need to beat him again to have another ending ?
PowerPyx says
Yes, you can still make a backup AFTER defeating the endboss. So just BEFORE giving Kuro the Frozen Tears, exactly like you described it. That is the best way. I’m also gonna add a note to Step 18 with this info, thanks for asking!
Gediminas says
thanks you people with the game. i was in stress at first, but this guide is very good, just do it as it says and don’t overthinking it 🙂
Biffoerman says
I killed the Divine Dragon, however I had already done everything up towards, and including, step 7 (giving Kuro the bag of rice). I could still complete the “Return” ending.
Jack says
Does anyone know if this is true for the purification ending too? I’m having trouble with the Hirata Estate Owl and would like to fully upgrade vitality but don’t want to mess the ending up by killing the Divine Dragon first.
Lee says

Hello trophy master!
It is possible platinum the game on xbox one with only 2 playthroughs instead of 4?
The method that you have explained is wrong becouse of autosave.
Even if exiting the game, the New autosave overwrites the old save both in the cloud and in the console!(100 % confirmed)
So there is a possibility on xbox one to avoid four playthroughs to get 1000 gamerscore?
Thank you for your kindness and sorry for my bad english!
PowerPyx says
If they changed the save system on XB1 then I have no idea. This used to work with some games a while back.
Maybe try disconnecting from internet as you leave the game so it can’t auto-upload the save? Then quickly go online to download the old save? Would be my only idea, please let me know if that works.
gilbertans12 says
I tried this other method disconnecting from internet with sekiro and other game when i was about to unlock an achievement but I don’t know for what crazy reason the achievement no longer popped offline. Although later you came back online the achievement doesn’t pop.
If anyone knows a method to avoid in this game( but also in all games) 4 run I will never stop thanking him.
In any case thanks so much powerpyx for your incredible work with trophies. You are my contact person to get it in the entire web!
PowerPyx says
The achievements only unlock while you’re connected to online services. So you need to disconnect from the internet (just turn off router) AFTER the achievement has popped. Then it won’t auto-upload your save when leaving the game and if you download it quick enough after reconnecting it should give you the save before ending back. It’s my understanding that it only uploads the save when exiting the game, not while playing it. That’s my theory anyway. Still need someone to confirm if it worked with the disconnect. I’ll try to test it some more on XB1 over the next days.
gilbertans12 says
I perfectly understand what did you say but auto-save occurs ALSO when you play the game both in important moment of the game and every 30/40 second! So if you should back up save before isshin ( for example), the game overwrites your save at least 3 TIME and you lost everything you’ve done. So connecting or disconnecting becomes Useless.
Maybe i wrong something but i noticed this. Please let me know if you find any way and I’ll do the same thing.
Thank you very much!

Hey. I have a Question about the “Purification” Ending. The Guide says “Finish all Steps BEFORE” Divine Dragon.
Do i really have to beat Owl 2.0 in the Estate before the Dragon? Ive finished all the other Steps but cant beat Owl. When is the last point to kill him?
PowerPyx says
Hi actually, only Steps 1-8 have to be done before. The reason being that Kuro / Emma go to different places after you return from defeating Divine Dragon.
But Owl can still be killed AFTER Divine Dragon (can max out all stats first, kill other bosses). He just stays at Hirata Estate. I tested this and was able to fight him just before the main boss and he still dropped me the Aromatic Flower for the ending. I’ve updated the warning to specify Steps 1-8 need to be done before Divine Dragon, Steps 9-10 are possible until Sword Saint Isshin.

Doing what you guys have written down for Xbox save back up did not work. I did step for step and when I re-synced my save file after going back in the game I was at the temple after the ending. It’s cool since I need three more plauthroughs for all achievements anyway but I think you need an extra step for Xbox. I’m not the only one this did not work for. You may need to disconnect from online from settings, get some what you need to, then delete save and go back online to resync to get achievement to pop and then rinse n repeat for the other 2 endings.
PowerPyx says
This used to work a while back, they must’ve changed this. I think you can try disconnecting from the internet when exiting the game so it can’t auto-upload the save. Then redownload it. Can you please test this and let me know if it worked?
Mitchell says
HEY guys, I’m doing this on Xbox and have a question about the save back up.
When do I Quit out/delete saves on console? In the article as says as soon as the achievement pops but what achievement? When you kill Isshin, or when you get the ending? Its a little unclear for me so if anyone’s 100% knows please let me know how I am suppose to do it
Seems like everyone is doing this on ps4
Gilberto Pinho says
Hello! Did we need to kill any (or all) of the Headless to get the platinum? Tks!
Thomas says
Hello im going for platinum. Does it matter if i give sakura droplet to kuro? Or do i mess something up then? I havent beaten monk or ape yet. Also do i need to finish all bosses gourds pearls and combat arts before killing them? Thanks
Calvin says
The thing you get from lady butterfly? Yes you definitely should give it to Kuro, no downside.
Yes you should kill all optional bosses before killing Ape & Monk, some of them will disappear. But you don’t need to sweat on any headless or shichimen warriors (anything with horror damage), they will be there until final boss. No need to worry too much, you will need minimum 2 playthroughs to platinum anyway, you can get pick up anything you missed the second time.
Jayson says
How do you back up the saves without USB???
PowerPyx says
PlayStation Plus lets you make backups to the cloud.
Stoic Slab says
I am playing on Xbox and I can confirm that getting the 3 non-Shura endings still works using the method detailed in the guide. I was online the entire time, so you merely need to do the right steps at the right times:
-After defeating The Sword Saint, Isshin Ashina (the last boss), you will have a moment of reprieve and Kuro can be found lying on the ground.
-For good measure, quit to the title screen for your progress to save before returning to the game.
-Talk to Kuro and select one of the three endings. A cutscene will play and the achievement SHOULD appear once it ends and the credits begin to roll.
-The moment this happens, press the home button and follow the instructions listed above.
QUESTION:
I am working through NG+ for the Shura ending and the remaining Lapis Lazuli. Did you guys go into offline mode when doing the Shura bosses?
Stoic Slab says
I have just earned the Shura achievement while in NG+ and succeeded in reloading my save from before speaking with Owl, all while remaining in online mode:
-Similar to the other achievements, you should quit to the title screen before talking to Owl.
-Defeat both Emma and Isshin (dying is okay).
-The achievement appears as the credits begin, then follow the same instructions in the Xbox part of the Guide.
Razgriz says
was wondering if having both viscera from 1st playthrough voids the dragon’s homecoming in ng+ since it says to do in order?
C. says
I didn’t know the pre-reqs and I killed the dragon. Now I need to start over, which I really don’t feel like it. If I download someone else save game would it work if I load into my PS4? If yes, to you mind sharing yours ? 🙂

Short guide on how to save scum on Xbox One for the 3 Kuro ending achievements
1- After defeating Sword Saint Ishin rest at the ‘Near Secret Passage’ idol.
2- Head over to Kuro and select 1 of the 3 options to initiate an ending. Skip the cutscene and wait for the achievement to pop.
3- Immediately go offline. (System -> Settings -> Network -> Network Settings-> Go Offline)
4- From the guide menu hover over Sekiro and select quit game.
5- Delete your local save. (Manage game & add-ons -> Saved Data -> Delete All) Do NOT click an option that says ‘delete from everywhere’ as this means you are still online and this will delete your internal and cloud saves.
6- Reconnect your console to Xbox Live. (System -> Connect to Xbox Live -> Go Online)
7- Launch Sekiro and wait for the cloud sync to complete.
When you continue your game you will begin at the ‘Near Secret Passage’ idol.
Repeat the process for all 3 endings.
Sam Barrow says
Can someone help me please? At any point in this whole process do you need to exit the game by pressing the start button and quitting the game through the in game menu, or do you just quit by pressing the Xbox Home button and quitting the game through there?
Also, Is it possible to get all endings in one play through, or do you have to do the Shura ending on a seperate play through?
Call me dumb or whatever, but this whole thing still confuses me. I don’t know why From Software couldn’t have just let us create different save files like any other single player game out there.
Renattooo says
Hi.
You have to make at least 2 playthrough for 100%, because Shura ending locks you out from the other 3 endings and a big part of the game. But you can get the 4 endings in 1 run, if you can reload your save.
Xbox Save: Before talking OWL on the roof (Shura ending) or after killing Isshin Sword Saint (depends on your ending) to save the game, quite via the game menu to title screen, this saves the game to the cloud. After start the game and follow the steps mentioned before/above your quote.
That should work, I used this yesterday.
LennyMyBoah says
Just want to start by saying a massive thank you for all you guys’ hard work ;) I have used them for every platinum I have. Making these guides must be a nightmare! I love gaming but don’t think I would enjoy it so much if I had to play over and over, research best strategies, test things etc. Not to mention the website upkeep and YT uploads. It is much appreciated :))
Dave says
Note, this works on Xbox for the ‘good endings’, but will NOT work on Shura if you die to either Emma or Isshin, as that will save and lock you into your choice with Owl, meaning most Xbox runs will require NG++.
Wayne says
So let me get this correct ,was I supposed to back up my save before talking to owl to get all endings. Because following your guide it tells me to back up save after talking to him ,but I read other comments that say they backed up their save file before they talked to him. Now I’m worried IV messed up and won’t be able to get all endings in one play through ? Thanks
Wolven says
Person who wrote this is a legend. It helped to fill in gaps and prepared me to get the 3 harder endings in one go with the save file approach. Very helpful thank you.
Romanos says
Hello, I accidentally killed Divine Dragon BEFORE gathering the materials for the 2 extra endings (Purification and return).
Did I mess it up completely or is there any chance to get the platinum still with only 2 playthroughs?
Eric says
Is it possible to obtain the shura ending first and then go for the purication ending in one playthrough?
