Starfield Achievement Roadmap
- Estimated Achievement difficulty: 2/10 (can do everything on ‘Very Easy’ difficulty)
- Approximate amount of time to 1000GS: 75 hours (25h Story + 25h Faction Quests + 20h Misc Achievements + 5h farming XP for Level 100)
- Offline Achievements: 50
- Online Achievements: 0
- Number of missable Achievements: Everything non-story related is missable if you complete the ending (Main Quest: “One Giant Leap”). After the ending it automatically starts New Game+ and all progress except your level and perks is deleted (it resets all missions, side quests, inventory items, relationships, starships, outposts, exploration progress, discovered Systems/Planets, crewmates etc). The game doesn’t offer a “Point of No Return” warning and doesn’t warn you when the ending happens, but it keeps multiple Autosaves which you could reload immediately after the credits to go back. You can still do everything from the save before the ending (all Faction Questlines and Misc Achievements are still available when reaching the Ending). KEEP A MANUAL SAVE BEFORE THE ENDING IN MAIN QUEST “ONE GIANT LEAP”.
- 1 Main Missable “Starcrossed” for romancing a character – this can be missed if you destroy the relationship. It takes a long time (around 40 hours). Make sure you keep traveling with the same companion, during dialogues they will give Likes and Dislikes. There are limited opportunities for this, mainly during Story and 4 Faction Questlines. Make quicksave before talking to NPCs, if a dialogue results in a Dislike reload and make different choices to get a Like or Neutral response. Don’t shoot at civilians & people your companion is allied with, this would make them stop following you. Always speak to the companion when they want to talk and pick the “nice” options. Pick the Flirt/Romance/Commitment options until you get married to the companion which unlocks the achievement. Just save regularly and reload if anything messed up the relationship.
- Glitched Achievements: 0
- Does difficulty affect Achievements?: No, can do everything on ‘Very Easy’. Difficulty can be changed in the settings at any time during the playthrough.
- Do Cheats disable Achievements?: Yes, using Command Console Cheats disables all achievements – see All Cheats
- Minimum Playthroughs: 1 (New Game+ is NOT required)
- Free-Roam / Level Select after Story?: No, finishing the Ending automatically starts New Game+ and you lose all progress except your Level and Perks (it resets all missions, side quests, inventory items, relationships, starships, outposts, exploration progress, discovered Systems/Planets, crewmates etc). There is also no Mission Replay function. In New Game+ you can revisit all places again but it will be like you had never been there before.
- Supports Manual Saves?: Yes, unlimited amount of Manual Save Slots on both PC & Xbox Series (can keep hundreds of permanent manual saves). Bug Warning: if you keep over 400 different Manual Save Slots the game will start to crash on both PC & Xbox. Try to keep it under 300 Manual Save Slots and it will be fine. You can overwrite these as often as needed and make unlimited Quicksaves.
- Release Date: September 01, 2023 Premium Edition / September 06, 2023 Standard Edition
Introduction
Welcome to the Starfield Achievement Guide! Starfield takes the core gameplay mechanics of Fallout and Elder Scrolls and applies them to a new game set in space. If you played previous Bethesda Games it will feel familiar. What does the game consist of?: Main Story, Faction Missions, Miscellaneous Missions (Side Quests), Activities (quick 1-step tasks), Romancing Companions, 7 Cities/Settlements (New Atlantis, Cydonia, Akila, Neon, New Homestead, Hopetown, Paradiso), Exploration (visit Solar Systems, Scan Planets and their local Flora/Fauna), building Outposts on Planets for resource extraction, Spaceship Fights, Crafting Food / Materials / Meds / Mods, Looting, and Shooting. The planet landing sites, and artifact locations for story purposes are procedurally generated and different for every player on every playthrough. There is a lot to do and you need a bit of everything. What you will have to complete fully is the Main Story and the Faction Questlines to get all mission-specific achievements. Everything else comes somewhat naturally along the way. In what particular order you approach things is largely up to you, the Roadmap provides the most efficient way but you can already work on side content during the story.
Step 1: Finish Main Story, Improve Relationship with one Companion, Keep Save before Ending [20-25 Hours]
During this step, focus primarily on finishing the story, building a positive relationship with one Companion, and making a save before the Ending. It doesn’t matter what starting class, traits, and difficulty you pick. You don’t have to worry about Factions yet, they can still be joined when reaching the Ending.
Here are all important points to keep in mind:
- [MISSABLE] Starcrossed (Relationship) – There are 4 Main Companions in the game: Sarah Morgan, Sam Coe, Andreja, Barrett (100% confirmed to work for this achievement are Andreja and Sarah, Sam and Barrett still need confirmation). You meet all 4 of them automatically in the Main Story. You must max out the relationship with one of them. The gender of your own character doesn’t matter, the companions don’t care about your gender. Keep traveling with the same Companion whenever possible. The way Relationships work is that your Companion will give a “Like” or “Dislike” based on your dialogue choices throughout the game (displayed in top right corner). Make a Quicksave before talking to NPCs. If during a dialogue you get a “Dislike”, reload the Quicksave and pick other dialogues to get a “Like” or Neutral response. There are limited Dialogue Opportunities to get Likes. If you get too many Dislikes you could undo the progress you made. If you travel with different Companions all the time you would never gain enough Likes from one person and would eventually run out of Quest Dialogues that qualify for this. Always attempt to solve things peacefully, don’t shoot at civilians/ non-hostile NPCs, otherwise the Companion will stop following you and the relationship will be destroyed. Speak to the Companion whenever they want to talk and pick the “Nice” choices. Always pick the Flirt/Commitment choices when available. You probably won’t max out the relationship from story alone, it will take another 2-3 Faction Questlines (around 40 hours playtime total) to reach max relationship. After getting enough Likes, the Companion will give a Friendship quest > do this and pick Romance option at the end > keep traveling together until the companion wants to talk and you can propose a Marriage (pick Commitment) > after a few hours the Companion will give a Wedding Quest > get married > achievement unlocks. Simply Put: Save constantly, reload if you get a Dislike. If in doubt refer to Sarah Romance Guide / Andreja Romance Guide.
- [MISSABLE] Keep Save before Ending – When you reach Main Quest “One Giant Leap”, make a Manual Save. This is the end of the story. Continue to finish the story, afterward reload this Manual Save (or the oldest Autosave) to be put back before the Ending. From this Save you will have access to all Faction Questlines for the remaining achievements. You don’t want to go into New Game+ because it deletes all progress except your level and perks.
- [TIME SAVER] Save 150,000+ Credits to Buy a Ship with at least 28LY (Lightyears) Jump Distance – This is required to visit all Star Systems. For story purposes you will need a ship with at least 21LY distance, and for the achievement to visit all Stars at least 28LY (this is the furthest distance between star systems). Some ships with 25LY can be upgraded to 28LY. Don’t waste money on ships that don’t fulfill this requirement. Go for one that has a lot of fuel storage so you can jump through the entire starmap in one go to save time (fuel is free and instantly recharges after each Grav Jump).
- [TIME SAVER] Loot Tips & Tricks – Always loot Credits, Ammo, Med Packs from bodies. They don’t add any weight. If your inventory gets full, talk to your Companion and dump items on them. Weapons and Armor are worth the most. They can be sold at Sales Terminals at every city’s Landing Pad and at merchants (do this when returning from quest). When a shop runs out of money, sleep in bed (lodge or spaceship) for 48 hours, then all shops have full money again. You can also store loot in your spaceship, interact with the wall panel in the Cockpit near the Pilot Seat. The stats & values of dropped items scale to your own character level. They won’t show a level on the item but the damage/defense goes up and the sales value increases a lot as you level up.
- [TIME SAVER] Break 50 Digital Locks / Buy “Security” (Tech) Skill – For “Cyber Jockey” you must lockpick 50 locks. This requires the “Security” skill for lockpicking, and items called “Digipicks” which are bought from merchants and found as loot. Pick every lock you find until you get the achievement. This also allows you to enter otherwise inaccessible rooms and solve objectives peacefully (as to not upset your Companion with violent options).
- [TIME SAVER] Access 50 Computers – For “Jacked In” you must interact with 50 Computers. Always hack into Computers when you see them.
- [TIME SAVER] Buy “Weight Lifting” (Physical) Skill – This skill increases the inventory size so you can carry plenty of weapons, use whatever you have ammo for.
- [TIME SAVER] Invest most Skill Points in Spaceship Upgrades (Tech Skill Tree) – “Piloting” / “Shield Systems” / “Starship Design” / Anything for more ship damage is good. Even on ‘Very Easy’ some spaceship fights can be challenging if you are outnumbered. They are more about brute force than skill. With these upgrades it will be much easier.
Step 2: Join All 4 Factions, Complete All 4 Faction Questlines, Reach Maximum Relationship with One Companion [20-25 Hours]
After the story reload your Ending Save. If you forgot to make a Manual Save, reload the oldest Autosave.
Now finish all 4 Faction Questlines. Each of them gives 3 achievements (1 for joining, 2 mission-specific for completing their questlines). You can be in all Factions simultaneously in the same playthrough, they don’t cancel out each other. They are all still available at the end. Refer to their achievements below on how to join them:
- Freestar Rangers: Deputized > Surgical Strike > The Hammer Falls
- Ryujin Industries: Back to the Grind > Guilty Parties > Executive Level
- UC Vanguard: Supra et Ultra > The Devils You Know > A Legacy Forged
- Crimson Fleet: Rook Meets King > The Best There Is > Legacy’s End
During this step you will automatically get the achievement for 30 Terminal/Misc. Missions because Faction Quests count for it too. You should also get the 30 Activities done, many are just talking to your Companion. You will also get lots of money from quest rewards, try to save all of it to buy 10 Spaceships later.
If you haven’t already maxed out a Companion Relationship keep working on it until you get married (keep getting Likes, do Companion Quests when they offer them, pick the Flirt/Romance/Commitment dialogues).
Step 3: Miscellaneous Achievements (Crafting, Outposts, Collecting) [20 Hours]
Take care of all remaining achievements. Most of them have to do with building Outposts, crafting Items, collecting materials, 20 Skill Magazines, collect 10 Spaceships, 10 Crewmates, smuggling Contraband, get 20 Quantum Essence, visit all Star Systems.
Most of these can be tracked via the in-game stats: Open Menu ( / Tab ) > Status ( / B ) > select Category.
Step 4: Level 100 Grind [5 Hours]
After you are done with all other achievements you will likely be in the range of Level 40. This means you have most of the leveling left to do. It takes a total of 479,326 XP from Level 1 to Level 100 (for reference: from Level 40 to Level 100 you need 410,570 XP). The XP requirement per level-up increases by about +100XP per level.

Directly where you spawn after fast traveling to Neon Core, turn to your right and there will be a red dragon on the wall with the application terminal in front of it. You must fill out an application form at the terminal to proceed with the quest. Always pick the choice that shows you have the most job experience and pick the nice dialogues (1st one at top) when talking to the recruiter. |
||
Home Sweet Home Build an Outpost |
10 G | |
To build an outpost, free roam on a planet and open the Scanner ( / F ), walk around until the “Outpost” prompt at the bottom of the screen turns from gray to white, then you can press / R to place an Outpost: This only works in certain areas, not everywhere. You will usually need to walk away from the landing site for a couple hundred meters/yards until a suitable outpost location is available. Placing the outpost is enough for this achievement, no need to build anything else. |
||
Shipping Magnate Connect 5 Outposts with Cargo Links |
10 G | |
This is one of the more complex achievements in the game. It will require a lot of resources, it’s best you make a Manual Save before starting with this. If anything goes wrong you can always reload and redo it.
Note that you will need 6 Outposts (not 5 as the achievement suggests) because they can only be linked in pairs. If you build only 5 outposts, your 5th Outpost won’t have a free Outpost to link with since 1+2 & 3+4 are already taken. So you need a 6th Outpost to link 5 + 6. Sometimes the game is a bit weird and doesn’t show all available Outposts for linking, if this happens keep building more Outposts nearby until you reach the limit and recheck what can be linked. If you need to remove Outposts see How to Remove Outposts. You don’t need to buy any specific skills for this (“Outpost Management” social skill is NOT required). No research projects are needed, everything you need is available from the start of the game. The Outposts can be completely empty, they don’t need any other buildings, just 1 Cargo Link each. They don’t need to trade any outgoing/incoming Resources. To get enough Resources (12 Beryllium + 72 Aluminium + 120 Iron + 12 Zero Wire) simply buy them from merchants. Go to System: Alpha Centauri > Planet: Jemison > Landing Site: New Atlantis > from the landing pad walk straight ahead until you reach the open area with the train station, turn left and enter the shop “Jemison Mercantile” > talk to the lady inside. Buy these, sleep in your bed (lodge or ship) for 48 hours straight, visit the merchant again and they will have restocked all resources, repeat until you have enough. When you run out of inventory space dump all your other gear on the ship and companion. You can track this under Menu ( / Tab ) > Status ( / B ) > Crafting > Cargo Links Established. |
||
Industrialist Produce 500 Total Resources from Outposts |
20 G | |
For this you have to mine 500 units of chemical elements via Extractors at Outposts (anything that goes in the “Resources” Inventory category).
Now the Storage Container will slowly fill up. Each container can hold around 124 resources total. You can speed up the process by sleeping in the bed on your ship, just fast forward time. To make it even faster, build 5 Extractors and 5 Storage Containers, connect each Extractor to a Container, sleep for 24 hours a few times in a row until the achievement unlocks. You DON’T have to empty the containers and collect the materials. It mines them automatically in the background, as soon as 500 total were mined the achievement unlocks, even if you are on a completely different planet doing other tasks. However, if the Containers fill up it will eventually stop producing Resources so you either need to empty the Containers or build 5 of them. The fastest way to get the resources to build the Extractors/Power/Storage Containers is to buy them from merchants. For example in System: Alpha Centauri > Planet: Jemison > Landing Site: New Atlantis > from the landing pad walk straight ahead until you reach the open area with the train station, turn left and enter the shop “Jemison Mercantile” > talk to the lady inside. Buy all resources you need, sleep in your bed (lodge or ship) for 48 hours straight, then visit the merchant again and they will have restocked all resources, repeat until you have what you need. |
||
Chief Engineer Modify a Ship |
10 G | |
Go to Star System: Alpha Centauri > Planet: Jemison > Landing Site: New Atlantis.
From the landing pad go straight ahead and you will find a man called “Ship Service Technician”, standing next to the Trade Authority Kiosk (vending machine). Talk to him and pick dialogue “I’d like to view and modify my ship”. Now click on any category of your ship and switch out any part, doesn’t matter which one. You can go for the cheapest. Then quit out and choose to pay for the part to install it, then the achievement will unlock. If you don’t want to waste money you can make a save beforehand and reload it to get the money back. |
||
Stellar Cartography Visit 20 Star Systems |
10 G | |
See The Stars My Destination for visiting all Star Systems. | ||
The Stars My Destination Visit all Star Systems |
20 G | |
You can tell which Star Systems you’ve already visited if they show a “Survey %” in the top left corner when you scroll over them on the Starmap:
If they don’t show the Survey % it means you’ve not visited the Star System before. This way you can easily keep track of what you still need. 28 Lightyears Jump Distance is the most you need to visit all Star Systems. The more Lightyears two stars are apart, the better stats your Gravdrive needs to cover the distance. The Jump Distance of your ship can be seen in the Ship Menu. Press / Tab > in bottom left click the ship > on left side it will show “Jump LY” (LY stands for Lightyears distance). You can increase the Jump Distance by buying a new ship, installing a stronger generator, or buying the “Astrodynamics” skills from the science skill tree. Your starting ship won’t be good enough to reach everywhere. Most ships that have a base stat of 25 Lightyears can be upgraded to 28 Lightyears by installing a stronger Gravdrive and Reactor. Or simply buy a ship that starts with 30 Lightyears and you’ll be good to go. Although keep in mind some Star Systems will have immediate enemy encounters so it’s also important to have good weapons and shields. Or you can try to quickly jump to the next Star to evade the enemies. Playing on the lowest difficulty and buying the Tech skills for better Shields/Damage will help if you get into spacefights with high-level enemies. |
||
Boots on the Ground Land on 100 Planets |
20 G | |
To land on a planet, select it from the starmap, press / X to fast travel to it > / R to scan it > either select a marked landing site or hold / right-click to land wherever you want. You can’t land on gas planets, water, or extreme weather conditions.
You can track this under Menu ( / Tab ) > Status ( / B ) > Exploration > Planets Landed On. As part of the Main Story & 4 Faction Questlines you will automatically land on about 40-50 Planets. |
||
Fixer Complete 30 Activities |
30 G | |
“Activities” are a type of mission in the quest log. You can track them under Menu ( / Tab ) > Missions > Activity. They are very short one-step quests, usually for talking to a person that then gives a new quest, or for tutorial tasks like crafting an item for the first time. Each time a companion wants to talk to you it also counts as an “activity”.
The best approach is to just do the story and the 4 Faction Questlines and talk to your companion whenever they say they want to talk. You should completely more than 30 activities automatically from this. If you still don’t have the achievement after this, simply track the remaining activities from the Mission Menu, they will gradually unlock as you advance through the game and go near certain people for the first time. You can track how many you completed under Menu ( / Tab ) > Status ( / B ) > Mission > Activities Completed. Personally, I got 33 automatically from story and the 4 Faction Questlines. |
||
Privateer Complete 30 Terminal or Misc. Missions |
10 G | |
This achievement description is slightly misleading. It also counts “Faction Missions” towards this. Simply do all Faction Missions for the other mission-related achievements and you’ll automatically get this in the process.
In addition to Faction Missions, “Misc Missions” are a shorter side quests usually given by NPCs. You can track them under Menu ( / Tab ) > Missions > Misc. The “Power from Beyond” questline also counts, which is automatically started during the story and has you going to different temples to unlock their powers. “Terminal Missions” are infinitely repeatable bounty hunts. They are started from Mission Terminals in the populated main cities, often in pubs. For example, one Terminal is in Star System: Cheyenne > Planet: Akila > Landing Site: Akila City > inside the Freestar Collective pub. You will have to do a Terminal Mission as part of joining the Freestar Collective. Then you can keep accepting new missions from the Terminal. But these missions can be ignored since you do 30+ Faction Quests automatically for their achievements. You can track how many you completed under Menu ( / Tab ) > Status ( / B ) > Mission > Side Quests completed. Personally, I got 51 automatically from story and the 4 Faction Questlines. |
||
Life Begets Life Gather 500 Organic Resources |
20 G | |
“Organic Resources” are anything gathered from plants and from creatures. The fastest way is to run around planets with the scanner open ( / F ), look for highlighted plants and loot them.
You can track this under Menu ( / Tab ) > Status ( / B ) > Crafting > Organic Resources Gathered. |
||
Rock Collection Gather 500 Inorganic Resources |
10 G | |
“Inorganic Resources” are any chemical elements gathered from shooting the Cutter at them until they break (laser mining tool). The fastest way is to run around planets with the scanner open ( / F ), look for highlighted chemical compounds and break them with the Cutter.
You get a Cutter automatically at the start of the game but if you sold it can always buy a new one from merchants, for example in System: Alpha Centauri > Planet: Jemison > Landing Site: New Atlantis > from the landing pad walk straight ahead until you reach the open area with the train station, turn left and enter the shop “Jemison Mercantile” > talk to the merchant inside. You can track this under Menu ( / Tab ) > Status ( / B ) > Crafting > Inorganic Resources Gathered. |
||
Cyber Jockey Bypass 50 Digital Locks |
30 G | |
“Digital Locks” are Starfield’s form of lockpicking. You will often find locked doors, containers and safes. Picking these digital locks requires two things: a “Digipick” (can be bought from shops and often found near locked doors), and the “Security” Skill (purple Tech skill tree).
There are different levels of locks: Advanced > Expert > Master. Each requires a higher level of the “Security” skill. To upgrade this you must pick more locks and invest one skill point. Make it a priority to buy this skill as early as possible, ideally even make it a starting skill. It’s extremely useful to get into locked places. Whenever you see a lock, open it until you have this achievement. If you don’t have this by the time you are done with the story and the 4 Faction Questlines, then free roam in the populated cities, they usually have a bunch of locks. You can track this under Menu ( / Tab ) > Status ( / B ) > Crime > Locks Picked. Personally, I got 37 automatically from story and the 4 Faction Questlines. |
||
Jacked In Access 50 Computers |
20 G | |
Computers are terminals that you can interact with. They can usually be found in enemy bases and in the populated areas.
The best approach is to finish the story and 4 Faction Questlines first. You will automatically have to use lots of computers in quest objectives. Along the way, keep a look out for optional computers and interact with any you come across If you don’t have 50 after you’re done with achievement-related quests then just keep exploring in the cities and at landing sites, most of the repeated open world areas with enemies will have a couple for activating robots. Unlike most other achievements, there is no in-game stat to track how many you got. |
||
Soldier of Fortune Mod 50 Weapons |
30 G | |
Weapons can be modded at Weapon Workbenches. One can be found in the basement of the Lodge, your base of operations where you meet the Constellation faction (System: Alpha Centauri > Planet: Jemison > Landing Site: The Lodge). At the start of the building turn right and go downstairs to the basement, turn right to see the Weapon Workbench.
At the workbench select a weapon and click “Modify”. To modify parts you need two things: 1) The necessary materials (quickest way is to buy them from merchants, slower way is to mine them from planets), 2) and the necessary research level. You must interact with a Research Lab (in same basement of the Lodge as the Workbench), click the Weaponry category and research the different categories. The research will cost resources too. The more categories you research the more freedom you have with the choice of mods. You can track this under Menu ( / Tab ) > Status ( / B ) > Crafting > Weapon Mods Crafted / Armor Mods Crafted. |
||
Replicator Craft 100 Items |
30 G | |
For this you must craft 100 Items at the Industrial Workbench & Pharmaceutical Lab. These can be found in the basement of the Lodge, your base of operations where you meet the Constellation faction (System: Alpha Centauri > Planet: Jemison > Landing Site: The Lodge). At the start of the building turn right and go downstairs to the basement, there you find workbenches of all types.
The quickest method is to buy the required resources from merchants, they restock their inventory after you sleep for 48 hours. Go to System: Alpha Centauri > Planet: Jemison > Landing Site: New Atlantis > from the landing pad walk straight ahead until you reach the open area with the train station, turn left and enter the shop “Jemison Mercantile” > talk to the merchant inside. Buy all Resources you need for cheap items, craft them in lodge, sleep 48h for merchant to restock, repeat. Resources are fairly cheap and the merchant has a lot of them, so this shouldn’t take long at all. How many items you crafted at the Industrial Workbench cannot be tracked. But you can track Pharmaceuticals under Menu ( / Tab ) > Status ( / B ) > Crafting > Chems Crafted. |

The Family You Choose Recruit 10 Separate Companions |
20 G | |
7 Companions are recruitable during main story quests (you meet them all automatically): Andreja, Barrett, Heller, Lin, Sam Coe, Sarah Morgan, Vasco. More companions can be recruited in certain bars/diners/pubs. Go to System: Alpha Centauri > Planet: Jemison > Landing Site: New Atlantis > from the landing pad walk straight ahead until you reach the open area with the train station, turn left and enter the shop “The Viewport” > talk to the people inside. Most of the people there can be recruited for money, usually in the range of 6,500-18,000 credits per person. In the early game this may seem expensive, but you get upward of 1 Million credits automatically from Main Story and the 4 Faction Questlines. You can always make quick money by selling loot to merchants, sleep in bed for 48 hours (ship or lodge) to refresh their money and sell them more stuff. After recruiting someone, you will be asked to assign them to a place. Just assign each person to your ship and when it’s full assign the next person until the achievement pops. I had to recruit a total of 12 people before the achievement popped (I had 6 from story, 6 from The Viewport bar). So if it doesn’t unlock at 10 just recruit a few more or assign them to different places. You can make Quicksave beforehand and reload it afterward to get the money back. |

Starcrossed Reach Maximum Relationship Level with a Companion |
20 G | |
*MISSABLE*
» Starfield – Sarah Morgan Romance Guide There are 4 Main Companions in the game: Sarah Morgan, Sam Coe, Andreja, Barrett (100% confirmed to work for this achievement are Andreja and Sarah, Sam and Barrett still need confirmation). You meet all 4 of them automatically in the Main Story. They are part of The Constellation Faction. The gender of your own character doesn’t matter for this, the Companions do not care what gender you are (can change gender any time in “Enhance” shops around major cities anyway). It is very important that you keep traveling with the same companion for the entire game. Decide on one and stay with that person, don’t constantly switch companions unless the story forces it. It takes a very long time, around 40 hours of gameplay to max out one relationship. To put it in perspective: for achievements you must finish the main story and 4 factions. I only maxed out my first relationship after having finished the story and 3 of 4 faction questlines. It is also important that you always get “Likes” from that person. During dialogue choices you will sometimes see your companion giving a “Like” or “Dislike”, this is displayed in the top right corner. Make Quicksaves regularly before talking to people. If your companion gives a dislike, reload the save and repeat the conversation. There is almost always a choice that gives either a Like or Neutral response. If you get a few Dislikes you can still make up for it by continuing to get likes. But after you finished the Main Story & 4 Faction Questlines there aren’t too many big conversations left to gain likes from your companion. If you get as many Dislikes as you get Likes, you could run into a situation where you have done practically everything for achievements and still haven’t maxed out a relationship. The Dislikes undo any progress you made. That’s why this is missable, but still doable in New Game+ (however relationships reset to zero in NG+ so would need to redo everything). Sarah and Sam like when you agree with them and pick the “nice” options. Andreja likes it when you pick the sassy options and show strength. They all hate when you sell out for money or start unnecessary bloodshed. So attempt to solve situations peacefully as far as possible. However, it doesn’t matter how the 4 Faction Questlines play out. After each Faction questlines your companions will want to talk and give some feedback on your choices. Even if they disagree with your choices, there’s always a dialogue choice to avoid getting a Dislike if you agree that you made a mistake or didn’t consider the consequences. Regularly talk to your companion whenever they want to talk. They will call out when they want to talk, you can always score some likes from that. Whenever possible, pick the [FLIRT] option with your companion. After you improved the relationship enough you will get a “Friendship” mission. This is a quest given by the companion directly after talking to them. It can then be tracked from the mission log. At the end of their mission choose the [ROMANCE] option. After a while your companion wants to talk again and you can make a marriage proposal by choosing the [COMMITMENT] option. The companion will automatically accept this. Then wait a while until the Companion wants to talk again to plan the wedding. Then after a while they want to talk again and give you their Wedding Quest. Complete the Wedding and the achievement will unlock! If your Companion goes missing, open the Menu ( / Tab) > click the Ship Menu in bottom left > open the Crew Menu (displayed in bottom right) > this will show where your Companion is and you can assign them to another place if they don’t spawn. If they are in the Lodge they might be in their room or wandering around. If a story quest forces playing with another Companion that’s fine, just remember to talk to your main Companion afterward and ask them to travel with you again. To sum up:
Note that you can still end the relationship and get divorced at any time to start a relationship with another companion. To do this simply talk to the companion after getting married, choose to discuss the relationship, and choose to end it. There are no “Romance Cutscenes” when you get married. The only difference is that the companion will wake up next to you when you rest in a bed, and they will make cheerful comments when they see you. See the Romance Guides below for your Companion of Choice: » Starfield – Sarah Morgan Romance Guide |

War of Angels Collect 20 Quantum Essence |
20 G | |
“Quantum Essence” is a unique resource dropped by “Starborn” and “Guardian” enemies. They are the powerful astronauts that teleport into some places and use stealth tech to become invisible. You only encounter them later in the story. Upon defeating these enemy types, it will show a popup in the top right corner “You have Gained 1 Quantum Essence”. This happens automatically, you don’t need to manually pick it up, can’t miss it:
“Starborn” are met multiple times during the story. They spawn at most of the artifacts that you collect from mines/caves later in the story. A lot of them spawn in “Main Mission 15: Unearthed” in the NASA base on earth. “Guardians” spawn after each of the Temples from the “Power from Beyond” questline (automatically starts after Main Mission 05: Into the Unknown). There are 26 Temples total but 2 are story-related and don’t have a Guardian. The remaining 24 Temples each have 1 Guardian = 24 Quantum Essences total. From the story alone you won’t reach 20. Personally, I got 12 Quantum Essence during the story. For the rest you will have to do the “Power from Beyond” questline to visit the temples and defeat their Guardians (they always spawn after you complete the temple). You can keep track of how many Quantum Essences you have under Menu ( / Tab) > click “Powers” at the top (only appears after unlocking first story-related power) > in bottom left it shows how many Quantum Essences you got. You need 20 cumulatively, not at the same time. So if you spend any Quantum Essence those will still count towards the achievement. You can use them in the “Powers” Menu, they temporarily improve your power regeneration speed, allowing you to spam powers very quickly. This way you can get past difficult encounters more easily. |

Fleet Commander Collect 10 Ships |
20 G | |
For this you must have collected 10 spaceships cumulatively, you don’t need to own 10 at the same time. If you sold any ships they still count towards the 10 even if you don’t own them anymore.
You will automatically unlock 3 Ships from the Story and 4 Faction Questlines: Frontier (starting ship from story), Star Eagle (reward for completing Freestar Collective questline), UC Prison Shuttle (unlocked during Crimson Fleet questline). You will likely also buy a 4th ship during the story because you need a minimum of 21 Lightyears Jump Distance for a story objective (which the other ships don’t have). So after doing all quest-related achievements you should only need 6-7 ships. From the Story + 4 Faction Questlines you get around 1,000,000 Credits which is enough to buy another 6-7 ships if you go for the cheapest ones that cost around 100,000 each. You can buy ships from Ship Service Merchants. They are found at the landing pads of all major cities. Talk to them and check what ships they have available. The quickest and easiest option would be to finish Story + 4 Faction Questlines first. Create a Manual Save, then simply buy ships until the achievement unlocks. Then you can reload the save to get your money back. You can also sell your ships at Ship Service Technicians but they only give 20% of the original purchase price. Sold ships still count towards the 10 total so feel free to sell all of them to afford another ship. If you run out of money, you can also steal ships for free and they all count towards the achievement even without registering them at a Technician. This requires a little more work, see How to Steal Spaceships. |

Dark Matter Eliminate 300 Human Enemies |
20 G | |
You will kill over 300 human enemies automatically from completing the Story & 4 Faction Questlines. You can also find human enemies frequently at Landing Sites on planets, particularly in Outposts.
You can track this under Menu ( / Tab ) > Status ( / B ) > Combat > Humans killed. Personally, I got 490 automatically from story and the 4 Faction Questlines. |

Another Bug Hunt Eliminate 300 Creatures |
20 G | |
“Creatures” are any animals and monsters. Basically any life form that’s not a human and not a robot. You will frequently encounter creatures in the open world while exploring planets.
You can track this under Menu ( / Tab ) > Status ( / B ) > Combat > Creatures killed. Personally, I got 200/300 automatically from story and the 4 Faction Questlines. For the rest simply free-roam different planets. |

Reach for the Stars Reach Level 100 |
100 G | |
Going from Level 1 to Level 100 takes a total of 479,326 XP. This will likely be your last achievement. From doing all other achievements you will get to around Level 40. Then you have another 60 Levels left, and the XP requirement per level-up increases with each level. This will be the long endgame grind.

PowerPyx says
Cool game, enjoy! =)
BasketCase9483 says
Is it actually confirmed that it goes straight to NG+ when you complete the game? Because the developer has said that there is lots of post game content and they want you to complete the main quest before doing a lot of the side content.
PowerPyx says
Yes 100% confirmed, it goes straight to NG+ without a Point of No Return warning.
RamsaysaurusRex says
Correct me if I’m wrong, but from what I’m seeing here:
1. You can join every faction in the game before the ending and do all their quests.
2. None of the achievements are missable (except for that one romance trophy), as long as you do them before the ending.
Is this true? Just want to make sure – don’t want to miss any trophies. Thanks!
PowerPyx says
That’s all correct yes.
PhantomFear94 says
Thank you so much for this. Big question – did you like this game?
PowerPyx says
I did but the level 100 grind is where the achievements stop being fun. Level 50 would’ve been enough.
PhantomFear94 says
Game looks incredible but that achievement feels excessive. Hope someone finds some stupid XP exploit shortly after release but I’ll be going for 1K either way!
Matt says
My god, game isn’t officially out in this side of the world yet. Bravo sir, Bravo ??
JJR says
Eek, so no post-game exploration? I will still play the game, but I am not a big fan of that tbh
PowerPyx says
It automatically starts NG+.
So no “post-game exploration” in the traditional sense, but in NG+ you can go back everywhere. It will reset all progress though so you have to start over with everything.
Fuzzy says
I’m seeing more people saying to do just the story and get to NG+ and play the game fully that way.
Thoughts without spoilers?
PowerPyx says
In theory it would work but you’ll lose all relationship progress, discovered star systems etc. Faster to stay in first playthrough and do everything there than starting over in NG+. For achievements there is no benefit doing them in NG+.
Starfield says
Hi Powerpyx, I very confuse with flight controls. My ship seem very slow or not moving, just able to moving when use boost. I own Xbox Series X version so can you explain to me how to use flight controls?
PowerPyx says
You must power up the Engines. In bottom left it will show bars how much power you routed to the engine.
To visit planets you must fast travel via star map and power up the Grav Drive, they are too far apart to fly there.
Dan says
Supra Et Ultra isn’t unlocking for me. Do I have to go through the full quest tree? I’ve completed the mission and up to Grunt Work.
Leo says
Yep, same for me.
Marco says
Thanks for this great guide. With Cyberpunk 2077 I really followed the guide to get everything I wanted, but for Starfield I actually just want to play until the very end, get all achievements along the way and then start over in NG+ to get the rest. So first just play the story and enjoy and after that get to work I would say.
To me it is a bit unclear how this exactly will influence the achievement hunting in a negative way. Do you mean that, for instance, the “lockpick” achievement is reset? But if so, isn’t easier to get that achievement on NG+ because you keep all your perks (higher digipick level from the start of a new game) making it easier to get through those achievements?
james says
Thanks for the guide, as others have said, it’s fantastic work as always.
The one query I have is with the max level companion achievement.
Do we have to really go out of our way and play a certain way to get it? Or can it be reversed easily if too many ‘incorrect’ decisions are made? It seems like this is the only achievement whereby we need to pay particular attention as all.
Thanks again!
Ashley says
For the “Buy a Ship with at least 28LY (Lightyears) Jump Distance” do i need to put skill points into piloting to unlock class B & C ships, or can you just fly one straight away, i’ve not yet seen one for sale so i don’t know. Thanks
PowerPyx says
There are Class A ships with 30LY, so no need to buy piloting skill. Personally, I bought “Gallileo” ship from the technician at New Atlantis landing pad, it has 25 LY default and I upgraded it to 28 LY in ship builder.
1) Visit the Service Technician in all major cities (they are marked on starmap with a white spaceship icon). Each technician has other ships for sale.
2) Can also steal ships – see How to Steal Ships (best to look for ones at randomly spawning Landing Sites during planet exploration). Sometimes you will find ones with 30LY. Registering them costs some credits but cheaper than buying a new ship.
Or just buy Gallileo and upgrade it, seems to be a commonly available Class A ship. It has low default cargo space but can manually install some more Cargo in ship builder.
Danny says
Whilst playing my main companions have just disappeared sam etc is this supposed to happen I was making good progress towards the achievement
PowerPyx says
Happened to me too. Check in the Crew Menu and reassign them to the ship or lodge to make them respawn there.
See How to Assign Crewmates.
Andrio says
Hostile Intelligence bugged on me and Kaiser is not moving and I can’t continue the quest. I would like it not to revert to older save as I found stuff which I might not get again.
Any suggestions?
PhantomFear94 says
There is a circulating reddit method now which may help with Level 100.
You essentially stock up on extractors and storage containers and go to an abundant planet of 2 resources, mine those resources (much like with “Industrialist” to a ridiculous extent, sleep for X hours, and then craft with them, rinsing and repeating. A planet with a high LT:UT time ration helps, ideally 1:10+, as resources produce in UT. If you have – say – a 1:10 ratio, you produce “100 hours” worth with every 10 hours sleeping.
TL;DR – make a resource farm for XP with a ton of extractors and containers in a 1:10 LT:UT time ratio planet, sleep, then craft with abundance of items. It seems to be the quickest method found thus far.
Luis says
I’m just wondering if the cheats are entered on PC and then you load your file on Series X, will the achievements still be locked ?
KoimiaX says
Yes
CAPP360 says
It tags the save as using console commands and those carry over through the cloud save, so in shot, no.
Adutrix says
combat status says I’ve killed 324 creatures but there’s no achievement yet. unknowingly i had my achievements disabled so i installed the mod and received few other achievements afterwards but still not that one. what should i do?
Jacob Groves says
I played on Xbox Series X and no problem but if you use cheats / mods on PC then some achievements become blocked. I think your achievement is blocked due to you use those things.
PhantomFear94 says
Some of the cumulative achievements have problems, but loading an older save fixes the problem. I’d always save when 1 away. The 20 magazines took 2-3 attempts of reloading an older save and trying again. Same thing happened to me with organic resources.
MMW says
Confirmed – “Starcrossed” can be gotten with Sam as the companion…….
PainOfDemise says
I know it’s a bit late, but if you wanted to update or add a note to visiting all the star systems. I found an easier way to determine if you’ve been to them or not and not have to click on all of them to see if it shows the survey %. All you have to do is look at the star system and see if it glows. The ones you haven’t visited yet don’t have that glow around the system. The ones you have visited, do. Simple.
