Introduction
Welcome to the Steelrising Trophy Guide! Steelrising is a Soulslike RPG set in a dystopian 1789 France invaded by Automats. It is possible to earn the platinum in 1 playthrough provided you play on Normal Mode, but you’d still need to make a manual save to the PS Cloud before heading to Versailles in order to unlock missing trophies after finishing the game. Additionally, the other important thing to keep in mind is that you can’t heal yourself with the Health Flask (“Oil Burette”), but using alternate potions “(Oil Vials)” is fine. The difference is that the Oil Burette restores health instantly and doesn’t cost anything while the Oil Vials restore health over 20 seconds and can be purchased at Upgrade Stations (“Vestals”) or found in the world. Luckily, you can stock up on these Vials from the store (“Boutique”) found at every Vestal. There’s a very generous number of Oil Vials at stores, but bear in mind that you can run out. As usual with other Soulslike games you can farm enemy groups infinitely for more XP (called “Anima Essence”) and use this to level up as much as you want. The more level-ups you farm the easier it gets. If you get stuck on a boss, you can always farm more XP to make it easier. Simply interact with a Vestal to respawn all enemies. There is no online co-op in Steelrising, meaning other people can’t drop you overpowered endgame gear. The game is solo only, therefore relies on your individual skill.
Step 1: Finish the Story WITHOUT Using the Oil Burette on Normal Mode and WITHOUT Doing Any Non-Mandatory Side Quests, Complete Citizen Stories, Make a Back-Up Save on PS Cloud Before Heading to Versailles (BEFORE Starting Story Mission “Checkmate”), Unlock Robespierre Ending
When you start a new game, you must choose to play the game on Normal Mode. It’s important you pick Normal Mode, because in Assist Mode several trophies do not unlock, including Completionist. For starting class the “Dancer” is recommended because of how well-balanced its stats are. Check out Steelrising Starting Class Guide if you want to learn more about all classes. Next, do NOT equip the “Oil Burette” in your quick selection menu when the game prompts you to do so after encountering the first enemy (30 seconds into the game). You don’t want to accidentally use it during your playthrough to heal as this will void
Completionist. Instead, you can stock up on “Oil Vials”, a one-time consumable that can be purchased for just 100 Anima Essence at Vestals (Upgrade Stations that look like cages), in the “Boutique” menu. There’s a very generous number of Oil Vials at stores. They are also found in the world and can be farmed infinitely from enemies. These Oil Vials restore your health continuously over 20 seconds. Put these in your quick selection menu. Healing with these Oil Vials is perfectly fine and doesn’t void the trophy.
Play through the story, ignoring every non-mandatory side quest until you unlock story mission “Checkmate“, but don’t start it yet. Ignoring every side quest (except for those necessary to advance the story) is the safest way to unlock one of the two ending trophies, Incorruptible. Side quests start once you’ve released the side quest giver from the sarcophagus guarded by Titan bosses (unmissable, story-related) or after talking to them at Cordeliers Convent in the Luxembourg district. If the side quest starts immediately after the Titan boss fight and is not required to advance the story, ignore it. If the side quest giver doesn’t give you the side quest immediately, do NOT interact with him at Cordeliers Convent in the Luxembourg district unless you have no other option to advance the story. Completing some side quests is necessary to advance it and this won’t void the trophy. Additionally, as you play through the story, complete Citizen Stories as soon as they become available. There are reports of some Citizen Stories becoming unavailable after a certain point. Refer to Steelrising – All Citizen Stories Locations for more information.
Right before starting story mission “Checkmate” and heading to Versailles, the game will warn you about the point of no return, here’s what it looks like:
BEFORE advancing, make a manual backup save to the PS Cloud. You can download this save when you’re done with the story and still unlock missing trophies without having to replay the game. To upload save: Go to PS5 Settings > Saved Data and Game/App Settings > Saved Data (PS5) > Console Storage > Steelrising > Upload to Cloud Storage > go back one menu and select Sync Saved Data > Auto-Sync Saved Data = DISABLED (this is to ensure it doesn’t automatically overwrite your Cloud Save).
Starting Checkmate mission will lock you into Versailles until the end of the game, every incomplete side quest will auto-complete and fast travel will be locked, even after the story. This is normal, but because we have a backup save on the PS Cloud, we will use it to clean everything up after the story.
Quick Summary:
- Don’t equip Oil Burette, only use Oil Vials to heal
- Do Citizen Stories as you go through the game
- Ignore all side quests (a few are forced to advance story, that’s fine)
- When reaching point of no return make a backup save in PS+ Cloud, you need it for other endings
Step 2: Download your PS Cloud Save, Do Royalist Ending
Once you’ve completed the story, download your save from PS Cloud (PS5 Settings > Saved Data and Game/App Settings > Saved Data (PS5) > Cloud Storage > Download to Console Storage > Steelrising > Download). This time you’ll want to get the 2nd Ending for Royalist.
To get this ending you must do the following 4 side quests and make the following choices during them:
- Gunpowder Trail – Do nothing when finding the gunpowder
- Glory and Dishonor – Obey La Fayette and don’t reveal conspiracy
- The Lanterns of the Dead – Collect cannonball and complete the quest
- For the Future of the Kingdom – Complete quest
After this, continue to defeat the endboss Iron Queen again, the trophy will unlock after that.
Step 3: Download your PS Cloud Save, Complete all Missing Side Quests, Collect Outfits, and Unlock Miscellaneous Trophies
Once you’ve completed the Royalist ending, download your save from PS Cloud again. Now you can safely complete all missing side quests, with special attention to The bodyguard. Check the trophy description for the steps to safely obtaining this trophy. During this step, because you can free roam all of Paris again, find missing Outfits and unlock whichever miscellaneous trophy you’re still missing. For Outfits refer to Steelrising – All Outfit Locations.
Step 4: Go Back to Versailles, Find the Last Athenais’s Echo and Oil Burette Upgrade Material, Unlock The Bodyguard and Blacksmith trophies, Farm Kills
Once you’ve completed all side quests, you are safe to go to Versailles one more time. While in Versailles, you can pick up Athenais’s last echo and the last upgrade material for the Oil Burette, which should unlock Résurgence and
Professional Care respectively. Refer to
Résurgence and Steelrising – All Oil Burette Upgrade Locations for more information. While in Versailles, you must also collect the Queen’s echo memories to unlock
The bodyguard and upgrade one weapon from each class to tier 5 for
Blacksmith. You can still unlock Blacksmith here because the last Oricalchum is dropped by the final Unstable Automat in the labyrinth. After defeating it, interact with the Vestal. Should you still need them, this spot is great for farming kills because there are 6 low-level Prototype enemies who stand still and do nothing and you can use the Vestal to reset the area and buy consumables. Before going for any of the combat trophies you can make another backup to PS Cloud, this way you can reload the save and get your Anima Essence back to buy or upgrade whatever you need for the next trophy. Once you’re done with all combat-related trophies, you should have the platinum.
General Gameplay Tips:
Here are some general tips to make your playthrough easier:
- When leveling up, rotate your Anima Essence allocation between Power (damage output), Durability (health) and Vigor (stamina). You can level up Agility a couple of times, but Elemental Alchemy and Engineering can be ignored. Occasionally, use your Anima Essence to upgrade your weapons. When Power, Durability, and Vigor are all a couple of points away from 10 and your weapons are fully maxed out, your Anima Essence can now safely be used to buy consumables, specifically Improved Explosive Grenades for quick boss fights.
- Avoid Heavy Weapons. These are fairly slow and won’t deal any more damage than fully maxed-out Medium Weapons. A great loadout is the Falchion and Sabre (found in a chest in Saint-Cloud in the area just before the dock) and the Requiem Mallet (found in the room where you need to decide what to do with the dynamite). The first is a Medium Weapon, allowing for swift combos and Blade Tornado as its Special Move, which is basically a quick flurry of dancing attacks that doesn’t consume much Stamina. The second one is a Heavy Weapon that even at its lowest ranks deals considerable damage when using its Special Move, Ranged Attack. You can easily beat the game with only these two weapons and just focus on upgrading them. If you feel like experimenting, you’re welcome to try any other Medium Weapons such as Claws, Fans, or Daggers, but Heavy Weapons are just not worth your while.
- While exploring, you will notice some blocked-up paths and areas that you cannot visit on your first run through the districts. This is intended and you need to come back here after unlocking the hook and the kick to bring down walls (both story-related unlocks).
- Never ignore Unstable Automats (all on story and side quest related paths). Unstable Automats are a bigger, more rogue version of standard street-level automats. You know you’re close to one because you’ll start seeing blue fog everywhere. Fighting and eliminating them all counts for
Stabilizer. If you’ve fought them all before Versailles, the last one will be in the labyrinth in Versailles itself.
- Don’t forget to loot enemies, especially Titan bosses. These drop a precious material called Oricalchum, which is essential to upgrading weapons to the highest tier and unlocking
Blacksmith. This material only drops after boss fights and may disappear if not looted immediately after the boss fight. It can be bought from Vestals, but there’s only a few samples.

So, to avoid this, stay fairly close to him. Keep dodging until he kneels to the ground to reveal the bottom of the globe he rolls on. When he does, land an During Phase 2 (marked by when he releases steam from his head), he will try hitting you with his spinning blades. 2-3 dodges right before he’s about to hit you are enough to avoid damage. Wait until he tires down and then During Phase 3 (marked by a small explosion at the bottom of the globe), he will try hitting you with his spinning blades again, but this time they will leave a trail of fire behind them. Dodge his attacks and jump to avoid getting damage from the fire trails. Again, wait until he tires down and then This boss fight is not too bad as long as you keep dodging him. |

Unmissable, story-related unlock. The Alchemist of Luxembourg is the third Titan boss of the game. This boss fight tests your dodging and quick reflex skills and it’s one quick phase. For the entire fight, he will try to swing his mace at you and cast fulmination and fire attacks. The best strategy is to stay fairly close to his legs and continuously go around him. If you can, try to corner him into a wall. This somehow confuses him, leaving you open for more attack combos. This is not a particularly challenging fight due to him standing fairly still and moving rather slowly. If you want to make this boss fight a joke, you can always buy some Improved Explosive Grenades if you can afford them. You should have enough Anima Essence by this point of the game.

![]() |
Unmissable, story-related unlock. The Treasurer of Les Invalides is the fourth Titan boss of the game. This boss fights tests your dodging and quick reflex skills and it’s one quick phase. ![]() |
Unmissable, story-related unlock. The Centaur of Montmartre is the fifth Titan boss of the game. This boss fight tests your dodging and quick reflect skills and it’s one quick phase. The Centaur uses a combination of spear and AOE attacks, with the occasional use of fire. Focus on landing just a couple of hits and then stand back and dodge. Additionally, avoid getting caught in his ring of fire when he’s about to cast it. If you want to make this boss fight a joke, you can always buy some Improved Explosive Grenades if you can afford them. You should have enough Anima Essence by this point of the game.

Unmissable, story-related unlock. The Executioner of the Bastille is the sixth Titan boss of the game. This boss fight tests your dodging and quick reflect skills and it’s one quick phase. The Executioner uses a combination of mace and AOE attacks, prevailing fulmination as element. Focus on landing just a couple of hits and then stand back and dodge. Additionally, avoid getting caught in his mace swinging and stomped on when he jumps into the sky. Keeping your distance here is key. If you want to make this boss fight a joke, you can always buy some Improved Explosive Grenades if you can afford them. You should have enough Anima Essence by this point of the game.

Then finish the game without side quests to pop the trophy, afterward you can download the old save from PS+ to copy it back to the console and then mop up remaining side quests and other trophies from there. |

They can also be bought at Vestal, so if you still need to unlock this trophy by the end of the game, you can back up your save to the PS Cloud (PS5 Settings > Saved Data and Game/App Settings > Saved Data (PS5) > Console Storage > Upload to Cloud Storage), purchase however many Module Keys you’re left with, unlock the final levels and the trophy and then download your save back to get your Anima Essence back. Once all slots are level 3, you can equip any level 3 module from the Modules tab in the Main Menu.

David vs. Goliath Kill an enemy with a cobblestone |
![]() |
Scattered around Paris are cobblestones that can be used to finish off enemies. They can also be bought at Vestals. To kill an enemy with a cobblestone, drop its health until he’s about to die and then cast a cobblestone at it. If its health was really low, it should die from it. This is best done on low-level enemies like Prototypes and it may require some luck.

MISSABLE
This trophy is missable if you don’t immediately pick up the loot dropped by Unstable Automats and Titan bosses (starting with the Alchemist of Luxembourg). These bosses drop an essential material called Oricalchum, which is needed to upgrade a weapon to its highest tier. If you don’t pick the loot up immediately, there’s high chance of it disappearing completely from the game, even if you go back to the boss arena. We’re not sure if this is intended or a bug, but better to be safe than sorry and pick the loot up right after the boss fight. One more confusing aspect to this trophy is that in the game there are 8 classes, and not 7. Below is a list of all classes and an example weapon you can upgrade to unlock this trophy.

This trophy will unlock almost naturally, so don’t worry about it, especially if your equipped weapon has Blade Tornado as its Special Move. Blade Tornado is a flurry of attacks that will hit whichever enemy is in your weapon’s way. Anytime any melee attack hits three or more enemies at once it will count towards the total. Hidden enemies are enemies hiding in the environment (mostly walls or ceilings) and will attack you if they see you. The best type of hidden enemy are the Serpents, often crawling or standing still on ceilings waiting to attack you by surprise. Whenever you see one, especially when you visit the Sewers, shoot it with a Musket. Repeat as many times as needed for the trophy to unlock.

Completionist Finish the game without using the Oil Burette (after the tutorial) |
![]() |
To unlock this trophy, you must reach the end of the game without using the Oil Burette, the game’s main healing tool. Additionally, to unlock this trophy you must NOT play on Assist Mode. When used, the Oil Burette immediately restores a chunk of your health, depending on its Potency. Shortly after the start of the game, you will be given the opportunity to equip it. Don’t equip it, but choose any other consumable or item to replace the Oil Burette with. You don’t want the Oil Burette in your quick selection menu and accidentally use it, thus voiding an entire run. To restore health, you can only use Oil Vials, found in the wild, dropped by enemies, or buyable from Vestals for only 100 Anima Essence a piece. There’s a very generous number of Oil Vials at stores, but bear in mind that you can run out. As opposed to the Oil Burette which restores your health immediately, these will restore your health over a 20-second timespan. Just make sure you always stack up on these whenever you can, especially before boss fights or annoying enemy areas. If everything goes according to plan, this trophy should unlock during the Luxembourg loading screen at the end of the game.

Changelog:
- 2022-09-21: The patch 1.03 notes mention that trophies can now be earned in Assist Mode. This has been tested in a new playthrough and several trophies are still blocked in assist mode, meaning that you must still play everything in Normal Mode like it was before. The Anima duplication glitch was also removed in Patch 1.03.
- 2022-09-25: Adjustments made to Royalist trophy description, it is now known that a few very specific choices are necessary and simply completing the side quests tied to it isn’t enough. Made it its own Step in the Roadmap (Step 2) to simplify it. Added a screenshot of Point of No Return to Roadmap Step 1 and added a quick bullet point summary to Step 1 to make it easier to remember what’s important.
jdv95 says
tnx for the work once again!
for the glitched trophy,is there a work around fix for it? (back up save most likely i assume) since you where able to get the trophy.
FranciRoosters says
Making frequent back-ups for this game is highly recommended anyway given how everything is missable. For the glitches, there are no known workarounds for the time being. You can always make a manual back-up save before the glitched trophy sections, so you can reload that save when Spiders releases a fix.
d3mystic says
Is that difficulty rating for someone who has never played a souls game? Or for those who have delved into or at least familiar with them?
FranciRoosters says
For both.
Killer says
Alot of missables !! Can i do all missables before the last main mission?
FranciRoosters says
Technically, yes. But this is not yet 100% certain. We’re still looking into it.
MM says
Has anyone else run into the issue of not being able to buy Oil Vials from the boutique at vestals??? It let me buy like 10, and now it just doesn’t show up as available in my boutique anymore!
I’m not sure what to do other than try uninstalling and reinstalling….
And to think I bought the $60 version, lol.
FranciRoosters says
Oil Vials can run out if you’ve purchased them all from a Vestal. However, the horseless carriage has a different stock. Try there.
Hector says
I’m having the same issue. But I have not made it far enough to buy the upgraded version.
I’m literally out of vials using the heal on critical module and buying immobilization grenades.
White Corvid says
As you continue on to different locations and vestals you will find more to buy. You can eventually run out but you’d have to use a hell of a lot. Also, they can be farmed.
Kyle S. says
I think it should be stated in the “Love Before Money” quest line, that you can do BOTH side quests at the same time. Just make sure you don’t COMPLETE the bonds quest BEFORE his wife’s quest. I just did this on my Series X. I turned in both quests at the same time and was rewarded the achievement “Love Before Money” after telling him about his money and his wife.
FranciRoosters says
This is in the guide. You need to find his wife first and then the bonds. For the trophy, it doesn’t matter what you tell him first.
Kyle S. says
You can do them in any order. I got the bonds BEFORE finding his wife.
Unless it glitched for me?
FranciRoosters says
Finding the wife first is part of the trophy requirement. If you go to the bonds’ location, the trophy may not unlock. As for what you decide to tell him first, this has no impact on the trophy.
Killbomb says
I found the bonds first, told Necker about it, found his wife’s note later, told Necker about that and then finally decided what to do with the bonds and still got the Love Before Money achievement on Xbox.
JH0604 says
Just some information about “The Bodyguard” trophy: If you beat the Mad Titan then collect all the echoes of The Queen in Versailles, the trophy should pop up.
I just did collect all the echo for “Savior” trophy and it pop up for me.
FranciRoosters says
I’ll test it. What dialogue option did you choose after defeating the Mad Titan?
FranciRoosters says
I’ve tested it and it didn’t unlock for me.
DarkSchneider-S- says
The Bodyguard trophy pop for me as you said i told the queen the truth about her son and when i looted the last echo including Athenaïs’s echoes bam poped up thx man <3
FranciRoosters says
Thanks for confirming!
Hector says
It should say in the guide, Ordinary Oil Vials are not unlimited in stock. Once they run out you cannot buy anymore. I’m stuck without healing at the moment.
FranciRoosters says
Good point, guide updated.
MM says
Once I figured out they were limited, I restarted my game. Then I started playing to not heal, lol. I just finished the third area and have 113. Can’t wait to beat the story the first time so I can heal without stock management!
FranciRoosters says
You can infinitely heal if you use the glitch highlighted in the guide.
Anubis says
I think trophy “Friend of the people” is buged (at least for me) or is it highly missable. I missed 2 stories in my step 1 so i back to them in step 2 and when i back to doctor in The Tuileries he said” it’s too late and patient died and he couldn’t save him and he hope you help others”, and that’s it. I check twice all location and no trophy. So i think you have to do it right away befeore you go with story to far or will be to late.
FranciRoosters says
Thank you for this. The game has so much missable and bugged content that what happened to you could be very well either. I’m sorry for the inconvenience.
Marty says
That doctor does mention he needs the supplies within the hour. But that item is in another district. Maybe as soon as you get that item and return to the doctor it will work.
I already spoke to the doctor and played more then an hour after that. Hopefully is stilll works when I get the item
Marty says
Before I went to the cordeliers convent I went back to the doctor and he said I was an angel for bringing the equipment and that I had to leave him alone so he could do the surgery.
HashMeIfYouCan says
Same for me. Unfortunate if there isn’t any workaround as i’m sure this is my last missing citizen plot.
Hj says
The best thing to do for the doctor quest is to just stand by the door and have him start talking, DO NOT PRESS Y TO TALK TO HIM YET, instead, beat the Luxemburg boss and go get the doctors item near the vestal afyer the boss fight, it will be part of the delphine quest. After you grab it, go back and then press y to talk to him for the fort time.
Bamalex says
Titan assassin seems glitched.
The description basically says any titan, but on the one in Les Invalides it does not unlock.
DynzelWashington says
I also found the Titan Assassin trophy is glitched. I’ve beaten most without using the burette and without healing in general. Also tried with it equipped and without. And it hasn’t popped.
Jhoakim says
Same for me… Killed both the Centaur and Executioner without ANY healing oil on my belt… only sadness
TidusTheGame says
VERY OP GLITCH:
1. Assign any consumable to your belt
2. in-game, press square and very quickly open the equipment menu
3. The item will be used, but not consumed.
This in effect gives you infinite anima, oil vial heals, and grenades.
The difficulty is now a 1 until patched :D
FranciRoosters says
This is indeed working, thanks for making it known, but it will get patched for sure.
Anubis says
also worth to mention very importent thing that both trophies “Royalist” and “Apprentice journalist” are mutually exclusive. You can’t get both in the same save. If you do choices for Apprentice journalist you WON’T get Royalist. I’ve done all side mission, get all trophies (exept bodyguard) but no Royalist, apparently for “Royalist” you have to make opposite choices Obey>don’t reveal conspiracy. I don’t think it’s glitch cuz in both cases there’s two different cutscens at the end.
FranciRoosters says
This is possible. The trigger to the La Fayette ending (Royalist trophy) is to do all side quests. In my second playthrough I unlocked Apprentice Journalist and still got the La Fayette ending.
Anubis says
It’s weird cuz i’ve done all quest and get all trophy like it should but no Royalist, i’ve got different cutscen where they refuse to elect him. Or i have huge bad luck or there’s something else to do.
FranciRoosters says
There could be a secret requirement we haven’t figured out yet that is necessary to unlock Royalist no matter what. However, given the buggy nature of the game, you might have as well run into the umpteenth bug.
Marty says
Same here, all sidequests done, no royalist trophy at the end
FranciRoosters says
This may be a bug.
Marty says
Mirabeau was selected for me so no Royalist. Maybe it has something to do with the gun. It did not spawn for me
Marty says
Sorry for the 3 posts
What did you do with the bonds? Give it to La Fayette?
Hector says
You can complete apprentice journalist if you don’t reveal the contents of the Manifesto.
Hector says
Give the bonds to Robespierre in any situation. Since you can still get royalist anyways. You can setup the back up save so you can get both endings. The main decision is to reveal the conspiracy or not. I even did the “Fir the future of the kingdom quest and was still able to get incorruptible ending.
Jo says
I agree that “Apprentice journalist” and “Royalist” can’t be gained in the same playthrough. You get the trophy “Apprentice journalist” only if you reveal La Fayette’s conspiracy and if you hand out the manifesto to Marat. In order to get the “Royalist” achievement you have to give the evidence to La Fayette.
And the bonds are not relevant for the Royalist trophy either. I kept the bonds and didn’t give them to anybody, but I got the “Royalist” trophy in the end. I followed the recommendation below:
IX_Edinho_XI says
September 12, 2022 at 12:46 pm
You didn’t need to do all side quests for the royalist trophy. just do this 4:
Gunpowder-trail – Do nothing when finding the gunpowder
Glory and Dishoner – Obey La Fayette and dont reveal conspiracy
The lanters of the dead – Collect cannonball and complete the quest
For the future of the kingdom – Complete quest
JDLLLLL says
Do you found the key to a locked gate, Saint Antoine?
Bastille
FranciRoosters says
No, it is believed to be the DLC area, pending confirmation.
JDLLLLL says
I can’t unlock the Professional care
Shabyoob says
I could not complete ‘A family Affair’ because I did Necker’s quest before it, it caused Mirabeau to go back to his town house, and the quest can not be completed. Therefore it voided ‘The bodygaurd’, ‘Automat at your service’, and ‘Shield of the Cordeliers’. Would be good to add an optimal order/sequence for the side quests.
FranciRoosters says
If you read the description under The Bodyguard trophy, I’ve explained in detail in what order these quests must be taken on. Those two are the only ones that cancel one another.
Shabyoob says
Yes I did exactly that. I found the countess in bastille and was then tasked to find the wallet. I finished necker’s quest before finding and handing in the wallet. After I handed in the wallet, I was asked to find the letter, at this stage I couldn’t hand in the letter because he left to his townhouse and doesn’t have an option to take the letter.
FranciRoosters says
This is most likely a bug because the game gives no explanation whatsoever as to why Mirabeau would leave.
Hector says
For me Mirabeau left with doing any side quests. I spoke to him In the Convent and he said he had to go. Another cutscene triggered where all the other members where asking about him, and talking about been suspicious of him leaving without explanation.
This platinum is driving me nuts.
Varkovsky says
I picked up the crumpled letter but didn’t talk to Mirabeau about to the Dauphin. I left the Tuillerie to go to Luxembourg but immediately left and went back to Mirabeau’s house but he’s not there anymore. Does this mean I am locked out of A Family Affair and the Dauphin quest?
FranciRoosters says
If he’s not at Cordeliers Convent either and has completely disappeared, check later after meeting the requirements of some of the other quests. If he doesn’t spawn back at all, I’m afraid you’re locked out of the two quests, yes.
Varkovsky says
Ok I got to the convent and Mirabeau is there but he doesn’t give me the the option to talk about the crumpled letter thus A Family Affair can’t be started. Ugh can’t believe this.
I have another question. So the Dauphin quest trophy can only be earned by doing Family Affair as well? I am thinking whether to restart this playthrough or I can still continue and get the Dauphin trophy then do another playthrough just for Family Affair.
FranciRoosters says
I know for sure that A Family Affair can only be started at Mirabeau’s house in the Tuilieres. As for your question, yes. Get the Dauphin trophy (provided you started A Family Affair and it didn’t bug out for you) and then start another one to quickly get the A Family Affair trophy if need be. For your second playthrough you can even rush through the game ignoring enemies and make yourself OP by means of the Anima Essence glitch. Do it as early as you can before it gets patched though.
someguy says
“I know for sure that A Family Affair can only be started at Mirabeau’s house in the Tuilieres”
That’s not true, I started the quest at the Convent. This was before going to the Bastille (the game warns you about a “fake” point of no return).
Marty says
I’m speaking to Mirabeau at the convent about the crumbled letter after defeating the treasurer of les invalides.
So it is possible you can start the quest outside of Tuilliere
On a side note:
After fighting the treasurer of Les Invalides you have the option to escort that person to the convent or not. I think you should not escort him because you won’t be able to pick up the orichalcum. (If it indeeds dissappears)
Hector says
Have anyone found which side quest should be avoided for the Robespierre ending?
Foremanskin says
Is the Blacksmith trophy bugged too? I have upgraded 7 different weapon types many times but it just doesn’t pop. Or do batons not count for this trophy? The shock batons were my weapon of choice and I upgraded them to max ASAP, but now no matter which other 6 classes I upgrade, I can’t get this trophy.
I would hate to do another run just because orichalcum and bismuth blocks are non farmable.
Hector says
What other 6 weapons you upgraded?
Sterndiamond says
I’ve upgraded even the ones mentioned but won’t pop…
FuckAllDevs says
Same for me, I am so sick of devs releasing broken games.
FranciRoosters says
Did you also perhaps upgrade a Musket? Because I’m afraid Muskets and Batons are the same category (Guns).
Klezzon says
Do you know if there is a orichalcum in Versailles ? – I have 6 in total and i belive i didn’t get a Titan drop…
FranciRoosters says
Yes, one is dropped by the Unstable Automat in the labyrinth.
Foremanskin says
I do have a musket upgraded, but that being the same weapon type as the batons makes no sense at all. What the hell were the devs smoking??? You would think batons are more akin to dual swords instead of a gun that, you know, shoots bullets?… Well anyways, I gave up and started a new playthrough.
Hector says
If batons and muskets are the same thing to the devs, then I’m screwed as well. My build is composed of max Hephaestus Barton’s and Ice Musket. ??♂️
FranciRoosters says
Do you have any Oricalchum to spare?
Hector says
I got the trophy. My weapons were: 1. Hephasteus baton.
2. Ice Musket
3. A thousand cuts Claws
4. Falcon and Sabre
5. Fire chain
6. Ice Fans
7. Volley mallet
carsydtonney says
I finished the game last night, and had upgraded all of the following weapons to max (apologies for not remembering all proper names) but the trophy never popped: Ice Batons, Ice Musket, Fire Chain, Fire and Ice dual swords, Nemesis Fan, Ice Clock thing, Body of Work, Electric Halberd, Franklin Claws (electric ones). And when I killed the last boss, I got another Orichalcum that I would have used to upgrade something but it immediately went into the final cutscene, so I didn’t get a chance. I was guessing the issue for me might have been the Fire and Ice dual swords because they don’t seem to get any of the Module buffs for counters, so I wondered if they were improperly flagged by the game somehow and weren’t being counted. But since I couldn’t upgrade another Dual Sword to test before the game kicked me into the credits, I’m not sure.
FranciRoosters says
Do you have a previous save you can download back to your console to try again with different weapons?
Alessio says
>>>I got the trophy. My weapons were: 1. Hephasteus baton.
2. Ice Musket
3. A thousand cuts Claws
4. Falcon and Sabre
5. Fire chain
6. Ice Fans
7. Volley mallet
Since you upgraded both Hephaestus baton and Ice Musket, then the DLC chain doesn’t count as well… Because I upgraded 8 weapons and didn’t get the achievement:
Wheel of Vengeance (doesn’t count)
Discus chain (DLC)
Ice fans
Hephaestus batons
Ice musket
Fire and Ice
Romas partisan
Body of Work
Jo says
I got the trophy with the following level-5 upgrades:
Floret and Paper-Dagger
Discus-Chain
Nemesis-Fan
Nemesis-Claw
Royale Muskete 1789
Gribeauval-Halberd
Volley Mallet
Before I upgraded the weapons above, I used Hephasteus baton instead of the Volley mallet, but I didn’t get the trophy. So something doesn’t seem to work with batons.
With regard to Alessios note: the Discus-chain counts. It is not DLC related. Maybe you mixed it up with the Gribeauval-Helbard, which was a bonus for pre-order. But this weapon also counts.
Jo says
Just a correction: the Gribeauval-Halberd was not a pre-order bonus.
The Discus-Chain is included in the Bastille-Edition of the game. But it is not DLC related. Regardless of that both weapons count for the Blacksmith trophy.
Larsenic says
Hello guys, i don’t understand, i didn’t get the Steam Succes “Blacksmith” because i didn’t upgrade all my weapons before kill LAST boss and got kick in End Credit..
SO, i did a new game+ to collect orichalcum and upgrade more weapon.. BUT i still don’t gain the Steam Succes “Blacksmith” while i upgrade legit 10 Weapon lvl 5 (even all the Name u said) .. is it that’s because i don’t work if upgraded a weapon which i droped in NG+ ?? i mean, should i upgrade all the SAME weapon in the SAME game (ex: Volley Mallet drop and maxed in 1st run & Falcan and Saber droped and maxed in NG+ doesn’t count together)
idk if u understnd what i’m saying but that’s kinda frustring because that’s the LAST succes before plat and its bugged .. i’m sad ..
NEED HELP
IX_Edinho_XI says

Glory and Dishoner – Obey La Fayette and dont reveal conspiracy
The lanters of the dead – Collect cannonball and complete the quest

Foremanskin says
I can confirm this works.
Jo says
For the trophy “Blacksmith” you missed the Volley Mallet. I don’t think it is a separate category, so it may be that it belongs to the same category as Halberds. But the category should therefore be called either Two-handed Weapons/Distance Weapons/Heavy Weapons.
Jo says
Sorry, I see you list Volley Mallet as an example for Maces, but that can’t be correct either. The category you actually missed is “Batons” as a one-handed weapon, like the “Glass-core Batons”, or where would this be counted?
FranciRoosters says
I think Batons and Musket are the same category (Guns), but there’s no 100% confirmation given the lack of weapon class specification.
Jo says
I checked the Volley Mallet in the game. Even though it is a heavy weapon, Aegis uses only one hand. It is a bit confusing and a pitty Spiders did not give clear information about the weapon categories in the game (i.e. when you open the weapon details). So perhaps maces and batons are one category.
FranciRoosters says
Maybe, I also went by the stance that Aegis takes when you switch weapon.
aeGis says
Thank you for the guide.
Does anyone know where the leather wallet location is for Mirabeau’s questline? The journal entry says it should be somewhere in the Tuileries: Quartier De Saint-Eustache, but there is no compass marking to follow. I’ve searched around the area and came across a locked door for a workshop, but no key to be found.
Hj says
It’s found in the Flamels missions, the one where you go to the inbetween. You’ll go to a workshop during the side quest and the wallet is there.
Wandering Gamer says
Hey guys. I didnt find the wallet of Marquis yet. Its in a locked workshop. I havent done any side quests yet. Family affair is my first one. Can someone let me know how to open it,?
Darklight says
I’ve just finished the game without Incorruptible & Loyalist achievements… bugged too? I made all side quest so i expected to get Loyalist at least.
Jo says
In your general gameplay tipps about the crafting material you say Orichalcum can’t be bought from the Vestals. But that is not correct. For example you can buy it from the Vestal in the Bastille for 7500 Anima Essence. I’m sure I also saw it before. If you need proof I can send a screen-shot.
Quote: “5. Don’t forget to loot enemies, especially Titan bosses. These drop a precious material called Oricalchum, which is essential to upgrading weapons to the highest tier and unlocking
Blacksmith. This material only drops after boss fights and may disappear if not looted immediately after the boss fight. It can’t be bought from Vestals either.”
FranciRoosters says
You’re correct. What I meant to write was that it can be only bought in limited quantities. Guide is fixed! Thanks!
Pdc says
You can get extra materials from the dlc. After you kill the executioner in bastille, talk to the abbot where all the quest givers are. You will get a new quest to go into a new area called callistos secrets. The titan boss at the end drops a oric stone.
kingpinka says
Quest Maribo, there are no two pistols next to the safe. Tried all the ways
FranciRoosters says
Unsurprisingly, this sounds like a bug. I had it too and had to start a new playthrough for that quest only.
I like GABAGOOL says
So,
Completed Mirabeaus “A Family Affair”- when Necker’s safe quest began and Mirabeau left back to his house, I followed him there, and for whatever reason, it readded “A Family Affair” back to my To Do list.
Completed all the quests, “Shield of the Cordeliers” wont pop prior to leaving.
Does earning bodyguard in Versailles cause it to pop?
FranciRoosters says
No, the “A Family Affair” trophy must pop while in Paris. It won’t pop as a result of earning The Bodyguard in Versailles.
Alessio says
Love before money
This trophy is missable if you find Necker’s bonds before her wife’s corpse.
*his
And you don’t find a corpse, but her letter informing that she’s fine.
FranciRoosters says
Good point, thanks!
Alessio says
There are actually 9 weapon classes, you missed batons.
And, of course, one of my 7 upgraded weapons is a wheel that voids the achievement… I wish I found this guide earlier. Are there only 7 orichalcum ingots in total? I’m currently cleaning up before going to Versailles, so will I get another one there?
FranciRoosters says
Batons and Muskets seem to both categorise under Guns and yes you will find another Oricalchum in Versailles, dropped by the Unstable Automat.
Karel says
You could buy additional material (bronze, iron, bismuth, orichalcum) to upgrade weapons your missing at one of the last Vestal (where you fight the last unstable automat) in Versailles.
I also bought some extra outfits at that Vestal. Not sure if they count for the trophy. The outfit trophy hasn’t popped for me yet.
Alessio says
You actually get another orichalcum from the last boss, but can’t use it, unfortunately.
As for the batons and muskets, they do not count as separate classes indeed. I upgraded 8 weapons in total, including one of each wheel, baton and musket, and didn’t get the achievement.
There’s also a slight chance that the DLC chain is not counted as well, since it was among my weapons. Can anyone else confirm this?
Jo says
You can buy two extra orichalcum ingots in the horseless carriage after you have beaten Orpheus. However, you must buy them before you leave Saint-Cloud and travel to any other location. Once you have travelled the orichalcum will be gone even if you go back to Saint-Cloud. Each costs only 6000 anima essence – I don’t know if this was a glitch or not. With the new patch installed I will test this again. Screenshot available as proof.
Carlos Rodriguez says
The trophy Royalist bugged out on me. I have 46 out of 50 by doing the back up saves and what not. But cannot get this one to pop and it’s the only one I need to get plat (other then the outfits)
Any idea why this could be happening? I saved the 2 side quest the didn’t deal with la fayette so I could pop the rest and then reloaded My cloud save to complete all side quest and still can’t get it to pop
James says
The Royalist trophy didn’t pop for me… is that because I failed to give Lafayette the dynamite?
The cutscene was different but still no trophy.
Hector says
Royalist unlocks if you don’t expose Lafayette conspiracy and complet For the future of the Kingdom Quest.
GM says
Hi does anyone know how to backtrack to the very beginning of Saint Cloud? I know how to travel back on the carriage where you jump over the broken bridge, but after finding the key to the gate( where you get the boat to Paris) and going through the forest you come to the slope you had to slide down and you can’t climb back up? I seem to remember there was a breakable wall earlier in this level that couldn’t be accessed until you get the ram upgrade but I can’t get back to it, did I miss something? And maybe this is where some clothing items are placed?
Alessio says
There’s another gate on the pier that will automatically unlock when you SPOILER AHEAD receive a distress letter from the queen and start a corresponding side quest.
Marty says
Nothing there except 2 enemies and 2 items, cast iron and I forgot the other one. No clothing.
You can get back when you have to go back for the in memory of the dauphin side mission.
Hector says
You have to get the quest we’re the queen sends you a letter asking for help. I think you have to complete Mirabeau Family Affairs to get the requirements for her to send you the letter. Then in the quest you get the key to open a gate that’s the only way to get back into the beginning area.

Thanks for all the replies

Hey,
a question about the “Bodyguard” trophy:
Should I wait until I complete the main story to complete the quest steps? So just step 1 of the quest (pick up the note , read letter) and then wait until after the story? Or continue straight away?
Mike says
I think we have to do these steps as they become available, but Bailly didn’t show up at the convent for me to question him at the same time as the Vitriol/acid.

>>>Completionist
Finish the game without using the Oil Burette (after the tutorial)
Yet another achievement with a misleading description… I’ve used it only ONCE when the game told me so during the tutorial (assuming that was the only way to close the tutorial window) and then removed it from the quick access belt for the rest of the game. Didn’t get the achievement in the end.
What was the point of adding that ambiguous phrase in the description?
Savon says
I’m not getting ‘Finish him’. not sure if it’s bugged or what. I’m using Luxemboug for the ones where you need to kill or inflict ‘x’ amount of enemies with whatever. There are 3 enemies together a few feet up from the carriage and I’ve spend way over 100 petrification grenades on them. Seems like I’m not getting the ‘Musketeer’ one either. Yes I’m using a weapon that has the special ‘ranged attack’. I’m using the ‘Saint Elmo Batons’. You only need 20 kills and I’ve been stunning them with nades and killing them with the special at least 100x’s.
pdc says
i couldnt get batons to work either. i used the polearm weapon with the ranged attack in it worked.
tidal_rider says
For Finish him, you need to freeze them.
For Musketeer, you need a weapon without special effect. (no ice, fire, etc, only bullet damage)
Bolshack says
Finish him:
Do you use the glitch for the Stun grenades?(infinite grenades)
I think you have to stun them without the glitch.
Musketeer:
try to use the hellbarde (i dont Know the Name of it) with Range attack, it worked for me only with the hellbarde.
Marty says
Musketeer: range attack with L2
Finish him: you need to kill them as well when they are immobilized

There’s an item pickup in Saint-Cloud that I cannot reach. When you return later in the game and drop down the hole into the crypt. Grapple out of the crypt and just go straight ahead. At the base of the tree facing the water, there’s an item that I can’t pick up. For some reason, Aegis just can’t quite get close enough to the item to pick it up; it seems like the geometry on the tree is wrong. Has anyone managed to pick that item up? If so, what is it? If not, maybe it’s the missing two clothing items?
FranciRoosters says
Yes, I couldn’t pick that item either in any of my 4 playthroughs, but thanks to the recent update, we now know it’s not the missing outfit pieces.
Merrim says
It is possible to do The bodyguard and Incorruptible in the same playthrough?
Merrim says
I answer myself, yes, they can be done in the same playtrough.
Marty says
Fashion victim is obtainable. You get the two costume pieces when loading your save file.
Duplication glitch is patched aswell
FranciRoosters says
Correct.
Korven54 says
Nothing for me
JamesJ says
So assist mode doesn’t lock you out of trophies now.? As of latest update?
JamesJ says
NVM, my mistake. I noticed the change in the initial description. Thanks for updating the guide!
Fletchrocket says
Does anyone know if the bodyguard and royalist are obtainable in assist mode? Those are the last two trophies I need. The bodyguard I just didn’t read carefully enough, but I did all the side quests and didn’t get the royalist ending. It’s probably because I outed Lafayette in Marand’s quest. I really don’t want to do a full playthrough again.
Felbehind says
I was able to get Bodyguard in assist mode but I think you are locked out of the royalist ending because you outed Lafayette (I did the same thing and Mirabeau was made in charge).
Felbehind says
I wasn’t able to get Finish Him or The Aegis on assist mode, tried for hours and then went into a new game without assist mode and popped them easily.
Carlos Rodriguez says
Is completionist obtainable after new update on assist mode?
Only way I’ll do it as I have 48/50 trophies and do not feel like playing the game again for 20+ hours lol
Dix3n says
A Family Affair – It says i should tell the Comte de Mirabeau that Monseigneur de la Fare will not violate the secrecy of the confession. the compass points me to Mirabeaus house, and he is in his house, but when i talk to him, Aegis just keeps saying “I’m going to have a look around, with your permission of course.” and the dialogue ends. Any idea what to do ? I finished the Neckers questline and got the trophy for that. I also have the Duelling Pistols that i’m supposed to question him about.

I have complete all citizens story )two times for control) and no pop. I have active conversation near bridge in LaCite and nothing can do and in Luxemburg near doctor office i kill all enemyes a citizens dont takl with me 🙁
Alessio says
So, after starting NG+ I have all 9 weapon types upgraded to level 5, and still no achievement.
maiden says
me too
Larsenic says
yo buddy did u find a way to gain the succes ? Do u think is it that’s because it don’t work if i upgraded a weapon which i droped in NG+ ?? i mean, should i upgrade all the SAME weapon in the SAME game (ex: Volley Mallet drop and maxed in 1st run & Falcon and Saber droped and maxed in NG+ doesn’t count together)
Do you tested to upgrade all weapon which u dropped ONLY in the NG+ X ?
xOnexTruthx says
After Update completionist worked in assistmode? Any Experience?
PowerPyx says
No, still doesn’t work in Assist Mode.

Can anyone that’s got the pyromaniac trophy confirm whether you just have to fill the gauge to ignite them or kill them via fire damage?
I swear I’ve done way more than 100 and no pop.
raithian25 says
You only need to ignite them.
I personally did the same locations recommended in the guide, in Versailles against the four enemies in the circular area where the unstable automat is. I chose to aggro all four enemies, strafe them until they were grouped together, then throw an Improved grenade to ignite many at once. If any didn’t ignite, I used a weapon with fire damage to finish off the ignition gauge. Once all four were ignited, I reset the area at the Vestal and did it again.
I did this same approach for Ice and Lightning too. There are weapons that do each type of damage (although the best lightning one I found had a lightning attack as the special attack).
Konkelator says
Hello,
First, thanks for your guide. As good as always ! I have an issue with the citizens trophy. 2nd time that I’ve done the story, while speaking to the citizens. But the trophy doesn’t unlick in the end.. If anyone had this issue, could he maybe help me. it’s unfortunately the last trophy I have to do in order to get the platinum 🙂 Thanks !
raithian25 says
The only thing I can think of is to make sure you’ve toggled through every line of dialogue for the citizen.
Personally, when I was at the citizen you run into in The Bastille only during the “A Family Affair” side quest, I was unable to toggle through the dialogue. The citizen had some lines of dialogue, then nothing.
I saved, quit, and reloaded, and I was able to press Triangle to toggle through the rest of the dialogue.
At least one other citizen (I can’t remember which) also required pressing Triangle to toggle through the dialogue, but it wouldn’t let me press Triangle until I hugged the window and pushed my character up some debris outside the window. Only then would the Triangle prompt appear.
So I recommend trying again, and make sure you toggle through them all. It may help to watch a YT video of them all to know which ones have dialogue to toggle through.

Step #4 of The Bodyguard trophy you say “Do NOT proceed with the main quests to Montmarte just yet because otherwise the gun won’t spawn inside the Louvre”.
Though you also say to not do any side-quests until after the save re-load after the first ending. I am concerned now about continuing the main quest to Montmarte as that is where the Main Quest is now telling me to go.
It’s very conflicting directions as to whether to continue on to Monmartre, or do some of a side-quest(s) before going there (like Neckers wife location).
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Is there any plan to make the Cagliostro’s Secrets DLC trophy guide?
kagi says
Where is Lavoisier?
StarPlat says
Hello there. First of all, thank you for this excellent guide.
Second, I was wondering about something in Step 2.
Suppose that I beat the four mentioned quests in Step 2, Do I go and upload the save data afterwards for Step 3? So that later on so that i do not redo the four quests in that step for the second time?
Or do i just use the save from Step 1 (the one with the unfinished four quests) for Step 3?
I apologize if this is a confusing question.
Thank you.
Ali says
I progressed beyond step #3 of the “The bodyguard” and currently at step #4 but didn’t initiate any conversation with any NPC. I have the letter in my inventory but didn’t reply to it. Did it missed it up or still I can proceed and get the trophy later?
Ali says
Never mind, I can’t respond to the letter.
It seems I need to play it for the 3rd time to platinum it.

A soulslike game with a trophy for not using ‘estus flasks’?! Hard pass, will get all the other trophys though
Panda-cool says
The game is actually super generous in healing items (and it is in general much easier than a Souls game), so it is really not an issue.
Lupus says
Warning: “Automat at your service” is very missable. If after getting the burned letter you choose to threaten him instead of asking, the quest will fail and you will loose the trophy.
Juliano Movio says
Yes, you can do it Marat’s Quest and the Incorrupeted ending.
I dont have plus, so I cant saving in cloud.
I do it the first run focus helping Lafayette and clean all quests and making the first ending.
Second run is a fast one, helping only Marat and finishing the game with givi me the second ending.
Marcus says
Great guide, another platinum to the bank. Souls game are so confusing when it comes to trophies, any miss step and you’re done, it is a complete miracle (and sure due to the good explanation in the guide) that did just a few things wrong but nothing permanent requiring a second playthrough.
Andre says
Anyone else having trouble with the Fashion Victim trophy? I believe i have all the outfits but nothing is popping up
SerahsArmpit says
Playing version 1.006.000 and a “duplication” glitch still works (add essence to quick item, jump in water, use item just before you die, gain anima, item isn’t used). But the game is balanced so that levels don’t really help that much.
