Introduction

Welcome to the Quake II (Quake 2) Trophy Guide! One of the classics of old-school FPS is back, and with more content to boot. In order to get Platinum, you need only complete the game and additional expansions. There are no miscellaneous or missable trophies, and nothing tied to difficulty, so you will unlock everything simply by playing through everything. To make things even easier, the game has Level Select available immediately, allowing you to play only the levels that unlock the trophies and skip the rest. The majority of Quake II will need to be played, but for the expansions and Quake II 64, you can play just the last 1-2 levels instead of the entire expansions.

While playing, you can utilize your Compass by bringing up the Item Wheel with :l1: and selecting it, which will show you where you need to go for the next objective, making it easy to find where to go if you get lost. You can also Quick Save with :r1: on the pause menu, and Quick Load with :l1: in the same fashion. The game doesn’t autosave so it’s recommended that you take advantage of quick saves as you play to avoid losing progress in the event you die.

Step 1: Complete Quake II on any difficulty

All trophies in this game come automatically from campaign progress for simply completing levels. The Quake II campaign will be the majority of the playtime here, as there are trophies tied to 9 of the 10 Units (which are a group of interconnected levels). Simply play through these normally from the start and you’ll get all trophies automatically from campaign progress. Or if you want you can do them in any order through Level Select, which will always start you with every weapon available at that point of the story. If you want you can skip over Unit 9: City, as there is no trophy tied to this unit.

Step 2: Complete Call of the Machine on any difficulty

Call of the Machine is a new expansion developed for this re-release. It has 8 levels, but for the one trophy here you will only need to complete the 8th level: Temple of the Creator.

Step 3: Complete The Reckoning on any difficulty

The Reckoning is the first of two expansions from the original game. There are 6 Units, but you will only need to complete Unit 6: Moon, which contains 2 levels.

Step 2: Complete Ground Zero on any difficulty

Ground Zero is the second of two expansions from the original game. There are 5 Units, but you will only need to complete Unit 5: Boss, which contains 1 level.

Step 5: Complete Quake II 64 on any difficulty

Quake II 64 was a port of the original Quake II that is considerably shorter. There are 6 Units, but you will only need to complete Unit 6: Command Core, which contains 2 levels.
