Zelda Tears of the Kingdom – How to Change Weapons

In The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (TotK) you can change your weapons, bows, and shields on the fly through a quick select menu. Here’s how you do it:

• Change Melee Weapon: Hold D-Pad RIGHT and use the Right Stick to change Melee Weapons
• Change Bow: Hold ZR-Button + D-Pad RIGHT + Right Stick to change Bow. To put away the bow press B-Button.
• Change Shield: Hold D-Pad LEFT and use the Right Stick to change Shields.
• Select/Drop Item: Hold D-Pad UP and press X-Button.
• Attach Item to Arrow: Hold ZR-Button + D-Pad UP + Right Stick. Let go off the UP-Button to attach the item. To cancel press B-Button.

Alternatively, you can also change the gear manually through the “+ Menu” by select “Equip” but this is the slower method.

Every enemy you defeat drops its equipment, which includes its any weapon or shield it held. This means you will always get a weapon from every enemy you defeat. Bows are dropped by archer type enemies that use Bows.
