Dragon Ball Z Kakarot How to Get Dragon Balls

January 16, 2020 by PowerPyx 7 Comments

In Dragon Ball Z Kakarot you can find 7 Dragon Balls and use them to summon Shenron. Then you can make a wish from Shenron. Making 10 Shenron Wishes unlocks the “Shenron’s Favorite” trophy or achievement. This guide explains how to get the Dragon Balls in DBZ Kakarot.

Step 1: Play through the story until you finish the Frieza Saga (2nd Saga). After this you get a tutorial screen that Dragon Balls have been unlocked and can now be found around the world. Before this point they cannot be found!

The Dragon Balls are mystical orbs that can grant anything the heart desires. When you’ve collected all seven of them, you’ll be able to make a wish from the Dragon Balls menu. You can wish for rare items or a large sum of Z Orbs, or even revive and power up enemies you’ve already defeated. However, the timing at which these wishes can be granted changes throughout the story. There will be limitations on wishes in the main story, but those limitations won’t be present during intermissions (free roam between each saga of the story); you’ll be able to make as many wishes as you want. However, making a wish will cause the Dragon Balls to become temporarily unavailable. They will be available again after twenty minutes of real-world time.

Step 2: You still need to find the Dragon Balls. The World Map will show an orange Dragon Ball icon on areas that have one or more Dragon Balls (the areas and specific spots they are found in are different for every player, hence there’s no use in listing the locations here). Luckily, they are marked on the area map for you by orange balls which makes them super easy to find. Sometimes their icon overlap with other icons on the map, remember you can zoom in  on the map to make the icons easier to see and press :square: to set a waypoint. There can be multiple balls in the same area. In the top right corner of the HUD you see which balls you found.

Step 3: After finding all 7 Dragon Balls go to the Pause Menu — Dragon Balls and select your wish (all wishes listed below). Afterward the Dragon Balls are scattered across the world again. But they don’t respawn directly, there is a 20 minute cooldown and you get a notification when they respawned. The game uses actual in-game time played to track this, changing time in your system settings doesn’t work to trick it. The balls will land in different locations than before. It’s random every time where the Dragon Balls will land. Because you can see them marked on the world map they are easy to locate though.

You can repeat this process infinitely and make as many wishes you want! You can pick 3 wishes at a time so make sure you put a wish in each of the 3 slots before summoning Shenron.

List of Shenron Wishes

  • Fighting a story boss of your choice again (replaying the hardest battles)
  • I want Z Orbs! – Get lots of Z Orbs of each color (Green, Red, Blue). They are used to unlock and level up Special Attacks.
  • I want to be Rich! – Get lots of money. Used to buy materials etc. from merchants marked on the map.
  • I want rare items! – Receive rare items that are difficult to acquire by normal means.

That’s all there is to finding all of the Dragon Balls in DBZ Kakarot. Remember that doing this 10 times gives you the “Shenron’s Favorite” trophy or achievement.

It may be overlapping with another icon on the map. It happens quite often, but if you get really close up to the screen and scroll over each icon you should be able to tell which has the round dragon ball icon sitting behind it. Another option would be to fly around and scan every area with :l1: if you see the ball. I’m pretty sure it’s just icons overlapping and no actual bug.

The dragon balls haven’t respawned after my first use? I’ve waited the 20 minutes, way past it actually?

If you are doing main story mission, it will not respawn until you finished first.
