Sharpening the Axe Won’t Hinder the Work is unlocked by talking to the blacksmith Wagner, who becomes available during Prologue: Act 1.

Mission Description: Paimon believes in order to meet the adventures that are to come, it would be best to first make some preparations.

Objectives:

• Collect three Iron Ore Chunks and give them to Wagner
• Talk to Wagner the blacksmith

Starting Location: Sharpening the Axe Won’t Hinder the Work

Talk to Wagner, the blacksmith to the left after entering Mondstadt. When you’re in close proximity you should already get this to show in your quest log from afar.

Collect three Iron Ore Chunks and give them to Wagner

Track the quest from your quest log and you should see a yellow search area on the map, just east of Mondstadt (200 meters away from Wagner).

Once you arrive at the location, there will be some iron ore on the rocks. You must attack these with your weapons to break them. Then they drop the iron ore chunks that you must pick up. They can slide down the rocks if you don’t pick them up quick enough, if that happens walk closer to the iron ore chunk to see the pickup prompt, or destroy another iron ore.

Talk to Wagner the blacksmith

After you picked up 3 iron ore chunks you must return to the quest giver Wagner, who is found in the same place where the quest started. Talk to him and you’ll get the option to craft an Enhancement Ore (this is optional and not needed for the quest’s completion). You now have access to the blacksmith’s crafting menu, remember his location as it can be useful to craft things later in the game.
