Kingdom Come Deliverance: Unexpected Visit Main Quest Walkthrough

Unexpected Visit is the first main Quest in Kingdom Come: Deliverance (KCD). This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Unexpected Visit Main Quest:

Go to your Father

Simply go outside and talk to your father (the blacksmith) at the forge. He will give 4 fetch quests.

Pick up the cross-guard from the Castle

For this you must head up the hill to the castle. Talk to the guards and they will hand you the cross-guard. Keep it for now and continue with the other tasks.

Collect the debt from Kunesh

Kunesh is found in the village down the hill. He will be behind a house on the left, marked on your map. The radar at the top of the screen also shows red icons for quest objectives so you can locate them faster.

Talk to Kunesh. He doesn’t want to pay. Trying to convince him to pay will fail and result in a fistfight. During this part you get a tutorial how the conversation system in KCD works. When you enter combat with Kunesh you get another tutorial for combat. Press to block, to kick, for quick strikes, for heavy strikes. Try to switch it up a bit and attack from all sides. When your stamina gets low, back off to let it recharge. As long as your stamina (yellow bar at bottom of the screen) is high enough it will let you block all incoming damage.

Whether you win or lose will lead to different outcomes:

• If you win: he lets you go into his house and loot his belongings so you can resell them to pay off the debt.
• If you lose: you must go back home to let your mother patch you up. Then knock out Kunesh with a sneak attack from behind (press to sneak and to knock him out). Because he’s behind a house nobody else will notice the crime. Then loot his body to get the key to his house. Inside his house is a chest (room on the right) that contains some of Kunesh’s stuff that you can resell for cash on the market.

Buy a bag of Charcoal at the market

With the loot from Kunesh you can go to the market. There’s a merchant standing on the path leading uphill (standing in front of a horse cart). Sell the stuff to him and buy 10 pieces of charcoal from him.

Sword Tutorial

You will have to take a sword lesson before you can continue. To do this, talk to the guy on the market square, sitting in front of the merchant you bought charcoal from. The guy is called “Combat Master Vanyek”. Follow him and he’ll give you a tutorial for sword fighting.

Buy ale at the tavern

Lastly, get the ale. The reason you must get this last is that it gets warm otherwise! Your father will only accept cold ale. You must talk to Bianco, the tavern girl, to get ale from her.

On your way there you will meet your friends. They overheard a guy called “Deutsch” talking bad about the king and want to teach him a lesson by throwing dung at him. It doesn’t matter what you do here. If you want to keep your reputation high you should skip this part.

Return with everything to your father at the forge. If you take too long the ale will get warm and he won’t accept it. In this case you need to talk to Bianca again and pay for the ale yourself. If you run back within 2-3 minutes to your father it will still be cold.

Go and get Nails for Theresa

Once you hand your father everything there will be a nice cutscene with you and your father forging the sword. A girl from the village called Theresa will stop by to pick up some nails. Run back into your house and pick up the nails from the chest. Hand her the nails.

Now there will be a series of lengthy cutscenes. After the cutscene the next main quest “Run!” will automatically start.
