Resident Evil 2 Remake Chess Plug Socket Puzzle Solution

The Chess Plug Socket in the Monitor Room of the Sewers is a Puzzle in Resident Evil 2 Remake. This guide will show you the solution for the Electronic Parts Chess Figures Puzzle.

This is the Main Puzzle you will find in the Sewers, in one of the safe rooms called “Monitor Room”. You can’t miss it during your playthrough as it’s mandatory to advance the story.

Some preparation work is required: When you arrive in the Monitor Room for the first time, only 3 Chess Piece Plugs are in the Sockets. There are, however, six Sockets total so you’re missing 3 Plugs. The ones that are missing are the Queen, King, Rook.

Queen & King Plug: They are found in Supplies Storage Room in the Lower Sewers. To get there, you must first get the T-Bar Valve Handle from the Treatment Pool Room. Then use the handle on a floodgate to get to the Bottom Waterway, where many poison monsters lurk. After making it through the Bottom Waterway you come to the Supplies Storage Room. There you find the two Plugs. There’s actually a small Chess Plug Puzzle there of its own, but all you have to do is take out the Queen Plug and insert it in a different Socket to open a door. Then you can reach the King Plug upstairs. Don’t forget the Queen Plug on your way back out and retrace your steps to the Monitor Room to deliver the two plugs.

Rook Plug: Open the Floodgate at the Lower Waterway (Lower Sewers) to the Workroom Lift. Take the lift up to the Workroom. Exit the Workroom and the Rook Plug will be in front of you in a wall socket. You actually passed by this earlier when you arrived at the Sewers, but couldn’t take it with you cause taking the Rook Plug raises a bridge that blocks off the main path. Because we created a shortcut through the Workroom / Sewers, we can trace back our steps to get back to the Monitor Room. Now we finally have all 3 plugs that we need!

Solution

The solution on your first and second playthrough will be different for this one.

Solution A-Scenario (1st Run):
Right Wall = Pawn / Queen / King
Left Wall = Bishop / Rook / Knight

Solution B-Scenario (2nd Run):
Right Wall = Pawn / Rook / Knight
Left Wall = Queen / Bishop/ King

The Right means the one where the Pawn Sticker is on a socket, and Left Wall means the one where a Knight Sticker is on a socket. The first on each wall means the one furthest away from the workbench (or closest to where we came from).

When done correctly, the U-Area door will open instantly as soon as all plugs have been placed. Before you head through it, be sure to stock up on ammo and health items because a big fight lies ahead. Make a manual backup save at this point.
