The Last of Us PS5 Remake introduces a new Speedrun Mode. This guide explains how to unlock it and how this mode works.
How to Unlock Speedrun Mode
Speedrun Mode is unlocked by beating the main game The Last Of Us Part 1. You don’t need to finish the Left Behind story to unlock it. After finishing your main playthrough on any difficulty you will get a “Game Completed” screen that tells you New Game+ and Speedrun Mode have been unlocked:
How to Enable Speedrun Mode
To enable Speedrun Mode you must go the the Title Screen and start a New Game, then turn on the toggle that says “Speedrun Mode”.
How does Speedrun Mode work?
Speedrun Mod enables an in-game timer that tracks playthrough length. A timer will be shown in the top right corner of the screen. This timer is paused during cinematics and scene transitions. This mode can only be enabled when starting a new game. After completing the game, Speedrun Recap displays your chapter times and total play time with your previous record. These records are located in Extras > Speedrun Recap. Records are categorized by game section, challenge level, permadeath setting, and new game+ mode.
When enabling Speedrun Mode the chosen difficulty cannot be changed you can’t disable Speedrun Mode until you are done with the playthrough.
