The best melee weapon in Biomutant is the Pri Murgel Sword. You can get it relatively early in the game. It deals a lot of damage and puts enemies on fire. It’s also useful for the Starstruck trophy and achievement which requires you to have a 7 star weapon. Its base rating is 5.5 stars but it can easily be upgraded to 7 stars. This guide shows how to get the Pri Murgel Sword and how to upgrade it.
There are a few steps to this which we’ll go over in detail below:
- Interact with the light at the top of the lighthouse at coordinates X: 144325 / Y: -179562.
- This starts a side quest. Follow the waypoints to the end to get the Pri Murgel Sword (the best melee weapon).
- Upgrade the sword further with add-ons to make it even stronger.
Step 1: Interact with Lighthouse
The first step is to climb to the top of the Lighthouse (called “Lumentower”) in the southeast of the map. It’s at coordinates X: 144325 / Y: -179562 (Map Sector 2G).
To reach the island with the lighthouse you need the boat (called “Googlide”), which you get automatically from the story on your way to the 2nd World Eater boss.
There are some yellow climbing spots inside the Lighthouse. Double-jump to them to reach the top. Then interact with the light at the top. This will start a new Side Quest called “The Beacon”.
Step 2: Follow the Waypoints to find Pri Murgel Sword
All you need to do now is to follow the waypoints of “The Beacon” side quest. It will lead you towards the very outer edge of the map in the southeast. There you need to climb up some rocks (they have yellow markings to indicate climbing spots), and on top you find a cave entrance. Inside this cave is a monster, defeat it. Then interact with the 3 blue glowing texts on the walls around the room to reveal the Pri Murgel Sword in the middle of the room.
Again, all of this will have in-game waypoints guiding you there so it will be very easy to find.
The Pri Murgel Sword has a base rating of 5.5 stars. It’s a heavy two-handed slash weapon that deals fire damage. It puts enemies on fire very quickly which makes them run around aimlessly for a moment. And of course it deals a lot of damage. Here’s what the Pri Murgel Sword looks like:
Step 3: Upgrade Weapon with Add-Ons
With some quick add-ons you can make this weapon even better! The Pri Murgel Sword has two add-on slots. Open the Crafting Menu > click on Main Hand Weapons > select Pri Murgel Sword.
Sometimes it doesn’t show the two Add-on slots on it correctly. If it doesn’t show them, click around the weapon handle / base type menu a bit and then look if the Add-On slots become visible, or back out of the menu and enter it again. It’s just a little visual bug that happens sometimes.
If you already have some melee add-ons that’s great, you can use those. Or you can go to any conquered outpost and buy some add-ons from the melee weapon vendor. It’s the smith that’s on the right side behind any Outpost entrance. Buy 2 Add-Ons that have at least 1-star rating. If you slot them onto the weapon it brings it to 7 stars total! Having a 7-star weapon also unlocks the Starstruck trophy or achievement.
An outpost that’s nearby is the Domp Outpost at coordinates X: 37825 / Y: -88125 (Map Sector 4E). This is also in the southeastern region near the lighthouse. The smith merchant there sells multiple 1-star melee add-ons.
