Hide, Hideaway is the 8th main story quest in Final Fantasy 16 (XVI). This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Hide, Hideaway main scenario chapter.

- Quest Info: Promising succor, Cid welcomes Clive into his deadlands sanctuary hidden deep within the ruins of a lost civilization. There, Clive, discovers something that had eluded him for nigh thirteen years – freedom.
Objectives:
- Speak with Cid in his chambers
- Visit the main hall
- Speak with Blackthorne in the smithy
- Speak with Goetz
- Speak with the man tending to the Bearers
- Speak with Tarja in the infirmary
- Speak with Charon at her stall
- Collect the supplies
- Make for the Greatwood
Speak with Cid in his chambers
In the Hideaway for the first time, you won’t be able to do anything for a bit, so head up the stairs to the left to speak with Cid in his chambers.
Visit the main hall
After the scene is done, head back out into the main area of the Hideaway.
Speak with Blackthorne in the smithy
You’ll speak with Goetz automatically who gives you some rum, which you need to give to Blackthrone to have him agree to improve your gear. Head into the side room where Blackthorne is stationed and speak with him, then hand him the rum. You’ll be introduced to the crafting menu, and can make yourself an Iron Belt +1. Make sure to equip it when prompted.
Speak with Goetz
Head back out and speak with Goetz in his spot for another scene.
Speak with the man tending to the Bearers
A group of new characters walk in, speak with the man crouched on the ground.
Speak with Tarja in the infirmary
After hearing them out, head back up the stairs where you went to Cid’s quarters prior, and speak to the woman standing near the door on the right.
Speak with Charon at her stall
After some more scenes, you will need to speak with Charon at her stall to continue. At this time you will also unlock the ability to complete Side Quests. These are optional objectives that you can complete during the main quest for some extra rewards if you wish. Note that the ones in this first portion of the game are missable if not completed before a certain point, but they aren’t needed for anything trophy-wise and you will be warned before the point they become missable.
New Side Quests:
At Charon’s stall you can stock up on consumable items, as well as purchase new gear. Sometimes she’ll have gear better than your currently equipped item, but you can also typically craft a +1 version of this item with Blackthorne at the same time, so keep a lookout if you don’t have that much Gil to purchase from her.
Collect the supplies
Charon left some supplies nearby, which you can now go collect. When you do so, you’ll be introduced to The Arete Stone, which is a mechanic that allows you to either practice combat in an arena against enemies you choose or replay specific story encounters in a score-attack fashion.
Make for the Greatwood
Once you are finished in the Hideaway and want to progress, open up the world map and select The Greatwood to proceed to the next main quest.
