The Dead of Night is the 11th main story quest in Final Fantasy 16 (XVI). This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of The Dead of Night main scenario chapter.

- Quest Info: The Dominant of Fire has fallen into the hands of Benedikta’s intelligencers and Clive, Cid, and Gav must scramble to gather information on their quarry’s whereabouts.
Objectives:
- Speak with Quinten
- Gather information from the villagers 0/2
- Speak with Cid
- Speak with Quinten
- Make for Caer Norvent
- Enter Caer Norvent
Speak with Quinten
At the start of the quest, you’ll be back in Lostwing. If you want you can take this opportunity to fix up your gear by either going back to the Hideaway or purchasing from the Shop in Lostwing (there is a higher stat weapon and armor items available). This is also the first time you encounter Orchestrion Rolls, which are unique items that add songs to the Orchestrion in the Hideaway. There is one you can purchase from the Shop in Lostwing (when you have enough money, they’re very expensive and you shouldn’t buy them) along with the Histoire roll that you can find by climbing the stairs, then two ladders up to the very top floor in Lostwing.
When you’re ready to continue, head out the front door of the building on the ground floor to speak with Quiten.
During the scene, he’ll give you the Hanged Man curiosity. These are ones you’ll receive through various story events automatically but don’t count towards any other trophy requirements.
Gather information from the villagers 0/2
You can now check the map, and there will be two spots marked where there are villagers from Lostwing. Head over to both spots and speak with them to gain more information.
Speak with Cid
Once you spoke with both villagers, head near the entrance to the main building again to meet with Cid.
Speak with Quinten
You can then head back inside and speak with Quinten at the counter.
Make for Caer Norvent
The next day, you’ll need to head for Caer Norvent for your objective. Take the stairs up where you went to the church prior, and then take the path leading to the right.
Follow the linear path ahead. There will be a number of soldiers in your way again, so dispatch them how you like and keep following the objective.
Enter Caer Norvent
Once you near the objective, you’ll automatically be returned to the world map. You can then select Caer Norvent to proceed to the next quest.
