Final Fantasy XV – How to Open Locked Vault Doors in Dungeons (Secret Endgame Raids)

November 29, 2016 by PowerPyx 1 Comment

At the end of some dungeons in Final Fantasy XV you may have noticed locked vault doors.

Behind those doors are deeper levels of the dungeons with higher level enemies and better rewards. These endgame raids are only accessible after finishing the story.

This guide shows you how to unlock the vault doors.

Step 1: Finish the Story (all 14 chapters). After the credits you will be asked to create a save game, which you have to accept. When you load this save you can go to a lodging and call Umbra to travel back to all places in the game.

Step 2: Finish these 4 dungeons: Balouve Mines, Crestholm Channels, Daurell Caverns, Costlemark Tower. Refer to this guide for their locations: Dungeon Locations Guide.

Step 3: Go to the Meldacio Hunter HQ Outpost in the very north of Cleigne. There’s an old lady sitting on a chair. If you’ve done the previous steps she should now be marked as a quest giver. Talk to her to receive a key for all dungeon vaults! She will also give you several “Menace” Quests. Track a Menace Quest and it will put a waypoint to the next Vault on the map.

Come well prepared. These raids are no joke. They have the strongest enemies in the game and take a very long time to complete. If you want the very best equipment in the game this is where you’re gonna find it.

There are 8 sealed vaults that lead to raids:

  1. Keycatrich – Level 55
  2. Grotto – Level 65
  3. Fociaugh – Level 65
  4. Daurell – Level 72
  5. Balouve – Level 78
  6. Steyliff – Level 86
  7. Crestholm – Level 92
  8. Costlemark – Level 99
