Hogwarts Legacy Foal of the Dead Walkthrough

Foal of the Dead is a Side Quest in Hogwarts Legacy. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Foal of the Dead side mission.

Objectives:

Talk to Deek in the Room of Requirement
Rescue a male Thestral
Rescue a female Thestral
Purchase a breeding pen spellcraft
Return to Deek in the Room of Requirement
Conjure a breeding pen
Use the breeding pen to breed the Thestrals
Groom and feed the Thestral Offspring
Speak with Deek

Starting Location: Foal of the Dead

Talk to Deek in the Room of Requirement

Just talk to Deek in the Room of Requirement, he wants you to breed a Thestral.

Rescue a male Thestral & Rescue a female Thestral

You can find them on the north side of the world map, just follow the quest marker. If you already rescued a male and female Thestral prior to this side quest, you can skip to the next objective.

Use the Nab-Sack to rescue them. If you wanna know what gender the Testral is you are about to rescue, just look at the top of the screen.

Purchase a breeding pen spellcraft

You can buy a breeding pen spellcraft and Tomes and Scrolls in Hogsmeade for 1000 Gold.

Return to Deek in the Room of Requirement

Once you got both Thestrals and the spellcraft, return to Deek.

Conjure a breeding pen

Enter the vivarium that appeared during the conversation with Deek.

Inside the vivarium, cast the Conjuring spell, select Beast Items then select Breeding Pen and place it anywhere you like.

Use the breeding pen to breed the Thestrals

Interact with the book in front of the breeding pen and choose Thestrals. The breeding process takes 30 minutes real time. You can wait here, or do something else.
