Pokemon Scarlet & Violet How to Unlock Ace Cup

After defeating the Elite 4 and becoming the Champion of Paldea you will be asked to complete an evaluation of all the gyms in Paldea. To complete the evaluation and enter the Ace Cup you will need to go around Paldea again and defeat all of the gym leaders again. This time it won’t matter what order you fight the gym leaders in as they are all the same level and there are no Gym Tests.

Below is a list of all the Gym Leader Rematches and what Pokemon you can be expecting them to be using.

Step 1: Defeat all Gym Leaders Again After Story

Cortondo Gym: Katy (Bug Gym) – Level 66

Pokemon:

  • Lokix (Level 65) – Bug/Dark
  • Forretress (Level 65) – Bug/Steel
  • Spidops (Level 65) – Bug
  • Heracross (Level 65) – Bug/Fighting
  • Ursaring (Level 66) – Bug Tera Type

Weak Against: Fire

Artazan Gym: Brassius (Grass Gym) – Level 66

Pokemon:

  • Liligant (Level 65) – Grass
  • Breloom (Level 65) – Grass/Fighting
  • Tsareena (Level 65) – Grass
  • Arboliva (Level 65) – Grass/Normal
  • Sudowoodo (Level 66) – Grass Tera Type

Weak Against: Fire

Levincia Gym: Iono (Electric Gym) – Level 66

Pokemon:

  • Kilowattrel (Level 65) – Electric/Flying
  • Bellibolt (Level 65) – Electric
  • Electrode (Level 65) – Electric
  • Luxray (Level 65) – Electric
  • Mismagius (Level 66) – Electric Tera Type

Weak Against: Ground

Cascarrafa Gym: Kofu (Water Gym) – Level 66

Pokemon:

  • Veluza (Level 65) – Water/Psychic
  • Pelipper (Level 65) – Water/Flying
  • Wugtrio (Level 65) – Water
  • Clawitzer (Level 65) – Water
  • Crabominable (Level 66) – Water Tera Type

Weak Against: Electric

Medali Gym: Larry (Normal Gym) – Level 66

Pokemon:

  • Oinkologne (Level 65) – Normal
  • Komala (Level 65) – Normal
  • Braviary (Level 65) – Normal/Flying
  • Dudunsparce (Level 65) – Normal
  • Staraptor (Level 66) – Normal Tera Type

Weak Against: Fighting

Montenevera Gym: Ryme (Ghost Gym) – Level 66

Pokemon:

  • Banette (Level 65) – Ghost
  • Mimikyu (Level 65) – Ghost/Fairy
  • Spiritomb (Level 65) – Ghost/Dark
  • Houndstone (Level 65) – Ghost
  • Toxtricity (Level 66) – Ghost Tera Type

Weak Against: Ghost, Dark

Alfornada Gym: Tulip (Psychic Gym) – Level 66

Pokemon:

  • Farigiraf (Level 65) – Normal/Psychic
  • Gardevoir (Level 65) – Psychic/Fairy
  • Espartha (Level 65) – Psychic
  • Gallade (Level 65) – Psychic/Fighting
  • Florges (Level 66) – Psychic Tera Type

Weak Against: Ghost, Bug, Dark

Glaseado Gym: Grusha (Ice Gym) – Level 66

Pokemon:

  • Frosmoth (Level 65) – Ice/Bug
  • Beartic (Level 65) – Ice
  • Cetitan (Level 65) – Ice
  • Weavile (Level 65) – Ice
  • Altaria (Level 66) – Ice Tera Type

Weak Against: Fighting, Rock, Steel, Fire

Step 2: Start Ace Cup Tournament

After Completing all of the Gym Rematches you will get a call to return to the school, doing so will start the Ace Cup leadup. Once you go to the school you will go through a sequence of dialogue and cutscenes and it will end with you in your room. Once you leave your room you will be in the lobby of the school and you will have to go to the main desk where you will be told to register for the Ace Cup. Once you are registered speak to the same person who registered you to start the Ace Cup but be warned, unlike the Elite 4 you will NOT have the opportunity to heal your pokemon between matches.

Pokemon Trainer Arven – Level 68

  • Greedent (Level 67) – Normal
  • Cloyster (Level 67) – Water/Ice
  • Scovillain (Level 67) – Grass/Fire
  • Toedscruel (Level 67) – Ground/Grass
  • Garganacl (Level 67) – Rock
  • Mabosstiff (Level 68) – Dark Tera Type

Instructor Jacq – Level 66

  • Arcanine (Level 65) – Fire
  • Lurantis (Level 65) – Grass
  • Swalot (Level 65) – Poison
  • Mudsdale (Level 65) – Ground
  • Slowbro (Level 65) – Water/Psychic
  • Farigiraf (Level 66) – Psychic Tera Type

Instructor Dendra – Level 66

  • Falinks (Level 65) – Fighting
  • Tauros (Level 65) – Fighting/Fire
  • Tauros (Level 65) – Fighting/Water
  • Medicham (Level 65) – Fighting/Psychic
  • Hawlucha (Level 65) – Fighting/Flying
  • Hariyama (Level 66) – Fighting Tera Type

Top Champion Geeta – Level 70

  • Espartha (Level 69) – Psychic
  • Gogoat (Level 69) – Grass
  • Veluza (Level 69) – Water/Psychic
  • Avalugg (Level 69) – Ice
  • Kingambit (Level 69) – Dark/Steel
  • Glimmora (Level 70) – Rock/Poison

Once you defeated all 4 opponents you will have completed the Ace Cup for the first time. You can feel free to enter the Ace Cup as many times as you want for rewards such as Apricorn Balls, Vitamins, Beast Balls etc. The opponents you will fight in the subsequent rematches will randomize and be between levels 66 and 72.
